This is one of my go to Safeway. It’s the one closest to my house, clean and organized aisles. Plus the staff are always friendly to me which is extremely kind of them. Good job
Just make sure your shopping fits in one hour, unless you get a ticket.it is not convenient for seniors and families with baby which usually need more time for shopping. Also the average price of groceries is higher than other big stores.
Unlike other Safeways the bakery is. The fresh fruit & vegetables are great. The butcher I talked to was very well informed. I would go back if in the area again.
Incredibly discriminatory business. Old ladies there have the balls to be talking to us and using "you people" when talking to us. Nice way to talk to handicapped
Half gallon of milk costs nearly the same as a gallon. That pricing trend carries throughout the whole store. The onions always look like they've been pulled out of the trash. I've found mouldy berries more than once. Products are often 0-3 days before expiration. Selection is poor. Loss prevention has an obnoxious presence. Avoid this store if you can.
Other than a tight parking lot and being a smaller store, it's a good location. Friendly staff, good product selection, clean and organised. Wouldn't hesitate to use again.
It was very clean and organized, probably the best looking Safeway I have been to in Calgary. The one downside was that the ailes were tiny. It felt a little cramped and overwhelming to have everything so tightly packed.
Booked for vaccination. They called when I was on the way saying they would not vaccinate me. Why didn't they call early? Spent the whole hour arguing with the pharmacists there. Don't use that pharmacy.
Worst Safeway! Decided to buy dinner and got a parking ticket for $80 because I went to the pharmacy first. If you plan on buying anything, please remember to add $80 to your bill for parking!
I stopped in to see what it looked like after the renovation. They have done a nice job cleaning up both the in and outside of the building. The way they configured the produce area helps to maximize what’s available. They also have a nice hot food, soup and pizza area. Great to see this little gem with a new lease on life.
Fantastic staff so helpful and very nice displays of everyday items. Great location closer to the bus and lots of Parking. Peaceful and relaxing to shop and I love the lighting as it isn't glaring like some other stores. Small town atmosphere! It was worth the wait for all the long renovations!
Been going to this Safeway for over 30 years. Though smaller than most Safeways, always had what I needed. With the renovations, it has refreshed and updated the store. For the most part the renovations have brought some new services to this store. What I don't like is that the parking in front of the store which was very tight before, now is even more difficult for larger vehicles to get into or maneuver around the corners. There is no space for both vehicles and pedestrians to get in. They also seem to have tightened up the space inside the building and some aisles are narrower.
It's in a bit of a shambles right now due to remodeling but I've made this my local supermarket over the pandemic and it's always had what I need and usually isn't super busy and what more do you need?
First time visiting, amazing staff and security guard was proving outstanding customer service. Loved my experience, thank you to the security to help maintain covid rules and staff was really helpful.
They do not appear to be monitoring crowd size like they’re supposed to; it was a total zoo in there. The rennos are resulting in the store being super cramped, so those of us with cause for concern over COVID don’t exactly feel safe.
Open during renovations but it's difficult to find items as aisles seem to shift & get rearranged. This makes it a little difficult to maintain social distance while searching.
Absolutely horrible Covid-19 enforcement. It's an absolute gong show. People walking everywhere up and down whatever isle. Walking right past you within 2m. Staff doing the same.
At least they started wiping the tils regularly. They weren't doing that for a long while.
One way in and out with no enforcement whatsoever. You'll just walk right into a group of 20 people frantically moving everywhere whole the security guard stands there with a glazed look.
2 stars simply for location. Superstore beats them in every way but it's across downtown so I unfortunately have to go to this wretched place.
Staff are insanely rude. If you don't like your job then find something else to do, don't make it the customers problem.
Love this location. Super friendly staff, great pharmacy; my only complaint is that the selection isn't as good, likely due to the smaller store size. They are currently undergoing renovations so I expect my rating to improve in the coming weeks:)
Convenient location and lots of parking. Currently undergoing renovations and can’t wait for the inside will look like after it done. Usually has all the items I need and stuff are very friendly.
The cashier, Suzy D was incredibly rude to me. Threw my raw chicken in with my produce and when I asked her to kindly separate it, she rolled her eyes and said they usually don’t do that. Then proceeded to have an attitude when I asked her to scan my air miles.
The grand finale was even better. She held my receipt out to me and when I asked her to put it in the bag she scoffed and paused for 5 seconds, almost as though I was inconveniencing her. I complained to the front desk manager who was kind.
Always nice service, the floors are kept clean, and the washrooms are great. Some of the nicest people I have ever met. The manager is cool as well. One time there was an issue with a customer trying to start a fight when the manager walked out. I thought he was going to crush this punk cause he looks as big as the jolly Green giant but he handled the situation like a pro.
It's a standard Safeway, and fine in regards to being a grocer- does the job, so would get 4* but the persistent occasional begging problem just at the store entrance drags the score down to 3* or a 'neutral score'.
If they consistently cleared out the beggars/druggies at the front or gets them arrested/barred for trespassing, then the score will return to 4 stars.
Its a great downtown location with a large selection, altho it's smaller then some other locations which can make it difficult to find everything in one shop one might say.
The produce in containers is wet, making it go bad within a day or two. I’m talking spinach and lettuce. A waste of food. Other places seem to have the same products with dry produce inside.
I wish this store would not sell wet lettuce and spinach. Please consider this when selling your product. Is it to make people come back and re-buy (increasing your sales), or to invite complaints like this? I’m guessing the former.
Smaller store but had what we were looking for, not the cheapest option for a monthly shop but a fantastic stop for those little things you may have forgotten.
I love shopping at Gayway! Saw a super hot Indian-looking man in black track pants, white t shirt or tank and black sporty jacket with a very nice silver chain. He was so handsome, we exchanged looks, but I was shy. Love to see him again! I believe he got in a silver Mercedes. Oh yeah this is supposed to be about Safeway! Whoops! Safeway is great and has wonderful products at competitive prices and beautiful scenery as mentioned earlier!
Counter staff is friendly and efficient. Consistantly see stock staff without half their uniforms however, shirts untucked, no aprons, no name tags, ect. Dont see this at other locations. Prices run consistent with other locations. Product seems to change locations regularly. Might find what you want in 1 aisle one week and in another the next week (sour cream was with yogurt a month ago, now its with cheeses, which if you know this store isnt exactly close proximity). Always seem to be missing something you want. ALWAYS. No butcher counter, nor seafood counter. 3 different frozen sections. 2 different prepared meats sections. Prepared foods seem to change often (sandwiches, wraps, flatbreads, ect). Parking lot is awkward. IMO probably the worst Safeway in western Canada if not worst grocery store. Needs to renovate as everything seems to be dated from parking, to layout to the building itself. For the most part staff is friendly and professional and that is the only reason i rate it as high as i do. Should still have everyone in uniform tho.
