Rural Rivers

Renting from Zack at Rural River Adventures was a fantastic experience. We initially planned on getting the double kayak, but upon arrival realized it would be too long for our vehicle to carry. Zack provided us with single kayaks and helped us load and secure the kayaks and also provided straps as the ones I had were too big. We did a full day rental, but he allowed us to keep the kayaks until closing time the next day, which gave us more time with the kayaks. He also provided us with great suggestions on where to launch the kayaks and where to explore. Overall it was a great experience renting kayaks from Rural River Adventures and we look forward to coming back again next season. Thanks Zack!

Zack was sooo helpful, kind and very knowledgeable! He has a great local business that rents out kayaks and canoes with a variety of options! Best part you get a life jacket, paddles, whistle and even straps to keep the kayak in place for such a reasonable price! And the drive was nice and really easy to get there!

Zack was also super accommodating and let us bring the kayak back much later than closing time because we were running super late! We appreciated him being so understanding! He was very easy to message and would reply back very quick!

We will be renting from here every time!

I rented a canoe from here on July 9,2023. The rental process was very easy and convenient, and Zack was friendly and helpful with loading and unloading the canoe. I took the canoe out to Wabamun for the day and had a great time. Thank you!

There’s a reason this place has only 5 star reviews. The equipment Zack provides is great quality and he provides everything you need for a successful trip. While it is cheaper than other rental places, the service provided is exceptional. This will definitely be my first choice for future excursions.

We had a fantastic time kayaking down the Sturgeon River with Rural River Rentals. The owner was so nice rescheduling when a thunder storm came up, then bringing down the kayaks and chatting with us about the river route. Also has a lovely cat to join you as you sign your forms and waivers:) Affordable, friendly, lovely experience for a summer afternoon — highly recommend!

I’ve rented from Rural River several times and I’ll be back again. I’ve done the Rural River route and the process is so easy. Zack, the owner operator, has everything set up for you upon arrival so all you have to do is come
right at your booking time, drive down the hill to the parking area and meet him by the river. Every booking time is private so there’s no waiting around for others to show up. The equipment is very clean and current. The Rural River route is a super unique experience. It’s a quiet, beginner friendly route where you’re likely to spot wildlife like beavers, moose, and cranes. He mentioned that in years when the river is higher he will be able to offer longer routes through sturgeon county. I’m very keen to try these in the future. 10/10 recommend this local business!

What a fantastic afternoon! This is a gorgeous stretch of the Sturgeon River. My leisurely trip was fun, therapeutic, and breathtakingly beautiful. Zach took great care of me from start to finish. I shall most definitely be bringing the whole family back for another Rural Rivers adventure!

Beautiful quiet kayak experience close to St Albert but away from the crowds. The meandering creek feels like you are far from civilization and is simple to navigate. Good for wildlife watching. Easy to get to, well organized and great price!

This place is a hidden gem! We rented kayaks on a Monday evening and it was very peaceful. Zach was very friendly and knowledgable. We also got to see so many beavers in the river. Would definitely recommend this place!

Three of us did the rural river route in individual kayaks. We had a fabulous time, the river is absolutely beautiful and we saw so much wildlife. I felt like I was travelling through paradise. Thank you!

We rented a three-person canoe yesterday for 2.5 hrs on the rural river route, and we will definitely be coming back. The rental is incredible value compared to others in the area, and the rural river route from the property is stunning. Zack was really knowledgeable about the route and the history of the area. I wish we had discovered this sooner - by far our best canoeing experience in the greater Edmonton area.

We rented a canoe for a long weekend trip to Waterton National Park and paddled in to a backcountry campsite. The canoe was perfect for my girlfriend and I; plus our backpacks and gear.

Zack runs a wonderful outfit. He will help you load the canoe and secure it your roof rack (or will help you rig something up if you don't have a roof rack). The canoe was also super clean, which was especially nice as we had to go through a boat inspection at the park entrance. We payed a fraction of the cost you would pay for a rental in the park, and had it for multiple days!

Rural Rivers is seriously the best value rental you can get for a trip to the mountains/outside of the city. Can't wait for a guided tour on the mighty Sturgeon in Spring 2022!

Great experience for a relaxing float for beginner - novice kayakers! The guys were ready for us and had all the equipment ready. We got there at 9 am and had the river to ourselves. Enjoy all the wild life we saw and heard! Would recommend this excursion highly! However, a sign on the road to direct you into the property would be ideal.

We did a private north Saskatchewan trip with me my wife and five kids, would highly recommend. Great day floating through down town Edmonton. The owner gave us a amazing experience. I loved the whole trip would go again.

Talked to Rural last night and was told meet at his place in sturgeon county at 1pm to pick up 2 kayaks. Drove from leduc to his location and arrived at 1pm with no one there. 3 calls later, and no call back…. By 130 we had left. Extremely disappointing.

It was a great experience. Zack was very friendly off the hop, and super accommodating. He responded very quickly to me and was informative in answering any questions. Upon our arrival, he greeted us and took us to the location, got us set up and on our way! It was such a peaceful and quiet place. Secret little gem he has got set up there. Since then we have been back again for more because it was so much fun. Zack was super kind to let us stay out longer than planned. Zack and his staff was fantastic and highly recommend them! Wonderful experience, Zack was very knowledgeable and clearly passionate about kayaking. We hadn’t been in a while and he was great about making us feel comfortable and ensuring we would be safe. The area was beautiful and secluded. Made for wonderful afternoon and escape from the city. Would recommend to any and all levels and will definitely be back!

Planned a kayaking trip for my sister-in-laws birthday for 6 people and it was wonderful! Everything was super easy to book and coordinate. Had a fantastic time canoeing on the Sturgeon and Big Lake. They met us in Riel park parking, and in minutes they launched us into the Sturgeon! Great team, and we’re very easy to work with.

We went so we could rent a tandem as my daughter wanted to kayak but wasn't ready to go in her own. Zach was fantastic and out our minds at ease, guided us through all of it and sent us on one of the loveliest, most peaceful paddles I've done! Highly recommend. We even got to see beavers at work! Super cool.

Went for a kayak down the North Sask river with a group of 11 - all different levels and ages and it was fantastic! Fun for the whole family:) services were great and the route was awesome. Would highly recommend! I have lived in the Edmonton area my whole life and have never been down the North Saskatchewan river, it was a great way to rediscover the city.

Zack and his staff are super friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable. The river was beautiful and it was so fun to be out on the water in our community. It’s great for any skill level, as I had never been before and had an awesome experience. I was also very impressed with their cleaning/handling procedures compared to some other drop in rentals I saw. Each kayak and canoe was removed and cleaned by staff away from the river after each rental to protect our local wildlife and ensure safety and fun for years to come. Rural Rivers’ rentals are a great price and I highly recommend giving it a try! Definitely will be renting with them lots in the future!:)

My husband and I decided to go for a morning kayak for our 10th anniversary, and Rural Rivers did not disappoint! Zack was super friendly, knowledgeable, and just an all around good guy. The location is excellent, the river was calm, and it was a slow, relaxing paddle/float - just what we wanted. Had a great experience renting a canoe from Rural Rivers for some fun on the Sturgeon River with my two young daughters!

Staff was friendly and helpful. The canoe, oars and life jackets were (are?) like brand new.

The Sturgeon River and Big Lake are easy bodies of water to paddle on and navigate around, great for new canoers and/or taking your kids.

We will definitely be repeat customers this summer!

Great place for a morning of fun with the family. Zack is very friendly and helpful. The canoe we rented was squeaky clean and the location is nice and quiet for a couple of hours of leisurely paddling. Zack explained that the water level when we went was low, so I guess it would be even more fun when the river is fuller!

Rural Rivers turned a great experience into an unforgettable day. Zach was very knowledgeable and passionate about the area. We had a 4 and a 6 year old with us that loved every minute of it. The pickup spot is just right off highway 16 making it nice and close to a lot of great Kayaking spots. The guy was super friendly, the rates are the best in town, and the gear you're getting is top notch. If you wanna get out on the water this summer be sure to check them out!

It was our first time on the Sturgeon and we rented a two person Kayak from RR. The Kayak was brand new which is nice, and the live vests were also in excellent condition. I would definitely rent from them again.

We had I great time with rural rivers.
We enjoyed there extremely relaxed attitude. We showed up a little late was greeted happily with no issues, gave us a little run down on equipment and do paper work, waivers and covid screening. We were in the water in no time.
Equipment was clean and reliable.
This river adventure was awesome, down stream was so much fun, it’s a bit of w work out coming back, but not to bad.
We did return back a few minutes late and the owner was just as relaxed as when we showed up.

The wild life we saw was actually amazing and unexpected; definitely something to do during the summer!

Everything was seamless from booking the kayaks to getting in the water and leaving. Rural Rivers moved the kayaks to and from the water and it was an absolutely perfect day. We had a tandem kayak that was new and very clean. Experience was awesome-will definitely be booking again soon!
