Running Room

I received fantastic service here! The sales reps were really helpful in finding me a sturdy shoe that would protect me from future stress fractures. They were really patient with my indecisiveness and were so knowledgeable about such minuscule details about each of the shoes I tried.
I really like how Running Room has a 30 day trial period to lightly use a pair of shoes to see how they feel/fit. They were allowing me to take two pairs of shoes home to try before purchasing them! I ended up buying a pair that were on sale, then returned them for another pair and they still honoured my discounted price that was available for a limited time.
Hats off to the team here - will definitely be back here for my next set of running shoes!

While going to the Running Room on 109 street, I was minding my own business trying shoes on in the back sale area, when this tall bloke appeared out of no where, didn't introduce himself, and then rudely started telling me what shoes and how the ones I was holding "wouldn't work". I was alone and having a man treating me in an agressive manner without identifying himself. He then went out to talk to the associate and started proclaiming that I didn't know what I wanted and don't know if I pronate and went on to this poor associate on what he needed to do. I informed both that I did, and I will bring the shoes out. I grabbed my stack of shoes, and walked to the main area and asked the associate to tell me which shoes I should choose. He was kind, helpful and the reason why there is a few stars. Good work dude on helping. Not only did you describe the shoes and how they would benefit me, you helped me narrow the choices.

Back to that tall guy now, who was the opposite of helpful. I paid for my shoes and asked if I could have some of the electrolyte tabs. After confirming, he then started mansplaining what they were without consent.

Tips on customer service for this man:

1. Introduce yourself in a welcoming way that is not aggressive and rude or threatening. Especially if you magically appear out of nowhere in a back room when there is a woman sitting alone.

2. Instead of loudly announcing that a customer doesn't know what they ate looking for, to a junior associate; state without subjective statements that are customer may need assistance.

3. Take the large stack of shoes and move the customer to the main area. Be actually helpful.

4. Ask if the customer needs to know what the products are. When you start in with the description of something in a condescending tone as of they are an idiot, this tells them that you're more focused on ego and less on educating in a thoughtful way. It's also showing consent doesn't matter.

5. Treat staff as a servant leader that had a goal to help grow them. Speaking down to them in a public setting devalues the opportunity to educate in a way people want to learn.

In conclusion, do better. I won't be spending any more money here.

I have got nice running shoes there about 6 years ago and they are still good to run. It is a good store with plenty of options for those who are in different sport activities.

Update: While I still think that the Running Room has great quality clothing, customer service needs work, not so much from staff on the floor but rather the manager/those behind the cash register. I probably don't need another $45 running cap, but if I am coming to a store to buy one, I do expect good service. I will not return to this location.

Original review: I've purchased a number of things from the Running Room over the years, most recently Craft winter running pants (excellent), t-shirt and a buff (works!).

This location is well-stocked and has pretty much whatever you're looking for. I find it jarring to be immediately asked what I am shopping for when I enter the store (sometimes I do not know!), but I guess it is better than not being addressed. A simple Hello from the cashier might be better.

Be prepared to spend a pretty penny, but also know that you are likely buying good quality items that will last you for years to come.

I love getting my new running shoes here. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful - they'll work with you to find a shoe that fits your gait and preferences based on a quick evaluation of your stance, and your experience with previous running shoes. I would highly recommend this shop to anyone looking for a new pair of running shoes (trail and/or road).

Didn't buy anything here but the staff, at the time of our visit, was very helpful and knowledgeable about running shoes.

I was here just the other day. My girlfriend and I started training last month to improve our running. I was using an old pair of running shoes which were causing some discomfort, so I knew it was time for a replacement. The staff here was excellent. They saw me right away, asked some questions, measured my feet, and analyzed my gait. They gave me several options to choose from, and I went with a pair of Hoka Bondi 8's. The whole process was fast and efficient. The selection of shoes and other gear is really nice, so I'll definitely be back in the near future! Thanks so much!

I brought my sister here so she could get a new pair of specialty shoes. The 5-star is for the amazing customer service. We went there on a weekday, so it was not busy. The customer attendant- their name might be Vincent, was amazing! They know what they were talking. You could see that they love their job. They went above and beyond to help the customer. I highly recommend this place.
