Rosebud Theatre & School of the Arts

My friend and I were visiting Rosebud from out of town and due to an accident on the highway were a little late arriving in to town. We were planning to cook dinner at our AirBNB but figured we would stop and grab food instead as we were quite hungry and it was getting later in the day. We got in to town around 730 and could not find anywhere to eat. Nowhere. Nothing. Not even a gas station to grab a snack or chocolate bar.

My friend ended up pretty much walking around town and knocking on doors and asking locals for suggestions as we had zero food, had been travelling all day and I can be rather nasty when I'm hangry and he wanted to avoid that. He came back to inform me that there was a buffet up the street and to get dressed and ready and we will head over.

We showed up probably around 820pm.come to find the open sign off and doors closed and no one around. The loveliest lady, Ellie, let us in and told us the buffet was finished at 8pm. We told her our situation and we were met with extreme kindness. She told us to come in and walked us back to the buffet area and was happy to get us some water and allowed us to help ourselves.

Not only was my food fabulous (shout out dessert table, home made stuffing and chicken) but the staff at Rosebud Theatre and especially in the buffet area are some of the kindest human beings I have ever came across. The hospitality was above and beyond. They really saved our evening and tidyed up alongside us intruding on their dining space as they are closing up. Then they wouldn't even let us clean up as a thank you or take any kind of payment. Thank you, thank you, thank you for making my trip to RoseBud exceptional. Next time we come back to visit- ill have to make sure to catch dinner (on time) AND the show as well.

I have been to Rosebud theater about 10 times in the last 20 years, and I've never been disappointed. If you've never been, you need to go. There is literally nothing like it. The food is amazing and the show, even better. Its a world renowned art school and the actors and students do all the serving and serenading. This place is worth every penny spent.

First time visiting Rosebud.
I saw the Sound of Music here. The show was expertly executed! Excellent family entertainment! Loved their use of the curtain, the cute little kids, the duling pianos, the harmony. The music was great! Thoroughly enjoyed wholesome entertainment without worrying about what ill-humour my kids were going to be exposed to. Worth the drive from Edmonton!

Surprisingly good. The musical was well done, well sung, well acted and quite enjoyable. The meal was good, nothing fancy, just a good meal. The fish was very poached though and the vegetables could use some seasoning as they are simply steamed. Still, mi or quibbles aside a great evening.

I have always loved the moments I've shared at Rosebud. Keep doing what you are doing.

My son and I thoroughly enjoyed last night's performance of the musical the Sound of Music! The whole evening was fantastic! The buffet was delicious from the many salads to the mains and of course the desserts! The only concern was at the very end as we were about to leave and we were sitting in the car reflecting on the evening. A local woman who's house we were parked in front of decided to come out and question us on why we were parked there? She rudely interrogated us and didn't believe us that we were there for the musical. It almost ruined the night but thankfully I was able to keep my cool and remember the amazing night we had! My suggestion to the Rosebud Theatre & School would be to have a better parking system with proper signs and compliance from the local town folk. Thanks again for the fantastic dinner and show!

LOVE IT HERE! DELICIOUS FOOD, AMAZING STAFF, TERRIFIC PERFORMANCES, AND BEAUTIFUL SCENERY! It's safe and relaxing for all ages!

Great little town. Went to the afternoon theater, and had the lunch buffet. The buffet was plentiful and this talented young woman played a few songs on her guitar, she was very good. The play was awesome, and the actors were very talented. Went for a walk through town and was amazed at how western everything in town looked. The hospitality is above and beyond. The staff there, all had a smile. Very informative and fun place to visit. I would recommend this place to everyone to go and experience it at least once.

Went to see the sound of music last night and WOW. Seriously blew us away and far exceeded our expectations! I love that they didn’t sway from the movie and did the original story true justice. Actors were amazing - children were so so cute and spot on. Highly recommend the whole experience!

So many thank you's and cheers to Terrah Harper for such a wonderful family night out. If you haven't even heard of Rosebud, AB then you are missing out! Go to the sound of music at their theatre and witness something truly spectacular. We were able to attend the evening show and the tickets came with dinner and the show. Dinner was amazing so much food and variety it was so hard to try everything. The staff are friendly and sweet. The town is an artistic site to bare witness too. The theatre was the perfect size. Not to big and not to small. The actors were spot on and everyone did a fabulous job representing and embodying their characters. Everyone did a great job with quick scenes and wardrobe changes never a slow or dull moment. The pianist were right on cue and you could hear every note all the way into the back of the theatre. The pianos were a great asset to the production. When so many people/ sets are choosing synthesized music. The music complimented the singing and scenes beautifully. Over all this was a great experience for us from the moment we entered into Rosebud!

Over the years, we have enjoyed many performances by Rosebud School of Acting. Today we enjoyed the lovely noon buffet for Mother's Day. Followed by the afternoon performance of Bountiful. What are wonderful group of performers.

Rosebud is such a GEM. My family have been customers for years. I'd recommend this experience to ANYBODY! We usually go to the matinees and the buffet is exceptional. Following the buffet we LOVE browsing their gift store (they have a great selection of puzzles) and then we cross the street to the OPERA HOUSE THEATRE. Rosebud ALWAYS put on FABULOUS performances. The hamlet of Rosebud itself is a sweet destination with great character - the small museum across from the Mercantile is an experience as well. HIGHLY RECOMMEND taking the time for a ROSEBUD THEATRE EXPERIENCE!
