Play It Again Sports (Red Deer)

I have been going here for years now and never had a bad experience. They are really helpful and you be the customer (not pushy). Buying hockey equipment and snowboarding equipment my my ever growing kid is a must and this place always hooks me up. Owner is great, dog is great and staff are great! Keep up the awesome work!

If I could give 0 stars I would! Wow customer service sucks and the male staff are extremely rude! The atmosphere was like someone had died. Won’t even call to complain about one of the guys because from the reviews I don’t wanna talk to the owner.

Would never come here again, extremely rude to my children who are very well behaved in public, for simply picking up a ball we were going to purchase. Take your business else where!

Male staff are very rude and unfriendly. For a store that generates revenue by having customers, it seems a bit strange that they would alienate people that are in their store. The constant confrontational responses from the store owner criticizing the parenting skills of customers is a fair representation of the treatment I received as well. Perhaps said owner would like to criticize me in my lack of punctuation.
Anyways I will NEVER spend my money in this store. I would rather support any other sporting business in red deer then step into this establishment again.
And no this is not a fake review.

If I could give this store 0 stars I would. We were about to make a purchase of $300 worth of gear (skates, stick, pads) until the OWNER came over (sales staff was all nice). Most abrasive and rude man. Do not bring your business here. I would pay full price every day to avoid the owner and bringing business to this shop.

Edited to add: In referring to my two year old, who did absolutely nothing wrong but pick up a badminton racket, the owner proves my point. He is incredibly rude and disrespectful to customers. My two year old is in fact better behaved, and has a more extensive vocabulary than the owner of this store. I’ll parent my own kids. Stay in your lane.

Terrible customer service. Was told a $500 bat had 1 year warranty. My daughter heard the same thing. Second bat lasted 3 weeks and was told I had a good deal for you on another bat. Made me feel like it was my issue. Just to add when we took the first bat back that had a defect we were told that we had a full one year warranty from the time of purchase if there was a problem with second. I had that clarified as well. My daughter also can vouch that he said this. You wonder why a customer gets upset. I know if it was my store I would at least try to help the customer given 2 bats lasted a total of 6 weeks. If you know there is a quality problem with the bats don’t continue to sell them.

Great service, fastest skate sharpener I’ve ever been too, and the owner, Chris, and his dog Alfie, are true businessmen.

I came to Google to find out what time the store is open until today and somehow got lost reading (and strangely enjoying) the comments. I might as well add my 2 cents since I have read so many.

Play It Again Sports has been our go-to for everything skating/hockey for many years. I have been disappointed by how little I could get on trade ins (that, if I am being honest, I wasn't surprised weren't worth anything), and pleased by the things that were worth more than I expected. It is a business. I get it.

The staff was incredibly helpful with getting my son's hockey equipment when I had to do it on my own this year. Even though I am clueless about hockey equipment, they never made me feel stupid about the questions I had to ask. When it was evident after one ice time that the shin guards we bought were causing my son pain, I went back immediately and was able to trade for a better fit.

Of all the times I have been there, I have only walked away once feeling unhappy with the service received. Maybe it was a bad employee. Maybe I was having a bad day. Who knows.

Anyway. Thanks for reading my novel of a review. I look forward to heading to Play It Again Sports this afternoon to get my daughter ready for her first year of ball. I know I will find what I need at a decent price and that the staff will treat us well.

I called ahead, asked if they had stock in what I was looking for, the gentleman confirmed they did, and I went in the next day. The employees showed me exactly where to find the items, let me try everything on and take my time, and were great to deal with. 10/10 would recommend. Got great deals too.

Went in twice today Jan 29 and found the pricing a lot better then other places and very friendly amazing atmosphere will go back again.

I went there yesterday and purchased $290 worth of skating equipment for my kids. It was a bit expensive but I understand the need to make a living. The sales staff were amazing, but the 2 star rating is for the owner. He was rude and seemed absolutely miserable. I was telling my friend about it today and she said her experience was awful there as well. I won’t be going there again. This was my second experience there and my last. The first time I hoped was just a bad day, but after yesterday, and reading not only the reviews on this page but the review reply’s from the owner, I see no reason to give them my business again. This is a tough economy right now and great customer service especially from management can go a very long way.

Top notch service, the folks here are always excellent! Another year of helpful advice & friendly faces!

Find it a bit pricy for used items and showed us most expensive hockey sticks first but overall decent

Awesome service and their golden retrievers are gorgeous! Super knowledgeable, we were in and out in a few minutes even though it was really busy- the only sensible place for me to get all my kids' skates. Thanks so much!
