We visited the store today; I use the word store loosely since they don’t seem to want to offer a look at their inventory. We live 2 hours drive away and have admired the beautiful tiles and store displays online. Despite the store website (By owner section) stating, “now open for walk-ins, with appointments still preferred. ” If this is not the case you should be updating your website. The staff that we found in the store was pretentious and rude! She didn’t even seem like she wanted to offer to make an appointment or interact with my husband and I. The sign outside the door says, basically …go away! Actually, it said, appointment only. I don’t understand how you can stay in business with the attitude that you don’t want customers to visit your store? We were in Edmonton and wanted to look at tile! With snow since Monday and today is Wednesday there were no tire tracks in front of the store. Guess we will go elsewhere to make our tile purchase. Friendly and helpful service is what I prefer when making a purchase anyway.

Nothing but great things to be said about our multiple experiences at River City Tile.
Their knowledge regarding tile installation they have shared have been excellent, and their design input is worth coming here over anywhere else I’ve been.
Excited to put this bathroom together with all this beautiful tile.

We were swindled.

Regardless of what was the company responded below, we’ve worked with other tile companies willing to waive the restocking fee because $400 for 10 minutes of work is absurd. Especially when it’s their fault. I stand by my review. It’s not ill informed. Buyer beware.

My quick take - they took advantage of my wife who wouldn’t know the difference between paving tile and backsplash tile so they could make a quick buck on restocking free. Now I’m out $400 and 2 tanks of gas. I would never shop here. I would never recommend this tile company to any of my friends. Longer story below…

They sent my wife home to Calgary with tile that cannot be used for a backsplash. Our general contractor looked at it, 2 tile setters looked at it - they all said it was a paving stone and could not go on a wall. She was very clear about what the tile was being used for - River city knew what the tile was for a back splash… but we still ended up with unusable stones.

My wife drove it back to their store…. 3 hours each way from Calgary…. They returned the tile and were supposed to etransfer the refund by the end of the day, which they did NOT do - i had to email a week later and ask about it. We were charged a $400 restocking fee for them to correct their mistake.

It sounds like several others have had a good experience. Ours was terrible.

We were swindled.
