Calgary, a cosmopolitan Alberta city with numerous skyscrapers, owes its rapid growth to its status as the centre of Canada’s oil industry. However, it’s still steeped in the western culture that earned it the nickname “Cowtown, ” evident in the Calgary Stampede, its massive July rodeo and festival that grew out of the farming exhibitions once present. However, the weather today is minus thirty two degree celcius, the worst it has been for a while (before windchill)

This is still best place for photos of downtown

Great perspective of Calgary's skyline! There isn't a designated parking area because it's in a community. There are several seats as well, which offers a peaceful vantage point to observe and gaze at the City of Calgary!

This popular vantage point, merely a couple hundred steps from the Skyline View Point on the same road, is smaller but safer and better of the two downtown view points.

This grassy area on the 6 street at the intersection of Ramsay Street is better than the other skyline view point since it has a well-made wooden observation deck with a few attractive looking metal benches to enjoy the alluring views of Scotiabank Saddledome, Calgary Tower, skyscrapers, and Bow River from a different angle.

It is safer because of the metal palisade at the brink of the hill from where anyone may fall down and meet with a tragic end.
This feature is imperative in this era of selfie-crazy people. There have been lots of fatal casualties happening everywhere in the world because of this selfie-mania where people risk their lives in order to get better pictures of themselves with prepossessing backdrops.

Both the view points on the same street, 100 paces apart, are created to give the splendid city skyline views to their visitors, so there are no picnic tables or children playgrounds; however, visitors may enjoy a couple of children play areas - Bell Avenue Park and Ramsay Park - with latest equipment in the proximity of the vantage points, enjoy at the stampede park at the foothill.

You may read my review of the other vantage point - The Skyline View Point - and see photos of downtown from a different angle.

Surely a serene place to view Calgary downtown from the hills. Clean but lots of mosquitoes.
However my family likes this spot for hanging out with friends and watching sunsets.

This is one of the most beautiful and peaceful places to enjoy a sunrise or sunset. You get full view of downtown and amazing views. This is also one of the best places to see fireworks. The place doesn't get crowded with people, so get to enjoy a
In peace. Lovely location even if you are just visiting Calgary.

This is a great place to view Calagary downtown skyline. There are street parking available. You can view saddle dome stadium. Also there are couple of benches where you can sit and enjoy city view.

Great spot to go look at the cityscape, especially at night. Never overly crowded, unless there's fireworks downtown

It's not a bad place to go to, as long as you have a car to get there. Great place to watch the fireworks for stampede if your into that kind of thing. But other then that there's not much else you can do. Most people go there and stay in their car then drive off to where ever people go these days. As for walking, there isn't much to walk to really.

As an off season destination the area has things to offer. We took in the sights and swore we could still heard the cheering crowds of the Stamped.

This is the spot to be at if you wanna see the skyline of Calgary as it’s very easy to access with ample parking space! As a tourist, this was a must visit for us and we loved walking around the area during day time and at night. I think it’s a perfect spot to have picnics during summer. You can take the stairs to go down the hill as well. We weren’t able to catch any sunset as it was very cloudy on the day we visited but I can imagine that sunset would be spectacular from this lookout ️

Beautiful area to see Calgary city from the top. Easy access also. Good place to sit on the bench and relax while seeing the scenery. The most seen attraction if you visit Calgary.

Scotman’s hill is located at the Ramsey community, east of Elbow River. A must visit and best lookout place in Calgary. Absolutely STUNNING view.

Best spot to watch the fireworks during stampede hands down. Plus really just a great spot to check out the city. Best view point of the saddledome and you can even see the (small) Calgary tower in the shot!

Def a good spot to check out if you are new to Calgary or have lived there forever.

Loved seeing the fire works shoot off from here! One of the best places to see them and see them shot off from!

Nice views of the city and saddledome. Due to parking restrictions need to park a bit further and walk to the park.

So happy to see different Tipis from the members of Canada's First Nation and getting and seeing a glimpse of their wonderful arts, craftsmanship and culture. I am honored to stand beside one of the members of the First Nations and seeing closely how beautiful her native dress is. It is so intricate and colorful.

Best place in city to watch stampede fireworks.
The hill is situated just south of stampede park and offers the best view of fireworks during stampede.
Apart from this, this has "off-leash" area for dogs and the views are amazing.
Surrounded by many breweries, this is really good option for exercise & walk for any day.
Even the neighbourhood is also very nice which makes this place unique.

If you are looking for a picture perfect spot to view the downtown Calgary's skyline, this is it!

Had a really great time with friend's. We had a picnic, and watch Calgary Stampede fireworks. It was a gorgeous view of Victoria Park, and Stampede Grounds.

A great place to get pictures of downtown. At this location, you can get some very iconic looks and shots of downtown Calgary (just see the photos)! Good amount of street parking available (granted you're only here for pictures), and a good amount of open area for you to walk around in!
28 November 2019 3:16
Great spot for viewing Calgary's downtown core, with great angles of the Bow, Calgary Tower, and the Saddledome in the foreground.
27 November 2019 2:51
When doing a driving tour of Calagary, this is the spot to go to. You can view the beautiful skyline of Calgary. Even if you are just passing through as we were. Make it a point to take a picture of the city from here. It is not difficult to find and I am sure any local will know where it is. We took some great pictures here.
01 November 2019 7:35
Best view of the downtown skyline, day or night. Not well lit at night but still felt safe. Lots of street parking available both times we went.
30 October 2019 1:34
This place offers a great view of the Calgary skyline and the Saddledome. The park looks like a nice play to relax but there is no legal place to park your car around here as it is a residential area unless you park further away and walk. Anyway the view is picturesque and its windy. Definitely worth stopping to enjoy the view even if it is for short while.
11 October 2019 22:48
One of the best place you can see Calgary's skyscrapers!:)
I was there a but early but if you go there after sunset, you would see a great night down town view!
Highly recommend for couples, family and a dog owners! (It's off leash zone)

Awesome place to practice up on some photography and test out a new camera.great views of Calgary and the stampede grounds.
01 October 2019 1:45
Not much parking during Stampede but it is a wonderful place to go and sit. I remember going there as a kid and sitting on the hill with my mother. God rest her soul. There's also a covered ice rink where I remember my dad taking me to learn to skate.
17 August 2019 9:05
The picture you'll most likely see of postcards of Calgary. It's from this spot. There's street parking so I you can take your pictures. There's an off leash area for your pooch too.
07 August 2019 11:10
Views include the downtown skyline and the mountains to the west all in one. Maybe the best view of Calgary in the entire city.
