I stopped in and ordered chicken fingers and fries, and a lager beer. Everything was delicious.
But by far the best part of my experience was my server, Chris.
Chris is an absolute superstar. She remembered me and my drink order after only coming in once, and she’s the most personable server I’ve ever had the pleasure of being served by. She was friendly, and very quick, taking care of the whole restaurant at perfect timing. She deserve a raise, or at least if the Pig and Duke doesn’t yet have an award system for its staff, they should create one just for Chris! She deserves recognition for the amazing work she does. She’s a superstar server! Thank you Chris for your amazing service! I’ll be back as a regular with my family and friends for years to come thanks to you!
I recommend checking out this awesome place if you haven’t yet.
Here is racists work.don't visit here. They're racists. Yesterday I tried to enter while eating donuts, but they told me that outside food is prohibited. So I ate all the little donuts I was eating and waited for the server but they told me 4 more times that outside food is prohibited.and didn't give any guidance. At that time I had already finished my donuts and I had no outside food. They led us to Patio and left us without taking any orders. Then a man came and told us to no outside food again and GET OFF. We were so shocked.
It's pretty typical puc fare. The food, for what it is, is done quite well. The wings were juicy. The popcorn pork was pretty good with salt and pepper. The hot wing sauce on their hot wings tastes like Frank's. The mozzarella sticks were battery and really crunchy. The Mac and cheese bites did have a nice strong cheddar taste. The nachos were ordinary.
The waitress was quick and bubbly. The food arrived very quickly after being ordered.
Looking for a new place to meet old friend after a long covid absence. Searching the net, checking reviews and pictures, WHY? Would I want to go to an establishment that advertises a guy with no shirt or shoes in a bathroom? I hope he is not the cook. Not exactly the atmosphere we were looking for.
My first time was on Saint Patrick’s day We only had wings and chicken bites. I mean when it come to Irish pubs vast majority are fine, feel the same, food is almost the same Sorry for the boring answer
We came in for brunch and the food was really good! The person who served us was so lovely. I was looking at the rest of the menu and I really want to come back. Try the house hot sauce!
Excellent pub food elevated, a ton of local and international beers, free parking and great wine list! Need I say more? Ok I will rustic barn wood setting and reasonable prices. Try the Sheppard’s Pie Egg rolls, they are excellent.
Don't eat here, cockroach issues. The building they are established in has a severe cockroach problem and they don't seem to care or want to help out in anyway. I personally have seen cockroaches in many places throughout the building, including near the kitchen and hallway leading to the kitchen. A pest control worker who came around leaving (useless) traps for proof of the cockroaches claimed that the cockroaches are "probably from the garbage room" which is concerning because that is across the hallway from the door to the kitchen. Your food is being cooked just feet away from cockroaches. Do. Not. Eat. Here.
Pretty unhappy. I am fully vaccinated (Outside of Canada) and just came back to Alberta, meaning I do not have a QR code yet. Despite having my ID and ArriveCan immunization proof, I was declined entry. I tried to explain that it was a valid form of vaccination by AHS, but was told it didn't matter. Please Pig & Duke, inform yourself about valid forms of vaccine proof for international travelers, as I had appropriate documentation with me.
Yummy pub grub, typical pub vibes. Great location for me, nice covid safe table set ups. Service was nice and food was good. Nothing to write home about but sometimes all you want is a burger:) I wish they had their yummy popcorn available- the server said they could make it but they don't? Weird.
This place has a down to earth atmosphere, great drink menu featuring a variety of craft breweries, and delicious food! Located in the Beltline away from the hustle and bustle of 17th Avenue, this pub is a true local gem. Highly recommended for tourists searching for a local experience- you won't be disappointed! Incredible value for money.
This place is a sham. Be very cautious with your bill. They would put some random stuff on you bill and even while paying it, they would add another 10-20 dollars by themselves assuming that you will just pay it. Horrible experience and they are just making money by charging more money for random things on your tab and cheating customers
What an amazingly solid place near downtown. I've actually never heard of this place or been here until a good friend of mine suggested we have lunch as it was close to his house. The staff was incredibly kind and accommodating especially with the restrictions and needing to sit outside. It was a little bit chilly and they were more than happy to turn the patio heaters on. The food was unbelievably good and the beer selection was curated with care. I had one of the burgers that had the fried egg on it and it was delicious. Will definitely love to come back the next time I am in the downtown area.
Not a place I would visit again, the service was terrible, food well I can cook better than what there cooks are putting out, the Pepsi/coke was flatter than flat, and I can make a better Caesar then the bar tender So by giving a 2 start Rating I am being very generous because really it should only be 1/4 start rating
Food was hot, prices and specials were good. Server was super friendly and attentive. Dog friendly patio - but would love if they would offer water dishes!
Had a great experience. We had a very nice serve, and the food was amazing. Really good burgers and ambiance. Would recommend as a place to catch a game.
Tables of people obviously from other households and cramming people at the bar with no separation. Clearly not following safety restrictions. Very disappointing.
One of the best places to Hangout with some friends and they have very pretty waitress and their food is pretty good 9/10 bar! The best thing there is the Fry's got to try them and servers are the best very friendly and polite and pretty
So we’re at the duke for the first time. Right off the bat, Nikky makes sure that we’re taken care of. This place has it all. Billiards, darts, Jenga and most importantly, NIKKY! Thank you for your customer service and going above and beyond. Happy industry Monday
Very friendly staff and good selection on beers. I came and asked if they show the Premier League game Spurs vs Liverpool and she put it on an extra TV for me!
Great atmosphere and the food was really good. A friend and I were catching up/watching sports (hockey for me, NFL) and we were easily accommodated. Our server was very attentive.
Edit: Dropped from 5-stars to 2. This was our go-to pub for a few years. We’ve been there for playoff hockey nights when the staff were scrambling, we’ve sat out on the patio during quiet nights, we’ve played way too many rounds of Golden Tee. The owner rolls her eyes at us and admonishes us to be nice to new staff because we like to tell terrible dad jokes and tip extra to make up for it.
So it was the obvious choice for my partner’s birthday when he said he just wanted to have a few drinks with our friends. I’m not sure what was going on, the owner (who was serving us) seems flustered and frustrated from the get-go, but it looked like they were understaffed so we initially shrugged it off (anyone can have a bad day!), tried to be an easy table, and expected to wait a bit for everything.
First sign of trouble: Beer we never ordered showed up on our table and after some confusion I offered to just drink it instead of it getting wasted. Next we sat with empty glasses far longer than even the most patient person (my partner!) could excuse. Then one of our friends was leaving early his bill had several beers he hadn’t ordered and she moved them onto my partner’s bill, even though they were not his either, or anyone at our table’s.
After this confusion she started avoiding taking any more drink orders from us by simply rushing past the table avoiding eye-contact, and when we decided to just go where we could get service she argued with my partner about how much he’d had to drink. He’d had three beers over about two hours, he was perfectly capable of counting and certainly hadn’t forgotten two entire extra ones. We’ve certainly had evenings where we lost count and just paid whatever was on the bill assuming it was correct, this was not even close to one of those nights. Perhaps one was the extra she poured for us unordered, but no idea where the second came from. More than anything else the owner angrily, rudely, and patronizingly insisting that he had, in fact, drank “way more” than he had was the last straw. The mistakes were all totally forgivable, but I’ve been nicer to people I was booting out of events as a teenage security guard.
We paid the entire bill anyway, and I honestly don’t think he’ll ever want to go back to what was previously his favourite place. We salvaged the evening by hitting up the liquor store and playing video games in our apartment.old review: Currently our favourite watering hole. The food is yummy, the booze is plentiful, the staff are friendly (and tolerant!) and you can play pool, darts, and golden tee all at the same time in some complicated super-game in which the only true way to win is not to play at all.
The food is good, I order there quite often and go with friends, but today, while I was waiting for my order, I was yelled at for having a candy that was at the till. It was explained to me that you have to buy alcohol to get those. Really? FOR A CANDY!
I put it back. I was a little embarrassed but then while I was standing there, still waiting for my order, the bartender yells at me for standing at the counter. I guess I was in the way but a little understanding goes a long way. Everyone has bad days but there's no need to act that way towards a customer.
I'll think twice before going here again and the tips won't be as generous.
My friends and I go every Friday for Happy Hour. I couldn't ask for better service. They occasionally have BBQ parties, Stampede breakfasts, pig painting nights, etc. Love this place!
Went out for wings on Wed and they were really good. Good choice of sauces and really meaty. Beer tasted fresh and staff was extremely friendly and attentive
Menu is meat heavy and there's lots of steps around the bar to trip on. Good place to go for a couple drinks. The specials seem decent. Went here because of proximity to my friend's house. Staff is friendly and prompt.
