Great breakfast, always + service is friendly

I just stopped in for breakfast this morning on January 13th, 2024 and it's still the same great service and food. Highly recommended for breakfast with friends or family!

A classic breakfast place. Attentive and pleasant service. The food is as expected for a place like this. But an extra star because they have gluten free bread options.

This Phil's has a more modern design but boasts the same extensive menu and excellent service.
Street parking is metered, but every time I've been, the charge was $0.00.
The restaurant is comfortable with sufficient roominess for their customers, and the pancakes are, as always, super delicious! And, they offer a No Sugar Added syrup, definitely a value add for diabetics and those watching their sugars!

Had breakfast there today. Server was friendly but slow. Breakfast arrived warm, but definitely not the hot meal I was expecting. The business was steady but I didn’t think it was busy at the time I was there. Maybe there were staffing issues in the kitchen that caused a less than satisfying experience for me.

I've had too many unpleasant experiences as of late. Not sure I'll be coming back or ordering via Skip again. Undercooked shredded hashbrowns (several times now), over cooked eggs. I get the eggs (benedicts) being overcooked but the hasbrowns don't take much to cook a minute or two longer.

Always as expected and food was great and service from wait staff was abive and beyond what we expected

Simply scrumptious. Had no idea it's a Calgary based restaurant. Smoked salmon omelette, btw. Every bite got better and better.

It was my first time here and the stuffed French toast was delicious!

My friend got the salmon Benny and he enjoyed it too.

Portions were enormous.too McLachlan for a Wednesday morning before work but lots of great flavors and Emma provided immaculate service.

Decent experience, we had the waffles with a side of bacon and eggs. And my boyfriend got the steak and eggs with a side of bacon and pancakes. Overall for my first time, it was okay. I was expecting something a little better, it seemed to me like something was missing. With all the new brunch places opening up I can understand why this place wouldn't be as busy as those new trendy ones, it's got a nice charm to it but they can use some updating on their menu.

A good diner experience with decent portion sizes. Most importantly for a diner, it's actually open relatively early (6am) when the vast majority of coffee shops and other diners in the city aren't. Friendly staff.

This is the most discusting food I have ever tasted.ordered meals for my entire family and I've never been so sick before in my life. Everything was soggy, wet and looked like it should have been thrown iut 3 weeks ago.the packaging they use is some. 01$ cardboard box from God knows where that disintegrates the minute you touch it. Along side all of this they decide to package the cold fruit bowls with all the other steaming hot piles of trash that they like to call food. I will never order, return or think about recommending this discusting place to any one I've ever known, I wouldn't even recommend my worst enemy's eat here. Lack or care, lack of preparation, lack of anything.

Love Phil’s, and have been going to various locations for 30+ years. Can’t beat the price point and service - very classic diner vibe. Their coffee is THE BEST. Strong, smooth, and they give you your own carafe. When I was a kid the warm apple pancakes was my regular order, now it’s always eggs with beef chubbies. (The superior chubbie) My only complaint is the decor has lost its character. Hopefully on their next update this location will get some consideration and love.

Always good, I love it that Phil's has chicken chubbies, buckwheat pancakes, and fresh coffee brought with a thermos for refills.

A very clean place. The silverware shone and the washroom sparkled. The food was great and the service was excellent.

Great service, fast, friendly, unobtrusive. Never had to wait in line. Food is good value (as long as you stay away from the a la carte sides, those are a bit ridiculous). Menu is somewhat limited, but with vegetarian, gluten free, and standard options everyone should be able to find something.
I cannot verify how rigorous they are about cross contamination on gluten free options, so I don't know if the place is truly celiac friendly.

I believe there is an ADA compliant ramp and automatic door for those in wheelchairs.

Coffee quality is a bit inconsistent, but when it's good, it's good.

We were walking looking for a breakfast place to eat. Took us over an hour to find this place by foot. We just loved this place and went for a 2nd time today (45 mins walk from the hotel) and we may go again before leaving the city this week.food was awesome and place was clean. The server remembered us from the first time.we recommend this place 100%

Took my family for the first time at this location and we absolutely love our food. The waffle were amazing and the eggs is cooked to perfection. My husband and daughter love their meal as well. The service was fast, we sat down and order and our food came in just under 10 minutes. Pretty good time, also our server was really nice and friendly we love talking to him!

Maybe Teach your kitchen staff how to cook eggs correctly and what the difference between poached eggs and over easy eggs is

Really solid breakfast! The staff was friendly and attentive and the food came out in a reasonable amount of time.the prices were fair and the food was amazing. I don't know what they do to their shredded hashbrowns but they are really good! I would definitely recommend this place for a reasonably priced breakfast, with great coffee.

Wow, what a great experience we just had at Phils. Our waitress Patty literally pulled out all the stops. Today is my birthday and I went to meet my in-laws quickly on our way through to Edmonton from Vancouver. I was utterly shocked when the staff came out not only to bring me a birthday waffle with strawberries, whip cream, and a candle lit, but they also sang happy birthday and the entire restaurant chimed in. It has to have been at least 15 years since I’ve ever seen that happen in a restaurant, truly blew my mind and surprisingly made a huge impression on me. I highly recommend Phil’s thorough breakfast menu and out of this world service. A family friendly restaurant with lots of privacy between tables so the noise is moderate, even when you’re laughing and joking around. Thank you for making my birthday so special Patty and the Phil’s crew, you rock!

LOL I ordered "chicken and waffles" for takeout. What did I get? Chicken tenders thrown on top of a waffle. For $18.

Breakfast was great. Ordered mimosas and arrived with two small bottles of bubbly and orange juice.
Meal was fantastic. Service was prompt.

Lovely servers, decent covid procedures, affordable yummy food. Lovely location. Menu is smaller here than some other Phil's but it's still a good selection.

Nice to be back after closed for a while, the service is always excellent & the food is good & quick.

Diner style breakfast. For the price it's okay. Been twice and had not the best service, but the food was quick. Just not a place I am running back to in a hurry.

A consistently great breakfast. Nothing out of this world. But just good wholesome fresh food! A step above Denny’s. One of my go to spots!

Was a pretty rough meal. The service was good. That's about the only thing that was, though. Eggs were slimey, meat was odd tasting, hash browns were completely not seasoned. 10/10 would not recommend

If you haven't been initiated, Phil's is Calgary's answer to greasy spoon diners. Prompt, hot breakfast food at reasonable prices. Coffee comes in a carafe for the caffeine addicted. Wait staff are friendly and the relaxed atmosphere is great for a quick bite or a leisurely start to the day. I definitely prefer their breakfast over their full menu but with an all day breakfast I can't complain.

In these times it also felt great to see the robust covid precautions in place, & they didn't take away from the charm of this Calgary institution.

I ordered the 3 links and eggs with an extra order of 3 mini waffles. It was enough for me to share my meal with my 3 years old. The service was alright, my water never got fill however the waiter did came many time to check up on us, it feel a little push to leave even though it was not even half full.

Terrible food and high price.go to Sunterra instead just down the road. You'll thank me later. I didnt have a choice or else not 1 star is deserved.

I ordered a sandwich that was to have carmalized onions and melted cheese. Two thick layers of nearly raw onions. I like onions quite a lot, but I couldn't even finish half of the sandwich. Hugely disappointed. To add insult to injury the fries were quite over cooked and the gravy was so very thin. I've never had a negative experience at any Phil's in all my life.not sure what was happening with this visit.

Place was dead on Saturday morning.
Breakfast was lukewarm and eggs undercooked.
The server took my partners plate from under him while he was still eating "you done? " was kind of awkward.
Definitely not the Phils experience Im used to, never been to this location.
Poor food quality and rushed service in a restaurant that has half open tables, we wont be back.

Great breakfast for a reasonable price. It costs quite a bit more that fast food (~$15 / person for most stuff), but it beats the hell out of an egg McMuffin. I usually get 2 eggs, 5 beef chubbies, and either pancakes or potato pancakes. The menu is pretty extensive, too many items for my taste.

Staff are efficient & friendly. The food is standard fare which I like and the prices are reasonable. Menu has good variety for any time of day

My favourite breakfast place in Calgary. This location is new and the staff are very good. I can even get onions in my homefries here. I left one star off because the homefries aren't made from scratch - cut, boiled and fried.

Phil's has always been one of my to go to breakfast/brunch places. Now that I have kids, I now appreciate the free pancakes and friendly, family atmosphere. The coffee crafts, 3 different syrups, and assorted condiments on table is always a great choice and keeps us coming back!

I still love the people and the food here. I just miss the old location and the quaintness of it.

The service is good, but the food isn't. Burnt meat medallions, burnt toast, extra brown crispy waffles.

Two stars simply because the servers are top-notch. Food quality needs major improvement and doesn't compare to other Phils in town.

Open, bright, beautiful seating, really nice.
I loved the Livernonions.
Excellent service, Seth so very attentive, professional, kind and accommodating.
He brings warmth to this location.
He is part of the tapestry that creates a nice, clean, cozy, enjoyable atmosphere.
Immaculate.
He greets you happily and with a smile.

Service was great! But I ordered the eggs Benedict and it did not taste good at all, very poor quality.

Amazing breakfast. Huge selection on the menu and fantastic service. I would come here everytime I come to Calgary.

I was very excited to try the new location having been to all the others over many years.
The location and decor were trendy. Thought might try a different breakfast item from the usual eggs and meat.
The flavour profile of the crepe seemed more like 2 enemies wrapped fighting as opposed to 2 friends complimenting each other and the texture was close to a rubber far pillow.

I've no doubt other menu items will be amazing but this just wasn't working for me on that visit.

The food is okay. The servers are not very friendly. They don’t smile and overall made us feel we’re not welcome.

Excellent customer service and food. You will not be disappointed. The only advise you will need to pay parking if you during day time except weekends.

I really like this location for the staff. Everyone is helpful and pleasant. I've always had well prepared food here. Never had to wait very long to be served despite them being continuously busy.

If you are a fan of Phil's, you should most definately come check out Phil's on 11th. Exhibiting frontal display windows, encouraging you to enjoy the downtown feel. This spot is a modern touch on the Phil's Diner of old.
