Room is clean, people in front desk is very nice, but i cut my finger due to broken glass tv stand, I informed the person at the reception they told me they’re gonna tell the maintenance about it, but Steven was very helpful he was able to relay the concern at the management of the hotel.
The bed was nice and soft and comfortable. The sheets felt amazing. The only thing that made it 4 and not 5 stars was the amount of bright lights in the room and the fact that we couldn't get it cold enough in the room for when we slept. The light on the thermostat pretty much lit up the bedroom.
We stayed on the top floor. 2303 terrible room did not look like any of the pics for 2 queen beds. The bathroom was super tiny with a shower that did not work. I called down to front desk to see why shower wasn’t working and they said we will send someone right up, 5-10 mins well that never happened. We needed to leave by 9 am I made 3 attempts to get someone in and no one showed so I canceled the repairman. No tissues, no enough soap etc. We asked for an adjustment on the room rate since we weren’t able to shower. They offered food vouchers to us to accommodate for our inconvenience which had nothing to do with the room. We rejected that and got $50 off room. I’m sorry, no shower? Not acceptable
Room looks like it hasn't been updated in decades. I guess we got the none renovated room. Bathroom items were falling apart and broken. Carpet was dirty, outdated and loose. Little to no lighting in the room unless the curtains are wide open. For the price rooms are going for nowadays it's expected the quality should be equivalent. Also, there was a high rate of police presence during our visit. Not very comforting for a family of four with 2 children. Moxie's was probably the best part of our stay.
Nice shuttle driver, pleasant front desk staff although check in was pretty slow considering they had 3 agents for maybe 10-12 guests. Room was spacious and comfortable. Bathroom was nicely updated. Only complaint was old air-conditioned was very noisy.
The hotel is located in the north of Calgary directly at the airport. To get into the city you need a car, the nearest tram stop is a good 45 minutes away on foot. Alternatively you need a taxi. The hotel has a gym, pool and restaurant
First off, I’m a diamond level RSVP Rewards member (highest in sandman) so I know what to expect.
Lobby nice and inviting and staff pleasant enough. Room is a dinosaur, 1980’s thermostat broken and hanging off the wall (see pic). Cheap noisy a/c unit on the wall I had to plug in, room crazy hot. Baseboard heater broken (see pic) two burned out lights in the room (see pics and no the lamp is not a triple switch). Carpet has questionable looking stains. Shower grout needs a clean. Not a usb charger to be found which is unlike almost every other sandman’s that I’ve stayed in.
Not very impressed and won’t stay again next time I’m back in Calgary. Perhaps the signature next door is better? I didn’t have it as an option when I booked my reservation. I wish they would’ve told me I would’ve booked a signature.
Checked in at midnight. When I called to book the reservation, they told me there was an airport shuttle and just let them know when I get to check in. However, because I checked in at night, shuttle is fully booked and they do not offer an alternative. I would’ve literally booked somewhere else.
I have stayed here quite a few times for work. Rooms are clean and staff is helpful. I like that there is a Chop in the same parking lot and Moxies attached
I was booked into this hotel by wcb. It was paid for my wcb. I have a confirmation email And confirmation number for the room booking. I was asked for a deposit of $50 a night that would be refunded when I checked out.i checked my bank the following day after check out and the hotel had charged me for the room that wcb paid for.the hotel has been very un helpful I’m reversing the charges
Sandman Calgary Airport is dated, and has higher end with sandman Suites if that's your call. Location is kitty corner from terminal, and easy access to lots of amenities in the area. Smart value play!
Very disappointed in the maintaince of the room. The thermostat did not work and the room was extremely hot to the point we ran air conditioning that sounded like a jet plane in the middle of winter all night. Bathroom had missing tiles in the shower and a broken vanity. My husband stays at alot of hotels with his work and was the worst value for what you got. Felt like we were at a motel 6.
I've stayed here many times and it's always been good. Moxies attached is a plus. The hotel is starting to show its age. Rooms could use a refresh or a deep clean for sure.
I found my room to be noisy because it was close to the elevator and I hear the guest talking as they exited the elevator. Also, I could hear music until after midnight. I typically have a much better sleep when I can stay on the first floor or further from the elevator.
I have used this hotel a number of times and no issues but I have to say my resent stay was not good. On the 29th Dec we flew in to Calgary Airport and called for the shuttle bus to come get us, when it arrived the driver was rude and unhelpful, not once did he help with our bags, when we arrived at the hotel again no help and he didn't even open the door which states let the driver open the bus door. I went to check In and the gentleman that did that was unpleasant and grumpy. The next morning we were woken at 730 by the music blasting in the corridor. Needless to say this was a very disappointing stay.
Room was old but mostly fine. AC unit was completely useless. Did not cool down the room at all, it ran non stop, but was either too old or too small to keep up. For >$300 a night during stampede it would have been nice to be able to sleep, but the room was too hot.
Quiet hotel with fast, consistent service. Recommend trying a jacuzzi suite for a couple's night if you're looking for something a little less busy in Calgary.
Incredibly accommodating and kind staff. Our airline canceled our flight and we were left stranded in Calgary. Our stay here was truly a bright spot in our otherwise awful travels.
The room facilities, the onsite restaurant and the shuttle service were good. I chose the Sandman (when my flight was canceled) because the website advertised a business and fitness centre. There wasn't a business centre (although staff helpfully printed material for me at the front desk) and the fitness centre was limited. Altogether, the hotel amenities allowed me to get a lot done during my enforced downtime, but I found the website was misleading.
Very nice hotel the new wing is well done. I stayed at the hotel for 3 nights and the room was never cleaned. There was a notice in the room that if needed service I should call. This is crazy when the rates are so high and they provide a one star service. Maybe if they don’t want to provide service they should give a discount. When you pay so much money one expects his bed made and bathroom cleaned when you return in the evening. When I checked in there was no lotion, conditioner, shampoo or soap in the bathroom had to call the reception to get this stuff. Moxies was great ordered twice from service the food was excellent
Me and my husband stayed there for one night on 19 august 2022 and we were highly disappointed. Being near the airport, we expected the hotel to have atleast basic amenities as per their list. It was a hot day and AC was not working. Upon asking the management, they declined to change the room by saying that the hotel is fully booked and we can provide you a desk fan whereaswe booked the hotel 2 months ago. We were having an early morning flight and it was super uneasy. I am pretty sure thay had the rooms as the night auditor asked me to upgrade the room by paying $20 extra instead of giving us the compesation. I would recommend not to book the rooms with them as they do not care about the customers.
The hotel has lots of potential however falls short on almost every aspect. First off it is dirty and smells. Our room was not even close to being clean, see picture of the garbage that appeared to have puke on it. Elevator was broken. AC in room couldn't cool the room. Signs for which way to go was wrong which is 1st time ever that's happened. Sandman needs to have a look at this hotel. We won't be back as it's just not up to snuff.
Really great clean and reasonably priced hotel that is close to airport with a shuttle. I stayed here last minute when my flight was changed and I'm glad I did! Quiet and good location with super helpful and friendly staff.
Among all hotels that we've been to, it the worst that we've been to. Rented to executive bedroom and did regret booking there, the bedsheets and pillowcases were dirty, missing pillows when asked for more asked to wait and to be told that we should have called before coming downstairs when the line was constantly busy and in the end was told to sleep like that. The fire alarm went out and they didn't advise the clients to go out but was running everywhere. Asked for handicapped parking as vehicles without passes were on and we had one and even asked for a wheelchair they said they don't have any when prior to the booking we were informed we'd have one but none. Had a senior who needed a wheelchairs as he just got off the plane. In one of the room the bath tub was clogged. Arrogant staffs and too many furniture in the rooms no space to walk properly when you open the sofabed it makes it worst. Reason why I felt ashamed to take pictures as it's not worth it. Not recommended at all.
Our 2nd visit to the hotel. Wonderful amenities. Clean. Shuttle service is available and is fantastic. Bella was our driver. She's great. She works hard. Be sure to tip the lady. We will be back in 3 months to the hotel. Thank you for a great stay
Stayed one night only Hotel reception staff nice Plenty of parking space Free wifi/ Ice/ coffee for 2 …
oh but don’t forget to take ur own water bottle coz’ they don’t provide any
Room not much spacious Awful smell like very old basement building Bathtub not cleaned Hair on bed sheets Itchy blanket. (forget my jacket on closet but I called to hotel n they said they didn’t found any …!)
After checking out of the Sandman Hotel I saw a jackrabbit and was able to appreciate this creature for the first time. This was all thanks the night I had just had at the Sandman. Let me backup a bit.
After flying all day we had finally arrived to Calgary, it was 11pm local time. Soon I called the Sandman so the shuttle could come pick us up, it did, an hour and 20 minutes later. I checked in, a process that included two credit cards, a lot of confusion and questions that wouldn’t get answered. We finally get to our somber room that is decorated in the style of an out of date funeral home to find a soaking wet bathroom counter and floor.
The Sandman is not the hotel we want or need, but the hotel we deserve. Will you have to call for the shuttle multiple times? Probably. Will the room be up to par? Absolutely not. You’ve been sandman’d.
These little bits of humility remind you that you are a trash human who deserves nothing but the most average experience imaginable.
After one night at the Sandman it is clear to me that we are all just meat sacks moving around waiting it out until the end. And while all of our nights are limited, spending one at the Sandman will teach you the humility needed to appreciate the rest of those limited nights, and jackrabbits. Thank you Sandman. Five stars.
I would have gave 5 stars but the confusion the front desk has over the shuttle schedule to the airport doesn't make sense. Everytime I asked I got a different answer. Other than that great hospitality and clean rooms.
Not impressed, even with free update. From the exterior facade it looks new but the rooms are old. They have sc new signature guest rooms but those are not advertised on their site. Those rooms are newly renovated. No fault at the staff they were great but not worth the dollars. If you are booking call ahead and ask about the signature guest rooms.
The bathroom looked like it had mould in the shower & not very clean over all. The rest of the room seemed cleaner but we came in on a late flight, it was for one night & just needed sleep. No breakfast included. Wouldn’t bother staying here again. We needed a room on our last night of vacation for our return flight the next day & decided to go elsewhere. Not worth the cost.
Staff did not believe that my company already paid for my room. Despite showing receits/proof of purchase. They wanted me to pay myself for something already paid for.
We checked in after 2am Dec. 24 Brown gentleman who was "helping us" was terrible! Person like that shouldn't work in customer service, but somewhere in warehouse! Far from people!
We stayed on the signiture side and had a lovely and relaxing stay.very comfortable bed and super clean renovated room. Moxies is downstairs and made things way easy for us as a family. They provide shuttle service which is fantastic. Will stay here again
I love this location. Room service from moxies is excellent. There was a mix up with my shuttle that was scheduled to take me to the airport but they sorted it out and ordered me a taxi, they paid for it. It was handled very professionally.
Thermostat would not work so it was cold the entire night the room smelt bad and half of the lights in the room didn’t work, so in conclusion I would not recommend.
Hotel needs major upgrades. A lot of problems. If you do go to the Sandman Airport Calgary, ask for the Signature. It is the new part. Stay away from the older part.
The sandman signature is so beautiful, the large tubs after a long day was just the perfect touch. Staff is always so kind. We had an issue once and they immediately changed us rooms and upgraded us for the inconvenience.
We are originally booked this hotel for a night. At around midnight, I went to the front desk to ask if we could extend for another night and they agreed. Of course, I am confident that we can still stay for another day since they “agreed for 1 night extension”. However, in the morning, they insisted that we have to checkout at 11am. They’re confusing. In my part, they shouldn’t have agreed that time when I asked them for an extension so I’ll have more time to find another hotel.
Oh amazing in the hot tub from Thursday we got advice that maintenance will add heat on the tub but we came back monday tub heat is still thesame and there is 3 family said on sat. And sunday tub is thesame i go to front desk got advice on that night that they will fix it tuesday morning we go again in the tub still the same and the sad part is we get advice to leave the pool for maintenace, and be good observant because pool has a loose light, in 10 feet radius you can get electricity. If there is. Good job sandman hotel keep your guests happy and safe…
I stayed for 3 night just recently, nd i was very bad experience no cleaning, coffee machine is leaked, some time tv is not working, unclean nd old room, very cheap dim lighting, slow service, when we was go on reception to cleaning, even they said, in these days we are not doing everyday due to pandemic total waste of money
Worst stay ever. They cancelled my reservation 2 hrs before I showed up. Went to turn lights on in the room. Only 1 light worked, shower didn’t work. And then they charged me more then what I was told when I booked the room!
My review does not consider the cost of the rooms to stay here. The pillows are soft and poofy, the bed isn't super soft but as you lay in it you start to sink in and get all cozy. I like it. Not rock hard by any means. The shower is great. It's a walk in shower (no tub) with a ceiling waterfall kinda thing or a hand spray. Pressure is good from the above waterfall so I didn't even use both at the same time. I liked this place. I don't think they do breakfast buffet. Was kinda in a rush to leave since Calgary traffic sucks.
Roos are comfortable and clean. Food selection is Moxies and Chop House a short walk away but a little pricey if your a family. Staff is friendly and the pricing is fair. Shuttle service is available for airports and parking is a bit limited. Busy spot for its location to the airport but equally away from the hussle of downtown. If your driving getting around is easy and straight forward and theres plentyof malls and other food venues to choose from. I frequent the location and always enjoy my stay.
Our Kelowna senior slow pitch ball teams stayed at this hotel in July. Paula Jamieson, sales manager went out of her way to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. She looked after all the details and our team was most grateful for her help. We will stay here in the future. Thank You Paula. Staff were also very helpful.
Very nice, clean hotel. Staff was very helpful and knew what they were doing. Also airport shuttle arrived when they said it would and also left in the morning on time. Pool is nice as well as hot tub and fitness. Close to airport. Only reason it is a four star is it was a bit pricy @199+ tax and didn't include breakfast. Moxie's located in the hotel is extremely expensive and the place next door is as well. I suggest a taxi down the road to the mall or Eastside Mario's or other places in this area.
Plesant surprise. Very comfy bed, clean room and nice front desk people. Internet was terrible in our room and I found the thermostat a little difficult to understand, but all in all we enjoyed our night here very much!
If you are looking for a basic hotel, this is it. If you want luxury this is NOT where to go. Rooms are dated. The pool is old and small, was dirty and no room to put your towels, clothes. A big group of men were there when we were and they were changing into their underwear while wearing a towel right in front of us while we were in the pool. Loved seeing a grown mans family jewels while swimming. The change room was right behind him. We will not be back
Booked directly with the hotel and recieved a better price than anything online. Hotel lobby looks very nice with a dark-wood theme throughout. Room was clean and cool, again, visually very nice, decor was modern, bathroom was please. Mini-fridge and microwave in the king suite room for people staying longer or wanting to do some reheating without going out. Was not able to find a breakfast at the hotel, but the attached and nearby restaurants would do if you needed breakfast and didn't have a car. Nice and close to the airport for people with early flights.
Arrival at the hotel was fine. Upon entering the room, the room was nice. As we used the room, we quickly started to notice the poor quality of finishing of the room, which considering the newness of the hotel, was a bit of a let down. When I booked the hotel I looked at all the photos, they looked great. The pool especially looks lovely in a photo. We were so excited to go to the pool, and our 2 year old had been looking forward to it all day. First off as we enter the pool, the area is tiny. There are maybe 3 chairs for you to put your stuff on and that's it. There's nowhere to sit. There was no towels, so we had to walk back to the front desk to let them know. When we returned to the pool, we were informed by another guest who was getting out of the pool, to be careful because one of the steps on the ladder was broken. Also, the cleanliness of the pool was quite disappointing. The window between the gym and the pool was coated in rust all over the bottom sil. We it stayed at the pool for 5 minutes. After this we went to our room, which was a suite with a kitchen. While giving our baby a bath, I noticed some of the poor tile work in the tub. Around the tub faucet, the tile was cut poorly and you can see thru into the wall. Who knows how much water has gotten in there since it's lacking silicone.also there were tiles missing grout, very disappointing. To cap it all off, the heat/AC units in the rooms were weird.in the living area it had a wall mount thermostat, but in the bedroom you had to crouch on the floor to modify your settings, and even tho we set the unit really cool, it kept turning off in the night which left us with a warm room most of the night. All in all, we will not be staying at Sandman again.
Was told free parking if you stay the night and we ended up having to pay for parking. It was only 5 dollars a day but probably would have gotten a different hotel had we known. Rooms were nice and staff was friendly
Found the staff very helpful, rooms clean and tidy, beds comfortable. Decor a bit 80s but ticks all the boxes for our night stay at both ends of the holiday.
