I need to file a complaint about my stay at the Riviera Plaza and Conference Centre Calgary Airport from November 2nd to 4th. Through Expedia, I booked a two-day stay and paid a $300 refundable deposit using my debit card. It's been over 14 days since I checked out, and due to their delay during my departure, I missed my cab to the airport, resulting in a cancellation fee. Despite my attempts to contact the hotel, their response has been inadequate, and they haven't refunded the deposit. As a student, this $300 is significant for me, and their practice is unfair. I wouldn't recommend anyone to pay a deposit there due to this experience. Shoutout to Dominic Paul & Garima Kalra from the hotel staff for the worst experience I've ever had.

Not really a great room for pricing.

3000 for 2 week with a room with macro waves and bath room bed mini fridge.

On event month.

Second visit still horrible

1. My room was smelling bad as if someone was using, no window open
2. The dryer did not work
3. Bathtub clark was missing
4. Still bit noisy
5. Staff? - she was actually very friendly
6. Honestly would not visit after this trip sorry for being a karen:) but let be honest for your price of a hotel you guys are horrible.

Also a bug is keep dropping down from the light above

The reception/check in staff do not seem to want to be there and it shows.
We were evacuated at 1am due to a fire on our first night. We received no communication from staff about when we could return to our room.
The following night, we had some of our things stolen from our motorcycles. Although not the hotel's fault, the staff did not care in the least and were not helpful at all. We asked if there was secure parking, we were told "no". We then noted that there was underground parking so we enquired about that. We were told that it is for staff only. We would have happily paid for the additional security.
We did not feel safe finishing our stay after our property was stolen so we left. We were told we would get a refund for the two additional nights we did not stay. It has been nearly two weeks and we have yet to receive our refund.

Every interaction with the staff was difficult and left us feeling like we were a nuisance for simply talking to them.

My horrible stay from last week
If I could give them 0 stars that would have been more fitting!

I checked in July 2nd afternoon into room 349. Expecting a comfortable stay, instead I was met with drunken people going through the hallways yelling constantly through the evening. I was forced to check out of my room at 2: 30 in the morning due to the front desk attendant not doing anything about this situation. I tried calling the front desk numerous times and was met without anyone answering. When I went down to the front desk, I was told “that he would look into this”. Paying 120$ for a room I was unable to sleep in is absolutely unacceptable. I would really appreciate something be done about this.

Weird smelling rooms, stained towels and untrustworthy staff members. I stayed at the riviera for one night whilst visiting Calgary, it was a normal hotel. It did stink, the walls were cracked and the breakfast.very very poor, just a bagged lunch. I mean for $70 a night. You get what you get.

The perfect “no frills”. Just what you need at an affordable price. Well, before my first reservation I had heard/ read of some unpleasant reviews but my experience was very different. I really loved it here. The current receptionists here are professional and very helpful. Everything was perfect.

The hotel needs to control people gathering and yelling in the hallway until 1am. Not great when you need to get up at 5am.

Eww! Our noisy neighbors made our stay miserable by finding their pleasure in doing whatever they were. Our room was just okay. The chairs and table were so dusty.yikes! The price is low but basic quality is what everyone would expect. It's not a FREE STAY!

Breakfast was the only good part as everything was packed - they serve Kirkland bars with juice & cookies.

Not returning here!

The room hotel was okay for the cheap price, but I’m here to complain about the breakfast. I asked the receptionist and they said that the restaurant for bfast isn’t the part of their hotel, it’s a separate management.
The breakfast starts at 7am, i waited at 6: 50 since my flight is at 9am. It’s 7.10 and they still hasn’t open the door, a lot of other people besides me have been waiting there too.
I tried to ask the receptionist but they don’t know anything since it’s not part of their job. I ended up called the restaurant twice, told the guy it’s 7.10 and they should’ve open by this time.
Believe me when I go inside the dining area and line up for my ‘breakfast buffet’, there’s a lady that help us to grab the food and she only gave me 2 small sausages + 2 tbsp of fries + 2 tbsp of scrambled egg. I thought I can ask for more later, but when I came back she was asking me for the coupon again.
I mean this is not BUFFET, and it’s crazy to give 2 tbsp for each menu? !

If there was any rating less than 1, I would give this hotel without hesitation. This hotel is a scam. A hotel with 3.5 rating should normally be a decent enough one, but what I saw there is a room with a moist and stinky carpet and there was red colored stains everywhere in the room.

BE CAREFULL! Look at your bank statement when you stay there. They charged me 162.45$ including 100$ deposit. The 62.45$ got reimbursed to me but not the 100$. So basically they charged me 100$ for my stay instead of 62.45$. Good think I was monitoring my bank account for fraud because I would have never seen this. I tried to contact them and show them my bank statement but they think I am stupid. I called Visa to make sure I wasnt mistaking but hey I am still sharp. Do not deal with these fraudster…

The room was clean. Water was warm enough for a long soaking bath and Sample mouthwash, shampoo was of a great quality. The price of the hotel was good. But because I only had a debit card, I was allowed to leave a $193.00 US refundable deposit on my card. I had US dollars, but cash was not accepted. Bhakh, at the front desk, got a manager override for me and arranged for a large top floor roof, which had a beautiful view.

Never stay here.stay anywhere else. Outdated and not worth the time to book here. The only hotel I've ever stayed in the past 5 -7yr that demands a credit card on a fully prepaid room. Post covid you think they would want business guess not!

Clean beds and comfortable. Nice amenities. Great wifi. Fair price. Room counters were not clean. Key cards deactivated midstay. Front desk clerks incredibly slow. Might be 15 minutes for something simple. But would. Don’t pay more than $69.

It was such a pleasant stay for 9 days. Mr. Yash is really kind person to help us and attend the guests in most pleasing way. He inquired how the room facilities and helped us to find great places to explore.we really appreciate your kind soul.

Room service was also great part to make my trip memorable.clean bathroom with perfect room service. Room attendent also replaced coffee and other shower utilies.

Breakfast was great.with Lakshmi and other staff
I should like to forward my thanks to Sukhpreet front desk receptionist, who greeted us with smile and asked us about our day.when ever we return back late night from Banff.

Thanks Yash and other hotel staff for helping us to make our trip memorable.

We booked a room for one night, we came to the hotel and checked in… when we got into our room it looked like it wasn’t cleaned. There were mud crumbs on the sofa and some stain and it was on the floor as well… and we specifically booked a room with a big tub/jetted tub so we can have some good bath for the night and it when we checked it out it was dirty and wet like someone just finished using it. It was stained and they didn’t even mention anything about it. So unsanitary it was disgusting. We didn’t feel comfortable after seeing all that. We headed back down to the lobby right away and talked to the front desk agent. They were going to send someone to clean it but at that point we didn’t even want to stay there anymore so we just asked for a refund. The front desk agent assured that we will be getting the full money… she talked to one of her colleagues/manager on the phone about the situation… they were arguing and didn’t even seem to understand each other. And now they’re emailing us that they will charge us reservation fee. So unorganized and unprofessional. We are highly disappointed and will never book a room there ever again. Not even for free. WE DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL.

For the price ($65 before tax for a superior two queen bed room) it was worth it. The room is spacious, has decent furniture (not very new though), and the breakfast is also good (they serve a spoon of eggs, sausages, and potatoes; cereal and coffee/tea are also available). However the room isn’t very clean (weird vinegar smell in the room, towels also smelled odd, and we had a broken window in the room so the AC wasn’t working). The walls were also very thin. Location is central though.

They have decent size rooms, provide complimentary breakfast (Cereal, eggs, hash brown, toast, coffee/juice). Washroom wasn't as clean as I have had in some other hotels (I didn't felt comfortable taking a bath, just took shower and got out of there).

Wish I read the reviews before I booked,
we booked 3 rooms with this hotel to stay for night of Aug 19th 2021,
Reached hotel @ 9: 50ish PM. When I got to the counter I waited about 30 mins because the lady was not able to find rooms together. I said its fine just give me what you have as we were all tired, Stood for another 15 mins and the lady was still having issues finding rooms?
Finally she gave us room (2nd floor - Room# 222,226 - 4th floor room #403).
Now this is where things took a turn, I ENTER ROOM 222 and I saw the window ARM was broken, unable to close it. The "window screens" was on the floor.it was super cold in room because of it.
I was about to go down and I noticed the bathroom door had NO LOCK? (room226,403 had locks)
I was frustrated and went down to the lobby and asked for a different room. The lady said "sorry sir we are fully booked and we do not have any other rooms".
I showed them the pictures of broken window/locks. The lady replied "Sir all our washroom doors have no locks". I told them room 226,403 had locks! "
They sent an maintenance guy to temp fix the window but it was still not fixed. They also opened a ticket to have the lock fixed but no one showed up to fix that either.
At this point it was already 12: 30am and we just wanted to rest the lady at the counter said to talk with manager in the morning as no manager was there at night. We froze the whole night as the wind from the broken window was cold/gushing.
Oh.and there were no shampoo/conditioner in the washrooms either
Next morning I was checking out I spoke with the "Assistance manager" He took my phone number and asked me to email him pics so he can fix the issue as I requested a refund for 1 of the rooms. He said he will call me. I GOT NO CALL from him its been a week.
I called the Hotel regarding this explained that I am waiting for a call from the assistance manager. The person behind the phone said "Sir I will let him know. Right now there is big line up here so I cant talk more"
I am still waiting for a call from the manager.
Riviera Hotel at least call your customers if you have promised a call back regarding an issue. I am very disappointment with my stay at your hotel

Worse hotel I've stayed at. We got locked out of our room over 20 times in 3 days and repeatedly had to get new key because they don't work properly, breakfast was horrible, flooring is falling apart in areas, pool closed. Won't stay here again

Room was dirty! Mask mandate is not being adhered to by patrons or staff, hand sanitizer was scarce. Very very disappointed! Staff & management needs to step up & keep everyone safe & healthy. Never stay here!

The price is cheap but you will also get the value. The first room that the receptionist gave us was not even cleaned. We found food containers left over and open bottled water in the room. The 2nd room was already clean but the toilet is plugged. We waited for 2 hrs until somebody brought a plunger but still it did not solved the problem.

Awful customer service, have a newborn and called to confirm a crib was available asked 3 times and waited for around 9pm when the little one was already asleep to say that it wasn’t available anymore. Hotel is disgusting, alcohol stains all over walls. Very disappointed

Very nice sized room, check in was fast as I was telling the reception my name she looked at me and asked for my credit card and id.
The bathroom floor was a bit slippery and had to watch out.
The king sized bed was comfy, but saggy in the middle a bit which allowed me and the wife to snuggle up closer intentionally or unintentionally ;)
The continental breakfast was only: coffee, water, milk, and 6 choices of cereal.
I would stay here again when I was coming back thru Calgary

I booked for a room through booking. Com and paid full. Then when I went to the Hotel to check in, the receptionist asked me for two peice of ID. Then when I gave her my ID, she states that they don't accept the kind of credit I have. Then I left and went to a different hotel and checked in with the same ID the refused to accept. Horrible experience and bad costumer Service.

Oh I forgot to mention that I didn't get my refund yet.

Found bedbugs in my room had to sleep in my car as they wouldn't give me a refund.they could only offer a different room. Would not recommend this place at all.does not deserve the star i had to so I could write the review.

This place was disgusting. So glad I only paid for one night instead of two. The place smells like heavy cigarettes with stinky perfume to cover the smell. You come in and a sour face girl checks you in. Literally did not even say hi. None of the staff were wearing masks. Bed was itchy. I was not able to sleep at all. Changed rooms twice because of the stank smell then toilet got clogged in second room. DO NOT STAY HERE!

Staying there during pandemic in February 2021

Front desk staff were not wearing a mask. The young lady working there should wear one to cover her not smiling face

Also we had a little incident after shopping when we came back to the room and dropped bag on the bed a bottle of liquor broke and fell on the bed. We called within 5 min the front desk and someone came to pick up the bed sheet there was absolutely nothing on the mattress and it was only 7PM they were struggling to get us a new set of bedsheet.

The bedsheet we gave them were not stain by much specially that it just literally feel 5 min ago on it and we told them right away. They still charged us 100$ for the incident and the manager refused to refund the deposit even after we acted honestly.

I wouldn't deal with this place again the customer service was terrible generally even before the incident. You can see there are many other review that have issue with the customer service. I wouldn't deal with them again at all and I stay in hotel in average 100 night per year

We called back 2 days later to talk to the manager his answer was they couldn't clean the bedsheet the next morning so they still charged us that 100$

I only give two stars because the lady receptionist is not very welcoming. Thats the least thing we deserve after a long drive. She is not old yet not to be happy with her job. She needs to quit if she hates her job.

Wasn't horrible, but there were a few things that left us scratching our heads. The staff was friendly enough when we first arrived, but we found our room to be extremely hot! We turned down the heat, but the hallways still felt like literally 30 degrees.
We were sad that the jets in the jacuzzi didn't work, as that is the main reason we got our particular room. The tub also took FOREVER to fill up with the weak water pressure. I also noticed a few cleaning issues here and there, such as dust on the picture frames and calcium buildup in the shower.
The TV had only a handful of channels, with no option to look at a guide.
We had to laugh at the "Covid safe" breakfast they gave us: juice box, Nutrigrain bar, and Dad's cookies.

Very cheap rates right now as they are going through another management change. Also some renovations are occuring. Have stayed several times and the rooms are clean so good place to crash with cheap rates.

I want to start by saying that the stag was friendly, and the room was nice for an older hotel, and clean. We choose this hotel for the price point ($75 for the night taxes in on Expedia) and because there was a pool. We never used the pool because the water was green, and so cloudy that you couldn't see the bottom. My eyes we actually starting to sting after just a few minutes. I have experience as a pool operator and the water chemistry was definitely dangerously out of balance. The second concern was more a disappointment. The free breakfast was toast and cerial or a small fruit salad. This was served by staff with the option to order from the full menu with a $5 discount. They were understaffed and the service was very slow. It lacked the speed of self serve and the variety that I've come to expect from other chains' complementary breakfast.

Reasonable price. Building itself is a bit old but it's maintained very well and staff was friendly. Despite the proximity to the airport, I didn't have any problem with the noise over two-night stay.

Everything was great on our way to the airport, the hotel was easy to find and the shuttle was punctual to the airport in the morning, upon our return however we waited 20 minutes with no sign of the shuttle to bring us back to the hotel. I called the hotel only to have them tell us that they sent a shuttle and that he is there waiting for us. I informed them that he was not and the man on the phone hung up on me and stopped answering my calls. Not a big deal because we just ended up taking a cab but it did cost us an extra 30 bucks.

The room is spacious, but a bit outdated. Old fashioned carpet and sad looking paint on the walls. The bathroom was really nice and included a personal steam room! The elevators are extremely slow and inconvenient. Very nice looking dining area, but I was a bit put off by the service. There were 5 of us and we had to ask several times for an extra bed before they brought us one. The pool change rooms didn't have soap and the water dispenser in the fitness centre was empty. The fitness centre and pool were descent. Internet is also awful. I can't even connect to the WiFi on my laptop. We weren't able to have breakfast because we were never given breakfast tickets. They kicked us out of the dining area and the people at reception said we were given these tickets. We went back to the room to look for them and my dad said we were never given these. When we went back to reception to confront them, they said "Oh sorry we must've forgotten to give them to you. " By this time, breakfast was already over. Overall the stay requires lots of improvements before I would consider it a good hotel.

If I could give them no stars at all, I definitely would, on the first night I changed the room 4 times because heater was not working, then front desk was very rude, I wouldn't recommend this hotel for anyone

Average Calgary hotel.
Repairs to broken drain pipes on fourth floor smelled bad and the gallons of nil-odor used to dull the smell gave me a head ache.
Parking lot had a lot of fast food trash.not good for first impressions

The hotel and room was very nice. The two king beds were very comfortable, the fire place was a nice touch to the room. The bathroom had a jacuzzi tub that we didn't have time to use but the steam shower was amazing. We were given a good rate because the hotel said the rooms were dated and some in the process of renovations, we however didn't mind. We would definately stay here again.

The customer service from the front end staff was amazing. The actual hotel room was below average. The curtains were ripped, stains on the carpet, bathroom was very dirty and the windows were disgusting. We stayed for 2 nights before and 2 nights after our holiday to Mexico and when we arrived back in Canada we called for our shuttle and it wasn't available for what ever reason so we were sent a cab. Great right but there was y of us and we were sent a small car and could only fit 4 of us in it. So j called the hotel back and said " there is 6 of us how in the heck are we all going to fit in the car plus our luggage? " The lady said oh I didn't know there was that many people.thats when I said take a look at the reservation and tell me how many people are in our room? She said" oh yes 6. " it was then tbey sent us another taxi. When we checked in again that evening I was presented with 4 vouchers for the free breakfast that was included in our reservation. I was so tired and done with the day I then said why only 4 vouchers? The response was we are only allowed to give a max of 4 per room. I said it was absoulutley not acceptable as I was being charged for 6 in our room in the hotel cost so I should have been given 6 breakfast vouchers. We will not be staying at this hotel in the future unless things change. Like I said the staff at the front were amazing the pictures below show the windows and the bathroom. Super cheap because they're under renovation. Great location. Clean. Shuttle as advertised. Excellent value for the money. Never had the breakfast. Highly recommend.

Pro: It is great for what you paid for. Room is clean. Service is good.

Con: Just like most of the 3 star hotel that I have experience with, the pillow case smell like someone, and ocassionally find girl's, hair on my fitted sheet. Other than that, it is great.

You have to wait in the restaurant for waitress to take your breakfast order, the food is not displayed and not good, only the free food that is in the picture
The back of the menu is with extra fees. The restaurant has house flies that fly over your food while you are eating, the swimming pools are full of chlorine unlike other hotels where it burns your eyes while you are sitting in the jacuzzi.

In the middle of renovations, the room was acceptable but there was a few things that could have been cleaned better. The breakfast is now a voucher system but was acceptable to me, 5$ off a limited menu. The staff were friendly and overall I enjoyed my stay

Terrible experience. Bed was ok. Room was very outdated but that was to be expected. WiFi sucked. Breakfast was a joke. We were sat at a dirty table that was never cleaned and waited half an hour before we had to flag the waiter ourselves. He then asked to take our order but we were never given a menu. He also asked if we wanted more coffee (to be put in someone else’s dirty cups), and we hadn’t even been given so much as a water. We walked out and spoke to the manager who gave us 15% off our next stay as that was “the best he could do. ” Pointless as we won’t be staying here again.

The hotel was just alright for the cheap price. The room is dated but clean. Check in was smooth and the front desk is friendly. The elevator is quirky and only 2 out of 3 is working. The hotel comes equipped with gym and pool. Free parking is available and hotel is close to Sunridge mall and T&T. Their complimentary breakfast option leaves alot to be desired.it's very very basic toast and coffee

Rooms were dated and not cleaned very well as there was stuff on the walls. Tv was blurry most of the visit as well.the free continental breakfast is very poor and when asking how long food would take we were told it would be an hour when given our glasses after a few sips of coffee the cup was not even clean having dried crusty food on the side feels very unsanitary

One of the worst hotels! The breakfast is awful and they make you to skip it! Even if you can find something to eat (the manager told us "I will bring you something to eat" when we complained), it is not proper at all, e.g, the juice is mixed with water I will not give a second chance to this hotel!
