Renfrew Aquatic & Recreation Centre

I have never been more disappointed in the state of Renfrew Pool and Recreation Centre. The cleanliness and approachability of staff have taken an extreme downturn.
Arriving at the pool at 6 AM, when it opens, you would expect it to be clean and restocked, however, this is not the case! The female change room (I can’t speak for the men’s) is a complete nightmare, and it is extremely evident that it has not been getting cleaned each night. Upon arriving, most of the lockers were full of dried mud, hair, and garbage. The floors, drains, and walls were coated in slime and hair. The pool itself was also full of slime, sludge, and bandaids. The toilet paper and soap dispensers have been empty for some time now.
Renfrew has also not been prioritizing inclusivity, seeing as how their handicap buttons are not working and the handicap/accessible shower in the female change room has been broken with no handle and leaking water for almost a week now (thus not having any handicap/accessible shower access). Would love to see some improvements in the coming days with hopes that I can update this review.

But for now… extremely disappointed in this facility, do better Renfrew!

Updating my review after a month…
Renfrew pool has luckily fixed their handicap/accessible shower and their handicap buttons. Good to see that they have put more focus on accessibility. The cleanliness of the pool and the change rooms is still hit or miss which is why the pool is not yet receiving a 4-star review from me. The soap dispensers in many of the showers have still not been refilled, the walls of the shower still need a good scrubbing, the lockers and floors in the change room need more regular attention on getting cleaned/wiped down, and the approachability of staff is pretty hit or miss depending on who is working. Would love to see an increase in cleanliness on a more regular basis, an increase in the attentiveness of refilling missing items, and an increase in staff morale. At least they have begun taking a step in the right direction to improve the pool by fixing some accessibility issues!

Great pool.but hot tub is too hot. Most people just sit on the edge with just their feet submerged because of the intense heat. No need for that extreme heat. Turn it down!

Perfect for the pool and the fitness room: access very easy.
I put a four stars as it is so hard to get a water class spot available: few classes vs the demand.

Last Sunday, it's our first time in this location. It was so clean and convenient. My daughter has swimming lesson and while I'm waiting I went to the gym. The staff are great and very friendly.

The Steamroom was hot, so too was the Hottub, with powerful jets. The pool is nice and wet just the way I like it, Hot, Steamy & Wet!

Deep water workout June 22 instructor not welcoming ignored participants when having difficulty with some of the exercise’s due to recovering from injury not willing to help adjust exercises very rude when asked questions will encourages poor behavior from other pool participants will not be coming back and encourage others or to attend

This place is great but private clases at the pool are taking over,
this facility should focus more on the public and not to private classes, that keep us away from using the amenities
We pay for being able to use the facility fully with no time restrictions because of the private classes or courses

Well maintained, very clean and such a friendly staff. Not much to say about the pool coz, you know.it's a pool! The gym is kinda small but the exercise room sure make it up for the difference, it's nice and spacious with lots of classes to choose from.

Good parking, friendly staff. Great steam room, great hot tub.
No shoes in locker room helps keep floor from getting a lot of mud in it.

Older but nice, pool is good, salt water, steam is nice and steaming, Hot tub is awesome, with strong jets. 5.00 drop in for seniors which is very good.

SUPER CLEAN, Awesome staff, Steam room will help you find yourself, clean up your mind and your body, Take control of this BULLSHIZ and pay the 50 something dollars for a membership!

Friendly staff helped me when I couldn't see without glasses and helped when it's my first time there

Nice place. The pool is pleasant as city pools go, the weight room is peaceful in the afternoon and be prepared to jazzercize right into the night.

Fantastic facilities, super friendly staff and great value compared to all the other gyms and pools I've been to. Plus lots of community events always going on.

10/10 would recommend to anyone wanting to have some activity and get involved in the community.

Returned here after 20+ years to go swimming and was very impressed with the friendly staff and attentive, observant lifeguards.

Beautiful pool, friendly staff, the shower stalls have curtains (super cool, Bahan has stalls no curtains and Inglewood has showers without stalls), it wasn't as busy as I was expecting and feel like the hot tub is deeper than most. I'm glad I made the trip!

The gym was really small, and it isn't possible to reach the facility through their phone #. Only reason I'm giving 3 stars is because the guy at the reception was really nice

Very busy pool. Lots of locales, seniors use these facilities. Smallish gymn for weight training. Large area for fitness classes with equipment.

Great facility for family swim or lane swimming exercise. We go every Sunday, family of 5 is very affordable. The family change rooms are a huge help too, with three young ones.

The aquasize classes are so excellent. My Doctor could not believe that I'd lost 16 pounds after just 8 weeks of classes. Then, I love to sit in the steam room after class. It's close to my house, so added bonus!

The change rooms are too small for all the people who attend. Besides that, very nice and friendly staff. Great swim instructors, a lot of parking space. There is a second floor for parents and friends to watch their kids while swimming.

Good programming, weight room and studio. Love the pool! Would have given 5/5 but the hours are not very shift worker friendly, specifically on the weekends.

Highly recommend to whoever wants to learn swimming. They have nice pool, hot tub and steam room. Everything is perfect here except that the changing room needs be cleaner and bigger. Dylan is the best swimming instructor! And all other staff are nice and friendly too. Please come here for swimming class!

It’s a really good recreation centre that feels like home. Every time I go there, I see good and friendly people who really want to help everyone who visits Renfrew Aquatic & Recreation Centre. I’m really satisfied with the service and I suggest everyone to visit this place!

I really like this environment, relaxed place to go with alot of elders an it's not super big but they have best hottub an suana in town:) they also use salt water so I dont get much reaction other then a bit of dry skin but not compared to chlorine.

The water is colder than other pools I've been to. You're lucky to get a working shower. My daughters brand new boots were taken and when I asked front desk if they could contact the child whose name was in the boots the same as my daughter's but one size smaller, the staff member refused.
The swimming instructors are the only saving grace for this facility.
Regardless, we won't be going back.

Excellent facility. Best Steam in city and the shower is in the steam and can be a cold shower to stimulate your body vagus nerve.

Great pool with nice people. Has a steam room, hot tub, and a diving tank. Has kids lessons too.

First time using the pool and it was great! Been living in the area for 8 years and wish I would have went sooner

Very clean. Well maintained. Easy to park. There’s a separate deep pool and a hot pool beside the main pool. It’s great if you want to pay less and avoid the crowd.

This is a wonderful facility. The staff are immensely helpful and friendly. And the instructors I have met have been fantastic. The family loves to swim here. My son and a few friends absolutely love the BassBurn Dance class and eagerly await its return in September. The facility always feels welcoming. Several pokego stops that are in the area (and battlegym located here) make the walk to the bus home fun as well.

I like this facility but my one complaint is that there are only seven lockers with a padlock in the women’s change room which is pretty annoying. I don’t want to carry around a key.

Warning this review was written by a robot this pool is pretty cool actually they have a big hole in the ground that they have filled with water and people propel themselves their arms and her legs back-and-forth with the force they also have another smaller hole where they have a limit of a fire in the back the keeps the water hot they have a place where you were clean off the whole water from your body as a whole water has a saint that the centres from a chemical that they kills the poo poo in the water

One of my fav city facilities, hot tub is deep and pool not so cold. My only issue is the lack of locker that accommodate a personal lock instead of using a quarter and since the renovation, the locker room feels smaller. Floor cleanliness is often lacking, still love it there though.

Renovated during summer 2018 and opened as of September 2018. Mostly newer change rooms and new paints throughout. Other updates may not be visible.

The renovations are nice. Locker rooms look much better. The gym is still very cramped and doesn't offer a whole lot. The swimming instructors are good.
