Employees are so rude and will not help. They will refuse to talk to you and put you on hold or hang up instead of allowing you to speak with a pharmacist.

Have switched pharmacies after steady decline of service over the last few years. It's also disheartening to watch the management (older black haired woman) regularly accusing people of shoplifting and hearing her make disparaging remarks about them even when they haven't stolen anything. This happens everytime I am in the store, if there is such a bad problem get your security back or take out the self checkout. If that was me you were chasing and yelling after accusing me of shoplifting and I hadn't done anything, I would go after you and make a public plea to anyone else you did this too to join me. The number of people would be staggering.

I had an appointment made to see the prescribing pharmacist made it around 1230 ish for the same day at 3: 55 got there at 3: 50 went to check in the pharmacy assistant was more concerned with someone's insurance not working asked me why I was there multiple times handed me paperwork to fill out for an injection which I wasn't there for that told me to sit and wait then after 20 min asked me again why I was there and then they stated oh yah the prescribing pharmacist she went home she had to pick up her kids. Simply rude disorganized you are treated like you are an inconvenience or a criminal in this store it is close to where I live but I will keep my business with Bower Shoppers Drugmart much more professional and appreciate my business. Lesson learned I would give no stars if it would let me do yourself a favor and avoid this business!

I often use this late at night to shop because it's the only place open till midnight on the north end they have an excellent refrigerated grocery section and dry goods area. Even a really nice house hold cleaner selection/laundry soap paper towels TP everything and anything you could ever need for a home is here they have one of the largest selections in minerals and vitamins in red deer that I've seen against the back wall by the pharmacy.
The store is very clean but when you walk in you are often followed by security or staff.
It makes me feel really disrespected when I can clearly pick out who's following me. Especially as I'm a late night shopper, there's usually very limited people unless of course you're passing the pharmacy which is always busy.
I am also disappointed by the pharmacy owner he has a very thick accent hard to understand and he doesn't like to repeat himself.the wait time is rediculous. The lack of communication is apparent. I have called in to fill prescriptions and still showed up and been waiting an hour to get my medication

This will be my last time ever shopping at this location. Went to this location as I was out for a walk with my 3 children, we had previously stopped at dollarama and purchased some snacks for the evening. We walked in with a small bag (never been in issue in the past, not to mention there was no signage stating bags are to be left at the front) and were followed as if we were criminals and then asked to leave our bag at the front. I had said no I was not comfortable doing so. This policy has never been mentioned to me in the past and I’ve had things stolen in the past as well. Besides I’m out shopping with 3 young children and use to bring purses in the store larger than the bag in question. The young employee an ethnic lady with glasses and long black hair proceeded to follow us through the store and to the doors and glared at us through the glass window as we walked away. My kids felt like they were judged as criminals and were very upset and so was I. Needless to say we will no be back and I have advised my family members not to shop here either. Very disappointed!

Every single time we come here to fill a prescription, they’ll go “30minutes, please”. And, without fail, EVERY single time they’ve yet to even process the prescription when we come to the pickup counter.very disorganized, and poor time management.don’t set expectations you can not deliver upon.

I do not recommend this store if you're a minority or have any type of mental health illness. I went into the store the other day to purchase a face cream & this short lady with long black hair was following me around the entire time glaring at me. When I was about to pay for my items at the self check out she started demanding that I walk back over to cosmetics to pay for my items. When I told her no that I was fine paying for my items at the till I was already at she got more aggressive and I felt like she was about to grab me which caused me to have aminor panic attack and needed help with the machine. If theft is such a problem in the store why is there no sign asking customers to pay for items in certain sections. Further more why is loss prevention not stating who they are and explaining store policies in polite way before the person gets to a till. I will not be back as it's not worth reliving a traum a for a face cream. I'll be going to Sephora for my skincare from now on.

I've never been yelled at by a pharmacist before this was a first! When they fax In repeats and the fax doesn't go through how am I supposed to know it didn't go through if nobody calls me? I don't have access to their computer, nobody calls me to tell me it didn't go through so how am I supposed to know? So unprofessional to yell at people for no reason at all, maybe there's a language barrier and he didn't understand me or maybe he just needs a hug or a nap! Lol

We are regular customers at this location. My wife went to return the perfume she purchased a week ago from shoppers and she provided the original receipt. The lady incharge there took receipt and asked my wife if she knows the purchase date. My wife replied she don't know exact day and if she want then check it on the receipt. Lady refused to check the receipt, kept the receipt with her, won't return the receipt and decided to take memory test of my wife and requested to see the bank statement!? What the heck kind of business going there? Just a Strange and unheard behavior by the staff.

After the argument she was able to return the perfume but, we would like to ask some questions to the management
This is how shoppers treat their regular customers?
Is the staff so incompetent that they can't recognize genuine customer after providing the proof of purchase?
Does cashier or any staff there has any authority to check someone's bank statement or personal banking?
Shoppers don't trust or honor their own pos transaction receipt and barcodes?
Is this a new sales tactic to harass people who want to return?
What kind of power is given to the staff to harass the customers like this?
Do you think your staff need be hold accountable?
Can management explain to this kind of employees that their salary is depended on the regular customers?
Are they given proper training to deal with people?

We would like some answers otherwise we will escalate this further.

IF YOU ENJOY BEING FOLLOWED, GREAT PLACE TO SHOP! WENT IN TO BUY MILK, AN LOOK AROUND. WELL, THIS ONE LADY COMES up an says Hi like she knows me. So anyways I carry on, well I go get my mil, an she is pretending to call someone, funny thing I was the only customer in there. So, I thought I bet they are following me, I go to the next I'll over and there she comes again so I go further down to where the body wash was and guess who strolls by me once again so I decided you know what forget it I walk by one of the shopper drug Mart ladies who works in the cosmetics and a security guard security guard goes excuse me ma'am does it look like I work here I just walked away and I thought really they're going to follow me around for what reason?

Friendly informative and helpful pharmaceutical staff but some of the staff members are a little to carried away on their theft control.the lady from the front end came into a private consultation for an injection trying to demand I put my backpack outside. I was a little put off to say the least but the pharmacist instructed her that it was ok and I went about my business. I am not a thief and I wasn't walking around a store stealing I am a paying customer and I deserve to be treated with respect

Went in for bonus points redemption. I had never done this before- so asked the staff (showed her my phone with the offer) if all I had to do is buy the tv with my points and I would get the bonus redemption. She had no clue what I was talking about when I said points redemption prior to me showing her my phone and she said “I don’t know do you have enough points? ” and I showed her my points and she said I did, so we went to the self check out together- she clicked all the buttons on the screen for me and when I checked my receipt I did not get the bonus points. I told her that was the whole point of getting this tv and she said there was nothing she could do and told me to call pc optimum. If I would have known all I had to do was spend more money to get the points I would have no problem doing that. I asked to speak to someone else as this girl has zero clue about anything related to optimum points - she had long brown hair that covered her name tag. I got excellent help from Abbey and she called higher ups to see if I could get my points back, unfortunately I wasn’t able to which is extremely unfortunate because I had been saving these points for a long time and they are wasted all because an employee does not know how to do her job. Extremely unhappy with her service and will not be coming back. I have been a shoppers member for years and usually have very helpful staff that help me get the most out of my points but this girl was absolutely terrible.

Came in with my grandma last saturday looking to buy some mascara and was very clearly profiled as soon as I came through the door; we were not given a minute of privacy and were consistently followed and watched.when paying at self checkout three separate workers stood in a group a ways away laughing, clearly judging us and by the looks of it making sure we didn’t steal.very unpleasant and uncomfortable environment, would rate zero state if i could.

Kind courteous staff and one of my favourite stores to shop in having great products and fast friendly advice from knowledgeable staff with a good selection of products that might not be found anywhere else or you may find specific products that isn't in stock or available anyplace elsewhere

As long as you don't have to deal with the pharmacist. You should be ok. When I asked if they had a product, pharmacist just looked at me like I was disturbing him, Aand said No. Thank goodness another store worker heard my request she was able to take me right to the protect.

If I could give less than one Star I would. I had to pick up a prescription for my 4 yr old the other evening. Now we were the only people in the store and the pharmacist said it would be about 20 minutes so I figured we would just look around while we waited. I understand people shoplift that's why they have security and cameras, but who the he'll would turn in a prescription with their name on it then go steal stuff. Not only was the security guard practically looking over my shoulder but they also had one of the what I can only assume is a shelf stocker follow me into every single aisle, they didn't even try to be sneaky and watch from afar they were practically on top of me the entire time. It was iritating because I don't want to slam into someone everytime I turn around because your following that close to me. Then the pharmacist knowing I'm giving the prescription to a child and knowing the pills have to be quartered didn't even do it for me. If I have to spend $145 dollars getting a prescription I expect better service. I think I'll be going to a different pharmacy from now on as this is ridiculous. Very disappointing.

I was early for my prescription. They advised me they would call my name when ready and asked I take a seat. After an hour I got back in line, only to find out my order had been ready quite a while. Anymore than 15 minutes is inappropriate to request customers to wait. I never once heard a name called when their prescription was ready while I was present.

Great service! Had both Covid vaccinations done here and they were incredibly friendly, respectful and quite responsible regarding my health. The rest of the store has extremely helpful and kind staff. They either came down to my level in a very friendly yet discreet way, or happily reached for an item that I wasn't able to get myself, without question and without judgement. "Ableism" is a dirty word in this store and pharmacy.
I have yet to go to the cosmetic section but will need to soon. I will either edit this or write a new review. But this store/pharmacy is most definitely worth your time and money (I found food, snacks, etc for less than most convenience stores like 7-11 charge!)

Run from this pharmacy. Brought a prescription for my child, Dropped it off. No problem. Come to pick it up and walk out the door have a quick look at what was given to me and the dosage is 25%! Higher than what the doctor prescribed and in the wrong format. Prescription cleary shows it is a child.

Brought to the attention of the "attendant". Waited for pharmacist, he tells me they gave us the wrong dosage. (For an adult), No apology. No remorse.

Ensure you do not use this place for your own safety and the safety of your family. Find a competent pharmacy.

Horrible customer service. Bought a wrist brace, it was the wrong size. Went back to the till 4 minutes later to exchange it for the size up. The cashier was very slow with the customer ahead of me. When it was my turn at the till the cashier chose to ring in another lady’s coupon for cheap eggs and then let the customer walk away to get her eggs. Leaving me standing there waiting for the other lady to return so I could get on with my day. When I was finally able to get to the till the cashier asked me for my card, which was in the car. I don’t understand why the return and purchase could not have been on the same transaction. I finally went out to the car to get my card. When I returned to the store the cashier was no where near the till.

Used to be my usual shoppers but will be switching pharmacies. In Feb, I got a medication vile sent down from my drs to this shoppers, went to see if I was able to get the shot that day but was unable too.the lady in the pharmacy told me I was able to bring the vile home to either bring to my doctors or back to the shoppers when they had an opening. Took the medication home for about a week and then called to book an appointment for the shot (they were aware I brought it home) everything was okay at this point. Went in and filled out all my medication sheets for about 30 mins. As I gave them the vile (unopened and in all packages) they told me they couldn't give the shot because I brought it home. The lady told me twice I could bring it back (they day I bought it and the day I called to book). Then the pharmacy "manager" proceeds to speak to me with complete disrespect and let me know that "no one in his pharmacy would have allowed that medication to leave the pharmacy in those circumstances " and that I was in the wrong. The lack of basic knowledge to administer medication is upsetting from a pharmacy. The actual owner of the pharmacy resolved the vile problem and administered the shot for me himself and apologized for the actions of his pharmacy team. Not here to slander this pharmacy but make people aware that even a simple medication couldn't be administered properly from this pharmacy. So now I'll only deal with the owner himself.

My first time in my entire life entering this location has been a very toxic experience. I do not recommend this store to anyone. My sister and I came into the store to purchase an allergy medication. This little woman had followed us and glared at us the entire time we browsed. I walked in her direction she then accused my sister of having issues there in the past. I asked her who she is, she was ignorant with her response and denied to disclose who she was. She exclaimed that my sister had stolen items from this specific store. Like I mentioned earlier this was our first time in our life’s entering this store. We both explained to her that we haven’t ever been in this store and came here for allergy medication because all other Shoppers locations were closed. She continued in her combative escalation. My sister then offered her to look at her I. D as proof of who she is. The woman wouldn’t look at her I. D but held it in her hand still in her confrontational stance. She then demanded that we leave and she exclaimed that she didn’t have to prove who she is. I pulled my phone out to call my partner to inform my partner of what was happening. She then lunged at me in an attempt to grab my phone then shouted that I can not take pictures in the store she then grabbed my arm trying to push me. I pulled back saying she has no right to touch my phone nor has the right to touch me and she had just assaulted me. I let her know that I was calling the police for what she did. Then finally a store employee intervened separated her from us. We talked with the store employee explaining to him that she was harassing us, he then exclaimed that there has been a lot of theft in this store. We responded with that doesn’t have anything to do with us specifically. We did get the managers number and will lodge a complaint with head office. Yes I did call the police. The Red Deer police came within minutes of me calling. They had a word with her letting her know that she has no right to put her hands on anyone. And she was confrontational with the police officer. The police did inform me that they will follow up with her. The officer commented that he didn’t understand how the store employed such a person. She exclaimed to be a loss prevention worker after I let her know that I was calling the police. And to my knowledge these lost prevention workers can not put there hands on you unless they are detaining you. And yes this is confirmed by the police. They also have an illegal sign posted that no pictures or videos can be taken in the store. The police officer explained that the sign is illegal and that the store is a public place. There is no law preventing anyone from taking pictures or videos in the store. I absolutely do not recommend this specific location, worst experience in my life.

I'll be adding to the multiple reviews on here of the nasty loss prevention lady that can't seem to remember me personally considering how much I shop there and how much I spend. Each and every time I shop at this location from the second I walk into the store to the second I leave I am followed by this lady, I get dirty looks, whispers to the other staff and other weird treatment. While I understand Red Feer Is a high theft place its completely discriminating to follow someone around the store assuming they are going to steal. I don't know if she does this to every single person or just people who look say "out of the ordinary" but regardless I'll be taking my business elsewhere. Why this lady still had a job with the amount of complaints that are on here about her is beyond me. Someone a little higher up should be notified as this is a serious problem. Which I will be doing as well.

First time visiting this shoppers and I was harassed by the little loss prevention girl upon entering the store, told to leave and accused of causing problems at this location simply because she recognized my face. At this point I’m confused because I’m wearing a face mask due to covid, and I’ve never stepped foot in this store until tonight.
This little person glared and made remarks and was absolutely ignorant. I will not be back at this location, and because of her becoming aggressive there was police involved once she assaulted my sister. Her excuse was no pictures can be taken, my sister was trying to read a text message and the little girl stepped forward attempted to grab my sisters cellphone with no success she then grabbed her arm in an unprofessional and aggressive manner. The police made a report on her and went to explain that unless detaining for shop lifting what she did tonight is on grounds for assault.
This location is privately owned and the officer explained the sign for no pictures and videos is considered illegal because this is public property. So this location is awful! The loss prevent girl is a mess, and we will be made a formal complaint with cooperate because by these other reviews nothing is done about the mess of a loss preventing girl they have working who is assaulting and harassing people based on her memory which clearly is messed up and refuses to correct herself and listen to the officers advice on remembering her position and that she isn’t a cop and shouldn’t be acting this way towards anyone.

Don’t shop here is my suggestion, I’ll never go back to this location again

I often shop at Shoppers. I went in to this location today for my StriVectin serum. I was just looking at when a sales worker said, "Just so you know you have to pay for that at our counter. " I thanked her but she didn't move. She didn't stop staring at me until I got uncomfortable and walked away. I understand that cosmetics can be a high-theft area, but I was in there to buy product. Guess I will buy it from somewhere else from now on.

Hi I shop often at Shoppers Drug Mart and often I'm welcomed by a nice professional young lady. "later i found out that she is a loss prevention officer" In some of the reviews i found some very rude comments about her. Let me say something to those people. If you have nothing to hide you should not be offended that she is following you She is doing her job! Unfortunately this town got so bad that wee need her. So for the Loss Prevention Officer keep up the good work and thank you for keeping our store safe

Possibly one of the worst pharmacies in Red Deer. Unfriendly staff, and the prescriptions are hardly ever ready when they say they will be. Today, as a prime example, I called around 2 for a prescription refill. The person who answered the phone said, no problem, it'll be ready by 5: 00. Arrived at shoppers after I was off work, and waited in the store for over an hour because they didn't have my prescription ready, and hardly even an apology for same. Not only that, but multiple times when ordering refills, they don't have proper stock on the medications. I would suggest that someone go somewhere, anywhere else, besides here for prescriptions and other pharmacy related needs.

Never been so uncomfortable in a shoppers.as soon as I entered the store, I was followed around while I shopped, then as I approach the pharmacy desk, she is describing me to another employee so, I ask if there is a problem, she then tells me they are not talking about me. Not a big deal.until they both decide it’s time to run their mouth instead of getting back to work.not very professional, I will be recording myself for my protection next time I enter this store, Do better.

I have been going into this shoppers for over a year great staff all very helpful! This past 2 months have had to go more often due to health. So I walk around the store a lot. On one of my walks drew the attention of a lady who started following me. Turns out she was one of loss prevention staff. After a breif chat she was satisfied I was waiting for my meds! I have been in the store many times since. She has always been deligant, courteous and very professional friendly and helpful at all times when she has interacted with me. I have also observed her interact with other customers in store.at least 30 times in past 60 days. Having been a retail manager I have frist hand experience how difficult the loss prevention staffs postion is. And at times dangerous! Having witnessed occasions were staff have been assulated. The lady i have come to know would be my pick to protect my investment in my store and to be repectful, helpful and friendly to my coustomers. Top notch

For the last few months EVERY time i go into this store ive had some lady following me around, even when there are tons of other people in the store she will only follow me, when asked what her issue is she escalates the situation to the point where the owner of the store has had to get her to walk away. She has never stated that she is loss prevention until i had to call the rcmp for her harassing me. Due to the stress of the situation and being epileptic this has caused me to have a seizure upon returning home, on more then one occasion. Even tho i have spoken to the owner and he has talked to her supervisor she still insists on snide comments and following me around. After 7 years of going to this store i have transfered my prescriptions to a different shoppers and so will all of my family. The store owner Kambo Githu does nothing about it

I went to Shoppers the other day specifically for a couple of smaller items. I went in and was asked (not very politely) to leave my backpack at the front, and I politely complied. Then I was followed around the store (not very subtly, I might add), because they thought I was a shoplifter. It made me quite uncomfortable and I left in a not-so-good mood. I understand that loss prevention is a part of your job. But I don’t think I look like a shoplifter. I was wearing a mask (because of COVID), a toque and hoodie (because it’s winter), and my backpack (because I walk everywhere). I wanted to look for a specific snack (welches, which I have been craving) but I felt like I was being herded out of the store. So I bought my two items and left. I’m too scared to go back to that store now because they think I will steal.

Hello, I would like to bring an incident to light involving me and two employees, one being a chasier named "Jess" and I was unable to catch the other empolyees name, but I was told that they were the asistant manager. When I arrived at checkout Jess and another cashier were conversing, I asked if anyone was able to help me at the register because I was wanting to purchase some lottery tickets, yet I was told to help myself at self checkout with Jess adding that she would be able to help me "after". When I finished paying for my items, I turned to Jess and asked if I could purchase the lottery tickets now, she then told me to get in the back of the line again and she would then help me. I felt that this was unfair because I had already gone through the line up once and was previously told that I would be helped "after". The asistant manager was called and their solution was to tell me to purchase my lottery tickets somehwere else and not to come back. I felt that this situation was not handled appropriately, as myself, the customer was made to feel as a burden and then treated poorly. The customs serivce that I recived in regard to this situation was unsatifastory and very unprofessional. I have been a loyal customer to Shoppers for years and I am usually beyond content with the service, however yesterday I left the store feeling uncomfortatble and disappointed. Thank you for taking the time to read about this incident.
This incident occured at Shoppers Drug Mart (6320,50TH AVE, UNIT 1, Red Deer, AB) at approx. 2: 05pm-2: 20pm May 8th, 2020.

0 star rating, went there to buy rubbing alcohol because there are buttons sticking on an electronic device wanted to clean it, got told to go to the pharmacy and after requesting a bottle had the lady look in the back for it. She came back holding a bottle discretely (I'd assume so I wouldn't see that they had any in stock) and went over to the desk where the other pharmacist told her that they "don't sell that to his kind". They then proceeded to tell me it's for pharmacy use only and they didnt have any to sell specifically to me. Didn't ask me what the use is for (I know what it's alternative use is but just wanted to clean a controller). Sincerely an extraordinarily livid ex customer.

Went to get some grype water for a colicky baby and asked the pharmacist assistant and a pharmacist where it was located and neither of them knew what it even was. One asked if it was pedialyte I was looking for. Most misinformed pharmacist I have ever dealt with

Stand around chatting with a closed register so you have no choice but to do it yourself. Parking lot was overrun with stray carts, looking messy and making parking more difficult. Extremely rude and unprofessional behaviour by the manager. Employees ignore you and dont smile or make eye contact.

Ever since Todd left this location the pharmacy staff has been going down hill the lack of respect and professionalism. The only reason why I have kept going to this location is cause it was 24 hrs but since it will be closing at midnight now I think alot of people will be leaving this location. I have reported problems about different staff members and I know a number of others have as well about the same staff members and yet nothing is done and the staff still treat people the same way.

Looking forward to this location closing since it will become useless when it is no longer 24 hrs.
