Sandman Signature Calgary Downtown Hotel

I had a wonderful room here for the Calgary International Film Festival. Clean, good amenities, conveniently located for the festival. I forgot my laptop in the room and they helped me ship it back to the States.

Just stayed here for the night after our flight. Easy and quick drive to get there, they also had parking underneath which was perfect. Room was clean and a nice size. Would recommend!

An early check-in was possible, thank you for that. Everyone is very nice and friendly. Rooms are large and OK, but a bit outdated. Big old air conditioning that is more reminiscent of a power generator and doesn't really make you cold. There is coffee but no bottled water in the room.

In my 50 years of traveling, the Sandman Hotel Calgary will have to be the worst hotel that I have ever stayed in. My wife and I had booked a room with Queen or King size bed but were told that the room allocated to us has a double bed.and when we asked for a room that we requested for, we were told to pay more and have an upgrade. We refused to pay and insisted that we have a room we had requested for with a Queen or King size bed.   The receptionist said he will discuss the matter with his manager. Don't think that ever happened. Having lost that battle with the reception person we proceeded to the room, this room was meant for one person, with one dressing gown hanging in the wardrobe a half roll of toilet paper with no spare rolls. Likely there was a box of tissues that worked for us. I switched on the AirCon, it sounded like an old diesel tractor, loud and the noise unbearable. We informed the front desk and were told a technician will come up and have a look. The technician came and was unable to fix it, told us we should vacate the room for 2hours and leave the AirCon at the temperature we wanted and that should see us through the night. We did not do that and still the front desk still refused to change our room. That night my wife and I did not sleep a wink in a very hot room and the noise from the outside keep us awake all night and we had to leave for the airport early morning.
Shame on you Sandman, Calgary. Profits before customer's comforts. NOT a good business strategy.

And we were there on the 5th Sept.not Aug as stated.
The room was 801 or 811.

They don’t even provide water in the rooms and say they are trying to say the plastic and HAVE WENDING MACHINES IF WE NEED SOMETHING. This is for the first time we have had an experience this bad in any hotel whatsoever.

Fantastic accommodations! Nikhil was extremely helpful with everything and helped us out BIG TIME when we had car trouble.
