When Ezzies existed, this Shell location was so busy, they needed to hire security to control the people.
Now that Ezzies is gone, no security guard is needed.
There are >>NO GAS PUMPS<< here.
The tanks and pumps were removed from site due to tank age/environ concerns; and there is no indication the newest owners do not feel it is financially worth it to clean up their environmentally damaged lot and install modern pumps.
This is odd, as it is easily the best location for a gas stn on the #1 highway virtually from after Redcliff alllllllll the way to…essentially Dunmore ~20km distance if you look at Maps.
The in store in, well, open. Mostly catering to locals and tourists buying cigarettes and using the bathroom…hold it if you can wait.
They sell plenty of essentials, but only one type of it typically. Do not go looking pop unless you’re needing literally Pepsi, Coke, and the very base line of pop products.
One nice thing-their Red Bull is well stocked, even with the new winter flavour. But, that is the Red Bull company’s excellent logistics.
Past that, the store is bright, clean and it your literal best option for gas station stuff.
They now sell disposable ecigs for $30.
Remember when the restaurant attached to Shell was open? Of course not…but it was *good*. Such a waste of space and an eyesore to have half your building rotting away.
One may assume Shell hours on Canada’s main highway would be 24/7 but one would be incorrect. They close about 10pm.
This is the best of our convenience stops immediately off the highway. Truckers -don’t bother, you need to go to Husky 1km south.
Not that it matters, but this place is planted in the middle of a huge amount of tourism…
So this is what travellers to the Hat get to see from their rooms at the 2 large hotels and many restaurants across the streets.
Travellers, if you can, buy your stuff at other places for less and get what you want-
and use this joint for emergency chip/ciggie/mix runs.
