Absolutely the worst place to shop is save on foods. The name itself is the opposite of what the store is. Prices are ridiculous. The produce is the most expensive in the city and not eve close to good quality. The last time I was there they were selling green russet potatoes. Honey crisp apples were on sale for a grand total of 10 cents off at 4.69 a pound. Feel that 2 percent SAVINGS! Except the apples were pretty much all bruised. The self checkout machines aren’t self checkout either because they never work so you have to wait for the attendant if one is even around, and chances are you’re waiting for the to clear some garbage that’s happening on another machine too. Don’t give this store anymore money.
Bad experience on Sept 3. Folgers coffee on sale for $4.99. At check out price was $13.49, original price. Customer service rectified problem. Went back to store on Sept 5 to buy 3 pounds of Tenderflake lard. Shelf price was $5.79. At check out price was $6.29. Ridiculous price to start with but how many people are paying higher than already inflated prices and prices marked on shelves. Blatantly cheating customers. Went to Walmart and bought my lard for $3.47 per pound. We are not frequent shoppers of this store but I can guarantee you we will watch the prices on every item we buy if we shop there again.
Average grocery store with a good bakery and gourmet section. Aisles are wide and the shelves are well organized. Check-out is ok with self service if you wish. Very similar to the other grocery store chains as far as the experience and prices.
Was here at 830am on Wednesday June 29. Very understaffed. The poor cashier working the only till open, was also responsible for the self checkout, as well as customer service. For what Save On overcharges, you would think they would staff their store
Best place to get everything you need.almost all kind of groceries available. Very supportive staff. Well managed n maintained store. Graham the manager of the store personally takes care to provide best services to coustomer.
Great grocery store! If you are into gourmet foods, organic or anything in between, they have it. They have good varieties of food and other stuff. I shopped at Save-on-Foods upon getting into town. This large beautiful store had everything we needed. The store is clean and staff is friendly. Happen to interact with store manager Mr. Graham, he is was kind and supportive. I highly recommend visiting this store.
Graham (The manager) was very helpful and went above and beyond to help me find what I was looking for. Plus well managed store. Goes above traditional standards and beyond robotic responses to deliver personal customer support. H2H contact prompts loyalty like nothing else.
Weirdly enough they have a great selection of international food, on shelf, and frozen, also a good selection of healthy gluten-free, organic foods. The people there though are crazy, barely any if the customers understand how floor arrows work and love to invade your personal space.
I tried to buy some country style pork rib the same day it was advertised on the flyer. This old lady told me if I couldn't find it at the pork section, it is gone; they only prepared a few packs. I wonder why they even bother to put it on the flyer. She didn't bother to check with the butcher neither. Not Impressed.
We shop at this location. I want to express how much we appreciate the pharmacy and the team working there. Special thanks to Manju and Larry, for their dedication, expertise and care for the clients. Thank you
The assistant manager Graham is awesome! He has great sense of humor and he went extra mile to make sure I found the specific product I was looking for. He is AWESOME! Save on foods is lucky to have such kind people working with them.
1st time shopping at a Save on Foods, liked the quality of the produce, found a few good deals but.if wasn't till I got home and went through the receipt to find I paid horrendous prices for the items I thought I was getting a deal on.
I didn't know that there is a card in order to get the deals, Walmart doesn't have any cards, I have a wallet not a filing cabinet for all the savers cards
I had the worst experience here with a customer service representative. I believe his name is Gerick. He made me feel extremely uncomfortable during our interaction. He is rude and he is condescending. I will not come back here because management allows creeps like him to work there.
This is our new favorite store for our weekend grocery shopping. Its clean and well stocked and has a good flow for Covid precautions. During busy times there is an usher to get you to the next available checkout. There is a good selection of gluten free too. My only complaint about the chain as a whole is price. But its the same as Safeway, I suppose. Sadly, Dave doesn't work here. Lol
I like shopping here overall, although lately majority of the employees do not follow the direction arrows down each aisle. Yesterday 3 different employees were coming at me going the wrong direction so then I had to move for them. Employees seem to think they are exempt.
Always a nice shopping experience, until you get to the till. I will from now on drive out of my way to safeway down the road. Never a line up there and better prices!:)
Price set aside, this is perhaps one of the best Save-Ons in the city. Staff are friendly and helpful. Cashier management is much better compared to the other Save-Ons. If you have a critic about cashiers or number of tills, talk to Gerik (Front-End Supervisor). Super nice guy and genuinely tires to improve his department.
I saw stock guys (teenagers) not wearing masks inside. I guess it is not mandatory yet, however they are handling our food. As a courtesy, they ahould ne worn.
The bakery staff are super nice and they make a pretty good Black Forest sheet cake. You can call them for ordering advice and to place bigger orders in advance. The only thing I noticed is the latest iteration of their cake used maraschino cherries or super sweet cherries in the filling which made the cake unusually sweeter than in the past.
I usually visit the store to buy specific items that are on special or for a quick top-up shop. Their rewards program is so-so compared to others.
It was good to see that this store finally got its act together, well sort of together, regarding social distancing. However, when we went there yesterday, there were no cleaning materials available to wipe down the shopping cart, no concern about lack of distancing by folks in each isle, and no monitoring of the number of people in each isle. Most of the health food cooking items were unavailable and many shelves were still empty. Other stores seemed to be restocked almost completely, so it seems odd to see empty shelves here. Staff members seemed tired and unhappy, although they finally got sneeze guards at each till. We'll likely look elsewhere to shop until the pandemic is over.
They have always been unfriendly but today was the last straw/egg, milk. They have the best bakery and cheese selection around but today I found the help rude and very "I'm to busy to help". The cashier would not take my phone number for the discounts and stated that I should bring my receipt back and then tells me he ran out of tape.
I’ve always liked this Save-On. It’s got a different layout compared to other Save-On stores I’m used to but they’ve always had what I have wanted. On our most recent trip today, we had one of the assistant Managers greet us deep in the store, not at the front and we had one of the staff re-stocking shelves ask us if we needed help with anything. The cashiers have always been great.
Not happy with your “happy hour” change. Would always get kabobs on Tuesdays and wings on Wednesdays. Came in today and your staff at the fresh meat/seafood department didn't even know what the new happy hour specials were, they just knew that they changed. Not impressed. Other than that, every cashier I’ve dealt with have been great.
Please try to be polite with customer. If customer is taking couple of moments then please try to understand. It was my first and last visit on this location. I was so happy and wanted to buy a birthday cake for my family member. I entered around 9pm.still bakery associate was in rush. I wanted short “Birthday” tag on that but they didn’t offer anything. Please try to understand that if customer wants to buy something special then help them in a good manner. Worst experience!
Great and fresh selection for a fair price, but why is the french bread/baquette placed in an unsealed bag completely exposed to dust from all day foot traffic, that is odd to me.
