Bin (the owner) has been keeping all my mountaineering boots & shoes in great shape for 4 years now.
The Canmore guy (Kumpfy Shoes) ground the toe of my Scarpa Mont Blanc GT Pros down instead of removing the old soles chemically, work was generally rushed and sloppy. Actually put a firefighter's sole on them one time, didn't even last 6 months! Then ground the toe bail down removing the wrong soles; sprayed a water-soluble dye on his stitching work than ran all over my foot first time out again, then gave me a $50 credit against the work for his horrible work. Sorry to say but for me, the guy was a disaster. That last "repair" left less than 3mm left for my toe bail. Thought the boots would be toast at the next re-sole.
Bin (the owner of Shoemasters) has since re-soled them 3x and I'm still climbing ice on these things (Kain Face on Robson, Walter in Lyells (Lyell 4), 20+ days out in Ghost, Kananaskis on ice last season alone - these boots are my go-to for ice). He's done numerous stitch repairs, etc, these things get a lot of use. He's re-soled a 3-season technical shoe and a hiking boot for me as well, including other fixes.
I have been bringing shoes to Shoemasters for a long time and have had consistently excellent experiences. Service is great and friendly, and more than happy to recommend ways to keep shoes in working order for longer. Will continue bringing shoes here for a long time to come.
I told him be careful not to make it dirty. Then it turns out there are lots of dirts! And I never wore them it’s brand new. It’s $2000 gift from my bf and I really liked it. He told me it’s not his fault and he said “ oh this leather will be dirty after you wear it once …. ” I mean there’s a lot difference that you made it dirty and myself wear and become dirty right?
Good little shoe repair shop. It's hard to find these days. Does quality work. He used to be in South Center Mall. Now on Macleod north of Chinook Centre right by the Goodwill.
It’s important to find a cobbler that you trust. I bring all my shoes here. The owner, Bing, takes great pride and it shows. I like a place that gives me the lowest priced solutions and not try to upsell me. I have fixed all of the shoes my dog thinks are toys! She has good tastes!
Excellent work but definitely expensive. Location is right in donation bay for Goodwill, larger signage would lessen confusion for people trying to find both.
Absolutely adore this place! I have been coming here for years to have my shoes repaired or altered. I’m always so happy with the outcome and the prices including the timelines are exceptional! I cannot promote this business enough!
I just went to have my shoes stretched. I’m sure he does amazing work on repairs, but I felt like the communication was really poor. He said he didn’t think the type of leather on my shoes would stretch, I said I’d try it since the shoes were very expensive, and he agreed that if after 3 days it wasn’t enough stretch for me, he’d put it in the machine longer. I came back after the first 3 days and he acted very annoyed at me that I wanted in the machine longer, shaking his head and not answering me when I asked him if there was any chance of damage to the shoe.
The owner is a happy person and does his job very well. Replaced my heel and repaired my boots (love the repaired version better than the OG). Great business!
