Crazy amount of selection to see. Decent prices. They offer a fair price when selling you good used clothing.

I was on break at work and decided to go quickly buy some leggings as I'm pregnant and getting bigger.the 3 out of 4 leggings I bought are Lululemon and all had holes. I threw away the tags to wash them before wearing, so obviously I cannot go back and return them due to the policy.but this is just annoying. I guess I should have checked (and I usually do) but I was time limited this time and didn't check.
I'm just disappointed as I wasted my money and cannot get it back.and if I sell them back they won't take them due to hole (if they even see them)

Had interactions with 3 employees. Didn't take anything which was kind meh. 2 employees were fine. The other was a super greasy teen wearing Shein who somehow found it funny they didn't take anything. She wouldn't look me in the eye when I asked her why she was laughing.

Other 2 employees were professional and courteous.

I've heard this location is notoriously bad for this type of thing.

Second time coming to this location and I would not recommend it! The youth that are staffed at this location are not very welcoming. They also do not provide baskets to put your items in. Some of the footwear on the shelves were “DIRTY” inside and out (dirt, mud, hair and debris on the inside, and the also had dirt.beyond what would be normal wear and tare.bottoms as well). Overcharging on some items. For example, there was an item with a value Village price tag for 10.49, Plato’s staff tagged it for $12.00. I would like to ask the Manager how much time she spends training her employees? And teach customers etiquette.

Terrible experience - I brought in over 50 pairs of shoes, all purchased within the last 10 months, very gently used and they wouldn't take any of them, claiming they were not purchased within the past year. Some of them are worth more than $500 each, but apparently are worthless. 5 pairs were also not returned to me and I needed to go back to get them; they were the most expensive ones, I don't think that was a coincidence.

I had a poor shopping experience today, me and a friend came in 30 mins before closing and received 4 reminders of the time before I had been there for 15 mins. The worker rudely told my friend that she needs to pay when there was 8 minutes until closing. The worst part was that we paid by 8: 57 and another worker followed us out and passive aggressively liked the door behind us. I Definitely feel like if the owner was there they would have treated us better and wouldn’t have been so mad about having to work until the end of their shift.

I had a positive first experience selling at Plato's this morning. It wasn't even that they took many items, but the girls took the time to answer my questions, give me feedback and even offer other selling suggestions that I hadn't thought of. Working at a similar business, I understand complaints about few items being taken. What the store takes is always a bit subjective depending on who's working that day - moreover, changing inventory needs and navigating a business with a high employee turnover make it extremely challenging to maintain consistency. But the girls working today were quick, helpful and professional and took the time to explain why they weren't taking certain things - that's why I will return to sell at Plato's again. I don't know who these 'bratty teenagers' are that people have been complaining about, but perhaps they just weren't working today:)

This is my favourite location out of the three in Calgary. I have noticed a few times that the staff in the evening don’t turn on the open sign, I’m assuming to give the illusion to those driving by that they are closed. The staff working this evening, Nov 1st, were quite noticeably rude. My friend asked for the change room around 7: 45pm, and the girl made it seem as though it was an inconvenience to her. We were 2 of like 5 people in the store with 3-4 staff working, with over an hour before closing. Then around 8: 15pm we went to check out and the one girl brought clothes from the rack by the dressing room and was very annoyed to have to put away the clothing, the girl checking us out rudely said out loud “Are you serious” and my friend and I were quite uncomfortable with the whole situation.

The cleanliness of the store is great, the amount of brands, etc is great. Usually the staff is great as well although we were quite disappointed in the attitude of the staff that we encountered this evening.

I had the exact experience that 90% of the reviewers had:
- only the top 4-5 items in my very large bin were looked at (those items were messy and the rest were exactly as I had folded them)
- I was told that my items were either "low demand" or "not for a young enough demographic". However, I saw many similar items (crop tops and rompers) in the store. Also, when did Lululemon because a low demand item?
- Cheap mass-produced Shein items were on the racks selling for way more than they're worth
- extremely unfriendly staff
- nothing was taken in the end, even though I had many trendy and new or almost new clothing items.
Conclusion: absolute waste of time

Brought in freshly cleaned pieces from Lululemon and Aritzia, walked around the store and saw stained clothes that weren't clean. I saw holes in clothes, makeup stains etc. They didn't want my clean clothes. Overpriced Value Village.

Bunch of bratty teenagers depicting if your clothes are worth anything. When you walk in they give you dirty looks and have the worst attitudes. Not to mention they’re LAZY. They won’t even look through your bag. I brought a bag in and less than 20 min later they said it was all finished and they rejected all my articles of clothing, but when i looked in my bag all my clothes were folded as they were before in the same spots. They don’t look at your stuff plus a lot of their items are dirty, i saw a pair of shoes (overpriced of course) and they didn’t even BOTHER to clean them. Gross!

I have heard that Plato’s is notorious for being discriminatory and so even before going, I felt on edge. As soon as I walked in with my little brother, I was met with the dirtiest looks and immediately felt uncomfortable and had a bad feeling.
When I went to speak to the person about selling clothing - not only did she just have the worst attitude but they said it would take 40 mins to go through all the clothes (i brought 4 bags) - less than 10 mins later they said it was done and that they didn’t take anything bc of “stains and imperfections” and “unteen like” (they were all brand new or newish clothing from their list of wanted items and clothing styles) & i checked all the clothing before and there was no rips, stains or anything of damage. After leaving, my little brother told me to check to see if they had even looked at my stuff. Everything minus the top pieces were exactly how i put them in- so they were not even looked at. Would not ever go here again.

Not worth the time taking things there.all of my stuff was basically brand new, some with tags and they said it was outdated and had too much wear and tear. 90% of the stuff they have on the racks is more outdated and wore out then what I had.

Not worth your time. They offer very little money for items and my bag was returned to me with the most expensive article of clothing missing. They offered me a $5 credit as compensation for the missing item.

Brought in brand name items such as lululemon, Nike, puma, etc and they say it’s not being accepted. When on the site it states those are the brands they buy and they are asking for athletic wear. Never again.

I think the concept of this store is great. It’s sort of a higher end thrift store that will make cash offers on your items. Prices of items on the sales floor seemed quite reasonable overall. Staff were working hard to help customers and sort through items to make offers on. I did notice that some items, particularly shoes, don’t seem to be cleaned before being put out.

My main issue stems from their buying guide - we followed it to the letter and brought in a bin full of popular brand name clothing, shoes and accessories. After waiting an hour (which I have no complaints about, the staff work quickly despite the sheer amount of items to sort through while also helping customers) we were offered $7 cash for only three of the items we brought in; two t-shirts and a sweater. It just didn’t feel worthwhile bringing in as much as we did as most of the items were rejected. The reason given for the rejected items was: “your items don’t suit our younger clientele” which didn’t really line up as everything we brought in was similar to what was already on the sales floor in terms of styles and brands or was specifically mentioned in their buying guide.

Your mileage may very with their offers but it’s worth a shot to try for some cash before taking your items elsewhere for donation.

Since when Plato's Closet became a teenage safe haven? Not impressed with the rebranding and new service!

I been a loyal customer selling and buying for years now. I went to Plato’s elbow drive today on my only day off to do some shopping, shopped around for over an hour on my busy day to be told I can’t use the change room 10 mins before they close! I got a warning about 15 mins before they closed telling me they are closing so I rushed to the fitting room to try on a handful of clothes hands full. They didn’t allow me to try them on even though I said I will be 2 mins. Wasted an hour of driving there and an hour and a half of shopping around. Please tell people that your fitting rooms close 10 mins before so they don’t waste their time.

Disappointed. The young staff there don't seem to have great people skills or customer service. Its hard to find someone to get you a fitting room and you end up standing waiting at the cash out awkwardly while they fight over who is on till at that time. Its clear the staff don't want to be there.

I brought a bag full of name brand clothes such as Hot Topic, H&M, TopShop, Ardene, Bench, Guess and Dollskill and they rejected my entire bag because of "low demand". Many of these clothes still had tags on them as well. While I was looking around I found so many pieces that looked "out of style" that they had accepted. Was a total waste of time. I feel like the employees only judge clothes based on their own taste and what they'd wear themselves. No consideration for non "basic" clothing/styles. Disappointing and won't be back to shop:/

Brought in 2 overflowing baskets of items today. Folded & clean. Not a single thing taken. “Out of style” lululemon that’s still being sold today? Whatever. Not the issue. The issue is the fact that it was thrown back into the baskets like dirty laundry. Anything still folded was folded the same way I folded it, which means they didn’t even look at it. Won’t waste my time or my breath again. The girls working had zero people skills, you were not greeted, or addressed in the slightest.

Went here with large perfect quality mens cloths went to pick up they lied and took more than what they said so I got ripped off and also all my stuff was folded they shoved it in all messy and not how I gave it to them. They were not busy at all the store was dead empty and they took an hour and 30 min. DO NOT SELL YOUR STUFF HERE AT ALL NOT WORTH IT

Rude and unprofessional employees. If I could give 0 I would. Go to the north west location!

I've been shopping here for a few years, and used to bring in a bin of clothes and get a great offer for lots of my items and always find good stuff to buy. The last year or so they've been EXTREMELY picky with drop offs, but their choices make no sense. It also depends who's working for how much/what they take. Browsing the racks you'll find stained, pilled, worn, ripped, outdated clothing and the odd good thing. Still a decent place to shop second hand, but don't waste your time dropping clothes off - the selling process has gone downhill.
