Safeway Meadowlark

Generally a good place. You can most often find what you need, staff here is a little apathetic.

Usual Safeway, with highest cost of food than any other store. I would ever go to Safeway to feed my whole family.

This safeway does not seem to be as greedy as other stores, good deals can still be found here. This is my all time fav.store first tue every month you can find better deals. Its a pass.

There were very few tills open and the automatic ones wouldnt scan my items, to the point that I just went to an open lined person working the till instead.

Safeway is my favorite grocery stop. They have everything and the vegetable and meat sections are especially clean, organized and well stocked.

Sadly, won’t be doing any more major shopping at this store! The shopping carts have simply become impossible to negotiate the store! A shame, since the staff are lovely….

Good clean store overall, but somewhat small. Only 3 stars because like all Safeway stores, without sales their items are priced higher than the Walmart pretty much next door, even for the exact same brands and products.

Always clean & well stocked. I love Safeway for the prepared fruit, and vegetables they have when you’re in a hurry. All cleaned & cut! Perfect for quick dinners & fruit snacks. Not much more than buying the fruit whole.

Once and a while Safeway has a better deal than the Walmart. If you capitalize on those once in a while deals. You can actually save a lot of money in food. There's also the ap for Safeway which I think help's you save more money as well. Go Safeway.

Better than some Safeways in that they actually tend to open up lines when it gets busy. Nice little change there. Less busy than some of the other Safeways in the area.

Typical Safeway but make sure if you get hot chicken tenders or chicken wings or whatever make sure you count them because the lady there we asked for ten chicken tenders for my boys at first she gave us 9 then I asked her for one more she dumps them out and puts in 8 instead. So I go back and ask for someone else to help me out and finally I get the ten chicken tenders I originally asked for. Someone needs to go back to school to learn how to count I guess lol

It's always about location, it's in a great neighbourhood for the people who live in Meadowlark which is in Edmonton Alberta! Haven't been in one since I moved to BC, and just moved back hopefully to go back to work! Anyways the store layout is different than most Safeway you go into! Towards the middle of the front of the store you always find coffee & fresh bakery goods! Self check out to, customer related check out which is always busy! Then theirs there meat department, bakery for those fresh items usually by the time of day you get there! It depends on what you're looking for! There's even fresh cut flowers! For that someone, or not someone special in your life! The best I recommend is go take a look

It's not their fault the food inflation prices are not however it could be a little more price effective not everybody has some money in that Safeway requires

Good store, friendly staff, always have what I need in a grocery store. Prices could be a little more on the cheaper side but decent.

Nice clean store and well organized, this is one of my favorite Safeway stores in Edmonton. The staff are always friendly and go out of their way to help you.

A cashier is very paranoid when it comes to serving patrons. She wouldn't accept my Airmiles Card unless it was outside the "plastic barrier, " it's not as if Covid 19 doesn't let a "plastic barrier" stop it from drifting around it. She made me stand 6 feet away before she put my bags into the cart. When I questioned her about this, she said she "has a family, " and so do a lot of people. I mentioned to her when I was paying that I wasn't 6 feet away from her, but again she pointed to the "plastic barrier. " Again, I pointed out that the "barrier" doesn't stop Covid. I believe she should be working in the office or just stay at home with her paranoia.

Safeway has changed their bagging system to now require your own bags and package goods yourself. This normally wouldn't be an issue because lots of other stores do this. But safeways prices are exorbitant compared to the competition, superstore is much cheaper and also requires you to bag your own groceries. Furthermore, safeway's selection is lacking in comparison to most other grocery stores right now. It is an over prices and small place to shop just for essentials.

Good selection of goods, knowledgeable workers. Prices vary but you'll get your money worth here.

Completely messed up my wife's birthday cake asked for a hello kitty cake which was fine but asked for marble cake 2 layers with chocolate icing in the center.
What do we get left side vanilla right side chocolate and custard filling which we specifically said no custard.
Never buy custom cakes from safeway

Good, clean, and a wide variety of fresh foods and product's to shop for, pricing was very reasonable which gave me a good shopping experience

Most of the staff has been very courteous when I shop without a mask. However 4 ladies were not. A cashier refused to hand me my receipt saying You don't have a mask on, stand back so I can reach it out to you. I notice she was very courteous to the masked customers in front of and behind me. The lady at self-serve and 2 other guards gave me the same cold shoulder while greeting masked customers professionally. I will definitely continue shopping here as services has always been top notch except for the aforementioned ladies. Maybe some training would help their conduct? Thank you.

Not my usual place but it was nice clean and friendly. Only downside it is not where I shop set up different took longer.

Not many employees working there anymore mostly only on till open so in average you have to always wait to check out. Bakery is fantastic tho puts out great deserts! It's what saves this store in my opinion.

Easy stop on the way home for a loaf of bread or jug of milk. Has fairly generic selection, nothing out of the ordinary for a medium-sized grocery store.

Have gone there a few times for their western union with no issues, today dealing with Faye was a different issue. Went to the desk and instantly a man asked how he could help me, let him know I was needing a western union he called over the speaker for help. Faye walked out of the cash office and to a check out and said "Uh, you'll have to wait" while she did a pickup. I worked at a Safeway in cash office before, you help customer service desk first, but whatever I waited the 5 or so minutes.
She walked over and immediately was rude. Asked for the MTCN number, gave it to her, then she said "and what's your name? " Told her and she cut me off, rolled her eyes and said "uh no. I need your ID" ok, well ask for it. You only asked my name. I have a PR card which for some reason dont have addresses on them, but that has never been an issue when dealing with Rick there or any other WU location. She then again, rolled her eyes and said "I need something with an address". Stated I didnt know if I had anything, it's never been an issue before and if there was an issue I'd be happy to go elsewhere. Found a piece of paper with an address on it and gave it to her. She acted like I was taking up valuable time away from her. I had to repeat my phone number multiple times because she kept cutting me off.
The type of behavior and attitude she had would have never been acceptable when I worked there. We would have gotten chewed out for it. Said thank you and left the store instead of getting what I needed. Honestly didnt want to deal with Faye anymore.

Gotta love how most of the employees take up all the tables when you are trying to eat lunch. I'm pretty sure they have a staff room.won't be going back if I can't eat lunch after I buy it there

This is my local Safeway. I like the shop itself, always fairly clean, the staff - particularly the evening crew are quite helpful and considerate. There are times that the fruit and veg are pretty sad to look at, but that’s not too often. I will commend all that work there for putting up with the petty thieves that unfortunately make their way through, however the team should not feel it is their responsibility to stop a criminal. I have even encountered 2 female employees chase after a shoplifter. Yikes!

Not much of a Safeway shopper but today I did some shopping at this store. Pleasantly surprised with some good product deals on sale and always good customer service. I'll be back again to see what they have on sale next time I shop for groceries.

Expensive, not many more choices than a Nofrills and NO employes to help you. Doesn't worth the extra they charge on everything

It's a good place for a wide variety of grocery needs. Friendly service and staff and a good pharmacy.

Me and my husband recently moved to the meadowlark area. And we do 80% of our shopping at this safeway. Always a nice atmosphere and the staff is amazing and very helpful.

This Safeway continues to impress. They have recently started an evening of sensory friendly shopping so that people who are easily overwhelmed can shop in comfort. Very clean store with very kind and helpful staff.

You find everything and anything here except for cottage cheese. Pricing ususal, but some products are unexpectedly cheaper than wallmart. I like to buy my fresh groceries and baked products from here. They are fresh and tastes amazing. Must try muffins and cheese cake slices.
They also have good cheese products. I found almost every type of cheese there. Its my go to place for shopping grocery.

Good selection over all prices are on the higher side as is expected by safeway/sobeys. We shop here for quick pick up items but not for our big grocery shopping trips.

I love shopping at this Safeway, it is easy to find what I am looking for, and if I can't find something, the staff are always available to help.

Expensive. Have brought home many expired items, and had to return them because they are not thorough. The staff are lookist towards anyone who wears black and has colored hair. Shopped here for 3 years and the last 2 times they called out security over intercom to the aisles I was in. I know also a few people who have at some point at other Safeway locations had this done to them as well. I contacted sobeys customer service with this info, they havent responded. Shop at better grocery stores, stores who treat customers like they are welcome!

Diane in the deli is amazing, she is always so fast at making my sandwich and is pleasant to talk to. Sometimes she seems frustrated when they are super busy, but when no one else is there she is lovely to talk to! Thanks Diane!

I've never been to a worse Safeway. Items are often miscoded with wrong price, takeaway food is often freezer burned and their produce is never fresh and even out of code. Do yourself a favor and go to the Walmart a few steps away.

I come here for the pharmacy. Some of the staff are not very friendly. I often consider using a different safeway instead.

The service was very good staff.
The fresh produce was terrible.
Old and not fresh the yams were old and going rotten.
The bananas too ripe.
