I came into this branch get a new bank card today around 4pm and the teller (I forgot his name) told me he couldn't give me a new card because my balance was in the negative, yet I called the customer service line twice after I got home to ask and make sure I had to have my balance at 0 to get my new card. Both of them were confused as well

Did not give us the welcome bonus after my wife and I followed the requirements for the 6 months. At 2 months they even checked and said we were doing them all correctly. Edit: after calling in (took 1 hour) we did get it. Only 4 stars because "Scene" rewards has dated branding. Cinema visitation is on the decline.

Went in to buy a roll of loonies. Got turned away due to not having a scotia card even though I have a Tangerine account and Scotiabank owns Tangerine. Oh well one less reason to ever bank with this company or branch

Went in to get a DD made. Provided the beneficiary name in written. They got it wrong, which I noticed that as soon as I left the bank. So I went back in, stood in the queue again for my turn and informed them about the mistake. The lady on the counter was apologetic and re-did the DD - WRONG AGAIN this time. However, this time I only noticed when I came home. So I had to go there again, stand in the queue for 25 mins and cancel the DD. The incompetency of that lady is appalling.

I used to bank with Scotia a few years ago and decided to switch back because I was fed up with my now old bank. I was able to sign up online and was approved for a debit visa card. I went to this location and the lady behind the desk refused to activate my card and when I tried to ask for it back she cut up the card right in front of me.

We had a really bad experience with an account manager called Pooja. Our joint account was refused, because my wife was not mentioned in the rental lease. So far so good. Makes sense. When I lost my card I was asked with whom I have a joint account (as a security question) and said truly "No one". Then the process of getting a new card was stopped since my answer was wrong according to the telephone officer. This is the way I found out we had a joint account (althought this was denied and we only have one debit card). Very funny! What is the use of a joint account, if there is only one card (with my name on it) and we do not get another card after asking? It doesn't make sense at all. Moreover, even security is poor if using this fraudulent methods to identify people. I have changed my bank account. We have a joint account now (with 2 debit and 2 credit cards) and the legal marriage certificate was enough to prove it. Really silly. According to Scotia Rules you can even have a joint account with a friend or room mate. Good Luck with that at Scotia Unity Square!

Awful branch hours & service. Closes early AND locks access doors to ABMs. (This seems like it is done in response to less fortunate & homeless people seeking shelter & loitering. What a great solution! *sarcasm* Punish the customers of the bank!)
The location closes before most of the world is done work and on weekends. This doesn't make any sense other than cut-backs.
Dear Scotiabank, GET THIS LOCATION UP TO CURRENT BETTER STANDARDS PLEASE.

Worst service worst manager today is last day for me in this, I already removed my account from this bank now my girlfriend will also because of there behavior I don't know the name but it was a guy who sit in the first room from front entrance side, he was not even the teller just intrupting for no reason go learn some manners, we are very happy with RBC please people go to RBC

Service levels are unnaceptably low for a central location. No drive thru atm or acess to the inside ones on Sunday or Bank holidays is ridiculous and extremely hostile to pedestrian clients. I am going to have to close my account as a result of this.

This branch stays closed during the entire duration of the Christmas holiday without posting or updating their hours of operation either online or on the door to the business.

You cannot access their ABM's either at 3: 30 PM on Tuesday, December the 28th.

Have had terrible, judgey experiences with the advisors at this branch. Now, apparently there are hours for the ABM. And CLOSED on Sunday.
How exactly are the working class supposed to access their money when you’re closed the only day we have off?
Time to pull our money and head to a bank cares about its clients, I guess.

Was told TWICE by 2 seperate people that if I brought 3 cheques in they will take the hold off my account. It was extremely difficult to get into the branch because they're only open during most peoples working hours, and Saturday appointments are completely booked up. I had to take time off work just to take in my cheques. When I took in the cheques they told me that they actually CANT take the hold off if it done online, even though i was told multiple times that was fine (and I emphasized online because I can't get into the bank). A complete joke.

To give 1 star is extremely generous, they fruaded my account, shut it down all with no phone call or nothing, stole the money out of my fiances account that is completely separate and refuses to fix their problem * DO NOT USE THIS BRANCH * if you value your time and money do not step through the front doors

I've been to this location several occasions. The staff always acknowledges you when you arrive and there's lots of parking available. I've dealt with Olga a few times; she is professional, friendly and always pleasant to deal with.

Their website hours indicate they are open on Saturdays until 3: 00 p.m, this is clearly not the case as I went to the bank this past Saturday and it was closed. I feel some of their Tellers should also improve on their "customer service" skills.

I called customer service yesterday to get a letter and they told me that i have to go to a branch in order to get it. I went to this branch today to get a letter that i needed. No where online it says that they are only available by appointment. Online it only displays store timings. I went to this branch and there was a financial advisor working. I asked her if she can help me with this letter and she tells me being a financial advisor that she cannot have access to what i need and only a teller can help me. Since they have no teller working i just dont get it that no where online it says there wont be a teller to assist you and how come a financial advisor cant help with something a teller can that is just beyond my understanding.

Terrible customer service. My card was compromised and someone tried to deposit cheques into my account. My wallet was stolen. It was fraudulent activity so my account was frozen. I called immediately to deactivate my card and talked to a very polite lady who said give it a couple of day and go to your branch and they can issue you a new card. Well, I was treated like I was the criminal. I have no clue who the person was that did this and they wouldn't even let me explain what happened. They just said that my account was closed and gave me nasty looks. I will never go to that branch ever again. I left in tears. Terrible customer service. It doesn't even deserve 1 star in my opinion. A very negative experience.

Our new small business advisor, Hang Feng, is exceptional! I attended at the Oliver Square branch without an appointment, hoping to be able to deal with an urgent banking request. After a short wait, Hang made time to see me and immediately dealt with my request despite being exceptionally busy. The staff is always friendly and helpful, and willing to go the extra mile - highly recommended!

Very poor customer service, they will tell you to contact customer service and yet you are in their branch and are quick to use the "angry black man" excuse to refuse you service.

Please if you don’t have to go to this bank don’t go there it’s unbearable they’re very disruptive for helping you and it’s really annoying they really don’t help some of them are extremely rude and The tellers are extremely rude and so is the supervisor behind you it’s so incredible that these people are very articulate and obtuse oh well there’s always other banks I can deal with their loss

I have spent quite a bit of time bouncing around from different advisors since I have had some very bad experiences in the past. However over the past year I have visited the Oliver square branch for most of my banking needs & have always received great customer service. The staff here is attentive & friendly. I am always served in a short amount of time. As good as a bank can be!

Worst experience you could get from a bank. Spent close to 3 hours in two separate appointments, only accomplishment is to open a chequeing account; wasn’t able to order cheque book, apply credit card and set up overdraft protection, nor safety box after 3 hours wasted, as the senior advisor was very keen about things that seems irrelevant to me. During the appointment, I was sitting there with my laptop busy providing bank statement, employment letters and all those documents that ended up she didn’t need after all, and none of the purpose of appointment was achieved. It’s a true lecture of bureaucracy in corporate.

The senior advisor also acted as a detective at the end of second appointment wondering what’s the purpose of banking with them since I have TD, what a great questions after I clearly stated in the first appointment that I’m interested in the no foreign transaction fees credit card and the welcome bonus to open account. Now I really wonder why I wanted to approach Scotiabank at the first place if I had to go through all those dreading experience.

This branch has been amazing. It's the people here, who have gone above and beyond for me consistently, that make the difference. From always friendly and professional service, to opening additional tellers when it gets busy, to helping me with ideas to reduce my fees, and even intervening on our behalf to secure an advantageous mortgage, the people here have been nothing short of fantastic. Have worked with the staff here from the Tellers to the Branch Manager, and they all always give me the sense that they're invested in my financial well being.

Numerous incompetent managers make banking at this branch a painful experience. Sometimes you have to put people in a position based upon their qualifications rather than forcing diversity as a strength. They ripped me off for a few thousand dollars on several products and made no effort to take any responsibility. There is no effort to try and fake professionalism or pride in their work here. Just a bunch of corrupt penny pinchers.

I made an appointment with Winnie Causing about options with my credit card. She was very understanding, takes time to listen to my concern and I never new Scotiabank does restructuring credit which is really helpful. I would come back here regardless if its not my home branch.

Walked over here at 630am only to find the ATMs behind a locked door. I have used the ATM here many times after banking hours, why is it locked now? !

Worse, a search for an open ATM on their website was unhelpful, they don’t list the hours, capabilities or any helpful information when I do a “Branch and ATM search”. Feeling disappointed. I found a nearby ATM on the map, walked over there, and while it was open, it did not accept deposits.

From the start was disappointing. Poor customer service and lack of product knowledge.
(Sorry if this appears long-winded.)
Signed up online just fine and easy for a new account. Was advised after filling out the online form to go to the local branch to show ID to finish setup.
So I went to the branch: No, I need an appointment. So, I set up an appointment for the next day. Teller asked me if I wanted Morning or Afternoon; I said morning is best. She said 10? I said yes. A few min later she gave me my appointment for 3 PM.

I left messages that I had a Power of Attorney and would like to add my wife to the account also however she is out of the country for a while.
So I show up today (Wed July 31 2019) and go in - the guy asks me "How can I help you? " Then a min later he reads his notes and says I see you want to finish setting up an account. Then he also reads the note about adding my wife when she's not here. I don' think he was prepared for the meeting.
Without even looking at the documents I had he said we can't do that. (Then a few min later stated he would have to check with his "Back-Office" to see if it's possible.)
I wanted to add my wife because she is over 60 - A senior in ScotiaBanks eyes and checking fees are waived for their basic account.
He stated "We don't have accounts with no fees". After I stated I seen it on line he said give him a few min to confirm that".
A few min later I stated that perhaps ScotiaBank is not for me. He wanted me to wait a few seconds while he confirmed the fees.
He asked me if I had an account with another financial institution. I said yes, RBC. Appeared to be a little blunt when he asked "So why do you want to set up an account here? "
All in All - the gentleman was short, blunt, rude, and presumed to know answers to my questions without checking, or really knowing.
I left his office stating that it doesn't appear ScotiaBank is for us.
Unfortunately, at least that Branch.

I just went to RBC and printed my bank statement it took two seconds and I came to Scotiabank to get my bank statement printed and they told me I had to pay $5 per page or doing online that's the stupidest thing I have ever heard. I literally just went to the next bank and got it printed for free and it took to second either they're too lazy to do their job or Scotiabank has a stupid system either way I'm not satisfied whatsoever

Careless staff and poor customer service. We were suppose to get approx. 12000 scene points after setting up 1 pre-auth bill payment on new Credit Card. But Bank associate who attended us failed to send documents to HQ's on time. On demanding rectification for the situation, we got a reply saying system does not allow it because offer has expired now.

I use to bank for my bussiness at the location downtown on Jasper. Never had a complaint or concern. Since they have moved to the Oliver location it has seriously gone downhill. I bank everyday with them. There fax has been not working all week, I'm constantly told that I have to wait at least 25 mins for them to fill my cash order, when they do fill they don't have the cash to fullfill it. It is overly frusterating. I've been told to try another branch, I should not have too. The kinks need to be fixed!

For anyone that goes there after there banking hours and tries to use the atm but the doors are locked try the doors at the back of the bank not the ones at the front that’s on jasper ave the back doors are open 24/7 it even says it on the front doors that the back doors are open for after banking hours.

Visited there to withdraw money from the atm but the doors were locked and I couldn’t withdraw money and I didn’t like it. They should look about it.
