A terrible staff could reduce a review from 5 stars to 1 star. The complaint is about an old Chinese staff today, around 2pm, not the nice guy" Eric", Eric is very professional and polite.when Eric called another chinese staff member came to help, the experience of shopping went to the other end. The worst experience AF I was wondering if they could top up my prepaid mastercard, this guy said they can't scan QR code with very inpatient attitude, I can see 'anger ' clearly shown on his face, if you can't scan QR code, just lemme know safeway can't top up sence+, if speaking English is difficult to describe your mind, then speak Chinese, try to turn off your anger when a customer need your help, or you are ruining your company.
My grandson works at this Safeway and everyday I get told they miss treat him and are rude and pushy towards him. They racial profile him because of his skin colour and they take advantage of that. The older ladies at this Safeway need to stay home or to be told to be respectful
The ladies at the deli have zero customer service. I walked up said hello they just looked at me then continued on with what they were doing didn't greet me nothing. Another person walked up behind me instantly got helped. Maybe because of the color of my skin. The ladies in the deli are bad here
I went there today and I had $ 10 in quarters I paid with it, but Wendy E.the cashier was huffing and puffing when I was taking my $ out I am very disappointed, she looked upset, eventhogth I was nice to her she looked very upset. We are allowed to pay with quarters $ it is money, please tell your staff to be more sensitive as nowadays people are struggling with food prices, and finding cashiers like Wendy E.makes it even more difficult for us, teach your employees good manners please. And yes we are allowed to pay with quarters it is money!
Bright attractive and recently renovated store. This store always had a great meat, bakery and produce departments. I love the sales in the meat department especially. It has clean and good friendly service
Omg the staff is not very friendly to the customers not all but i think they have to educate them regarding customer service some are already old as if they are the boss that's not the way it works.
The facelift has made the overall experience in the store so much more homey and it's now probably the nicest and most welcoming grocery store in the area.
Save way on Grange is nicely upgraded with great store layout and signage, the store offers self and counter checkout, curbside pick up, lots of parking, ready to eat meals, etc. It wheelchair accessible, I really enjoyed the open view when I entered the store, check it out for yourself.
This location carries a variety of local products which I love. Went during the day and was amazed at how quiet it was. Even on the weekends it never seems too busy, which is nice.
I am very happy with the new look of this store. It appears that the manager Christian and his great staff are doing a wonderful job. The recent renovations have given this place an air of freshness and openness which matched with friendly and helpful staff contribute to a peaceful and smooth grocery shopping experience.
Nice store. My only complaint is that they do not keep their shelves well stocked. When looking for items I sometimes find the shelf empty. Also on occasions I have found expired items still on the shelf.
CSR stocking shelves at pharmacy- rude, loud and insensitive - an experienced senior that should known better. I won’t be back to this location because of him and the embarrassment he caused me.
I called ahead to see if they have goat milk, they said yes they carry it. I drove all the way there having no luck at the other two markets I just went to, thinking calling and checking first would save me time. But the Indian girl at customer service did not check even after being on hold for 5 mins thinking she checked. But when I got there, I realized they don't carry it. I went to customer service to ask her and the same Indian lady said yeah, just go ahead and check for yourself. I was baffled, the store was dead, and she said she couldn't take 1 min to check. She rather me drive all the way there to check. Her excuse was she isn't allowed to leave her post. Lazy lazy ppl work here. Poor customer service and attitude.
Great service every time! Also this location respects my medical mask exemption and I'm always treated with respect when I shop here. It's a breath of fresh air to not face discrimination while being groceries for my family.
Went for my covid shot. The pharmacist, Debbie K was excellent: friendly, knowledgeable and I didn't feel a thing. And I got to spend my 15 minutes wait time shopping for eats. AWESOME!
They make the best sandwiches, the meat is as fresh as it gets as well as there is a huge selection of meat to choose from. Way way better than anything subway could ever offer. I will only be buying sandwiches from Safeway from here on out. And the customer service was great as well
Clean store with good sanitary measures in place. It is decently stocked and has good quality meat. Prices are a little high, but that's to be expected. The checkout time is quick and it is in an accessible location just off the Whitemud and close to many other amenities.
The only reason for 2 stars, it is that tolerates people not wearing a mask which is the law and a must for the safety of their employees and customers. If a person has an exemption only one should be allowed and not the whole family.
A little expensive compared to other grocery stores. I spent $399 on a cartfull that i would pay less than $300 at Superstore. I went to this store for the convenience of it being in my neighborhood. My trip was on the 1st of the month which is %15 off customer appreciation day so my bill was discounted to $341 which was a great surprise, i didn't know about the promotion going in.
I love getting home to have my wife tell me that the steaks I bought are discoloured. I’m colour blind and couldn’t notice this when I went in. However this shouldn’t be on the shelf in the first place.
I live right beside this location and have been going here for over 3 years. Aside from one or two people, the staff is absolutely wonderful, but the management (I'm not sure if corporate management or in store management is to blame) is terrible. There's never usually long line ups, there's usually always tills open. The store is always clean. Prices are generally higher, like most Safeway's, but selection is usually pretty good. The produce is great, it's usually fresh, crispy and stocked. The meats aren't bad, although sometimes are a little lower on stock than I'd like and closer to their best before date than I'd normally buy, this is probably just a reflection of their lower sales volume. The deli is good. The bakery has a fair amount of room for improvement. When I go to the store, they are often out of cheese buns or French bread or garlic bread. Comparing them to the cheese buns I've at from many different Safeways for the last 25 years, the cheese buns are way too puffy and way too light on the cheese. I understand that cheese is expensive, but I'd rather pay $8 for cheese buns with adequate cheese than $5 for what are basically puffy hamburger buns with a sprinkle of cheese on them. Any pies, cookies or cinnamon buns I've tried over the years have been dry and disappointing. When I do manage to get my hands on French bread or garlic bread there has been too much garlic sauce sopped on it and it's been too hard and crusty on the outside. I largely stopped buying from the bakery there.
They started closing the west end door to traffic at 7pm last year (the manager says they did it to prevent theft). It's quite annoying to walk the extra 100ft in the cold and snowy winter weather and mildly annoying in the summer when I forget that they do this. After 7pm, I've seen a person walk out the east door without paying for an entire basket of food at least twice, so I would love to see the numbers on paper that prove closing that door has had any impact whatsoever on loss prevention. Since covid started they began closing at 10 pm instead of staying open until 11 like they used to. I've asked at least two staff members and they say they say no extra cleaning gets done within that timeframe, so I don't know why they've decided to annoy their customers and lose money to Walmart, who still stays open until 11pm. I don't doubt that the staff likes getting home earlier, but they've lost hundreds of dollars from me alone because of this.
TL;DR – Never too busy, staff is wonderful, management is terrible, prices are high, produce is great, meats are ok, bakery could be better, they close early
8yrs of going there, now downtown Oliver sq. Safeway They were very clean, organized. I liked it a lot. Staff was great. One rude old Asian guy, but everyone else amazing.
Started shopping here just recently, it's a great location with lots of parking during this covid19 issue Safeway here has done a great job with hand sanitizing and social distancing the only set back for me is the pricing, some good deals but not many staff always so very nice and friendly, just bring your prices down
The staff are friendly except for the old asian guy who never smile and never ask for air miles. He always rush and he is rude. One day i gave him my air miles & told him you guys accept this right? He just grab it from me & never say a word, did not even say have a good day or did you find everything you're looking for? Customer service should be explain to him in more detail because im sure he doesn't have any idea what customer service is all about.
Today I was shopping for toilet paper at your store. Considering the dwindling supplies in the city I was surprised to see that the price had not been increased, but in fact had been reduced. You could have increased the price. What a great thing to do!
Nice clean store and good products but very expensive. I used to shop here but it is too expensive for a average worker on a budget, after shopping at Superstore for a while I came into the store and looked at their prices and walked right out the door.
The store itself is clean and the staff are fabulous. My complaint is with the attitude of the manager in the Tim Horton's location inside this Safeway. She is very rude and tried to tell me that I could not buy more of an item than what SHE decided, so that other customers could have some. Now, can you imagine if Safeway did that? I can't recall her name (Jane?) but will update this once I do. I filed a complaint with the assistant manager, left my name and number and never heard back. I was also told that the staff in this type of Timmie's location actually work for Safeway and not Tim Horton's. Needless to say I will not be purchasing from this Tim's location anymore which is fine by me as there is a full service location across the road.
The produce at this Grange store is alway old and bad. We buy a few things at this location then go to save on foods for produce. Only Thing i like about this location is it is handy and close by.
It’s Safeway. I’ve never had a bad experience at this location, and the staff always seem willing to help. Only complaint is that sometimes they seem short staffed, especially in the mid to late evening, but I also know that’s when most retail and grocery locations have the least staff on.
Went in to grab a pre-made sandwich for lunch. Selection was lacking badly. Went to use one of the self check-outs and only two were working at the time so the wait was considerably longer to check out. Either make sure all your equipment works or have more than one cashier on shift then.
Very good Safeway. Good produce and deli. Bakery and meats are varied with good selections. Only issue is that if the store is open until 11: 00 pm, then don't close one of the main doors at 7: 00 pm. Rather ridiculous.
