Best deli in Calgary, one of the best polish stores in Canada. Fantastic polish food from their cafeteria.

Love to shop at Polcan. Excellent sausage and meat products. However, the customer service is terrible. The ladies at the deli prefer to chat with each other rather then taking care of customers. It seems every customer is a very unpleasant interuption of their socializing.

Really really good. I love their ground beef and pork. They are so much better than local big brand stores (Safeway, Sobey and whatever stores). Also sausages, too.

One of the best European stores. Lots of delicious sausage and meat. Pleasant staff who will always help you choose food for any age.

The hot food is excellent! The chicken cutlet with mushroom gravy was our favourite. Great pirogies for the kids.

Love coming here. My favourite place for polish sausages. Their restaurant serves great polish food, fresh and tasty. Great variation too. Nice people work here as well

If you are looking for high quality and delicious deli meat at reasonable prices, this is the place to go! They make near everything in house and they are always busy so you know it’s fresh. Judging by the shear volume of product they go through, things don’t sit in their deli for too long.

In regards to customer service, I’d like to address some of the negative reviews stating that staff are rude. Like many, in the past, I always felt really uncomfortable because the staff didn’t smile, their tone wasn’t friendly, etc.it’s absolutely a different customer service experience than what most Canadians are used to. However, despite this I would not say the staff are rude. They are actually being neutral. However against the backdrop of the Canadian culture of bubbly smiles and constant apologies, the juxtaposition of a neutral and non smiling non bubbly person is perceived as rude. It’s not. It’s actually quite common in Europe. After I lived in London England for a period of time and spent some time in Paris this juxtaposition was also very apparent when I came back to Canada. I guess at the end of the day, don’t take it personally that you didn’t get a smile and chalk it up to getting a very authentic European experience? Lol.

I will say that the friendliness of their staff has improved significantly over the years as they get younger and younger staff working behind the counter.

In terms of the hot food, it’s good but not a wow factor. Just my opinion. Of course nothing beats mom’s cooking, so I am a bit biased.

Regardless of how you feel about the ladies behind the counter, or the hot food, their deli products can’t be beat. For that reason, I will always be a loyal customer and supporter of this business.

Also I appreciate the authenticity. Not everything has to be westernized all the time.

As a laugh maybe they should turn up the dial with the “rudeness” and turn it into a fun “want to experience a bit of communist era polish customer service, come to Polcan” With a disclaimer at the door that it’s an act. You know like that restaurant where the staff purposely insult you? Lol. In communist times the ladies behind the counter had all the power because everything was so scarce and the shelves were empty. Good customer service was not a requirement. It’s no wonder that perhaps, on a subconscious level, some of that mentality is still ingrained in the older ladies who work there.

Best deli meats/sausages I've ever tried. I've had other local style meats in small towns, cities, etc and nothing compares to this place. Store is nicely laid out and clean and service has always been great. It can get busy as it is very popular (for good reason) and so sometimes lines are long but the quality of the meat is so worth it. I don't live super close to it so often stock up and freeze it so I have some on hand as I now can't stand grocery store garlic sausage after having theirs.

Overcrowded and no Covid protocols followed even signs were posted, did not feel safe in the store, long crowded lineup to deli from the door, staff not wearing mask and not washing hands between customers. Ladies behind counter were rude, should learn customer service skills.

Since my buddy introduced me to this place I go there pretty often. Great variety of European brands. I also love the variety of hot meals they offer. Perogies and Potato Pancakes are my favourite ️

The fresh meat is top-notch; just like in the old days when you shopped at a different store for each specialty item. Butcher for meat, cheese shop for cheese, bakery for bread, and so on. Polcan't cold cuts and sausages are delicious. They make their own stuff and you can really taste it. I stop there every time I'm in Calgary!

Never been to this Deli but can tell the people complaining about the service.you should try actually going to a shop and asking for help in my motherland, Poland haha. We often laugh about it amongst my family and relatives. Being a Polish girl who visited her Babcia enough over her lifetime of summers, this kind of service is misunderstood. Be patient. I'm moving to Calgary and cannot be more assured that I'll be able to continue having Kapusta, Beets with horseradish and Rosoł with thanks to the best flavoured bouillon cubes.

Great selection, excellent deli the meanest most dismissive staff ever.

The staff must hate their lives and want to take it out on the public.

Honestly this store would be great if it wasn't for the extremely rude and hostile ladies who work there.

I walked into the store and stood by the counter waiting for someone to notice me. Everyone of the workers looked at me but never actually said anything. Once I had actively made eye contact with one lady she looked at me and with an attitude said "can I help you? "
Then when I said yes I think so, she started wagging her finger telling me I was standing in the wrong place.like ok lol

I was looking for a certain deli product which I was able to buy at another polish store. I told them the name and they looked at me like I was stupid. They told me I was in a polish store like I didn't know where I was ‍️ which made me feel even more stupid right off the bat.

Then the lady continued to argue her point of what I was asking for doesn't exist or isn't polish and she doesn't know what I am talking about when I was only asking for help.

This completely turned me off of ever returning and letting my friends and family know not to stop at a place where they don't even welcome fellow Europeans and make you feel like you are an inconvenience.

I picked up some Polish sausage today. I have yet to try it. (Update: it was excellent. Firm, meaty, well flavoured.) I was excited to come here based on a colleague's recommendation. However one of the ladies behind the deli counter had her mask hanging from her ear the entire time that I was waiting in line. It got worse. She came to relieve the cashier at the till and I was the first person that she served. I realize that the masked mandate may soon be lifted. However until that time I have certain expectations from a grocery store and from what appeared to be a senior member of the staff. Count me unimpressed. I don't think that I shall return.

Good Food but staff don't wash hands before serving cooked food. So until they practice hand washing. Polcan gets 2 stars

Very pool customer service. I have waited for 15 minutes.they absolutely ignored me. I will never recommend this store to anyone.

Decent European store but staff are rude and not welcoming. Maybe because in not a regular or not polish? I'm not likely to return.
