Safeway Shawnessy Village Shopping

Bakery shelves bare at 6 pm. Left and went to the nearby Cobs who had plenty of stock.
All the other dept seemed to be reasonably stocked

Friendly & helpful staff. Fresh fruit & veg of exceptional quality for a grocery store. Nice fresh bread. Unlike Superstore just a few doors down the street, Safeway doesn't sell fish & poultry that's rotting.

Many good stores in mall. Parking by Pet Valu is always full though, and parking lot in poor shape.

It's a Safeway, pretty standard compared to others. This one is newly renovated so it's pretty nice inside. But the prices are super high like usual.

The renovations to the store are coming along nicely. It will be a big improvement and the staff are excellent.

I was in here on Jan 15th grabbed a few things and went to the cashier, her name was Linda and she was at number 5. She was the rudest person I have ever encountered. I even told her she was rude. Now I know how hard it is to work in customer service, I'm a server myself.
But to be talked to the way she did was absolutely uncalled for.
I have emailed the store and called. I have got no responce in how this should be dealt with. Someone better get back to me asap. Just so rude.

Over all had a amazing experience. Had plenty of options for food choices for me and the kids! Was overall a clean store.
I had a struggle with finding artichokes and garlic. And one young man was able to help me and was over all extremely nice. We had a laugh over our shared Russian background, he was named Mikhail. The cashiers were nice but seemed like they wanted their day to be over
Would 10/10 recommend. Have always been nice to me and my little ones. Especially the young fellow I made friends with
Although it is surrounded by poor souls who were left homeless, don’t let the outside of this Safeway fool you! Such a nice place.
So sad to hear people are leaving bad reviews on a place so full of sweet people always willing to help.

Goto grocery shop. Voila is now making it even more convenient.took the curbside pickup.they generously added some replacement items when what we ordered were not available.fresh as always.

Helpfull staff.oraganized shelves.good choice of flowers and fine quality produce. Their bakery is pretty good too. They have many self checkouts open which helps when you are going for a quick one.

Great atmosphere, everyday sales specials, clean, nicely displayed produce and stocked shelves. Has a welcoming feeling when you go inside.

I don't go anywhere else for my Birthday cakes. For some reason Safeway has never disappointed me as far as taste and quality goes. This last Birthday I had what I would say is probably my favorite birthday cake I've ever had to date. Vanilla inside with delicious custard middle, buttercream icing and succulent strawberries on top.yummy yum yum, it was absolutely amazing and I can't wait to order the same one for my next birthday. Thank you Safeway and the ladies running the dessert cafe and especially whoever made me this fantastic cake. You should get a bonus or a raise in my opinion.

This review is actually more for the “click&collect“ service at this location it is called “Voila”by Safeway - they are not seeming very busy but the service is excellent - Pat is the lady who takes care of this service in the evenings I have been there for picking up my groceries - she is careful and does a great job with the groceries- she is friendly and has great customer service - they groceries are usually always available but out of the things I have ordered if something is unavailable she always makes sure to see that I am aware it was not included. I can pay online & she told me they honor the flyer sales prices as well as the bonus air miles points or 15% off the first Tuesday of each month. Thank you Pat and Safeway staff for your hard work! You make this mama’s life a little bit easier when it comes to having the groceries all set up online! 5 Stars

I don't know what the problem is but the ladies in the self checkout are so mean. On all occasions they either ignore me or it takes repeated attempts to get a response from them. Even have a good day won't get me response. I think it's because I am Asian. This happened the 5th time now. Will never come here except for the bakeries. They make pretty good cakes.

I get a mixed feeling when shopping here.the lighting varies thru out the store and there is no windows with the daylight being able to shine in so even though it was morning it felt like it was evening with the dark lighting?

The atmosphere and service at Safeway are way better than any of the other grocery stores in the area.

During the height of illness in Calgary, upon arrival a shopper with no mask. Asked a clerk about red pepper sauce and he didn't make a move to look at me. Self checkout lady was crusty the, condescending, overtly polite just after rolling her eyes at me. Shop elsewhere, they couldn't care less.

We stopped for coffee at the Starbucks. Worst cup of coffee I have had in a long time. It was warm. Ridiculous price for a warm specialty cup of coffee.

Upon entering the store, first thing I noticed was a customer and an employee with masks NOT covering their noses.
While on that subject why can neither staff nor customers follow the simple to understand directional arrows?
The store was clean and well stocked. The staff member I dealt with was very polite.

No baskets at store. Only choice is to carry your stuff or take a cart. Every other Safeway I've been to has baskets except this one. Not good for grabbing stuff quick after work.

Generally clean & convenient, but I just found that my bag of onions is half-mouldy, and they've decided to eliminate baskets (at least for the duration of COVID). So, at least at present, I can't say I recommend them.

Fantastic well kept store

Every time I visit this location is it a pleasant experience, it is almost always clean, well maintained, quiet and well stocked. Its never busy when I visit but cant say it never gets busy.

Parking lot is large and well maintained.shopping carts are almost always put away
Staff is always present and friendly

There is nothing negative to say about this particular safeway location however i cannot rate 5/5 simply because there is always room for improvement and perfect does not exist.

I and my kids love coming here to get groceries, the staff is helpful and the security guard provides excellent customer service and I appreciate Safeway's hard work. Thank you!

Was my favourite grocery store once upon a time. Doesn't seem like staff wants to be there anymore either.

Very busy but I also went two days before Christmas. Everything was good except for the cashier. Nice but said inappropriate content even for me.

Excellent customer service at this location. Staff are always very helpful and friendly. Today was a great example - even at the peak of the Christmas Eve rush Cori still managed to give us some of the best customer service we have received all season.

First in order to get fresh bread Compliments brand I needed to ask a beautiful lady in Bakery to go look in back. Having bread with 4 days left on shelf is not acceptable in middle January. Positive side was they had 6 milks for my client. Parking was easy thankfully. Today is Jan 17 2020. Cashier was excellent. Melody handled order quite professionally and happy cheerful mood.

Its been one of my to go place to get some cheese and meat as they have some deals especially for the artisan cheese, because of that i had been more adventurous with cheese. The staffs here are friendly and helpful. Love how organize the store and always enough supplies in the shelf. Fresh produce, love the grapes here its always sweet.

Need more tills open. When I'm watching 3 employees talking about grey cup an slowcooker recipes and theres 4 people in only 1 open line.

Like to get flowers here because the stuffs are very friend and helpful. Get a great help from the staff to put different variety of flowers together for my wife's birthday.

This store is alright but has gone down in quality over the years.

Some of the items I was particularly interested in are no longer stocked and of course it is rather irritating so consider that when reading this review.

They appear to me to be gradually reducing what items and brands they carry, getting rid of some reasons to shop there over other places (in that out of the nearby grocery stores - Safeway, Superstore, Sobeys, Co-op and Walmart - Safeway was the only location that sold certain brands and items).

That being said, their bread, when purchased on the day it was made, it tasty and if frozen soon after will taste about as fresh coming out of the freezer (if not left too long).

Another strong point is their store-brand cheese. I've only had the cheddar and mozza, so I can't comment on other varieties, but Safeway's cheddar and mozza are far better than the /Name/ brands for my particular tastes.

Incoming true story about the cheese:

One day, there was a crowd of about four or five persons around the cheese mentioned and each person was waiting either for a customer or an employee to finish blocking the cheese.

I forget who brought it up but someone mentioned how thankful they were that Safeway didn't drop their cheese after being bought out. Another replied in the affirmative and commented on how good the cheddar was, specifically. I concurred along with each remaining memeber of the group and then the cheese was free and each selected theirs and silently went about their day.

Will never shop at this Safeway. They have undercover cops loss prevention officers who made a big deal and scene of people not dressing nice into the store. It is a grocery store! Have to understand some people came right after work to buy a few items.

Never overly busy. Good but not a wide selection of veggies. Like the pharmacy staff and Thier advice and service. Use Safeway in the US and much the same layout and selection

The store has removed name brands and replaced them with generic. Attempts to contact the company have produced no responses. Staff remain very friendly.

The rating is only for one of the staff’s poor attitude I experienced yesterday. Her manner shown isn’t even worth of 1 star.

This Safeway has been one of the favorites for my hubby since it has various selections and products are well organised. However, when I visited yesterday, one of the staff’s attitude made me so upset.

When I greeted the checkout staff, she ignored me and just asked me for airmile card. I thought she might not hear me cuz she looked quite old. But she definitely ignored me again. When I said “Have a good one. ” after paying, I felt like she even acted like I was invisible.

I haven’t met someone like her in any situation but from her. She should know the basic social manner.

A tad outdated this place needs a Reno. The service is great as well as the staff. Just bring this place to 2019

I think I love the vibe from the staff more then the actual products. I find it was kinda limited as far as variety. I think the focus is more on organics, which is totally fine. I'd shop here again, but not on a regular basis

The Store Amazing. Western Union service very disappointed.all the time they had differents problems to receive and pay the money. Not friendly in this area at all.

The Safeway in Shaughnessy is a beautiful store to shop for all your grocery needs. Staff is very helpful.
