Delicious food, kind and caring staff, and the atmosphere is always upbeat and family-like. I live in the far south of Calgary, but I will make the drive no matter what. It’s thee best Italian food in Calgary.
Wonderful service and great food, only complaint is the candy at the front desk. Cant blame them tho since i choose to grab it, i just dont like licorice candys
Fantastic food and the family that owns it and run it are all very friendly and good at what they do. I highly recommend you to try this place if you haven't already.
I've been coming here for years with my husband. I was disappointed to see the bread before dinner was stale and the butter they give you is like what you find in a breakfast diner in those small throw away packets. The mains were ok but saltimbocca was 2 tiny pieces of veal. I know restaurants have to pay more now for everything but it really wasn't worth it to us last night. I hope it changes. Charge a sip more in order to give decent portions. Customers will pay more if it is consistently delicious.
We stopped in for my brother’s birthday when we were visiting Calgary. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. We all left very full and went home with leftovers.
Update: we came back and got to the pizza. Worth trying!
We were recommended this place by someone of Italian descent as his go to place for homemade Italian food. You'll be surprised by the location of Rea's as it is in an industrial area. Yet you will find it is packed and a reservation is usually needed.
We had a wonderful meal here with a great server. The food was homey and classic Italian. It takes me back to my childhood days when I went to an Italian catholic school. There's nothing fancy here but you will be satisfied.
The only unfortunate incidence was the pizza oven was out so I didn't get to order a pizza. Will have to be back!
• One of the better Italian cuisine restaurants in the city of Calgary. This family run business has a very loyal clientele so reservations are recommended if you wish to avoid disappointment.
• I had spaghetti carbonara in the 'best' Italian restaurant in London's Theater District, two restaurants in Rome and one in the Como Lake District of Italy and none of it was as good as Rea's carbonara.
• If you want great Italian food, this is the place in Calgary.
The service and waitstaff were excellent, very attentive, and seated us with no problems -although we had no reservation. The sausage was just right perfect blend of seasoning with a kick. The pizza crust crispy and full of flavor I highly recommend this place.
The owner at the bar judged my boyfriend for wearing a mask when we walked in. She made a pretty audible comment about him wearing a mask to the two customers at the bar and laughed at us with them. My boyfriend is a healthcare worker who works with patients everyday which is why he chose to wear a mask. I'm not sure why the owner felt it was appropriate to make a comment and laugh about him wearing a mask as causes no harm to her. Our waitress was very nice though and the food was good, which is why I left some stars but it was not a good first impression walking into the restaurant.
Great food, ambience and service. Prices are reasonable if we compare them to authentic taste. We ordered The Signature Pizza, Fettuccine Alfredo, Shrimps and Wine. Everything was delicious and fresh. Would love to go back again, five rating.
