They gave my friend 2 bags of rotting food as a hamper and a toothbrush after interrogating her about finances. A woman with 5 misbehaving kids threw her box of muffins that they gave here that weren't rotting on the floor. They didn't harasses that woman for finances. They didn't ask the person before her finances either. Why did my friend get interrogated and food thrown on the floor and rotting food? Is it because her skin is too light? Seems like it. You're supposed to check finances every visit for a hamper right? Which you say is every 6-8 weeks. Yet the dark skinned people don't get I'd or finances checked. Seems a lot racist. Seems like I'll just buy my friend food myself and cut out you hateful fraudsters
Most of the people who volunteer with the public are not exactly public friendly and definitely RARELY look like they ever want to be there. Very terrible service and extremely invasive with your private financial information. The CRA treats you better! They ALWAYS give you a hard time just to get a hamper. I've used food banks in Vancouver BC better than this place! The people are awful and the hampers even worse! Unfortunately they are the ONLY foodbank in Red Deer so buckle up you're in for a bumpy ride!
Every time I show up there’s nothing there. Every time I ask for an assistant or ask if there’s anything they can bring out as in pastry, drinks etc… it’s always “help yourself with what’s available outside” when the only thing “outside” is expired bread, expired sauces and old books. Do better with all the storage in the back and be kinder to people. Same as hamper they make you give out what you don’t eat from the boxes but yet give nothing in return for that. It’s a food bank, it’s supposed to assist with food but barely anything there.
Thank you to all the employees for continuing this beautiful donation. But I would like to amend the stage of verifying documents in such a lame way that one feels accused. And thanks everyone
As somebody who rarely uses the food bank I go years without going. I was very impressed this last month when I went we just moved and I paid damage deposit and first month's rent and leave you needed to cut corners and I got a food hamper for I was blown away by the amount of fresh produce and how lovely it looked and how fresh it was they go above and beyond to help me meet my daughters nutritional values based on her specific special diet by the doctor.
We had a group of homeschoolers volunteer one afternoon and the staff that are at the Food Bank are amazing! They truly love what they do, they are organized and efficient as well as friendly and hardworking. Red Deer is lucky to have such a well run organization.
Great place and great people to help you out when you are in need of some food. The ladys even asked me if i needed anything else like feminine hygiene products as well. Which was a super kind offer. Greatful to have this service
I don't like to say a thing negative about places like this, I know there doing there best but, my friend who has to use the food bank because disability does not get payed enough to feed her and her son she has to use the food bank, at the food bank you have to show them your statement of what the government pays you and some other red tape and she leaves with not enough for a month. It's humiliating and they make her feel bad for needing help to feed her and her son and it shouldn't be this way. In British Columbia they don't ask all those intruding questions so people don't feel bad or humiliating for needing help to feed there family, that's why I didn't give 5 stars.
Great people doing great things here they need more parking but what can you expect from a free food place excellent staff overall 10 thanks red deer food bank workers.
