I was there last Saturday to get the drive belt replaced on my Hitachi turntable. They took the time to fit it with the right drive belt and made sure the timing on the turntable was correct. I was very impressed! Plus, the two gentlemen working were great guys! I highly recommend That Old Retro Store for any stereo repairs. Plus, they have a ton of vinyl records.
Went there with a Turntable problem and they took the time right away to help me and fixed my problem! The person who helped me was awesome as were the other staff Definitely recommend this business Above and beyond service 100% Left by Jeri Hughes Nov 3 2023️️️️️
Helpful and friendly staff. I picked up a cleaned and recapped vintage Marantz amp (and some speakers). Very sweet sounding setup, and couldn’t be happier. Not cheap but fair value. So glad that places like this are still around.
That Old Retro Store has all of your older stereo equipment needs, not to mention an EXCELLENT selection of vinyl. They have some really rare records and stereo equipment which is hard to find anywhere else. Staff is super nice, and their record room in the basement always has some really interesting finds for cheap.
Went here to get a 12 inch sub refoamed. Was quoted 3 weeks for repair but it was done after a week. Good price and excellent work. Sub worked as good as when it was new
Great place to browse. Staff although usually quite busy are friendly and helpful. I have however lost all confidence in repair section being able to consistently diagnose and repair high end equipment
The owner helped me buy a record player new and refurbished amplifier. Service was amazing. Super happy with my purchase. Knowledge staff that are easy to talk to and friendly.
They managed to fix my pioneer spec 2 that someone else said they couldn't. So I'm happy.
Edit: Meters kept on jumping up and down on the right channel, so I opened it up to see what might be the problem. Turns out they/person who worked on it was carless and pushed a transitor to have two of its leg touching eachother. I fixed it myself but still.
Big shout out to Steve and all the staff at “That Old Retro Store”, I brought my turn table in to get it fixed/serviced. We ran into some trouble finding the solution to a problem that was evading all of us. But all the staff was very dedicated in solving the problem. I have to say their customer service is the best I’ve experienced in the city and this is definitely my home base store going forward. Thanks again for all the help! Really appreciate it!
A nice clean friendly place hreat selection of vintage and new vinyl and dont for get if you are looking for vintage audio take a look here i saw a price point for all budgets when i was there.
The store does repairs of stereo and home audio equipment. The store has a selection of vinyl records for those who love the purer sound. Great staff, excellent store.
Good selection, cool equipment, customer service could use a bit of work. Fella at the desk wasn't very interested in helping me find an album, or even point me to where it might be.
First time visiting. I found a record I have been looking for for a couple of years, they have an amazing collection of music. The staff are very helpful. I will be going back
I have been going to this place for awhile and no other store compares. I have never had a bad experience here. Excellent prices, and lots of selection. The staff are all wonderful people, and I would not hesitate to recommend this place. Easy 5/5. That Old Retro Store is a must for anyone who is interested in music and records.
The best collection, reasonable prices, and the kindest most helpful staff you can find. They gave my 12 year old daughter some old album covers, and a cool book on the history of R&R, that couldn't of made her happier. My daughter had those album covers on her wall within the hour of being home. She's now on a life long journey of collecting vinyl, for which the staff at That Old Retro Store also provided useful tips on what record player to buy. We will be back, and lots. Thank you so much.
Needed an amp for a vintage turntable and speakers. We were really well taken care of by Lindsay (sorry if I got your name wrong? !) Our budget was pretty modest but she gave us all the time we needed in the listening room and was patient with our questions. It wasn't a trascactional experience but felt more like being taken care of by a good friend who really wants you to get the best audio experience for your money. We love the Denon amp and you will see us again for sure!
Have been shopping here for several years now.prices on vinyl records are fair and they are honest about the condition.selection is not as big as some places, but is still very good.staff are knowledgeable, especially about the hardware.i had my tuner refurbished by them and the price was reasonable and the turnaround fairly quick.
What a great shop! I stopped by the other day to inquire about a new stylus for our vintage stereo. Within a few minutes the sales clerks were chatting on the phone with my partner and, after he sent some pics they were able to identify exactly what we needed. Amazing service in a shop that is filled with high quality retro audio merchandise (including vinyl records). A must stop for audiophiles and/or lovers of anything vintage!
Don’t bother taking any stereo equipment in to be fixed. They only care about getting the deposit up front then saying they don’t know how to repair it. A waste of time and money.
Forget your "wi-fi" and get some "hi-fi" in your life. This team sets the standard in Calgary for retro audio vinyl & equipment sales and service. Where the owner has build a team of value adding employees to provide Calgary's gold standard in music reference. Retailing is in the detailing - Check It Out - Great Store!
Recently I had a damaged turntable repaired and set up after it took a tumble during a move. I was able to drop it off at the Repair Warehouse and had it back in my hands within 2 days running better than ever!
This repair service was timely, respectful of physical distancing and a further testament of how small business is valued in our community. Great Service!
I've been buying from Wade since this store first opened. Great selection of vintage gear, with the knowledge to back up what they sell. Reasonable rates for repair, with a 60 day warranty.
Lots of cool records too (main floor and basement). I've bought hundreds of LP's from That Old Retro Store over the last few years, and I'm quite particular regarding condition when digging for records. I always walk out with an armful of gems, priced fairly.
Recently I was looking for a clean replacement copy of Allan Holdsworth's 'Metal Fatigue' (original Enigma pressing). I called around town, and the only store that had a copy was That Old Retro Store. Lindsey said she'd have to check her stock, and she got back to me right away. The LP looked like it had never been played, and was $10. That really made my day! While there, I snagged a few more records, all priced reasonably and in near mint condition.
The staff at That Old Retro Store have always been very friendly, and operate with the utmost professionalism. A pleasure to deal with.
DO NOT BUY FROM THIS GUY. First off they tried to sell an amp as refurbished and it was not. I drove down from Edmonton to look at an Amp, I make an offer, but point out it's making noises that it shouldn't be. They tell me they will recap it and call me when it's done. They put my name on it and what needed to be done and we agreed on a price, never asked for a deposit. Then they send it off to get fixed. A week goes by I call to see if it's ready for pick up, it is and they say they had to do a bunch more work to it. Well guess what after chatting I am informed they sold it to someone else for $200 more than what we agreed on. I will never go here again and will be letting everyone I know in the audio community to never shop at this place. Shady business practices. Better Business Bureau will be hearing from me. Also received a nasty message on my phone from the owner after posting this review.
The entire staff are well educated in music, equipment and repairs. Their selection of vinyl is perfect and their vintage amps, speakers and receivers range from your entry level up to the best ever made for a great price. Great guys to talk to if your looking to buy.
Solid guys who stand by their work, tell you how it is and have no time for nonsense. Thanks guys for tuning up my Leak receiver, it sounds like heaven!
Awesome store for vintage audio gear and vinyl records. Exceptional customer service as well. Lots of vinyl to dig through so plan to spend some time. Already looking forward to my next visit!
Such an awesome experience! Friendly and super helpful staff, very accommodating and we found some treasured records we had been on the hunt for! Definitely coming back here!
Great Shop in Inglewood. I have purchased a few records from here, as well as a Turntable. Owner is extremely knowledgeable and does not try to oversell you on anything.definitely recommend visiting That Old Retro Shop if you are in the area
Cool shop. Great staff, helpful and patient. Bought a couple of LPs for my son who is entering into vinyl. Very helpful getting a new stylus for a vintage turntable and even tested it out for me with the new stylus.
Great company and staff I went down to there store in Inglewood and bought some records and a new turn table they had good pricing and quality equipment. The sales guy help me out and found me the right set up for my amp and speakers.a week later I took my old speakers in to get fix and he had them done in a week. I go there lots to buy records and every time they have new stuff to check out. Thanks again for your help in fixing my speakers keeping me up and in tune.
Had a great experience having my studio monitors repaired. The units had a manufacturing flaw which used sub-par capacitors. While the parts could be ordered online, I lacked the tools and skills to complete the repair. I really liked the speakers, so I took the amps out and headed to their repair shop. The price to repair both units was reasonable, they had the parts in stock and the repair was done very quickly. I was impressed at the knowledge and skill of the repair team. Fair prices for the skill that is required to repair electronics.its becoming a lost art.
