Great grocery store with convenient location and lots of parking. Good selection but a bit on the high price side.

Good Chinese food but we had chili pepper in last chicken order, didn't expect that and my wife is allergic

I buy flowers every week, and the elder lady at floral department is awesome! She works really hard and very helpful. Thank you!

I like this Safeway. Always friendly and the security guard is the friendliest young man ever. He recognizes me all the time and always greets me with a smile and nice comments.

Very inconvenient that once your pharmacy closes nobody can buy anything stronger than advil for pain. Incredibly frustrating after doing labor work all day.

Run of the mill grocery store.
Selection is decent and staff is friendly and polite.

Only major complaint is they're not open past 10 at night.

Of course all the pictures show fully stocked shelves of fresh looking produce. Not so in reality. Too many times I leave disappointed, having to go to another grocery store to find what I need.

I don't pay much attention in there but it seems like they've got their safety regulations and all that, and pretty good service.

Staff is very helpful, I needed a spoon for me yogurt, I couldn't find, the lady at the diy check outs, brought me to one are but it was all forks, then she took me to deli where they had spoons, I was very grateful, I just wanted my Mandolorian Strawberry Danone yogurt.
I hope this Safeway stays, it's been here a long time and it's heavily relyed upon by the local elderly and students.

Good selection of groceries, extremely poor customer service. Since billing them for my wasted time won't work, I'll just shop at Loblaws: less selection, more intelligence.

Discourteous and disrespectful staff, especially toward vision impaired customer like myself. If they don't like working there stay home and write violin concertos, who is the manager? Fire him, I think Wendy"s are looking.

Very large store, a little bit of everything for people. Close to Grant Macewan that you can walk.if you don't buy groceries and 4- 12 packs of pop or something silly.lol. Store was clean.

Very nicely laid out, good quality veggies and fruits. I didn't check the meat department or bakery as this is not my regular location. That said it is much better run and taken care of then the capalano location. Cleaner and better lay out.

It was ok. Although the staff were all adhering to the Covid-19 protocols, there wasn't the same customer experience as with other Safeways in the area.

There's always good value for your money. I look forward to returning in hopes of having a similar experience as I have and I know Safeway is known for.

First time in the store, and I was amazed at the size, the cleanliness and the incredible selection from one end to the other.

Clean, great produce selection and staff is somewhat friendly. I always wave hello to the security guy at the door because he is always welcoming and friendly.

Nancy C who checked me out today was completely rude, spoke with such a sharp tone, condescending. It seems like the older cashiers are very hit or miss. They completely hate their jobs at Safeway. Don't enter the lines with the cashiers over 40.

Its the only grocery store that I shop at now! Good staff and great prices and clean and well organized! Love it there!

Multiple different produce items were expired and going bad, yet still on the shelf. On top of this, Morley, the cashier, was miserable. Super unfriendly, barely said two words, and had all the groceries piling on top of each other and falling off while I was trying to pack them. He definitely should not be on front cash if he has no interest in being polite or professional.

Best groceries in the (soon-to-be-renamed) Oliver Food District. Safeway's generally have the absolute best customer service i have ever experienced from a regular store. Some specialty and artisan stores may have staff with more training in specialty areas. Safeway excels where it really counts. Maintaining a wide selection of quality products, Customer service, stocking shelves and keeping tills open that have humans staffing them. It may cost a few dollars extra compared to some budget food outlet, however. My food at Safeway is always treated like food. Never like cargo. And never like a soccer ball. (dare you to order poptarts on amazon) I wish Safeway still had their cookie club, my kids would have loved it. That's what they get for being 20 years late to the party.

Always shop at Safeway if you have the choice. Support human workforces and evade the robot cashier whenever possible.

Terrible service from a cashier today very rude and thought she was better than a customer and saying that I was not worth remembering talk to Joe the manager about this unbelievable event, the hospitality some employees treat their customers Is ridiculous

Good on you guys for going green! If we are going to inconvenience customers by not having plastic bags. At least make the paper bags the same cost and not more than plastic. “Bring your own” doesn’t work for people who stop in randomly or shop for a living for customers. Please offer biodegradable bags. It’s not on the customer to foot the bill for a multi million dollar company to improve for their customers

The inventory was stocked nice and full. Had a great variety to choose from which is what i love.

Workers are so so so discustingly rude to their customers. Outrageous. I will never be back also theirs mice droppings on their cans. I say please choose another store. Please. If I could give this - 20 stars I would. Their are all kinds of drug addicts all around. You get harassed by them before entering the store. Please choose a different liquor store!

I come to your store almost once or twice a week and I just loved your produce, dairy, meat, bakery and floral departments.
Most of your staff are friendly and helpful.
I'm glad your smoker staff had stopped smoking by the entrance doors and as a result, your rating of 5 rating is back!
Thanks to management for making my shopping experience pleasant.

Same employee (4th time caught) having her smoke and coffee at 11: 29 am close to the main entrance doors.
Amazing isn't it that this employee couldn't care less about the city's smoking bylaw.
It seems to me she has management wrapped in her pinky finger.
My rating stays at 1 star rating until this issue is resolved for good!

1st September 2020
3rd time seeing the same employee (skinny, dyed blonde hair with a pony tail and wears glasses) smoking within the perimeters of the entrance doors just before 1pm.
The assistant manager happened to be at the customer service area and advised him about this and he immediately went out to check on this employee.
I wonder why this particular employee seems to not care and really challenging the smoking bylaw and not respecting management and customers passing through your doors who ends up being subjected to second hand smoke?
From a 5 to a 1 rating as this smoking issue has been going on since

What would it take for management to enforce the city smoking bylaw among his smoker staff?
Note: I'm also concern with this staff hygiene, I'm hoping she's not assign to any fresh produce, bakery goods, or anything she'll end up touching without proper hand washing protocol considering she's a smoker.

This employee wears glasses, has dyed blond hair about shoulder length. The description will help management to have a serious talk with this individual as obviously she has no respect for the city bylaw and Safeway customers.

Best Safeway I've ever shopped at!
Great selection of goods, fresh produce, lots of desserts, on sale stuff and best of all, friendly and helpful staff.

This has become our Norm coming to Safeway at Oliver Square although we have found some great deals otherwise from here, we apologize but mostly our commitment is to Safeway

Safeway as always its the usually busy scene with peeps scurrying in all directions. GATHERING THE GOODS. Always clean. My first stop, pick up pharmacy. No worries, just be there before 6pm. Whoops "IT'S SIX. " I'm on trouble now. Nope not the case, and I was especially honored to see the metal gate stopping its decent and begin it's climb to save my day. Which it did! Special thanks to its pharmacy division.

Now with Arms totally loaded. Too cool for a cart. Nope, first mission "Pharmacy". Second mission, something quick for home. Did I say quick? OMG the line up. As I pull up to the cashiers thinking this will take forever. Like wheres all the cashiers? Sudden feelings of disappointment began creeping towards my so called illusion of a "Quick Trip".

But they too were shattered by a swift crew and I was on my way within 5 minutes. Wow. This definately was a fast and courteous team working in harmony. As I was leaving, with a smile on my face and the weight of the world no longer on my shoulders. I remember briefly stopping to look back. (Well I had a minute now.) To my amazement I noticed that Everyone, customers included, wore a smile. It must truely be infectious.because I don't remember having one when I first walked in. Thanks Safeway.

To me a place is made or broken by the staff and the staff here are lovely; despite doing such exhausting, underappreciated, frontline work they've always been polite and helpful to me.
The selection is pretty nice; the produce in particular has never disappointed me.

Extremely overpriced they take complete advantage of the people in the downtown core with only two shopping experiences they able to happen.

This is my go to grocery store. Between a massive selection and great customer, they have a customer appreciation day on the 1st Tuesday of every month. Spend $50 or more and save 15% of your bill.

Surprisingly nice grocery store. I lived downtown for 5 years now and didn't realize how good the store was.

Big clean and nice sales, plus Nicholas was kind enough to bag my eggs separately and put a rubber band around them so shout out to him. Pleasant experience all around!

Cashiers and many of the floor staff are great. This is the only grocery store I go to (out of 4 or 5) that I see cashiers consistently cleaning/sanitizing the tills and making sure they wipe the debit machine after each use, which is awesome. Feel bad for them, though, having to constantly put up with people not listening to the Covid procedures. The one girl I had the other day had to tell every single person in line in front of me (and the one right after me) to please stop putting their things on the belt too soon, or to please keep social distancing. She seemed frazzled and I can imagine that it's like that all day long. Perhaps better signage would remind customers to do their part, the workers can only do so much.

Anyway, great store, easily one of my favourite grocery stores in the city. 4 stars instead of 5 only because they are more expensive than other chain stores for the same items and they often only have 2-3 tills open during busy rushes

This safeway location has lost my trust two times. First time they charged ETS tickets the new higher price even before it is officially implemented, claiming ETS sets the price. When I call then out in it they gave me a feeling like I was being unpleasant. The second time an item's scanned price is higher than displayed price, and when I asked about the scanner price accuracy code, they claimed they no longer has this policy. If this is true then why is Safeway still listed as a participant in the scanner accuracy code on retailcouncil.org? Your lousy computer system has wasted my time on multiple occasions. Going to the grocery should be stress-free. Not this one, unless you enjoy a fight.

I would recommend all shoppers to double check your receipt before walking out as based on other reviewers it seems scanner price errors is rather common.

They have almost everything you coukd possibly need and a good central location. Only down side is the prices reflect that location.

Went to buy groceries and nasty staff name Stephanie or Stacey went in front of me I asked her why she went in front of me she started yelling at me and then she told me that she knows procedure of costumer relationship I couldn't belive it not enough she lied to my face but yet she was vulgar and obnoxious and the other staff was there watching amd dodnt know what to say if you want treat costumers like that sorry covid not covid quit your job if you are liar or under stress

Their to-go lunch and dinner options are the best I've seen from a grocery store! We got the turkey breast, you'll find it beside the rotisserie chicken, and it was juicy and flavourful, especially for white meat!

Went there for hami melons. Did not find them. Loved the set up of the store. It was very clean and staff was efficient.

Safeway is a lifetime of certainty in every confidence your time and money is never wasted without constant competitive shopping checks ahead. Your unplanned at a moments notice in time constraints is never wasted and getting the best quality and price guaranteed everytime.

I like this grocery store for all the right reasons. The staff are great, especially at the pharmacy - all are really helpful. They are usually stocked up on everything I need including fresh produce. And I think it's a myth that it is all that much more expensive that Wal-Mart, Superstore, etc (at least in central Edmonton), but perhaps someone could prove me wrong.

The only thing that bothers me is the second entrance is always closed. During COVID I get it, but every year that door is open for fewer and fewer hours in a day.

To sum up, great place to do grocery shopping. If you live downtown I'd say Safeway is your best bet.

This Safeway has a great selection of produce, fine cheese, and a great meats area as well. Looks like it’s been remodelled in the past 5 years. Not the cheapest but it’s worth it for the quality you get.
