Don’t waste your time interviewing or following up after an interview. The E. D and his executive assistant cannot even respond to a simple follow up. Bad reviews on glass door with their poor culture and bullying and lack of support. Very unprofessional and terrible communications.

I completed both the 42 Day & 90 Day programs. I recommend both programs, I got to learn so much about myself and my addiction thru these programs along with having cultural & spirituality involved. I’ve met so many amazing people while being at PML. Your not gonna find another treatment centre like poundmakers. The staff and counsellors make it possible for clients to attend special culture events / ceremonies. They have outside visiting as well as FaceTime and zoom visits once a week. The food is great, always lots of options. The morning staff are amazing people always helping you with anything you need. The evening staff are super fun and flexible with your needs as well as keeping you accountable for you actions. Anytime I had a concern the staff immediately helped me resolve it. BUT you must take it upon yourself to ask questions, ask clients during roll call or even anyone in the hall if your confused about the schedule.

Life Changing. My experience and memories of Poundmaker are existential to my recovery. The knowledge of understanding the history of the indigenous community was a huge part of my recovery. Hiy Hiy.

My son was excited to be able to get into Poundmakers. He was kicked out less than 2 weeks after getting into a disagreement with a staff member. Nothing physical just yelling at each other. One would think the staff would have some patience with drug/alcohol addicts that are fighting for their lives. Of course these people are grumpy and on edge, are the staff not trained for this?
I’m sure Poundmakers got their check for the program he was suppose take.
From a broken hearted parent.

Poundmaker's Lodge has been around for decades and is a Indigenous treatment centre with a mix of indigenous and no indigenous staff and clients. Unfortunately, most of the non-indigenous staff do not take part in the ceremonies and activities even though they work in an indigenous treatment centre. My question to the non-indigenous staff.if you're not willing to learn, participate and be open to our ceremonies and activities then why are you working there in the first place? Are you just there to collect your pay cheques? If you want to work in a treatment centre then work in a non-indigenous environment. Poundmaker's really needs to make workshops and participation mandatory upon hiring regardless of their ethnicity. In the white work world all of us have to comply with the policies and procedure upon hiring otherwise we don't get hired. I would say to the Director of Poundmaker's if you really want to honour the name of Poundmaker then make it mandatory upon hiring for all staff to learn, participate in workshops and ceremonies that you offer. Being an Indian isn't a spectator sport.it's living and walking the talk everyday of our lives. Remember, you all have jobs and pay cheques because of the clients. Without the clients.you wouldn't have jobs. And to the clients, if you don't wanna participate in our ceremonies and activities then stop taking up valuable space away from our relatives who want to heal. There are hundreds of non-indigenous treatment centres available to you.ekosiptama!

Just recently graduated from the 90 day program. This place is awesome, I’ve learned so much about my addiction and myself while there. I received tons of great support from all the staff there. I recommend anyone apply to go there if they’re seeking treatment. Poundmakers saved life and it can save yours too!

I have been to this treatment centre. It was very good except for the addictions councilour I had.
I have been trying to advocate for a friend who is Indigenous, has sever cerebral palsy, has developed and addiction, and needs help.
I called to follow up on his application from April.
I was treated in a bizarre and rude manner from the admissions person I spoke to.
They have incorrect information on him and wouldn't change it. This person is also transgender.
When I originally spoke with someone there they said they could not take him, because of his disability. I told them his home care workers could come in in the morning and evening to take care of him. They said this condition would not work. They actually lied to me and to him about why he was not being accepted, saying it was an accessability issue which it was not.
I fail to understand the lack of humanity here. If I could give lower than a one start review I would.

I attended Poundmakers 10 and 11 years ago, I found the staff helpful, kind and supportive. If it wasn't for this treatment center I wouldn't be 10 years sober.

Lot of ppl there expecting court dates, some staff treat you like we all have court dates, wasn’t expecting that, feels like a mill, but still, stay focused should do ok,

Pretty decent counseling, great food. Be warned that there's over 100 clients in there now so it can get chaotic daily, it's basically lockdown. No visits or weekend passes because of covid. I'd reccomend as much sobriety beforehand because the wait time for medications can take up to hour. Lots of standing

Called this business today and The lady who at reception desk was soooooo rude. I can’t believe it. Don’t waste your time and money doing business with people like this. Wow. I won’t even give one star!

When you're in the smudge room, don't be afraid to envoke the name of Jesus, and use His name before Amen.
For you're in a strange place of prayer unto the Lord surrounded by many different beliefs, in a pagan place of gathering for the grand architect.

I just graduated the 90 day program here on Dec 23rd, 2020. I have been to treatment many times, but this Treatment Center was the first one I willingly went to and it has already changed my life. I didn’t grow up in the aboriginal culture, but I felt so accepted here. I finally created a connection to my spirituality. The staff and counsellors here are amazing! They are so understanding and make being there better. There definitely can be some drama, mainly between the girls, but while I was there I saw it transition from cliques, gossip, stealing from one another to such an amazing and strong tribe of brothers and sisters. I will be forever grateful to Poundmakers and will miss it there very much! I can’t wait until I can go back in three months for a 2 week follow up!

Terrible facility. The counselors don't listen to your concerns they hold themselves about everyone. Very rude. I was forced to leave because it's such a negative place and was being bullied by staff. They will make up excuses to kick you out I watched them do it to multiple people. Would not recommend anyone go here.

Almost 2 year's sober, can't thank Poundmakers enough for all the tools they have given me to be successful in my sobriety.
13 February 2020 10:04
Staff will bully you until you self terminate, if your skin is not brown they will bully you, staff will steal from your room/locker, worst experience ever, this place should be shut down.

Great program to support the clients. A lot of resources offered both clinical and cultural, to assist in healing and education! Attended a few events hosted by Poundmakers Lodge and it’s great how all the staff welcome everyone and show care for all, they really invest in the program and the clients!

After my second time there and completing 56 days, I can say poundmakers has allowed me to grow into the person I've always wanted to be. If you're ready and willing to improve your life go to this place. If you're just there to joke around, you wont last long in the program. Simple. It does work if you allow it to! Go in with a positive attitude and the possibilities are truly limitless.

This organization has some good spirituality support but is very judgemental if you're not Aboriginal. There's many clicks and various types of people that go there. I was treated very poorly and regularly drug tested every 2 days and room searches often with nothing found. I found that there is a lack of support from the staff and they rely on clients to provide you with support. If one staff has a problem with you they will bully you until you terminate it's a big scam with the sweat lodge and night Lodge it's like a pitch black room or canvas covering that you go in and you hear them making sounds of a particular character it's a joke the food is ok oversized portions.

Staff sleeping on night shift
Very click groups of people. Evening shift let clients do what every they want and day shift follows all rules.makes it hard for consistency. People bring in drugs as it's easy to bring in.aboriginal based treatment. Counsellors are very knowledgeable be prepared to have to ask for everything. All is privileged. Food is rich and really you will gain 25 pounds easy lol
