Plant it Modern

I picked up a plant I ordered online about a month ago, only to get it home to find it is infested with millipedes. There are hundreds in this plant and I have had to quarantine and treat the plant for a month now, and they still keep coming. Since my newly bought plant has to be quarantined in a the bath room, it is struggling because it is having to survive on LED lighting. It is starting to look like I will likely lose the plant if I cant get rid of this infestation soon. Super unimpressed I was given a plant with such a bad infestation.

In response to the reply from the owner below, I am aware millipedes are not bad for the plant, but I don't think anyone wants hundreds of millepiedes running around their house. As for the email, your return policy said final sale so I wasn't aware I would be able to return or exchange it. Had I known, I would have definitely reached out

Customer Service is hit or miss. I had initially contacted them about cancelling an item in my order and they were beyond wonderful. I had asked them if I needed to be home for my deliver and received no response. I received my Sansevaria Bantel sensation, and it had signs of overwatering and root rot. Some of the leaves were getting mushy I checked the roots immediately and a lot of the rooting system for this plant was in awful condition. I’ve had it for about a week and the plants still getting soft yellow leaves that I need to get rid of.
I sent them a message with pictures on that day and have not received a response.

Great selection of plants and friendly staff! I think their prices are reasonable considering it’s a locally owned business and that the cost of shipping certain plants in is more. They also have a couple super cute dogs always hanging around

I received my first order from Plant it Modern today, and I only ordered it yesterday. I live west of Calgary so I give them points for fast delivery. They also get points for the selection of interesting plants. Price is high for the specimen you receive, I am expecting to have to acclimate my plant, I had to clean it free debris and a little webbing. Don’t be disappointed if there is some damage, I suspect these plants may not ship well from their origin. The purchase is still worth it to me as I am a collector, and the customer service was great. A big thank you to Gordie, I had to ask him to ring my neighbor and leave my package there, he was very nice about it. I didn’t expect the fast shipment. I look forward to seeing the shop in person!

I ordered a couple sansevierias (rare ones) from Plant it Modern. I was VERY impressed with all aspects of ordering from them and the plants are truly beautiful. The packaging was PERFECT, plants arrived in great condition, and the shipping was VERY fast. I will absolutely order from them again.

I absolutely love Plant It Modern. They have lots of different types of plants! I live far from the store so I don't have a choice but to get my plants delivered every time and I have never had a problem with delivery. They show up when they say they will show up. They have good customer service whether it be through e-mail or over instagram direct message. The plants are always of good quality!

I saw someone had mentioned plant it modern on twitter, so I decided to take a peek, and they have so many of the plants I am searching for. So of course I ordered, and arranged for pickup. Then I forgot all about my order because life. After a gentle reminder email, I asked if I could change to delivery, which was honoured right away and my beautiful plants arrived the next day. They're healthy, gorgeous and making friends with their new plant siblings. I will be ordering again because there are so many must haves that I must have.

Absolutely amazing location. Has lots of plants You won't see anywhere else. The staff is so knowledgeable and kind! If you haven't been here you need to go! It's a must!

Although I have never been to the Plant It Modern store, I have had experiences with them regarding shipping plants from Foot Hills, AB to Toronto, ON.

The plants were picked up on a Monday and arrived at my doorstep on Thursday that same week.

I was very impressed by how the plants were packed and the great condition they were in when they arrived.

It had been very hot (29 degrees Celsius at average) during that week and I was worried that they would be overheated; however, upon arrival, the plants were a little thirsty, but otherwise, excellent condition.

The shipping is steeper than I would have liked, but when shipping live plants across the country, it needs to arrive quickly, so I can completely understand the pricing.

Overall, Plant it Modern was great. Glenda was very nice and the service and amazing. I would order from them again!

Ordered two plants from Plant It Modern online about a month and a half ago. Having my plants delivered was awesome! They came in such great condition and have been flourishing since I got them. Price was great too!

We visit Plant It Modern almost every week for the last 4 months and it’s such a pleasure to have met Glenda and the whole team. Thank you for always making us feel welcome! She always take time to chat and just catch up. This is why I always bring family and friends over to see her Plant Shop and that I support small local businesses and I support Glenda and team. No issues with anything purchased, just the atmosphere of the place was really off. Employees didn’t make eye contact when we were speaking with them. Likely won’t return.

Always a pleasure head into this plant shop. They have a great selection of plants and are very knowledgeable. My wife and I have gotten to know Glenda very well over the past few months and appreciate her friendship and support of local small business. Thank you Glenda and crew.

Severe spider mite issue.
No one responds to emails, they ghost their customers when issues arise. Tried to contact and they choose not to reply.

Plant It Modern is by far my most favorite greenhouse to go to. They always have the plant I'm looking for at reasonable prices despite being a rare tropical greenhouse. They respect personal choice and they encourage you to do what you feel comfortable doing. Everyone I've met here has been an absolute pleasure to deal with, and I suggest Plant It Modern to every plant enthusiast I know. Highly recommend checking it out, even if it is for just a walk around looking at the beautiful plants they offer! (not to mention the incredible state of all the plants offered, I've not seen one in bad condition)

If you’re looking for good-sized, healthy, beautiful or hard-to-find plants, I highly recommend checking out Plant It Modern. This cute plant shop is an absolute dream and every time I go, I literally feel like I’m entering into a plant oasis. Glenda is also super helpful, kind and professional. You can tell she really cares and is passionate about high-quality plants. If you live in Calgary, this plant shop is really worth the drive!

Sadly, I received a Sansevieria (Snake plant or cousin of) as a gift. It was placed in a small pot with very little soil. Due to the structure of the plant, tall and thin, it capsized during delivery and was lying sideways on the ground, not a great delivery. I returned the soil to the pot, but with all dirt returned, it was still less than 2/3 full. Even after packing down the dirt around the plant it could not stand up on its own. I will have to add a fair bit of soil, to render it stable. This plant was $48.06 with tax and delivery to Calgary. Most certainly not good value for the money. The plant is healthy, so that is good. I love plants, just not highway robbery.

Have ordered online a couple times from here, but finally got to go into the shop today. Was a wonderful experience- plants and selection were fantastic, and customer service went above and beyond for me. So thankful for a little slice of plant heaven right now. Thank you so much!

I wouldn’t even give this plant store a one star however, that was the only option. They have the WORST customer service I have ever had to deal with in my life and they threaten their customers. I received my order and amongst the items was a plant I didn’t even order but charged for, a rotting cactus, and a broken pot. When I brought this to their attention both the owner Glenda and their customer service rep they said they would not refund me. They also didn’t offer to send the correct plant that I was originally charged for but not sent. They also did not apologize for their error. I supplied lots of photos too of how the items arrived to me which is really unacceptable. I don’t know how any business would feel proud to ship these items out. There are so many other plant places to choose from and I don’t advise anyone to shop here or order from here and go elsewhere! I wish I had read previous reviews that have been posted in other plant groups warning about this company and saved myself the headache. They are known for shipping dead plants and poor customer service apparently!

**Edited to add to the response posted below: I have received an email from the company after providing tracking information and sending back the damaged items/rotting cactus at their request. They said should I do that, that they would offer a full refund. Now, they are saying that the offer is no longer valid as the items could be “contaminated. ” Such non sense!

If you love plants, it is 100% worth the drive to visit this place.the store was stocked top to bottom, with many coveted plants I've never seen in person in other Alberta shops.the owner was very helpful and genuine with us. I'll definitely be coming back and / or ordering online!:)

This is my favorite plant shop!

Always a fun selection of plants and pots, I travel 2 hours to shop here so that I can browse in person and chat with the owner! I love the atmosphere as a locally owned and operated store, you can tell that they care and take pride in their business. Most of my plants are from here and they are all doing great. Everyone has been very helpful and knowledgeable, quick to address any questions or concerns I've had.

I always look forward to my next visit

The owner Glenda is so wonderful and the selection at the shop is always top notch. I have never been let down by any of the plants I've purchased from here. The drive is worth it! Delivery is also an option if its a little far.

I have been buying from Plant It Modern since they first started selling plants and have literally hundreds of plants from them - I am ALWAYS satisfied with the service and selection - the plants they get in are harder to find at other plant stores and I love being able to support local. I came across this store on a facebook page and desided to give them a try. I'm glad I did, my plants are BEAUTIFUL! Their plants are priced reasonably which is hard to find in this market, and they have a wide range of plants for every level of plant parenting. I am happy with how they were packaged, no damage at all! I will be ordering again! Thanks so much for all your hard work and getting beautiful plants to the people

Plant it Modern is a great and cozy plant store! Although, it's currently on the smaller side, they have quite a bit of variety of plants. The owner is really friendly, knowledgeable and personable as well. Even though it's quite the drive away for me, I'd definitely go back!
