Ordered a currency exchange for travel and requested a mix of bill values but they decided to just use the biggest bills possible to make up the total. Would not recommend using this service.
Long wait times, rude employees. Lorena approached me while waiting to get some money exchanged at the reception area. Chewing gum, she directed me to wait in line and talked down to me. I’ve had more than one poor and unprofessional experience at this branch but I usually come here because this branch is closest to where I live. Banking customer service in 2023 should not be this poor. Time to consider other banks that value their long-loyal customers and treat them with respect.
I had a car loan with RBC and was paid out on July 17,2023. After many calls to Customer Service because my loan is still active (more than a month now) and still taking money from my account for the bi-weekly, the issue is still not resolved. I even filed a complaint on their website but don't hear any response. This bank is not a good choice to have a loan because of their bad and slow service. Representatives don't know how to handle situations like this, you won't be satisfied with their answers, educate your staff!
I was redirected to this branch after my downtown branch shut down, and I agree with those who have said that service is not the best at this location. Although I have had a few good experiences, most are overshadowed by the bad ones. Case in point, I was served by the same elderly lady two visits in a row. She was curt and off-putting during the first visit, and during the second visit she promptly told me that I can "just do that online" when I mentioned that I wanted to transfer funds. I swiped my card when prompted, and the teller berated me, "You need to insert your card! You always need to insert your card at the bank, " though the prompt on the machine was to "swipe/insert your card. " She then loudly said that I had "inserted the card the wrong way! " though it was inserted correctly, and she claimed that her computer was frozen, then ushered me to another teller, who provided much better service.
I've encountered homeless people sleeping at the bank next to the ATMs after hours on occasion, and there have been other negative experiences at this location. Also, wait times can be lengthy. I do wish there were more RBC options downtown.
The only thing that keeps me from providing "1 star" is that the branch is in a convenient location and the security guards are friendly.
It's in their nature to lock the front doors at this location, which I guess makes sense if you think that you're in a neighborhood that's troublesome, dangerous, or otherwise bad for business. However consistently having people having to walk through the drive-through ATM in order to get access to the bank is even more dangerous, but then again corporation putting people at risk so that they can maintain their own profits sounds about appropriate.
Fire the management to get staff that actually put their customers first
Absolutely terrible customer service at this branch. I placed an order for Japanese Yen on October 28 and when I didn’t receive a call within 4-6 business days I had to go into the branch because they do not have a direct line to call without waiting on hold for over an hour. When I went into the branch they told me the order wasn’t placed yet because they didn’t think I needed it right away. Avoid this branch at all costs.
It is a shame a big bank how it cut their recourses from a simple one to one phone call to an automatic answer machine. Thinking really hard to move my account.
Always loved this bank since day 1! Friendly and professional people! If you need a mortgage specialist I highly recommend Mei Chun Cheng! She is super sweet, very knowledgeable & professional! She helped me every step of the way while I bought a house!
DO NOT bank here. For a simple RBC bank to RBC bank transfer to a lawyers RBC trust account they try to tell you to do a wire transfer which they charge you for and is unnecessary. I specifically told the bank manager who was working on Saturday this is what I wanted before I started the transaction. She assured me her tellers would do this. The teller immediately was confused, nervous and said several times this was a large amount of money. In the big picture of banking transactions for real estate it was not. The bank manager came over and told her she should have done a bank draft. I told the manager clearly her tellers DO NOT know what they are doing after she assured me they did. She said you told me you wanted a wire transfer, which I clearly did not. She lied. I have done business and personal banking with RBC for over 35 years at Valleyview branch which was awesome. I WILL NEVER come to this branch again. Shame on you RBC for employing incompetent people.
The worse RBC banking branch in Edmonton, do not waste your time here, slowest branch and the manager is even worse, she is rude and is not very helpful, never visiting here again
Oliver R. B. C.is an excellent branch. I've been treated like a royal, tellers greet me with a hello, smile and kind and they always have a professional work ethic. R. B. C.has found ways to help me financially and mentally, due to a theft. I am not rich I get an allowance monthly, I am surprised at some reviews. Those people who haven't a good experience I would suggest those people go and try again. One has to realize that tellers and many other staff of R. B. C.have a lot of pressure dealing with people who are angry and disrespectful and.every one has a bad day.
Never come this place again, uncomfortable conversation, inconvenient services. If you RBC really care about your customers, Please train your employee. I tried to renew my student status, they said they need a physical copy of the enrollment Letter, but when I call RBC, they said I just need to provide a screenshot of my uni-account. I have my study permit with me and I have a PDF version of enroll-letter, I asked to print it out, the answer is no. It is already 21 century, plz go paperless. Shame on your service.
The person in business area should be attentive in the line. If your customer is not that smart to go through the line then the person behind will wait for a million years. Your service is slow already in this address and its not improving. Maybe you don't care if your service is slow. Customers in the business is always in a hurry put someone there who is fast and efficient and attentive in customers in the line for Business.
Honestly there is a man in this branch with a horrible customer service skills every time i visit the branch, And i don't think he got some idea how to respect and be nice to a woman. He probably need coaching and learn how to be humble towards both woman and man moving forward, i don't feel to come back to the two star branch:) by the way i feel this guy is Arabic speaker.umm hope u treat all people nicely and be a good nature man that all i an say!
Went to the bank to pick up some business banking cards, ask the CSR if this was everything and she assured me it was. I left to head out of town only to realize I only had 2/3 of what was sent to the bank.
I came back to get the other card and ask for assistance to get the cards set up. The second CSR named Tarek told me he didn't get paid enough to do this job.
I asked for the branch manager she was of no use either. She told me that I wasn't able to do something I've done numerous times at other RBC Banks. At the end she told me to take my client card after the CSR threw it at me and get out. After wasting an hour and a half of my day they still chose not to help me standing on pride and the inability to serve their customers, by far the worst RBC in Edmonton if you can avoid it don't go.
Horrible management and customer service. I do deposits for my company here 1-2 times a week, always arriving by 4: 45pm. Today, after being in line for over 10 minutes they refused my deposit so other people doing personal deposits could go. People who arrived AFTER me. I understand the "business" cage is closed, however it has NEVER been open any time I've successfully done the deposit. I suppose a personal deposit of $100 is worth more than the business deposit of 78K to them. We can find a bank who will be more accommodating and less rude.
I had multiple bad customer experiences at this branch before deciding to post a review as I would rather give the benefit of the doubt. If you require a teller, DO NOT go here - it will be a minimum of an hour's wait in line before you will be able to conduct your banking. This has happened to on multiple instances, regardless of time of day or day of week. Also, they have installed newer ATMs that do not require the use of an envelope for deposits but rarely if ever will actually scan your bills or cheques properly. I would suggest avoiding this branch if at all possible - unless you have an abundance of time and would like to kill several hours waiting.
Recently had to move branches as the RBC in Kingsway Mews was closed. Now I'm back at Oliver. I can't speak to the other reviews prior with the longish waits. I typically do online banking and just use the ATM.
On that note, the main issue I have is the homeless people loitering around the bank/in the ATM area. They constantly float in between the McDonalds and the RBC. Its tough when you need to make a deposit and they have their shopping cart and sleeping bag in the ATM lobby.
This location should get the locks that you need to swipe/tap your Client Card to get into the lobby after hours.
Worse experience with mortgage specialist yesterday. Very inflexibility and ridiculous! I asked for renewal my mortgage and didn't give me a options information about interests. Also, I asked them to remove my co-signers since I'm quality for mortgage without co-signers, what more, I'm primary owner of this property. And, the co-signers doesn't want part of this with my renewal mortgage. But RBC said that I have to contact the lawyers to cancel the co-signers. It is not make any sense.
Wow, after waiting in line for 40minutes because only 2 counters were open, the whole line of 15 people started a loud complaint about the manager and the customer service of this branch. It was close to a riot. This branch needs to change.
Doesn't matter what RBC branch you have to go to, if you are needing to see a teller, expect to wait in line for no less than 15-30 mins. They are so slow. I am in line right now and they are nearly lined up out the door taking their sweet time. Put on some more tellers. This is ridiculous.
I've never seen a bank with an open concept before, it's was really nice. Very Canadian. Service was great, it's just the wait was REALLY long. The line was almost to the door the whole time.
Terrible service, is this branch and its employees represented all of RBC I would be switching to another institution immediately. If you are downtown and going to be banking with them solely I would highly recommend another institution.
My fiancé and I recently went into this RBC branch to set up new accounts. Gehan was our Financial Advisor. He was very friendly, kind and helpful. We felt very comfortable asking him to also help us apply for a credit card. I highly recommend going to see Gehan for your banking needs.
Brutal customer service from the supervisor/manager at this branch! I’ve been a RBC customer for over 10 years. 2 or 3 times a month I make large payments on my Visa with a 2nd party check in St Albert (great staff). At the branch on 104 ave the manager would not do it! I waited for 15 minutes while they whispered in front of me and then said no. Not once in over 10 years have I ever had any trouble. I drove to a different branch 10 minutes away and they did it right away. No questions asked! 104 ave branch is renovating to improve their customer experience. This branch needs to deal with the manager not the building!
Every time I go to RBC, I need to wait for a minimum wage employee to figure out how to do their job. There is no reason to bank with RBC when there are free options.
I thought since I moved from the south side I would try this branch, since it was considerably closer. My original branch has been nothing but great for the near 20 years I've been going there. This branch, first of all doesn't answer their phone. I tried to call on three seperate days, at varying times. No answer. I was just trying to return a call from an employee who left a voicemail. When I decided to go in, I had to wait a decent amount of time, but that's not an issue, it was Friday after all. The purpose of my business here was to pick up foreign currency. The online process asked me if i wanted Large, mixed or small bills. I chose small. When I recieved my money and opened up the envelope it was all in $100.00 bills. Not really the biggest issue, but again no communication. No reason or a note or anything. So I'll put this on Ahmed, since his name was on the receipt with my money. Anyway, I'll be doing my business in Strathcona again. Judging by the reviews this place is under poor management.
No wonder this branch rates a 2.1 out of 5. Friday evening on a long weekend; 4 useless employees wandering around staring at the 6 customers in line and they can't get out of the bank fast enough. Stop banking with RBC. They are an extortion racket thriving on naivety of their customers.
Unless you're the kind of person who just RELISHES standing in lines, I'd recommend avoiding this location. It's slow. Like the scene in Zootopia where the DMV is entirely manned by sloths - but come to life. Since they're rarely open after I get out of work, I tried to go during lunch break and spent the majority of the hour feeling my soul slowly leaving my body as I waited to see an agent. Shortly after I arrived the third til worker closed up wicket, leaving two employees to manage the surging line of customers.
One of the RBC employees was fine but advised me that this is the slowest branch in Edmonton (really? I couldn't tell!). The other agent was just plainly rude to customers and I'm just glad I didn't get stuck with her because she was generally sour. Other queuers were, at this point, loudly discussing which branch was worse: Oliver Square or Kingsway. By popular vote, it was Oliver Square.
I'd already spent 40 minutes on hold with RBC the night before and after 45 minutes of waiting in line at this location to simply get a new card, I literally left and switched banks. Been with them since 1999 but one last visit to this location was enough to send me running for the hills.
A company with zero respect for my time isn't going to get my dime.
No stars for RBC at Oliver Square. Very poor service! My mortgage renewal is coming up by end of October. I tried to call the mortgage specialist and arrange for the meeting. But, I left my message on their answer machine and NEVER call or email me. NOTHING!
It’s a hit and miss at this location. Customer service is below standard. It’s like you’re there to beg for some money from their personal accounts. Only a few tellers are professional here, especially the males are good. Women have too much attitude, but the older lady also gets some credit. I don’t know why Royal bank opens late and closes early compared to other banks. Whenever I plan to get there I always say a prayer that I hope I do not find more than 3 people ahead of me. They are ridiculously slow and the don’t care. You’ll be already annoyed by the time you get to the counter and they don’t give a hoot about it. They start displaying fake friendships among themselves just to crawl under your skin and they think you care. Pathetic!
Bad customer service from the start of the interaction to the end of the transaction. In The start of the interaction she did not make herself noticeable that she was avaliable instead she repeatly kept saying hello sitting down behind her computer. Which made her irritated thus an attitude after. At least if she had waved or even stood up we would've have noticed her earlier. Which then caused a domino effect, later the teller did not acknowledge that the transaction was finished. She just handed us a receipt expecting us to know it was done instead stared at us for minutes, until after rudely staying that's all, it's done and shooed us away. What if we had other transactions that needed to be addressed. How does a customer know when the transaction is finished if one is not notified or acknowledged.
