Raising Canine

Great experience! Good socialization for our puppy, great instructor and awesome training tips!

We took our new dog for puppy training at Raising Canine. Our family, especially our pup, loved Justine. She was patient, understanding and kind as it can be very overwhelming for new owners when getting to know their new addition. We liked how she taught how to train him in proper sequence and how to step back if it was too much. We also liked how she taught us to read our dog’s body language and tail positions to understand him better. Her feedback to us as owners was always non judgmental and encouraging and made training less stressful for us and our dog.

My pup and I really loved our classes with Velvetanne. We took the basic puppy training and it’s been a great start to our training. I love that we get emails with information after every class so that I can make sure i’m doing the training at home properly and will be able to reference it later too. Looking forward to taking more classes here!

We celebrated Gizmo's 5th birthday here at Raising Canine with the rest of his puppy cousins. The facility gives a home vibes, a very clean space and lots of agility equipment to occupy the rest of the pups. The staff and the owner I spoke with over the phone were so friendly and made me feel as they were my old time friends. Thank you Velvet for your hospitality, Gizmo and the rest of his friends really enjoyed their playtime. It is rare to find such facility to accommodate your personal /  private event. Although we live far south (in Okotoks), we will  definitely come back and humbly use your space again.

I needed to find a training class for our new puppy, but she was afraid of EVERYTHING and had very high anxiety! I was worried that we would be wasting our money in puppy classes because she was so afraid. The puppy class was the best thing we could have done for our puppy! Velvet was amazing. It started with a phone call and me asking if we could get our money back if she was to scared to participate. Velvet spent time with me on the phone explaining that she would let our pup determine how much she wanted to participate. She explained that she respects the dogs and never pushes them to do anything, but she was confident that the class would help. We went the first night and our girl sat in our lap and just watched the other dogs, and we watched and practiced at home. Second night she peed on me heading in, but made her way out to play a bit with the other pups during play time. Third night she wagged her tail walking in and ran up to the other pups to play before class began. We learned, she learned, her confidence was so noticeable by the end of the training classes. Velvet was so patient and kind with us and our pup. I can not recommend Raising Canine enough. I truly believe we would have a different puppy if we had not taken her there.
