Nice place to shop prices are a little high but nice clean store and staff is very helpful. Safeway use to be a great place to do all your grocery shopping but now the prices are a little on the high side. Quality meat and vegetables and fresh baked goods. Nice Store to shop in but needs to be more competitive.
Prices are hugher than many other grocery stores, however it is located i a small town and its a safeway. They have a good (albeit) small bakery section.prpcude was very lacking today but usually it is decent. Their sales are decent most of the time also. Maxine was my cashier today and she was very sweet and so good at bagging prpperly! She had a warm, east coast feel and made me feel like a valued customer. Will definitely be back to see her gorgeous face!
A little more pricey than Walmart or Superstore and but way above both in terms of quality and especially customer service. A more civilized shopping experience.
I stopped to buy flowers for an event I was attending. The flowers were fresh and beautiful, but the store only had an assortment that included various shades of pink and purple. I would have preferred a more varied hue selection. The person checking me out was kind and friendly. She was more than happy to take the time to wrap the bouquets in paper. When I arrived at the event, I noticed that there wasn’t any floral food included, so I will know to ask for it next time.
I just stopped by Safeway today which is normal for the past 30 + years as a loyal customer after getting our groceries we went to the gas bar for fuel as usual. However was very surprised to find out you cannot use your gas discount at the pump anymore you have to go into the store to claim your discount and need to tell them how much fuel you need this is pretty hard when you want to fill your car. This new policy is very disappointing and is making rethink my loyalty to Safeway. I sure hope this policy changes because 30 + years of loyalty may change.
Mostly visit this place while working but have never had a bad experience. Staff is friendly, management seems fairly avid. Only thing is sometimes they could have a couple more cashiers as the lines get a little out of hand.
I haven't been to a Safeway for a long time. Lots of great stuff but the prices are really high. Save On Foods seems cheaper. The high produce prices surprised me.
I've always liked shopping at stony plain Safeway. Usually have what I'm looking for, and happy to see you friendly staff. I Usually have a hot chocolate from the in store star bucks.couldn't ask for a better pharmacy.
I haven't been in here much before 7 pm. Usually 1-2 tills open. The line ups don't get very long. The older staff in the store is very helpful if you have any problems finding anything.
One of my favourite places to shop. I wish they had more selection of environmentally friendly cleaning products and less popular products (ie nutritional yeast) but their prices are good, the store is always clean and well stocked and I can get most things I need here.
I went into Safeway in Stony Plain last week with my kids and I seen a cashier sitting on a chair at the front entrance doors playing on her cell. No mask on. She doesn't even acknowledge the customers walking in. She didn't even pay attention. When I left she told me to put my cart away. I have two little kids and she is playing on her cell during work sitting on a chair and she tells me to put my cart away. Her nametag said Morgan. Not very friendly.
Have been shopping here for many years. I love my baked goods and they have gone to hell since the merge with sobey’s. Quality is in the basement and they use ridiculous crinkly bags that rip easy and don’t seal. The size of most of the goods has been cut in half or smaller. Whatever they do, everything is stale in one day whether it has been opened or not. Also, you can’t get a straight hot dog bun to save your life. No effort put in.
Don’t trust the frozen foods! Everything I buy lately seems to have been thawed completely at some point. I’ve been throwing away more food than eating.
I have to say the ladies at this bakery are just fantastic! I had an idea for a cake and they totally helped me with everything I needed. Super friendly and patient with me. Thank you ladies!
Going from 4-star to 2-star. The decision to go to paper bags only is the wrong one to make. I should have the option of paper vs plastic and the fact that they are charging 15 cents per bag is outrageous. 5 cents, yes. 10 cents, now your pushing it. 15 cents is just over the top. If this is what you are keeping, at least get paper bags with hands on them!
How am I suppose to carry more than two bags and close my tailgate, then open up 2 doors while trying to hold onto handless bags just to get to my apartment? !
A typical safeway, has a good amount of parking, starbucks, a gas station, pharmacy. Staff are friendly, and generally helpful when you can't find that one item.
Safeway is never busy but steady I've compared prices and you could tell why their not as busy as super store maybe because of their pricing premium prices and average products but their displays seem to have alot of time spent on them, flower shop is hit n miss and the bakery is well its cobid times but having a starbucks on site sayes it all.
I'm a smart shopper and know prices and this store is absolutely horrendous for their prices. Listen up people just because they bag your groceries does not justify the gouging and the greed. People who shop their regular deserve to get burnt.
Flavors are great but it's dependent on the barista fixing it. The employees are not paid what they are worth especially the truly exceptional ones that are conscientious and hard working
I like the fact on Mondays the staff turn down the lights at night too help people who get migraine headaches and you are still able too see what you are buying and no migraines so far. Thank you for caring.
This Safeway is very handy from where we live in Stony Plain. Most of the staff are pretty helpful, There sliced meats in the deli, are always pretty fresh as they sell a lot so their is a big turnover.
This has to be the WORST grocery story in Alberta. Every single time I go there, they have limited to zero stock and most of the produce is bad. No chicken, no orange Juice, no lettuce? The basics? Time to spend a bit more $ and go to freson bros!
Generally (even pre-covid-19) a clean store. Follows covid-19 safety restrictions but if you ask me, the store is not enforcing the protocols and guaranteeing the safety of shoppers who ARE following safety restrictions from customers who are NOT. Carts and baskets don't appear to be cleaned as thoroughly as competitor stores in the area are.
Currently, I have to go to the store and their Pharmacy weekly, and every visit I am faced to deal with a DIFFERENT employee in the pharmacy department each week who is unconfident/unsure on how to go about the transaction and follow safety guidelines. A couple of examples (out of many more instances that made me shake my head) : Sometimes I'm offered hand sanitizer before handed my prescription (that must be witness dosed by a pharmacist) and other times I am not. Or I'd be asked to wait in a certain spot by the pharmacist then a few minutes later literally DEMANDED to move away by a tech. Generally, it seems to be the pharmacists that are these employees. IF I am forced to continue with this pharmacy (due to possible legal restrictions of my prescription for when I first was prescribed this drug back in 2019 I was told I must go here before I moved away from awhile) I do plan to make more detailed notes of these disappointing transactions and talk to management. (NOTE: I realize I may be reviewing a different 'business' operating department but I feel this reflects upon the entire store as I witness MANY customers visiting the pharmacy while doing their shopping)
Sonja from the Stony Plain Safeway seafood/butcher department was amazing! I was looking for a particular brand of sausage, which they didn't have. She want over and above to have it ordered in for me! None of the other 3 Safeways that I went to offered that kind of customer service. I am so grateful and think I found my new regular grocery store. Thank you Sonja!
Easily one of the nicer Safeway’s. The store is very clean and well stocked with a very helpful staff. Sometimes the wait is a bit much at the till because there can be a lack of staff depending on when you are shopping. You can collect and redeem Airmiles which is quite nice.
I enjoy the low lighting level. I wonder if they have one of those low stimuli shop nights as well? Very clean, well set up store. Perhaps a little more room between checkout lineups and front shelves so people walking the front aisles can get through? Appreciate the self check out as well as not having to pay 5c for a bag that is garbage (full of holes and tears) as soon as I get home! The "poopy" pic up sacs are more durable! One has to be price aware and only shop sale items. I could not afford to pick up my monthly groceries here. Many items are 1/2 to 2x what one would pay regularly else where and/or on sale price. What some of us call convenience store pricing. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Wasn't difficult to find someone when needed no matter what department I was in. This app doesn't give half stars so all I can give is 3.5 stars.
Better then the spruce grove safeway. More choices, better store atmosphere. After 25 yrs of going to safeway spruce grove I will miss the employees there!
Had to have cupcakes made and the did just as I asked and had them ready on time. Some of their prices could be lower but all in all I like Stony Safeway
Very dimly lit signage and parking area, half the time not sure if they are open. They only have onr cashier on latet in the evening so you are often forced to use the self checkouts which i hate.
We had wonderful service at Stony Plain Safeway when we visited. We visit Stony Plain once a month for family visits and will be making this our go-to store from now on, rather than stopping in at WalMart on the way.
This is a pretty good Safeway. I like the turkey cranberry sandwich from the deli although sometimes you have to wait because there is no one behind the counter.
I like shopping at Safeway everything is laid out nice all the people at Friendly and I don't have to pay for plastic bags and bag my groceries they'll even take the groceries to your car if you have to
Usually has all the typical groceries at a decent price. If you're looking for unusual or uncommon products, I'd recommend superstore for its wider selection and better prices.
This is one of three grocers in stony plain. It is priced in the mid range compared to the other two. Nice store, veggies are always in good shape and they have a Starbucks in store.
It's not my "go to" grocery store but it's in the top 3 for cleanliness and stock. I find if you keep your eye open for specials, the prices are really good but more importantly they usually have good stock of their flyer items. That's where I use the 'flipp' app. It shows you all the advertised flyer specials. You just input your favorite stores you want to see their flyers, and presto they all show up.that way you can compare prices in the comfort of your most comfortable arm chair! Lol
This is a clean and tidy store. They have a good selection of fresh fruit and vegetables. They have a small organic section which is slowly growing. The staff were courteous but there aren't too many of them around if you need assistance. They have plenty of meal ideas for someone who is 'stuck' on what to make.
A good place for a quick dinner stop. Absolutely love their baked goods and fresh salads. They also have good little apartment size Christmas trees. And they are cheap. Twenty five dollars:).
Good service and products. The store is usually clean. The prices aren't as good as Walmart or super store, but they collect air miles which helps to even it out. The worst part about this store is the parking lot, it has probably the worst lighting I have ever seen on a major brand store. For the size of the parking lot it can be dangerous to see pedestrians.
