Horrible experience from start to finish Felt like my dog was just another number to make a profit off of, and to top it all off the lack of disinfection in this facility gave my puppy kennel cough and when confronted about it. They belittled me and offered to check her over for a fee. I will drive 2hrs plus before I bring so much as a mouse to this clinic. Check out Cedarwood vet if your looking for a place that actually cares about our animals.
They are my Vet when away from home, always help me with last minute meds and any other needs my puppies have. Been a customer for 20 years or so and will continue always.
My family and I just wanted to express our concerns and with how upset we are with this facility. Two of our dogs got neutered. Both are yorkies, relatively the same size. Unfortunately one of our yorkie didn’t heal properly, which caused him to not eat or avoid drinking water. We went back to this vet 3 days after his neutering. They told us that it’s common for dogs to not eat after because they are in pain, and after surgery it gets swollen. The first doctor was a female and then for the last 2 visits it was Dr. Mike. They gave us 2 types of medicine to help with the inflammatory and have our dog start eating again. One was a pill and the other was a liquid medicine. The instructions for the medicine was to give our dog 3.5 of the liquid every 24 hours for 5 consecutive days. At first we noticed that the swelling has gone down just by a TINY bit, but during those 5 days our dog started vomiting black liquid. His urine was very dark which was from the dehydration - and yet again after the 5 days, we visited the vet for the 2ND time after the neutering. They told us the EXACT same thing, they gave us more of the medicine to give to our dog. They said that this time our dog had an infection which caught us by surprise. They gave us 2 medicines again, one liquid and one pill to give to him every other day. The medicine didn’t help. It only made our dog feel worse and we brought our dog to the vet for the 3RD time. What enraged us is that, it took 3 visits to the vet for them to start doing bloodworks. My dad was at work at the time so I was the one that dropped off our dog here. I needed to leave him here because Dr. Mike said that my dog needed to be under the ivy fluids. Dr. Mike told me that when he took a blood sample it showed that our dog who was 2 YEARS OLD, HAD NEVER HAD ANY SORT OF ILLNESS OR DISEASE AND WAS VERY HEALTHY, had kidney problems and it was very severe. Our dog was under ivy fluids from 10 am-12pm, coming around 12 pm Dr. Mike, calls my dad and my I telling us that our dog has stopped responding and that he “fell asleep” and never woke up. We were EXTREMELY devastated, I had to leave her college classes early and not show up for the rest of the day. My parents had to leave work early too. We went back to PIPER CREEK VET to say our last goodbye to our beloved dog at around 2-3 pm. Our dog’s face was covered in puke, he was dirty. His eyes were open, mouth was open. Which didn’t add up to Dr. Mike’s story when he said that our dog passed away asleep. Not only that but we were disgusted that our dog wasn’t even cleaned when we visited him one last time, they had 2-3 hours to clean him up and that was the BARE MINIMUM. Dr. Mike entered the room we were in when we were saying our goodbyes and he FULLY ADMITTED that they have given him TOO MUCH MEDICATION which caused our dogs kidney to fail. I am VERY disappointed in this vet, and after this incident we switched over to a different vet. This happened Wednesday, SEPT 27TH 2023.
It happened to one of our good friends, she was the one that actually reffered us to this vet. She had her dog have a tooth taken out at this specific vet, and the same thing happened to her. The same process but fortunately she took her dog to a different vet and they were able to save him just in time. That wasn’t the case for us. It is very concerning that this happened twice, for all I know, this month. My situation and my friends situation both happened in the same month. You don’t find that very concerning? !
It’s ridiculous how everyone in this office is going to give us sympathy but cannot give us a straight answer to how our dog just died so suddenly and unexpectedly. He was only 2 years old. How could he have kidney failure? Do you not realize how upsetting this situation is? I’m sure you’ve dealt with many other patients and I hope after this post the staff should start taking care of your patients more and taking accountability. I am VERY UPSET, everyone in our family is enraged with concerns.
Did not like the morning receptionist. We brought in a dog from a rescue, and was just not a great experience. The vet who did the neuter on the other hand did a lovely job even if we didn't meet them, or any tech, or anyone other than front end staff.
Piper Creek Vet Clinic knocked it out of the park for me. I called to make an appointment for my cat to be assessed. I was able to get in same day as a new patient. Staff greeted me and were all friendly. Dr. Mike has amazing 'bedside' manor, answering all of my questions and interacting with my cat. It's clear he loves what he does, and his quirkly personality works seamlessly in this setting. I felt my cat was very well taken care of and will bring him back in the future. Thanks Piper Creek Vet!
We have been taking our 2 dogs and 2 cats to Piper Creek for the last 6 years and We have had nothing but great service, They really do care about the pets and have never overcharged us for anything. Also, the vet there has given us other options to save money if need be. Anytime we had a question we can call and they will answer the best they can. My dog had an allergic reaction one summer, and the vet didn't charge me at all to see him and get him in right away. When we got our pets fixed, they called to let us know once the procedure was done, and also called to check up on them after. I wouldn't take our babies anywhere else. We're very happy with them! Dr Greg Linnel is the best!
I have seen lots of positive change over the years taking my pet here. I wouldn’t go anywhere else. The staff are very helpful & friendly. I trust the veterinarians here.
Piper Creek Vet is the absolute best. I'm based out of Edmonton and bring my cat here for regular haircuts. Everywhere in Edmonton charges upwards of $400 for a sedation and shave. So I definitely find it worth the drive to pay $150 for a sedation and shave here.
The receptionists are extremely nice. I have seen other reviews where people have said otherwise. However, you never know what other people are going through in their day. And, if you approach with a nice tone, I'm sure you'll get it back. I feel the majority of people who complain about others attitudes, are the ones who come in with a bad attitude.
Anyway, - if you're looking for a good, reliable vet at a great price. Piper Creek is the place to go!
The vet techs at Piper Creek are fantastic. I only wish their reception/front desk staff were at even half the quality their vets are. Rude service, speaking to me like I'm stupid, and impatient with questions.
Now I haven't really been there yet but I plan on it. It has the lowest price for me to get my cat neutered. Some friends I know have given this place a high review
I've used Piper Creek Vet a couple of times and have had great service and care. I recommend anyone looking for vet services to check them out and at least get a quote to compare with other vets.
Since Greg Linnell was a vet we have went to him from, guinea pigs to extra large rescue dogs. He genuinely cares about animals. His work proves how much he loves and cares about animals. Jade is also the best front desk staff / vet tech ever. I would never go anywhere else.
The most amazing staff and drs. I feel like they really looked after my sweet boys. Unfortunately I can’t go here anymore as I moved out of province, but I highly recommend it here for your pets needs.
The worst vet in red deer, we took our airdale terrier there who was very sick with a cough gave us something for the cough I was worried about the swelling in his throat they weren't concerned in the slightest and Ghent took him to another vet rhe next day and found out he had lymphoma concer and was spread through his body. I understand they missed it but they could of cared less
Booked an appointment over the phone 4 days in advance with a vet tech. It needed to be at the end of the day due to my work schedule, the receptionist booked 4: 45 on Friday. I arrived at 4: 40 and was told the tech had left for the weekend and our appointment was at 4: 30 and that nobody in the clinic was qualified to help us. They did not call to notify me of this, and did not offer any solution, just stared at me blankly without taking any responsibility for the inconvenience. There were three receptionists behind the desk and not one of them was helpful.
Had an appointment booked for my two puppies Luna and bear for first shots and health check and was sadly turned away because they can’t get booking times right. I was told two pm Friday afternoon. Was confirmed yesterday by phone. Jan 13th. I work in Calgary and had to book the day off work to take them in. Now I’m out a days wage and my puppies are without medical attention. They wanted to rebook witch is another days wage lost. No help at all. Very disappointed.
My new Co-pilot Mae-Bell went to Piper Creek on Wednesday. The staff there are so nice. My rescue woofer was treated so gently by the Dr. It was Mae's 1st visit to a vet, and is now chipped and toenails are alot shorter. She will have her next shots in 4 weeks and spaying in Sept. No more litters for this beautiful gentle girl. She is so happy in her furever home, getting spoiled a bit for the 1st time in her 1 & 1/2 yrs. And she has a friend to play with.
Beyond words at how awesome the staff have been with my pets and me being a difficult owner. The costs have been more than reasonable and any follow ups have been beyond my expectations. A huge thank you to Dr. Linnell, Dr. Deagle and all the staff. I highly recommend this clinic for your pets needs and your piece of mind.
We have a behaviour case large breed dog and the ladies at piper creek have made our vet visits such a pleasure! They are incredibly accommodating to our boy and we can’t thank them enough for their professionalism and understanding
This place is wonderful they took such good care of my Dane during her life span and were so kind and caring when I had to put her down. They greeted my new pup with open arms and even remembered who I was and asked how I was doing. Yoir dog is in good hands here

Our dog had a case of trigeminal neuropathy, the vet recognized it pretty quick, and was very good with our pet. 10/10 hope i don't need to come here again.
I used to take all my cats here, but after having to put one down they allowed me to take a day to decide what I wanted to do. When I decided to bury him I called in advance to let them know. I expected him to be in a box - they hand them to you in a black garbage bag.you'd think they would be more sensitive to such a traumatic experience, but they made it so much worse. It took me a long time to get over this. I switched to Lomsnes and they have always been fantastic to me and my pets.
Piper Creek has been such a refreshing vet clinic. My 2 kitties and puppy child attend Piper Creek for vet services. Dr. Lauren and Dr. Mike are great. I appreciate how the staff do not up sell me unnecessarily, they are straight up with protocols, which has been lacking at other vet clinics I have been to in Red Deer. I highly recommend Piper Creek:)
Best vet in Red Deer. Takes the time to explain everything and give options. Not pushy with pharmaceuticals but educates so you can make the right decision for you and your pet. Highly recommend this vet for all your animals needs.
Vet was super friendly with me and my cat. Gave me plenty of knowledge on what was wrong with my cat and even more knowledge then I need/want but just in case I was curious or need it in the future.
Used to be amazing.now very booked up.all the time, they just send all the sick ones and emergencies to the emergency place.if theres something actually wrong with your animal.as good as they are.they dont have time for you. If you can wait3-4 days to get in.this is a great place and i should add i wouldnt know of a better place.ive been going here for about 12 years.but latetly its stressing
Best vet in the world Dr. Linnell Awesome and very polite staff. They were very busy today September 7 2019. Please rethink your negative comments if you were not there today thanks. Jay.
I really like the vet, which is why I keep bringing my pet here. The front desk staff is terrible- so rude, unhelpful on the phones, always make you feel rushed or like an inconvenience on their day for showing up for your scheduled appointment. One lady got short with me because I wouldn’t put my cat on the dog scale in a room with dogs in it.she seriously thought my cat was a dog, and got short with me about not letting her out! Will call to ask how your pet is doing and then act bothered if you ask any questions. If the doctor can be patient, helpful, and make my appointment feel valuable why does the front desk feel they can act the way they do? Always mad looks on their faces, eye rolls for basic things like asking for your receipt. Would be nice to have nice staff, especially when a lot of people are dealing with tragic times at the vet. I would take my business elsewhere at this point if I didn’t feel the vet himself was a good one.
I had to say goodbye to the second of my two dogs recently having lost the other 9 months ago. The team was amazing, sympathetic and so caring all the way through the process. Kidney disease is a horrible road to go down and these guys were with me every step of the way.
Have read some bad reviews but my personal experience has always been great. Front staff is friendly and is always helpful when I call in. Doctors are upbeat and very easy to talk with and they don't try to sell you stuff you don't need. All in all great team
They took great care of my kitten Skunk. He was a little bit feral, he was found in a alley, and they were gentle and kind to him even though he was a little different in his behavior. Amazing people. Ty
I go to Piper Creek Veterinary Clinic for my dog food My dog is on a special diet. I find what I need here. I would recommend them if your dog had special dog food requirements
I have taken both of my dogs here for almost three years and have seen a few different vets, all of which were friendly, helpful and thorough during examinations. In my experience there is never pressured sales for unnecessary procedures, medications or supplements like I have experienced at other vet offices.
Have always taken our 4 pets to Piper Creek. Although the receptionist have never had the best customer service, the vets there have always been amazing. Yesterday when faced with a life threatening emergency with our dog we loaded him in our vehicle and raced to Piper Creek. On arrival I was hysterical and asked the girls at the front for help with my dog. I told them I think he is dying. They wasted precious time looking him up in their computer and then they said "sorry you dont have an appointment and we have no openings". I was absolutley shocked. I could not believe what I was being told. I stormed out. By the time I got to another clinic it was to late and our boy had passed away. I beg everyone who reads this to never take your pets to Piper Creek Vet Clinic. They are incredibly inconsiderate. It was apparent to me yesterday that they DO NOT care for animals the way they claim to. My three remaining pets will never step foot in that clinic again.
Fantastic Staff. Very caring and friendly. They call to see how your pet is doing after procedures and have no problems answering questions. Pricing seems to be better than most places as well.
I was having a hard time finding a vets office to do bloodwork on my dog without me having to take half a day off of work. This office was super accommodating and made it easy for me. I never did meet the vet but we talked on the phone and he was very nice and the ladies at the front counter were very nice as well.
Had to bring my dog in for surgery. Had not been to a vet in town yet, was recommended by a coworker. Process was easy between the initial phone call and visit, and the surgery itself, after care was explained very well, I even received a follow up call.
Brought my cat in to get neutered. They were all very welcoming, had a good conversation with the ladies when I showed up and they took very good care of my boy. Kelsea called a few days later to check in and see how he is doing. They had amazing prices as well! Definitely will be bringing him back there for the rest of our needs!
Staff here are always so helpful and go beyond normal service. They did not have a bag of food I need on the shelf, but one of the staff dug right to the bottom of a pallet in the back to find one for me. Highly recommend.
It was a sad visit for us to visit Piper Creek today as we had to say goodbye to our furry baby. But all this stuff had so much compassion for us from the staff at the desk to our veterinarian Dr. Mike who gave us the time to say goodbye to our baby. We will always be grateful for the kindness and compassion they gave to us.
I've never really heard good things about Piper Creek until recently, so I decided to give them a shot. I called for a quote 1st, I stated my dog was over 2 yrs and between 70-80lbs. She told me it would be $333 +GST, +$89 for laser spay, +48.50 for microchip. I called to book in and gave them the EXACT same info and what I was quoted, she confirmed the price. Upon drop off I was told it was an extra $65 for her being over 1 yr. I asked how much it was going to cost me once I picked up, she calculated it and said $540, (this staff member was extremely lovely btw, no hard feelings, mis quotes happen) This was to include the spay, elective laser, microchip, cone, $65 overage charge. I had a cone, so she said to let them know at pick up and $20 would be removed from my bill. Upon pick up I was told she already had microchip and I wasn't going to be charged for that or the cone. I appreciate them pre scanning and not charging me for a chip I don't need. However, my bill was still $520 without the cone and microchip. Once I got her home my roommate, certified groomer, noticed there was some razor burn on her inner stomach/thigh. She was spayed on Friday, June 8th 2018. Saturday morning her nipples were 3x the size they're supposed to be, she couldn't walk from her bed to her water dish. (About 5 steps) Sunday was the same, she wouldn't move unless she absolutely had to and with a great deal of pain. Today I had to pull her bed outside just for her to get up and go to the bathroom. I understand she had major surgery and is going to be in pain and will be lethargic but this was not just that. I know vets are not groomers and I'm always prepared for a small/minor amount of razor burn but this was additional, unnecessary pain the vet clinic caused her to endure. Had they taken extra time and not been so heavy handed shaving with surgical 40 blade, the razor burn could have been avoided or been reduced greatly. Amber called me today to check how Ava was doing and I told her the situation and I was unimpressed. She said she would get some pain meds ready for me and I could come by to get them. When I went to pick them up this evening, they expected me to pay $30. I asked to speak to someone in charge because my dog would not have needed these extra meds had they not caused her such severe razor burn. I spoke with an older lady, short gray pixie cut, with blue eyes and glasses. She did not identify herself, when I showed her the following pictures and explained the above situation, she simply stated she would wave the fee of the meds and that the rawness around Avas nipples looked like it was only from her licking. She has been wearing a cone at night and has not been left unattended. This is not the case or cause and is an easy cop out. She handled the situation professionally, I found most of the staff to be helpful and friendly. However the sheer lack of care and consideration for my dogs health and well being is mind blowing. I didn't even receive an apology for the situation or the condition they left my dog in. I am EXTREMELY disappointed in Piper Creek Veterinary Clinic, I will not be bringing my dog or any future pets here and I recommend anyone looking into bring their pet here to continue looking.
