Safeway Kensington Calgary

Sharon yelled at me because my botox order was NOT going to delivered to my clinic. This $700.00 botox was compromised & a week after my injections were useless. I spent 3 more months of pain for migraines & TMJ. I have been going to this place for 2 years. Why, because I sew my clothes & design my hats so I don't look like a homeless person? ! Really unprofessional catty behaviour!

This is the worst Safeway that I have ever been in. The store has a third world feel to it. It is dark and feels dirty. The bathroom is disgusting. The food frequently is beyond best before dates. Packaged vegetables and fruit look awful. They frequently are low on or out of stock on products, and don't seem to have much brand variety. Some staff have been nice, but too often, I have found staff to be unfriendly. I only go here because it is close to me. I really don't like being there any more than many of the staff seem to want to be there.

Just here quickly to use the washroom and grab some snacks. A lot of homeless people but we donated to one particular disabled man. I hope he uses it for good and not for bad. Such a sad time for a lot of people. We are struggling ourselves but we hope it helps even if it is just spare change and cold water bottles. The bathroom is a little scary but functionable. They really need two available for use.

Just nothing good to say about this Safeway location other than it’s nearby. The early-mid age lady with short hair there is very unhelpful and she’s been rude to me quite a few times. They often are out of stock on a lot of the foods that I like. They’ve also really messed up on communicating their hours clearly; I had gone there about 4 times and had to go home empty handed. These people really need to step up their game. Employee competence should always be a bigger priority than diversity. They seem to be practicing the polar opposite. I’ve seen them being very disrespectful to those that cannot wear masks due to medical reasons. Which is both terrible and illegal. Why not provide face shields or just respect “my body my choice”

The staff here were not very friendly and cared more about their own conversation then helping us.

Always a sure bet shopping at Safeway. Even in Maui I chose to go to Safeway for their consistency in hours, their attentiveness to hot and cold food and the grab and go variety. It makes having lunch with a friend at the park a little extra meaning.

Nice cashiers.selection of products are limited.it's only about an 8 minute walk from PIP park (that red bridge) so if you are thirsty and looking for a grocery store just go to this safeway.great next to a c-train (15 steps and you are in the store!).

I Recently moved to the area and after trying out all the other grocery stores this one stands out in particular. Firstly the produce workers all seem to be in a good mood which tells me of a good work environment, also the produce manger has been seen twice by me making rounds. I have been greeted by an employee in the meat dept every time without having to wait and the quality of fresh cuts and fish seem above par from other retailers. Good job to everyone who has helped.

I have been shopping at Safeway for years. Today when I went there were no bags. The clerk told me that they wouldn't be giving any more bags out to their customers (?) and tried to sell me a $10.00 cloth bag (I don't think so.) When I refused to pay for the cloth bag and carried my groceries out in two trips, I was told I couldn't do that.

I get if you want to reduce plastic bag usage - charge for them (like other grocery stores) and yes by all means encourage recycling - but give your consumers a choice or people like me will start taking their business elsewhere.

I love that this safeway is here. Such a convenient location! Nice, clean, great selection. Wonderful area. Parking can get a bit full but is usually a space even in weekends.

Deli is horrible, prices aren't marked right. Sandwich signs all have ingredients that they no longer have and staff argue with you.

Conveniently located next to the train station. I would like to see the parking lot repurposed to a square or green plaza.

Safeway is the brand name of the supermarket chain having stores in different locations. I like the Kensington supermarket very much and buy groceries and all daily requirements.

I think they need to retrain their cashiers.
They just stacked everything in 1 plastic bag (chicken, beef, veggies), so raw meat touched the veggies and squished them.
Bag was much too heavy and broke while carrying it home.
Not impressed.

Have very good price for the sushi rice that is important for my life, and nice discount for ice cream too!

Simple, have most things that you'll need, produce can sometimes be stocked fresher but that's about it, theres also a Tim Hortons inside.

Food is good and place is well kept. Below par customer service. I asked for scan in my air miles but the Cashier in meals section denied saying that she doesn’t know how to do it.

Clean and great place to shop for groceries. They also have beautiful petite cakes. However staff are slow, not motivated. Should work on their customer service. Sells expired batteries.

Very nice Safeway, good variety of products. But they need to our when is the bakery hours wanted to order a cake but I never found the Baker.

Clean store. Most of the staff is friendly. Prices are high in comparison to most - even higher then Co-op.

Met a cute girl outside panning for change, thought it was going well till i read her sign, recovering domestic abuse victim. Yikes, everyone was thinking i was her bf. That explains the looks.eyeyieyie

Lots of variety in the store. It’s convenient and well organized. The store is very clean and staff are friendly.

This is literally one of the worst Safeways on the planet. It's highly random when things are in or out of stock, constant shoplifting, it's dark and dirty, everything is a dollar more expensive than other stores because of it's location (and also probably the shoplifting?).

This is not only the worst Safeway in Calgary, Province but in the Country!

Expired food for sale is the normal.

Can’t complain about the service as they have none!

And don’t bother with the Pharmacy unless you want to roll the dice and get the wrong medicine

Never actually made a review before but let’s all save ourselves sometime and misery.

Location! Easy walking distance and access to Transit and parking in the Hillhurst/Sunnyside community. Minus one star for, EXPENSIVE, and LINEUPS.

Sucks customer service ever that was not the first time I went there and they talk and behave with harsh and disrespectful specially the customer service employees

The location is great but that doesn't make up for the fact that the bathroom looks like a torture dungeon and the lobby smells like fecal matter.was outside the store today and witnessed an altercation between two store employees and a man, one of the employees was very unprofessional.

The deil kinda lacks on hot food selection. But overall a nice store. Good if you just buy sale items. Gets busy around 5

It is sort of organized and neat, but they don't believe on discounts at all! It's like they'd rather have stuff thrown out than discounting them. I used to shop at bentwood Safeway and I see huge difference in the way of handling prices.

Best Canadian grocery store. So good the competition had to rebrand to make Safeway look bad. Its lit here fam!

Too bad this safeway doesn't carry all the gift cards like all the other ones do. What a waste of time going there.

Its a Safeway. There is a Tim hortons but no espresso machine there. Second cup is across the street. They have espresso.

Expiry dates on meat are way off. They're very apologetic but it's always happening so it's not an accident.
