Amazing store with amazing customer service. The staff are very friendly and more than willing to help with anything ski/snowboard related. They also have all the ski gear that a person could possible need!
The products there are in great shape and great quality. The customer service is amazing. Overall, a great place! Totally recommend to anyone looking for gear for skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, etc.
For years I have rented, recommended others, bought used and new equipment and this place has never failed me. Just today they exchanged some new x-country skies I purchased at the end of last years season as mine were too short. I used them about 5 times and for only $20 they took mine back and gave me proper new ones. I know you will think they can put them in their rental pool and recover their costs and that is true, however, they could have charged me way more and still have done that and they didn’t. Great service, great knowledge - they have been in business for a long time- obviously doing something right.
Came to buy ski boots. Staff walked by me several times while I tried looking for my size without any acknowledgement. Will take my business elsewhere.
Great gear got some solid rentals that i then purchased. Experienced staff. Just a tad pushy but hey, its life these days, and perhaps i needed it! Glad i supported this shop and would recommend getting your stuff here, reasonable prices and def the spot if you're in the south.
Rental quality was great for my cross country skis. I went in to return and purchase a set and the customer service was astonishingly terrible. The lady, who I can assume is either the owner or the manager, didn’t tell me any features about the different boots that she had available, terrible attitude, was arrogant and treated me like I didn’t matter. And had to ask to get the right baskets on a set of poles. Also their “new” product is there rental equipment, so they charge new prices for used equipment. I haven’t been treated so rudely by someone who I was willing to pay. Go elsewhere in the city, support businesses who appreciate it, they certainly do NOT.
I went there to rent ski for my son. People there are very professional and they know everything about ski. Much cheaper than if you rent at the ski hill and much faster. You can rent after 5 pm and return the day after and you pay only 1 day. Great service and for sure I’ll be back next time.
I recently decided to get back into skiing after a ten year hiatus so I rented from Outlaw a couple of weeks ago to get started. I had a great experience renting from them. I've decided that I am going to do a bunch more skiing this season so went in today to buy equipment. The staff were super helpful, knowledgeable and professional. Chris spent a bunch of time helping me to make sure that I got the right fitting boots which I really appreciated. I know that I am going to appreciate this even more after spending a day on the ski hill!
I highly recommend Outlaw for anyone considering renting or buying ski equipment.
It's now January and "Rapid Rent" still isn't renting XC skis. They can't use Covid as an excuse forever, Sports Rent was renting months ago. Please remove "Rapid Rent" from your store name if you're going to prioritize selling rental gear over actually renting it.
Brutal service! We tried to rent snowshoes (paying in advance) and Female staff person tells us two days ago “we don’t take reservations but we a whole bsmt.full and snowshoes will not be a problem on Dec. 24”. Just showed up to rent and they are sold out - staff said they have been “left hanging too many times” - I guess I know how that feels.
Went in last week and today. TERRIBLE customer service! Both times the female owner helped us and her attitude was awful. We wanted to spend money at a local shop rather than big box stores. She clearly did not want our business. We spent $1500 at Sporting Life instead.
The last couple of times I have rented from here, a majority of the staff have been rude and condensing (especially an older woman who seems to be there all the time). Except for a tall, slim and younger gentleman who was wearing red converse. His customer service deserves 5 stars. I hope the other coworkers follow his lead in the future.
Great prices and stuff. Would always come back. Our snowboards haven’t been new, but they were lightweight and easy to handle and not doesn’t have too much scratches on. Super easy and fast to rent and return equipment.
I came to rent skis and had never gone before and one of the young ladies was amazing and so kind. Took the time to help get me the right size for my boots and adjusting the straps, moving them over to help fit my calfs better. She was so helpful and encouraging and I appreciated the time and patience they gave to me. Will definitely rent with them again!
My Experience with Rapid- Rent web address outlaw sports in Calgary
My initial visit was to help rent my friends son some ski equipment & whilst being there I noticed they also sell ski boots & the lady – “Christina mentioned she has been a boot fitter for 20 years”.
An hour later I returned back to buy one, with my current ski boots which are 70 Flex.
Christina brought in 2 boots initially – One Tecnica other Salomon, since the latter was very tight I selected the Tecnica (I was also shown a K2 later which was very uncomfortable)
She was aware of my skiing ability & that I am awaiting an ACL & MCL reconstruction & wear a brace whilst I ski.
After I skied the following day at Nakiska I called Outlaw sports, since I could not manoeuvre on moguls (Glades at Nakiska, which I love) at all. Christina who answered the phone was told me you can’t have the best of both worlds, I was stunned by her reply. She then went on to say get a Allan Key & reduce the Flex, you will find instructions at the back of the boot. (I have to add in I was sold boots without a box/ instruction booklet)
I could not find anything at the back of boot, & I drove for 40 mins in a blizzard to Outlaw Sports to be informed by another boot fitter:
1. This boot you can’t change the flex 2. I would not have even showed you a 120 Flex boot.
I bought these Ski Boots in good faith on advice from Christina.
It is imperative that she should have knowledge of the Ski Boots she sold, her actions landed me into abject misery.
She subsequently wrote me an email admitting giving me incorrect guidance but refusing to take or exchange the Ski Boot.
I am very new to Canada (from UK), I have since discovered outlaw sports are not a part of Better Business Bureau, whilst any other ski shop- Ski West/ Techno Sports/ Lou;s Performance Ski etc all part of BBB. This raises questions of their ethical aspects of doing business.
Christina found fault with my bindings, mentioning they were not properly screwed in by Ski West, which is not correct, she mentioned she also waxed my ski;s they were hot waxed at Nakiska 6 days ago & still not skied upon!
I do not know if anyone else has had bad experience of goods they purchased from Rapid Rent, I will be writing a compliant to Alberta consumer protection (I can’t post url here but if you need it, I can direct you)
This is investigated by a Peace Officer. I left the boots with Outlawsports they can do what so ever they wish they wanted to do with them, unfortunately as suggested by them I do not have time or energy to sell them on Kijiji.
Most importantly, the advice on reducing Flex – this can be done – go to any of the ski shop I have mentioned which are a part of BBB, but this would have costed me $100-200, & I bought same boots in 100 Flex for $300, which was a better option. Had I purchased these these from Techno sports (as an example), they would have reduced the Flex for me free of cost, which is customer service & expertise from an Expert Boot Fitter rather than a “ phoney ” one like Christina.
Edited Review: I am posting pictures of eg instruction manuals / box of my new Tecnica Ski boots which I purchased- 100 flex, the moral behind this edit is these ones are brand new, I don’t trust Christina from outlaw sports even sold me new boots, as mentioned there was no box nothing just the boots handed over.
I bought a fantastic pair of skiis from Outlaw Sports last year, so decided to come back to look at buying a quality ski boot, as my experience with the staff at that time was that they are very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. A couple days ago I returned as I was considering replacing my one year old ski boots. I was immediately greeted by Brett in a friendly, professional, courteous manner. I explained to Brett the problem i was having with my boots, and he said he’d be happy to look at them for me. I returned with my boots today and was again greeted by most friendly staff. Brett immediately came to help me out. He educated me on my options and made recommendations to get my boots to fit better, after making adjustments and moulding them, they fit like a glove! Thank you so much Brett for helping me out not only with the boots, but for getting me into a proper fitting helmet and goggles! Brett is definitely knowledgeable and provided excellent customer service! The prices are comparable to other shops! Given my positive experience, I won’t be going elsewhere!
Great service, great prices, and knowledgeable staff. Been in the business for over thirty years. Anything ski, snowboarding, outdoor activities, this is your local shop you need to go to.
We rented skis for 4 of us for 2 weeks for trip round various ski hills. We were flying in from the UK and these guys were very responsive to requests for info before we got to Canada, very helpful in the shop when we got there and gave us good advice on the skiis to choose. I can't recommend them highly enough.
PS if you do you use them and are hungry while you are there there is a fantastic local cafe two doors away in the arcade which the guys in the shop directed us to and is worth a visit as well.
Pleasantly surprised to find the price on rentals. Cheaper than other places I looked at. Great staff to help with sizing for X-Country skiing for the first time.
I have to commend both Kris and Dalton - they are both very friendly and genuinely interested in helping you get what you need. Kris has always helped me with my rentals & equipment and she's always right on the ball. Dalton helped me today with the purchase of a ski & boot bags and he was very knowledgeable and fun to work with - super helpful and I highly recommend this shop!
Guys I dealt with set me up perfectly, knowledgeable, friendly. Too bad one staff member almost wrecked the whole experience, luckily I only dealt with her briefly, she was surly, rude and condescending both times I had the misfortune of talking with her. Considering I bought over $1600 in gear in one go, she should really realize she's in the customer service business. I'll go back because of the other staff and their knowledge and helpfulness, but don't and won't put up with one staff member who had me considering returning everything, yeah you know who you are.
