We stayed here just before Christmas for an appointment, we checked in with Junard who upgraded our stay for the night to the king suit in the tower. This was the best experience, seriously couldn’t have gone any better, it was just what we needed. I was so nervous about this appointment and this kind service, staying in this little suite that felt like home made it so much better, we called down and asked to stay another night!
This hotel is beautiful and the service is beyond amazing! The security was great! We will definitely be staying here again and bringing the whole family. The pool has some really cool lights that our kids will love! Thank you for making our stay and trip 1000x’s better without even knowing it. Your kindness is greatly appreciated and went a long way! An unsettling specialist appointment turned into a nice little getaway for us alone away from the kiddos. We definitely have been trying to pass on your kindness since!

We had a wonderful stay last week.we were greeted with a smile upon check in by the front desk Meagan and the management Mena (Housekeeping Manager). She helped us with our room and was patient and professional. Our room was very clean and detailed. Our kids enjoyed the pool. Thank you DEEP V. (Director of operation) for the welcoming letter/gift. Thank you to all the staff and management for making our stay an enjoyable one.
Update: This is my second time coming here and I upgrade my ratings. What you have to understand about Sandman is that it’s not a luxury hotel. It’s an affordable place. The rooms are clean and nice and honestly the great staff here will do their best to make your experience better. It has all the basic things you can have (based on a 3 star hotel) and plus the staff are there if you need anything anytime.
Old: The hotel was ok, the good part of it was this nice lady at the front desk and the maintenance guy. They were nice and made the experience better.
Good location, friendly staff. The wall mounted heater was way too loud. The curtains didn't stop most of the light of the exterior building lights from entering the room. When I mentioned my displeasure at check out, the staff laughed and said "yeah we are having problems with the heaters". A warning beforehand would have be nice. The room was relatively quiet considering it's proximity to a main street.
Overall experience was great. Room was great, priced well for what it was. The only complaint I have is regarding the pool. There was entirely too much chemical in the pools, and as a result I have to replace 4 swimsuits because the chemicals ruined them. I had on a neon pink bikini that is now purple. The chlorine was so strong it hurt our eyes, and I could still smell it on us after 2 showers. Other than that the stay was amazing.
First off, staff was super friendly and we had no issues with them. The room we booked well over a month in advance wasn't available for us when we arrived. We booked 2 queens and gave them the time we would arrive ahead of time and yet were fairly certain they gave our room away as this is not the first time we've booked two beds only to arrive and not have them available. We were given an 'upgrade' to a king sized bed but it's not really an upgrade when we wanted two beds. We were allowed to switch rooms in the morning to two beds. There was also something spilled on the floor in the bathroom. Possibly soap or something as it was kind of clear but if you sat on the toilet you could see large splotches on the tile reflecting in the light. The new room was fine however upon checkout we found we were charged a bunch of fees we didn't know about and should have been stated when we booked the room or should have been included in the price and not thrown on top. One of the fees was a tourism fee and another was a fee that was 3 letters that started with a H. When we asked what the fee was the reception didn't know what it was and went to ask and the manager said to just remove it, which she did but still couldn't tell us what it was. Overall it was fustrating. These fees should be clearly stated how much they are on the confirmation before hitting ok. I feel like next time I'll book with airbnb again because they tell you the exact cost and breakdown of prices.
I never got to stay there, The woman at the front desk started making up new prices, then tried to start a fight with me. Accused me of swearing, then did not even repeat the right words, continued to argue, and I left asking for the manager to call me back. 5 years of staying there for full seasons destroyed by one Ignorant front end staff, and poor management decisions
Very greedy and un- helpful staff and management. My company pre paid my room for a month but they would not check me in without a.damage deposit of 250$ even after being paid 2700$. Absolutely the greediest bunch of people imaginable
Pros: The staff at the front desk were super helpful and friendly. The complimentary soaps were amazing as they are the first in a hotel that I have ever seen with the ingredients on the labels. I have a nut and almond allergy so that was fantastic.
Cons: we booked a King suite with extra room for our family. We also have a military discount, and a benefits plan that offers an upgraded room. When we arrived we were told the room was not available and they only had one room left in the hotel. The room was a downgrade and extremely tiny. I mean the king bed with two nightstands and no room to open a suitcase on the floor without having to step over to get the bathroom. The older part of the hotel has no elevator so you have to haul your luggage up 3 flights of stairs. We cancelled the last 2 nights of our trip there and moved to another hotel. We also paid a much higher rate because it was Easter weekend. The hotel did offer a 20% discount, however this was still more than their regular rate.
We have experienced a wonderful vacation because of the excellent customer service given us at this well situated location! The pool area was not very clean. We tried swimming three times, and there were no towels available. We stayed in the tower, which was lovely, but it’s not straightforward to get to the front desk, restaurant or pool from the tower (especially if a guest was in a wheelchair or had decreased mobility). Overall, the hotel was nice and very close to WestEd Mall. Hotel was quiet, and our suite was stocked with everything we needed! Staff were very friendly.
So far this is the worst sandman. The front desk guy had zero personality and not very polite. He has actually turned me off the sandman for the rest of my trip. He should be sent to the new sandman in Abbotsford to learn how to greet and make clients feel welcome.
Tetiana at the front desk was great. We had a suite in the tower. Staff was super helpful with requests. Great pool and hot tub for family. 2 minutes to WEM.
An absolute favourite hotel of mine after traveling across Canada. You have to stay here to fully understand. Professionalism from the front desk, housekeeping all the way to the connected Steak house staff. An absolute treat staying here, the design of the hotel with pool, lounge, gym facility in the center, with Tower suites connected via a bridge on 3rd floor is typically an after thought. Having Dennys and Chop steak house connected is super convenient. Alot to do within a short drive from parking lot. Very accessible and quiet. See ya again Sandman!
Maria checked us in and was amazing, service was great, was very knowledgeable and had knew her job well. Room was good, clean with all the amenities needed.
The gentleman at reception was the most helpful funny amazing character. He started our stay off making us feel welcome. Nothing was too much trouble and he answered all our questions before we even asked anything. The cost of the room was incredible low compared to other hotels. Room was clean and quite plus complementary bathroom supplies.
I check in at this hotel on February 23-2023, my room was not clean; hair all over the bedsheets, stain on the bedsheets and hair on the restroom floor. Front desk switch me to another room and the same issue again so ended up brushing my sheet off, didn’t have the energy to go and complain again, might be standard with this hotel.
We were in Edmonton in search for a grad dress, we have went to a few hotels already and just wanted to start looking for the perfect dress. Maria, our front desk attendant, was very accommodating and helpful. She got us a great rate on the two rooms we needed, and to top it off, we did find that perfect dress with her suggestions in less than two hours! Thank you again Maria for making our trip stress-free! Will definitely stay here again! Pool is a bonus with a very relaxing vibe in the evening:)
