Second Cup Café

Great place as far as feel goes - feels relaxed and very homely. I prefer it that way to many other big chain coffee shops. Good service. Good coffee.
My biggest and only concern is that a key is needed to use the bathroom. It is quite disgusting to have to handle a key that many have touched and not washed their hands after using the bathroom.
I understand why a key is used to get into the bathrooms, I respect that. But it is far from being ideal to have a key used to get into the bathrooms. After I wash my hands, I do not want to handle a key and bring it back to the counter. Also, I do not want the barista's to handle that key giving it to me and other patrons - that is in some ways even more disgusting. Because how could they possibly wash their hands after each and every time they handle the key before getting back to work handling food, coffee and washing dishes? A manager or owner should not expect that either, even though they should be doing that. This is not fair to the workers here.
For the most part after awhile the baristas were not just handing us the key but were walking over to the bathroom with the key to open the doors for patrons to use bathroom.
I have chosen to go to other places many times because of this scenario. I didn't come here for a very long time bacause of this. And I may not come back for awhile yet again.
At this very moment, I want to use the bathroom again but I refuse to go ask for the key again. So I will just head home.

The solution to this problem is to do what Starbucks in the area does: Put in a password punch-in machine to get into bathrooms. All the patron has to do is ask for passcode from barista and then punch it in. Very simple fix that would strengthen the comfort and function of this Second Cup location.

* I will come back once in awhile to check on this issue. If it doesn't change, this location will never be my regular place. And I live closer to here than any other place.

I was pretty thrilled to try this hyped coffee place, but it was a letdown. I had heard Second Cup is the best coffee chain out there. Based on my personal experience, I would strongly advise against visiting this particular coffee shop.
The quality of their coffee is truly subpar, leaving a lot to be desired.
Additionally, the staff members lack the friendly and accommodating attitude that one would expect from a customer-oriented establishment.
Moreover, the overall cleanliness and hygiene of the location, both inside and outside, were severely lacking, which can be quite off-putting.
Considering all these factors, I genuinely believe it would be a waste of your valuable time and money to patronize this specific coffee shop. It would be more worthwhile to explore other options, such as Starbucks or even indulging in the comfort of brewing your own coffee at home.

I was told I couldn’t stay in the store because I ordered my coffee in a to go cup, even though I go here often on my work breaks and was never told this before.there were other customers with to go cups sitting in the store, and it’s not like I didn’t pay the extra. 15 fee for the cup. I’ll just go somewhere else nearby where paying customers are actually welcome

Been here a few times and the servers always seem annoyed with customers but they laugh and joke around with each other. It's not a very welcoming atmosphere when you come in.

Has gotten really expensive. We had a tea and a coffee (reg coffee, nothing fancy, was over $9.00.seemed very expensive. Maybe I'm too old.

Staff here are always ready to take orders and answer questions. Lots of sitting options for individuals or groups. Lovely mural on one of the walls.

The Oliver Square Second Cup is an Oasis for every worker in the strip mall and many area locals for over 20 years.

Just like Starbucks a SMALL beverage was almost $6.00. Not worth it? Will make it at home

The baristas are always friendly and they always clean the tables. The cakes are always old tasting not fresh at all and are pricey. The drinks are always good my favourite drink is the frozen hot chocolate.

They keep cream, sugar, and napkins behind the counter, they didn’t ask me if I wanted cream or sugar, they filled the cup so high, when I put cream and sugar in it overflowed my cup, and so I had to ask for a napkin!

Wow, so good! Baristas absolutely know what they're doing and this one guy even talked to me extensively about ingredients in drinks to so I could find one to better suit my diet, knows his stuff for sure. Kudos!

The ladies at this location are amazing! When I come in the mornings there’s usually only one of them
on shift and they handle themselves so well. I’m always amazed at how fast and friendly they are! A coffee is always served with a smile here!
