Lots of people were on their phone during the movie which ruined my focus a few times. There was a kid playing a video game with the sound on (low). I didn’t see anyone that works there check the theatre during the whole 3 1/2 hour movie. I don’t think I’ll be back here.
Witnessed some arrogant patrons (cauca***ns) who would harass minorities. My friends/families also witnesses this on many occasions. Avoid this location if you can.
People need to remember that the movie theater isn't your living room. I've been to 3 movies here the past two months and all 3 times my experience has been ruined by other movie goers.
The theater and movies are fine. They dont enforce social distancing or mask wearing. I watched the new matrix movie and everybody in the theater had their mask off with exception to only a couple people such as myself. It was disgusting. I don't advise tring out theaters any time soon.
I don’t think the theatre has been updated since it opened. Aesthetically, it feels like you’ve travelled back in time to the 90s. Weird angles and colours, the place looks like the set of the original Saved by the Bell. Obviously there’s little value for your dollar. Popcorn costs them $0.06 but they charge $14.00 for it and still can’t find a few bucks to freshen the place up.
The sears have been updated but they’re terrible. I took my four year old to see the newest Disney feature but as an average sized kid she isn’t heavy enough to keep the seat down unless she sits on the uncomfortable (not metaphorical) edge of the seat. I on the other hand am an average sized adult but weigh too much to sit back without the seat going into full recline mode.
This is likely the worst theatre I’ve been in, it’s almost as though they know it will draw a crowd because it’s in the country’s largest shopping mall so they do as little as they can to keep the place looking nice.
Also, I know plastic straws are bad for turtles and the planet but paper straws don’t last very long so I only got to enjoy a few sips of my $9 coke before the straw fell apart and tainted the flavour. All-in-all a pretty dreadful experience that offers credibility to the theory that online streaming will soon make theatres a thing of the past. What a shame.
A) bring back the dragon. It was a staple for this place for years and with the amount of money they charge for drinks and popcorn to not have it is just criminal B) whomever designed the washrooms for the iMax theatre and theatres 1 & 2 needs to be dragged into them and look at the stupidity of the designs. Seriously 800 ppl coming out of those theatres and the bathrooms fit 2-3 ppl tops. The fact they haven’t fixed this problem in 20 years is insane.
Un gros zero pour le manager du cinema au west Edmonton mall qui ma dit (you better settle down your kid or i will kick you out and my son was doing nothing wrong in kid’s movie.was talking to me regarding the movie.the way he told me that, was really rude.no respect.shame on you old man.you made one kid sad tonight.it should said no kid under 6 allowed to watch ghostbuster prior to sale ticket.hope karma gonna get you someday
Came here the other night, accidentally bought some extra tickets for my buddies by mistake and I wanted a refund but this one loudmouth snappy female manager outright refused to refund me. Told me I have to call guest services because "the higher ups don't like us giving out passes since they are worth less than the costco coupons. "
It wasn't until I kindly requested a different manager that I was compensated with a courtesy pass but once he went away she responded unnecessarily by saying "This is a one time thing. We're not gonna do it for you next time. "
I found her to be very short tempered and wasn't very receptive to my concerns. I think her name was mikela?
But anyway yeah this is a first for me. I have never in my life been treated this way by a manager at any other theater. I am highly discouraged to come back to this location. Not worth the headache.: (
First time with the 4d experience and nothing happened only found out after the movie you have to complain during the movie to get a refund. Rather watch a movie at home and not have a chance of catching covid.
There’s a giant stain in the centre of the screen that looks like someone threw a soda at it and they weren’t able to clean it entirely. Why can’t we have nice things.
Nice theatre, kept clean and well maintained. Lots of amenities, a full arcade, lots of different snacks. Staff are always polite and helpful. Comfortable seats. Parking can be tricky, there's lots but you either have to be tenacious or walk a distance.
Clean theatre, okayish typical over-priced food and small candy selection. Seats are way too close together but the fact that it's inside the mall is convenient. My real grievance is that yesterday at about 1: 40pm I took a break from my customer service job inside of the mall and stopped by the line at the entrance to ask when they will sell spiderman tickets. I told the man I just had a question, and asked while I was pulling out my vaccine information in case I needed it but accidentally produced the old laminated card without the QR code first, which made the employee say "whenever they tell us to" and then lecture me about the QR code requirement which I already know. It was really unhelpful because if he'd just waited a moment I would have gotten the QR out if he needed it first. If you don't know, politely inform the customer that you just don't know, attempt to to find out from someone higher up or else give more of an explanation. At the very least, tell me to ask someone inside if you don't have time to help. He was not a bored teen employee with an attitude either, but a man who seemed to be about sixty wearing a sport shirt. Got the impression he is high enough up in the chain of command to know better than to be so dismissive of a customer. Negative interaction and waste of time left a bad taste in my mouth.
Went to the movies with my partner and kids. Had a great time. The only thing I wished to be different were the sits. Super uncomfortable and swings back to much. I was hoping they had sits like at Landmark. The child behind my partner kept kicking his sit which pretty annoying for him but if they would have the same sits like at Landmark it would stop this. Otherwise it was a great family night.
Crowded entry.only mall access.scan vaccine card at entry.have to use self serve ticket purchase.purchased a mini combo which comes with a topper and had to remind the server about my topper
The staff was super helpful, understanding and friendly today. I was having issues with the 1-800 number but today Jeff was able to look into my issue and resolve it rather quickly. Also thankful that the staff are doing everything they can to keep us safe. Thanks a bunch y'all.
It's a great place, been there loads of times prepandemic.but their website neglects to say that you have to wait 14 days after your second dose to enter. Don't be like me and waste 4 tickets. So, even if you're fully vaccinated, you have to wait 14 days after to be able to enter. Hopefully they add this to their website to avoid date night tragedies like this.
Theatre 7 has a blotch in the screen right dead centre. Very annoying, because once you see it, you can't unsee it. It looks like someone threw a cup of pop at the screen, and all the pop dribbles down. This really needs to be fixed!
They did the best they could during covid. Although the theater is relatively unchanged from when it opened years ago and it's starting to show its age. They were good at checking for vaccine passports, keeping things clean, and getting the viewers through the gates quickly.
All around a good time, clean place and friendly staff. Popcorn was good and butter even better! We got our tickets online so was easy to just grab snacks (great combo choices for snacks) and scan to go in with the kids. Only down side and why I don't have the full 5 stars is that if your going with a child lighter than 80lbs be prepared to be holding the front of the seat the whole movie for them as they will be folded up as a taco into the seat. My leg and arm got soar from holding the two children's seats I took (using just regular general admission seats). All in all for prices wasn't to bad, your basic ciniplex / big theater prices. Great way to spend the day or end it after a long day of shopping!
Going to the movies have gotten expensive; Adult and Two kids 3 popcorn, 3 pop, and 3 candy $115.00. The 4D was an experience above and beyond the rest.
It's a great quality theater but quite pricy. You have pretty much any of the viewing options you could reasonably expect plus a few "unreasonable" ones. I think they call it a 4D viewing experience? I call it a rumble chair. I enjoyed it the one time I tried it but I wouldn't pay so much. You can enjoy IMAX, 3D and private viewings. There are different fidelity theaters if I recall correctly and they keep pretty high quality. I would say that Scotiabank has one of the less messy theaters. It's not spotless, but compared to cheap theaters I tend to be able to afford, it's a nice treat. I can't afford the last star because they never did fix the mama dragon.
There used to be a big red dragon that would breathe real fire at regular intervals in the middle of the lobby. She has little baby dragons towards the back of the theater that are now orphans. I was terrified of her as a kid but in the best way. I owe my childhood adoration of dragons and by extension probably my career as an artist to her. Rest in peace, girlboss.
I bought tickets to see the 4DX show, during the movie red laser light was coming in and out on the screen and twice the movie froze and screen blackout. I asked for my refund and they gave me a free pass instead. I won't be going back to that theater again. I personally prefer the regular DBox where you can have more control over your seat vibration.
Digging the new leather recliners in there, spacious seating, clean and four extra butter you don't gotta pay ayy the till, where the napkins and straws are there's topping Haha best theater I've been to by far!
Seats obviously were not disinfected, J9 was dirty. Good thing I brought wipes and gloves. IMAX, NO aircon when we get in at 8pm for 8: 15pm F9 movie. 8: 12pm now still no AC.
It's was amazing to be back in the theatre again to see movies the only thing I didn't like was the cleanliness cause my feet stuck to the floor while walk to the seats and while seating
Great staff and movie was great. The teens ruined the movie for us talking and kicking seats all movie and I was about to Karen them and beat them up but my gf told me not too.
We booked our tickets online because of the capacity is lower than usual do to COVID-19. And when we got to the theatre the employee was rude never even said hi just waved his figures for us to go forward and said movie is first on your left. When we went to our seats that we paid for people sat right beside us no social distancing and the theatre was clearly over capacity. Wasn’t even able to take off my mask to enjoy my popcorn. Not impressed at all. Clearly they care about money more than customers health
Been there June 2021. Good customer service at the food area but a little bit slow. Definitely they need more personnel to handle the peak hours. Not sure if seats were disinfected but proper distance was kept. Overall good experience, it is our favorite movie theatre.
I take my daughter here to play the arcade games, this one game was ripping my daughter off so I asked for the manager, the manager came over and I told her what had happened, I even took a picture with my phone showing that she had won, the manager then proceeded to tell me word for word "can you tell me in English" that's when I realized she wasn't going to help me, I'm a black male age 25 Canadian born English is the only language I know, I told her to leave me alone after that remark, I spent $50 just to play games with my daughter I'm never coming back here
Still can't get reserved seats when booking on line. The seats are ripped and uncomfortable, and impossible for toddlers to sit in because the bottom portion Springs up. Should spend less money on statues in the front, and upgrade the seats. Landmark cinema is way better.
Overall good experience. Nothing that really stands out and makes me go wow. Place was clean and staff were friendly enough. Trainee running the concession made some mistakes but she was cute about it and apologetic so no harm there.
Theater's just need to do more to wow the customer and make the experience a little personal and better. Maybe this would bring some more repeated business and build some organic growth for the company and location.
I have been coming to this theatre for years and have never really had any issues. However today in auditorium 1 the AVX Dolby theatre, my husband and I were sitting in seats K31-K32 and three quarters thru Aquaman I heard a strange sound on the wall behind my seat. I turned my head and saw a rodent scurry down to the floor! I was completely freaked out and shocked! I tried to convince myself maybe it was nothing. Then about 10 minutes later I heard more sounds and saw the rodent run up the wall and continue to run along the panneling until it dropped down to the floor again a few aisles ahead of ours. I have never been more grossed out!
Pretty much what you would expect a movie theatre to be.including the massively over-priced food. My only real complaint - the chairs, although they are soft and they recline, are very uncomfortable. Something about the design causes your backside to go numb in about 30 mins. My wife and myself both noticed this. We both have average bodily dimensions, so I doubt it's us.
Positive: They often show movies that are not playing anywhere else. This is the only reason I go here.
Negatives: - Seats are uncomfortable. The seat itself reclines with the back. - Way too many ads before the movie starts. - Popcorn sucks. At other cinemas I can eat it without butter and it tastes good. Here it felt like it needed butter (though I read another review that said the butter tasted awful, too). - Lines at concession are all separated so theyre inefficient and have you guessing which line to choose. - Decor looks like its from the nineties - They constantly push their scotia card with advertising - Expensive tickets
Other than sitting by myself like I'm freaking Steven Glansberg; it was good. Stupid people don't show up and let me watch a movie by myself. Jerk potatoes. But very friendly staff. Just the right amount of " I'll mind my own business" mixed with "I'll interact if you initiate".
Ok here's some things 1. The seat were uncomfortable it keeps going up. 2. The popcorn with the butter tasted awful no offence. 3. And their was to much adda before the movie started! I get people are still coming in but eh. Positive 1. Normal popcorn is the best! 2.nice service 3.food 9/10
The premium theatre with IMax in West Ed attached to the mall. You pay about three hundred thousand dollars for snacks and tickets, but with the Scene Card app it's par for the course date night.
Can you go wrong with dinner, drinks and a movie at West Ed? Any trip bringing the gf shopping at West Ed equals Edmonton for romance.
Great place to go see a movie! We have Scotiabank cards so we're always earning free movies! This is out closest Cineplex and the best place to go, the concession lines move quickly and we usually order our tickets online or at the kiosk so we don't have to wait in line for those. We've seen many movies here and have never had a negative experience. Love the Imax theater!
I had a very pleasant experience. Customer service was great. I purchased popcorn with butter and it tasted terrible. When I went to return it, the cashier was very nice and gave me another one without butter, without hesitation. Theatre was also nice, clean and comfortable
One of the best cineplex movie theater in Edmonton. We like the decoration and flame throwing dragon. Conveniently located in the mall. The concession lines can be slower during a popular time. Always had a positive experience.
