Great store just to visit it's kinda like going to the zoo. There's so many different types of animals/ fish / reptiles even some very adorable monkeys. They will have everything you'll need for whatever kind of animal you might have.

Staff are always friendly and willing to help, tons of selection, pet friendly. Always a good experience

Purchased aquarium from Pisces and subsequent fish. The staff have shown a great deal of patience in answering my kid's questions and helping us get a thriving environment at our house. It has been 2+ years now and we go back on a regular basis to ask more questions and get ideas for future additions.

Unfortunately I want to change my review from 5 to 1
The worst I was completely misled about size of terrarium and crested gecko, I was advised to buy biggest most expensive terrarium for juvenile gecko. Gecko has not been eating since we purchased it and the reason I was given from experienced gecko breeders is to big enclosures! I did tons of research and it is one of the main reasons why they don't eat and eventually die. I have spent 800+ $ for the setup to find out it is wrong! On top of that I could save half of what I paid from other stores. Kids really love this guy he is the part of the family now but refuses to eat and I am not sure what to do next.

Good to excellent customer service, huge selection and a fun store to visit in general, basically a small zoo.

Their prices are a bit higher than big box stores, but there's an enormous quality difference in the health of their animals (particularly fish) - I've never had an issue with a fish from Pisces, and I can't say that about fish from big box stores. So much so that I feel that Pisces fish are *in practice* cheaper once you factor in losses resulting from big box store problems.

In addition, the VASTLY better selection puts Pisces over the top - I could save a couple dollars buying a couple items at PetSmart, but they never have everything I need. I happily spend a little bit more for the quality, experience, service and selection Pisces offers

These people are super knowledgeable and happy to share their info about these cool animals! We had a great time just walking around learning about the beautiful creatures!

I love pisces but just be wary, they are not experts on their reptiles like they claim. They sold me a banded gecko months ago, it was severely under weight and had issues eating. They sold it to me as a (estimated) one year old MALE. Come to realize later that it is female and laying eggs. Wish they would know their information. She probably wasn’t eating for Pisces or myself at first as she needed extra care being egg bound, poor thing suffered for a long time at Pisces before I rescued her, and then ended up suffering with me too because I thought she was male. Really disappointed in Pisces.

Picked up the phone when it was my turn in the checkout que, waited 15+ minutes. She didn’t acknowledge me where she rang the other customers before me without a problem.

The person in the phone was a friend, as she started chit chatting chatting while i was waiting the entire time. I put my items back and had to leave empty handed.

And her sinister snicker when i walked out was to add insult to injury i sincerely hope you get disciplined or fired lady.

Good place to buy fish, a little expensive in comparison to other mom and pop stores and the staff isn't super knowledgeable it seems.

Came here for some dog treats (which we got a bunch of) - but it's like an aquarium and Zoo exhibit in there! Really cool with all the fish, and lizards etc.

Bought some fish and a couple snails a few weeks ago.was told that the snails wouldn't be able to reproduce in fresh water.and currently have for 5 tiny baby snails slinking around my FRESH WATER tank.

Always have what I need. The staff is very Is knowledgeable and helpful. Thanks to a couple of great staff members my old dog of 16 years is feeling much better! The cbd drops recommended work great, he now has a bit more skip in his step!

I have been shopping here since I moved to YYC. They helped me set up my first saltwater tank and made one of my dream pets come true!

I now have a lovely tank housing a Peacock Mantis Shrimp, and shop here for all my cats and dogs needs and have a huge selection. The best part is they participate in frequent buyers and also let you collect points to redeem.

Pisces is great. They always have what I need, and with cats, fish, and lizards in the house that's saying something.

Went in to look for a non-tracking litter. Obviously looked like I needed help because one of the staff asked if they could help, which is a nice change from so many places nowadays. We ended up spending probably 20 minutes talking about litter and about introducing a new kitten to an older cat. They were definitely busy but I never felt like the lady was trying to get away and get on with her day. Plus I got the advice I needed!

This store is amazing. Always stop here to get our Burmese Mountain dogs supplies. The selection for everything and amazing staff make it one of my favourite places to shop

Girl at cash thought she needed to lecture us on how we should be raising our puppy after questioning us on why we needed a toy for a heavy chewer. Umm sorry but we come to your store for supplies, we have our own trainers and instructors thanks. Store managers need to tell staff to stop this practice immediately or we will stop shopping here.

I have placed a couple online orders for reptile products with this company. The most recent order I spent two days annoying Rachelle with questions. She was always quick with a reply and a pleasure to deal with. I will definitely use Pisces in the future and recommend you give them a try. Especially
if looking for hard to find product.

Great selection and prices, employees are mostly polite. But finding someone to help you in the aquatic department is near impossible from the three visits I've had there. Staff are always super busy regardless of how populated the store is. I feel like keeping more personnel who show people around the store and help select products would make the experience far better.

Every time we go to Pisces, we are pleasantly greeted and assisted by amazing staff. It’s also fun to just wander through and enjoy the atmosphere and all the different animals etc. We had help today by Kaelin, who was friendly and helpful! She was amazing when we struggled to get several UPC codes to scan. Overall, we strongly recommend Pisces for all your pet needs. We go often because of service and pricing. Thanks team!

This is the best aquatic supply store in southern Alberta. I drive 3 hours one way to visit this pet store. Very knowledgeable, extremly friendly and very well staffed. There is someone there who can help you with all your questions!

Update: Thanks for responding guys! I haven't been in for a while so I'm not sure how the tetras are looking now, but knowing Pisces they've either taken care of it or are working on it. This place has easily the largest selection of aquarium stuff, at least from what I know of in Calgary. Check it out for sure!

Usually the best place, but last time I bought fish they were both sick and I even brought them back to ask if they were sick and was told they both have birth defects, well, they were sick and one died, so I brought them back again, when I went to get replacements I noticed most of the fish in there looked pretty rough and opted to go somewhere else. Hope they can get back on track soon.

The staff in the fish section are so knowledgeable especially norm the manager. Pisces has always been the best place to go for all pet needs.

Usually pretty impressed with their work but not today I found many dead or sick fish in their tanks and they very clearly ain't too worried about getting them out, also lack of workers working majority of them were standing around talking to each other not even doing their jobs, there was 3 cashiers and only 1 or them was with a customer the others where chatting it up with their friends

Great selection for aquarist. They look all pretty busy and I felt quite urged to move on with what I wanted. So I didn't like that so much as I was asking for advice and depending on my parameters I would buy this or that. So I felt a bit pushed to pick whatever. Although, if you know what you want, great choice of fish, plants, aquarium, anything you could need

Me and my boyfriend have shopped here a lot for our axolotol and have always had a good experience. Today was no exception, John helped us so much find the perfect filter for our axolotl in a bigger tank as well as giving us really great information about different plants we could use for our axolotl. Overall an amazing experience.

Based on Family experience, on Sunday, Went to this store to check on having one of their small mammals. We were Not decided yet on the type. However, when we decided on the animal, their sales team was giving us different and wrong information on the required cages.
As a customer you kind feel who should I trust and go with the first sales person or the second one who recommended more pricy cages due to the required space for the animal and was pushing for convincing on taking her advise, her tone of voice was close to, yelling at us!
I felt there was a lake of correct info from the staff to their customers on basics.
I think there should be a clear guide on each animal name tag on what is required to have/own this Pet, such as: * Cage Size, * type of Food, * other requirements that includes vaccines, store visits during the animal growing period for checkups and etc. All important info that customer need to consider before speaking to any one of the sales team for finalizing a transaction.

My advise is, do your homework very well before the store visit, dont relay on giving info that much. Also, I found that owning a Pet from "Calgary Humane Society" can be a good (less costly) idea specially for the first time Pet owners. You can avoid more costs down the road when you get one of those young Pets from the store. With current changes, customers needs to check all exist alternatives.

So many great toys and treats for my dog he loves this store and they usually give treats to my puppy when he comes with me. But last time the gentlemen noticed him and said cute pup and didn’t give him a treat as he was sitting and being a good boy?

I had a less than stellar visit today. At first I couldn’t find our new dog food because Acana was split into two areas for whatever reason. Not the biggest problem, I found it, that’s cool. But then when I got in line to pay, the end hides the first checkout counter behind a TV that’s close to 7 feet tall and all the shelves at checkout are also pretty high so it’s hard to see who’s ready, who’s not. I didn’t know anyone was there and was just waiting to be called up. I don’t know your safety Covid protocols or anything, if you sanitize between each customers what. Also I was just being courteous and waiting until they were ready. The girl in the middle checkout counter was talking to another employee. I didn’t think anything of it. Maybe they were talking scheduling or something work related. I don’t know. Then she turns around, points at the other cashier and in a very short and demeaning tone says “She’s open. ” I walk up to the cashier I couldn’t see and the customer behind me also waited to be called up. The girl in the center checkout then said “im open” in the same tone. Then either her or the girl she was talking to said “God, it’s not rocket science. ” I was ready to drop everything and buy my food elsewhere that’s closer.

Great place to find stuff for your less common exotics, and the only place I can get the insectivore diet I need without stupid high shipping costs. A trip to Calgary is never complete without stopping in to see what's new!

Great friendly service and great selection of pets and supplies. Probably the best fish department in Calgary.

I really enjoy going to this place. The guys that are working in the aquatic centre are really nice and were absolutely helpful. They gave me so much advise on how to set up my turtle tank on what to get and not to get. I learned so much going to them and would definitely recommend to get their advise before anything.

I love this place with such wide variety of pets and supply and food for every one of God's creatures such is his pets

I’ve been coming to Pisces for years now for supplies for my dog and my snake. Unfortunately it feels as if the staff doesn’t care about anything but making a sale. I asked a staff member for boot recommendations for my dog, and she suggested a pair. She even went and tried them on my dog, said they fit just like they are supposed to, and sent us on our way (also reminded us numerous times to mention her name upon checking out). Of course these were also the most expensive boots they carry. But upon her suggestion we purchased the boots, trusting that she has indeed told us the truth that they fit properly. A couple days later when the snow fell I put them on my pooch and after countless efforts they kept falling off. Seems as though the staff only cares about the price of what they sell- rather than it actually being what the customer needs.

Best pet store ever! I love the variety here and the large fresh and salt water fish selection. They have some very knowledgeable employees as well. A+

Each staff member is very knowledgeable and helpful, with an amazing selection of gorgeous fish, and other animals. The prices are far better than a certain, "Land of Pets. "

This place is absolutely amazing! My family and I went here because it was recommended to us by a family member. It did not disappoint, the staff were helpful and the store was packed for pet photos with Santa. They have a monkey enclosure and a huge variety of fish and birds. It really was an experience, my son even realised that fish were cute and their were so many to look at. I would reccomend anyone go here for their pet needs. They even had a cat adoption area as well with kittens you could hold. I totally suggest going to see for yourself.

If you're into fish, this is definitely the place to go. They have both fresh and saltwater options. A lot of the freshwater fish seemed to be the same, but they were colour coded which would make it easier to pick the ones you want. They have a lot of live plants to choose from as well as coral (etc.) and live rock.
They have a lot of filters, food, and smaller decorations. The prices are average. Expensive for some things and less for others.
Expect to spend some time here if it is your first time.
They also have pet things for other areas of interest, but I didn't look around at non-fish stuff too much.

Selection is great and the staff are always quite helpful. One thing I found however is that the goldfish are often rather depressed/lethargic looking and thin. Im an avid fancy goldfish owner and with good water conditions, proper care for illnesses and good food, goldfish are actualy very active and usually chubby. I have 4 from your store and after one week of good protein feeding they perked up and became much more active. Goldfish are difficult to keep healthy in cramped conditions but maybe your crew has some ideas to up their health.

While I do love this store, there are a few things to watch over, I wouldn't fully trust them for stocking advice and you should double check with a good online forum for other opinions before you purchase livestock. And there prices on aquarium equipment are astronomical compared to online stores.

Been going here since a child and there old location. We come for the wide selection of products, to talk to knowledgeable staff, and some times just to kill time as there is so much to look at here. Like you can’t go wrong with monkeys, that waterfall, all the little critters, and some amazing display tanks.

Love coming here. It's always my go to place to buy anything and everything for my animals when I can. Would really like it if there was more of a selection for exotic animals, but it's not a deal breaker.

One thing I wish would change is that when I'm looking at buying fish sometimes I'll spend 10-20 mins waiting around for someone to ask if I need help. Now I know that I can ask for help, but it's all tracked for who helped the customer so I prefer for someome to make the effort to do a simple "has anyone helped you? " or "is there something I can do? "

Other than that this is my favourite store in the entire city, it was even a place I brought my visiting grandparents lol.

The staff at Pisces are very knowledgeable and helpful. The selection is great. I gave this 4 stars as the parking is not great and the store seems crowded with narrow aisles.

If I could do no stars I would, this place treats their employees with a lot of disrespect. I watched a manager embarrass an employee right in front of me. You guys lost my business

Ooh I love this place it's freaken huge man. Yeh it's a ways drive from my place but its so worth it. They carry things here that u wouldn't find anywhere else. Expensive yes but quality demands such, so it's acceptable.

Also I've seen some pretty nice exotic animals here, lot of variety. I've wanted to buy this parrot from them for a while now, but hesitate as i'm not quite sure if now is the time for it. If I do decide though, it will be purchased through them.

I should also add they take really good care of the store. It's very well maintained and looks great any time of the day u visit, just top notch and always full with products. Great staff good store what more can I say? Should definately come down & visit this place if you have not yet. You won't be disappointed.

The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. The fish were active and healthy and well stocked in variety. They informed me of up coming info sessions. They did however have things blocking an isle but I also found treats for my dog that I haven't seen elsewhere. Overall a good experience.

Pisces is awesome! It is just by the far the only truly trustworthy supplier of tropical, marine, and pond fish in Calgary. The staff are knowledgeable and very helpful, interested about their jobs, and friendly.

This place is absolutely amazing even if you do not have a pet you must go to the store and check it out. They have a very large turtle and monkeys and all sorts of other animals you would do your children a favor by taking them to the store for a visit make sure to take your camera

Breanna #14 was amazing. I hope the owners read this. She was so kind and knowledgeable about the birds, she was patient in answering all of our questions and getting us set up for our new family member. I haven't experienced customer service like that in Calgary in many years. Breanna should be given an award for one of the friendliest and most helpful people in the City of Calgary. I was so moved by her kindness, knowledge and support that I couldn't help but write this review. OF COURSE, we love Pisces and use them for all of our K9, Aquatic and now Aviary needs.and Pisces gets 5-stars too.but this review is for Breanna!
