Incredible. Authentic Italian cuisine, good prices and the staff were excellent. Amazing experience all around. I highly recommend it!

Great vibe, food was amazing and the service was also amazing, prices are also very fair for the portions you get. Would recommend the Chicken Parm and Linguine Di Marte.

Congratulations to my beautiful fiancée for picking out her dream wedding dress with her family and friends this past Friday! Unfortunately, her excitement was crushed by the unapologetically terrible service at SPK. Worse yet, this has been her favourite restaurant, and she hyped it up to all her friends before arriving. After waiting an hour for an incomplete drink order and ONE appetizer, their entrees were nowhere in sight. When she asked if they could just cancel the entrees because her pregnant best friend was feeling nauseous, she was treated poorly by the manager until she was so embarrassed she paid the whole bill. By all accounts the server was very sweet and sympathetic, and the food (which they waited an additional 30 minutes for and took to go) was delicious, so obviously the kitchen staff is on point as well. My advice to the talented and friendly staff is to RUN to greener pastures because SPK is a sinking ship.

She came home IN TEARS on her special day, which obviously didn’t sit well with me, so I called to see what that manager had to say for himself. He told me that the wait wasn’t “that bad”, that my partner was “over emotional”, and that customers “always think they’re right”. It was all I could do not to drive down there and continue the conversation in the parking lot. AVOID this place if you are not in the mood to be mistreated and/or enraged.

On 25th of May 2023 we had a dinner reservation for party of 5. From the very start our dinner service after we had the pleasure of meeting a very personable server by the name of Fernando. This gentleman’s helpful dinner selection advise and willingness to fulfill our specific requests made our special occasion even more enjoyable. We all agreed that our dinner selections were absolutely delicious and the service provided was efficient and without fault. It was a pleasure to have met this individual who obviously enjoys his profession and provides a very positive opinion of this establishment, we shall return.

Yummm! We had 9 people for a birthday celebration this evening. We got amazing service from Forch and boy was the food delicious.
Everyone enjoyed our meals. I had the Zucchina Nastro con Pollo so fresh and full of flavour.

We had a lovely time. Got in before it got busy. The food was great, and we were shocked by the size of the main portions, we are thinking of doing family style next time. Overall, it was a great meal out, and we went home with leftovers.

Love this place. We have been regularly visiting for over 10 years and it is never a disappointment.

We were there New Year’s Eve, 6 adults, & a 6 year old. Very busy as expected, however service was good & our food was fresh & hot. My disappointment of the evening was when we received our 3 separate bills. 18% gratuity had been added onto each bill. Not sure about the others at our table, but we always leave a tip of 15-18%. The only time we have had a tip added to our bill was when there were 8 or more at the table & we were advised up front of this added gratuity. Tipping, & the amount is at the discretion of the guest & the restaurant should not be adding it to the bill, especially without advising the guest upfront. We didn’t make an issue about this as our server was going to receive this amount anyway, but as stated it is our choice to tip. No more visits to this establishment. There are many Italian restaurants in Edmonton just as good, or better, that leave the option of tipping to the guest, not telling you to last when they drop off your bill.

It's has been many years since I was last at the SPK. I was full of anticipation, remembering how incredible it was. Let me preface this by saying our server was excellent. However, the lighting was too dark; several people around the restaurant had to use their phone flash light to read the menu. It was too warm - the heat was putting us to sleep. The appetizers, although tasty were too large - they could be a meal on their own. The restaurant is a large, single room with a TV above the bar! How distracting and not ideal if trying to make a relaxed dining experience. The veal was ok, too much charr on one side of it and not enough lemon. Pasta with my dish was tasteless. When we first walked in and approached the desk wanting to check in, the bald 'owner' standing behind the desk only acknowledged us after a good 5 minutes while we waited for him to go through his POS system- a "Hello, be with you in a moment " would have been more professional. A waitress was moving chairs past us and brazed the top of my head - who moves chairs that way, over people's heads?

Beautiful ambience, absolutely delicious food, fantastic service! What a great experience! I had the penne gorgonzola, my husband had the spaghetti carbonara, and my son had the spaghetti with meatballs (cannot for the life of me remember the name). All were absolutely delicious! We also had the creme caramello (might've gotten that one wrong) and vanilla ice cream for dessert. The whole experience left me speechless! Thank you for a wonderful night!

Great atmosphere! Good for a fancy night out with your significant other. Food quality was great (I ordered the calamari for the appetizer and the salmone for the main). The portion was awesome. Would and will return

We took our aunt for dinner and it was fabulous! The portion sizes are generous, food is delicious and the service is excellent. I had the salmon with mushroom risotto, my fiancé had the spaghetti carbonara and our aunt had the chicken risotto. The atmosphere and decor is on point. Fabulous experience!

Beautifully set up restaurant. All staff is polite and as you would expect in a fine establishment like this one. Atmosphere is very nice. The chefs prepare your food with a smile. Food is to die for. Definitely would eat here again and again.

Went for dinner tonight with the family. Our server Fernando wasn't aware but my sister-in-law is in long-term care and we rarely get to go out together as a family. Even without knowing how special it was, he still went out of his way to make sure we had an incredible experience that we won't soon forget. Highly appreciated the incredible service, that was quick, efficient and friendly. Absolutely recommend this location. Great food, great atmosphere, even better service. We will be returning.

Mussels were great, steak was expertly prepared, my wife enjoyed her salmon with risotto. Our server I believe her name was Juanita was super freindly and helped make my 50th birthday a pleasant one.

The food was delicious of course, and value was on point.
But the service? The service we received was superb.
Fernando made us feel like we where guests in his own home. Kind, at ease, and extremely personable. Can’t wait to come back and try more of their yummy menu.

I hadnt been here in ages.that is on me. I will not let that happen again. My risotto was delicous and I even had enough for lunch the next day

Great food, good sized portions, with a nice wine list. I was particularly impressed by the calamari as it was incredibly tender. Can't wait to come back.

Had a wonderful experience with our server Jordan tonight! We had Arancini Con Fontina as an appetizer, started off delicious! As our mains I had the spaghetti carbonara and my partner had the Rigatoni Salsiccia. Both dishes were incredible, best pasta we’ve ever had. Beautiful atmosphere, definitely our new go to spot!

This use to be my favourite place to eat. Love the decor at night…. Just good feels. I would highly suggest that the cooks find a Italian restaurant that understands taste and flavor. The last two times that I have been here they were…. A hot mess. I gave them another chance last night just so I knew for sure that I wasn’t wrong. Their sauces are not the consistency they usually would be at an Italian restaurant or had been at this Italian restaurant in the past. They are pasty thick and Mucky…. It saddens me that someone doesn’t understand sauce should be just that sauce and flowing over your noodles and have flavor. Dear Owner you should send your stuff to a Italian restaurant so they could taste smell and enjoy food eating out is an experience to enjoy not just food put on the table I would love to come back as I have very very close! Ps it saddens me to write this.

I"ll preface this by saying I generally never go out for Italian food- its usually very overpriced and as a former cook I can make most of it at home. This restaurant absolutely proved me wrong. The quality of every dish was fantastic. We went for a family birthday dinner, the six of us split the mussles appetizer, which was delicious and it large enough for everyone to have a generous portion. The salads are also huge, for 11$ I expected a side salad, but had enough to fill 4 side plates. Everyone present loved their pasta and took home enough for a second meal. I very highly recommend this place!

The prices were reasonable. The pizza i had was very salty, and the waitress kept filling my glass with water. The service was good, but the food not very good.

The food is incredible and delicious. My Father's colleague told us to get the mussels (Cozze Siciliana) for appetizers and she is correct that the mussels is amazing. You want to drink up the sauce in the mussels or mop it up with bread. Wish I had more bread.

Along with the other appetizers are Salsiccia, Arrancini, Calamari, cesar salad, Minestrone zuupa, and Tomato & Basil zuppa. The portions are huge for appetizers but they are taste really good. The Salsiccia has the great amount of spiciness which reminds me of another Italian restaurant with their sausage and potatoes.

Cesar salad was great as there was the right amount of seasoning but there were some bites I took there was a lot of garlic. Probably ease on the garlic a bit but other than that it was good. The croutons gives that crunch and texture when eating with the salad. I am very impress with the salad as other Italian restaurants give you stale and oily croutons and not enough Cesar dressing. Sicilian Pasta Kitchen (SPK) Downtown did a great job.

The calarmi and Arrancini are also good. The calarmi sauce works really well with the dish and helps elevate the dish to a whole new level. I had low expectations for Arrancini but SPK blew my expectations. The risotto ball was crispy and mozzarella oozes out. When you add the tomatoe sauce again it elevates it.

The mains was the pasta as the meat did not seem interesting at all. But the pasta was amazing. I ordered Piatto Assortito (two kinds of pasta) - Penne Arrabiata and Rigatoni Con Salsiccia. Both pasta has the right amount of heat and has a nice bite (al dente). I enjoyed my pasta alot.

I did not ordered cream sauce pasta because I had bad experience with them that they turn gloopy and mushy. I do not remember the pasta names for the rest of my party. However I tried my parties pasta and wow the cream based pasta was really good. It is not gloopy and has the right consistency. Compliments to the pasta station chef that the cream based pasta is not gloopy.

Finally dessert or as they say in Italian dolce. I ordered Tiramisu and the others ordered Zeppole with custard cream and Creme Caramello. All of them taste really good. But the best so far would be the Creme Caramello as I liked the creaminess of the custard. Tiramisu is 2nd.

Our group bought wine. One thing I should say is you should put all the wines on the side not upright as the cork is suppose to be wet. Instead it is dry and that is not a good indication that you store your wine properly.

I would come back again! Great job SPK!

If you want great service ask for Fernando! Nothing better than some fresh pasta on a gloomy evening

Loved my dinner here. Our waitress was lovely and the food was absolutely delicious. Calamari maintained the flavors and textures of the squid while batter was perfectly crispy. Mussels were so good with the white wine gorgonzola sauce. Will visit again!

I was there on Sunday. Food was great, drinks were great.
Asked for summer fruity drinks and it was definitely a summer fruity drinks. It was amazing!

Terrible service. I was seated for more 25 minutes before anyone even asked my drink selection. They sat us in the corner and totally forgot us. Didn’t refill our drinks, ask if we wanted appetizers or even check on us. I had to flag 2 waiters down to ask who was serving us. The servers are all wearing street clothes so it’s very confusing and hard to tell who is working here. However, when our caucasian friend joined us the service immediately became 10x better. Funny how that works…. Completely ruined our dinner experience and put a sour taste in my mouth. Never going back again. I would advise any POC dining alone to avoid.

I go there today the waitress she nice but she aggressive. She force me to buy wine I already told her no she still bring out the beverages menu I make her happy I order one. I just finish in few minute she come with another one. In few minute she come ask me if I want another one.kinda forcing customers. I seem she should know better when customers say no at the beginning. With all this happened all customers should be aware.

We had a wonderful meal at SPK. The patio is cozy and warm. The service was fantastic and the food was delicious. The portions are great for the price. Fresh buns were served to start. Our son enjoyed celebrating his birthday there!

I can't comment on the food but in my experience here the manager/owner has got some real anger issues and treats the staff here extremely badly. I do not support restaurants where staff are disrespected and will never support or recommend this restaurant.

The food was beyond delicious, generous portions, the best service I've had in a long time, absolutely loved it.

I know times are hard right now, but "coasting on Covid" is not ultimately going to make anything easier for the service industry. We tended to frequent SPK once or twice a week so we Skipped" it tonight and had it delivered. I would not feed what I received to my dog, threw it out and zero care was expressed when I called them up. When you re-open SPK can say goodbye to $3-500.00 a week permanently

Had the saffron ravioli sounded amazing but, I wouldn't recommend it. Service was good, so got an extra star for that.

Penne arabiatta everyday. Do not mistake this spk with the one in the south end. Completely different ownership and take on the menu. This is the right one for sure.

Food was good and fresh, though it took little longer than I expected for lunch. Restaurant was basically empty when we got there. Looked like they were going for higher end restaurant but it has papers on top of the table cloth. No idea why they would use paper on top of table cloth.

Pasta tasted great, the dining room is more on the fancy side but the staff give it this casual feel making everyone welcome and comfortable.

As if the South End location didn’t end up scaring me out of SPK for good.

Sunday night with grumbling stomachs led us downtown in need of some sustenance. First thought was to visit Jang again but they weren't open so our next closest spot was of course SPK Downtown. I mean being on Jasper for so long, it’s hard not to know how iconic and familiar SPK is. Offering more of a sophisticated dining experience with some traditional well rounded Italian dishes.

The space is dated, with exposed brick paired with white leather back cushions, dark wooden tables and chairs layered with white linen tablecloths dressed with white paper on top. The space was trying to feel formal and sophisticated but the detailing didn’t seem elevated. MUCH better compared to their south location though, so I’m fine.

Service was amazing, she knew her food and definitely knew her wine. She ended up suggesting the Murcatto wine, a white wine, ended up really enjoying how light this was. She was also diligent in coming by throughout the dinner for refills and clearing plates and dishes.diligent and friendly service.

Salsiccia - ($15) - Italian sausages with bell peppers and mushrooms mixed in with tomato sauce. I mean this was okay, the tomato sauce wasn’t as flavorful as I’d want it to be and the Italian sausages weren’t at all spicy.

Bruschetta - ($10) - Felt like the crostini could have been toasted a little more for more of a crunch.

Insalata Arugula - ($9) - Way waaaay too much dressing. Balsamic is already super strong and this was swimming in it. We probably had a few bites each and didn’t end up taking any of it home. Maybe just get it on the side or something but man, this was like balsamic shallot vinaigrette soup.

Manzo - ($38) - We ended up sharing this as our main, the 10oz grilled tenderloin was actually two slabs of 5oz placed on top of each other. Which worked out well for us. We asked for medium rare and it came out perfectly. This was a really good piece of meat. The porcini mushroom glaze was an awesome accompaniment, thick enough to coat each bite. The truffle oil roasted potatoes are another thing completely! Boiled and then pan fried I suppose making the outer corners crispy and beautifully browned while the inside was moist and creamy. Not each piece was consistent in getting the same sear though.

So, clearly between the two of us we over ordered. Ended up taking a bunch of it home for left overs and they heated up well, still tasted good the next day! Portions were huge, definitely didn't expect that much food but it seems like their dishes are meant to be more family style dining. So i’d say pretty good value. As for, would I recommend? Maybe just for the mains and a bottle of wine. Even with the friendly service and how delicious the manzo was, wouldn’t be enough for me to come back.

You haven’t had service until you’ve had Fernando service. YOU ARE THE BEST! I love coming here as much as I can. Fernando is AMAZING & so is the service. I could never say enough good things about spk, and Fernando in general. If he moved to a different restaurant I’d probably follow him. HES THAT GOOD.

Was decent food. Had Trauma happen to my face/jaw previous to my visit so I wasnt able to fully enjoy the meal, and ended up forgetting to grab our to go boxes when we left, but from what I was able to experience it was good food, decent atmosphere, our waitress was a little slow on the draw when she was serving us/coming around to check on everything. It made me feel rather uncomfortable when she kept staring at the bruises all over my face from the brutal and traumatic events that incurred a few days before. Made me want to recoil, hide and cover my face with the scarf I used to go out in public for weeks after it happened. But honestly cant blame anyone for staring, its shocking to see something like that. Anyway. Decent food, was quite expensive for 2 meals and 1 alcoholic drink, average $ for a plate is 30ish each. So dont expect to go here thinking you'll get a dinner on date night for under 100. Was a nice place all in all though! I'd go back:)

Went there for my mother's birthday. Was absolutely delighted with the ambiance, the service and of course, the food.
Would absolutely recommend if you're in the mood for something Italian.
We had gone on a Thursday and the place was relatively quiet (I'm sure that had to do with the frigid weather).
Would definitely go back. Can't believe it took me so long to try this place.

I had the Penne Arrabiata and wow, that was sooo good I can still taste it. The spices were perfect, not too much but just enough that it made your mouth a bit hot. The flavor I experienced was amazing! Even the chicken was tender and full of flavors. I would certainly recommend anyone to go and try this!

Waited 15 minutes to get a table when half the restaurant was empty and remained empty throughout our meal so it was obviously not due to reservations. Waited another 10 minutes to have a server approach us and had to specifically ask for water and bread since it wasn’t offered. Not once after the arrival of food did anyone come by to ask if everything was fine. Had to flag down a hostess to request boxes to pack up the remainder of our meal as server was uninterested.

The ONLY positive was the size of serving but again the meal was mediocre at best.

100% certain we will not return.

The food was amazing, I had the gnocchi which was to die for. This place is perfect for any special occasion, great atmosphere.

Had great service, and I thought the general atmosphere was lovely. However, the pasta was a little lacking despite the high price. Will be back to give it another try!
