We went to have dim sum, but the dim sum chef was off work. There aren't many to choose from. It is recommended to go during lunch time, the food is relatively complete.

When they served me and my friend they only gave us plates to eat on. In Chinese dining the plates are used for the bones which is so disgusting. I had to ask for them to bring out bowls to put on top of the plate. When I go with family they treat us with good service but when I go with a friend (who is white) they seem to neglect us more.

This is *the* place to go for authentic dim sum in Calgary. None of this buffet or order off the menu stuff - they bring everything around on carts and you select what you want.

The food is always amazing and the service is fast and efficient.

The masks have finally disappeared. Back to five stars.

I have been coming here for years with various members of my family and friends and I would have to say this Chinese/Dim Sum restaurant is definitely one of the top five in all of Calgary. It is usually fairly busy, especially on weekends. The dim sum is a little on the pricey side, but absolutely 100% worth it. I highly recommend you try Silver Dragon if you haven't already.

Not even worth one star. Wasn't told about pricing and bad experience for the service. Won't visit this restaurant anymore.

Absolutely wonderful place to eat. The food is delicious, served quick, and always a good temperature. (The pork buns are truly heavenly.) The wait staff is absolutely incredible, and went above and beyond for my family and my kids during our meal. They’re all super friendly, polite, and very attentive to their dining customers. If I ran out of my drink, someone was by to fill it within seconds. It was such a positive and happy atmosphere, and the restaurant itself is also gorgeous, very beautifully decorated. I will definitely go back, and I will recommend this place to everyone I know in the area.

September 2021- Update.

Back again as we cannot leave Calgary without visiting. Delicious as always. Egg tarts are to die for. Couldn't take any photos as the kids had to watch Netflix but trust me, this place is legit.

Just discovered this place last year. Only ever eaten the dim sum but I plan to try their dinner menu next. Dim sum is a tricky meal in Edmonton and Calgary. Most places taste exactly the same, mediocre, sometimes if you're lucky hot out of the kitchen. I almost wonder if these restaurants source out their food prep to the same facility and cook them in house.
I can safely say that Silver Dragon is by far my favorite dim sum restaurant on this side of the Pacific. They differ from the rest in many ways but I've noticed that they offer different varieties of sui mai, the egg tarts have a crispy crust and have perfectly steamed Gai lan all while being freshly delivered old school on the cart. I would happily drive from Edmonton just to eat here.

Terrible service! The counter staff makes me a really mad and uncomfortable. When I wanted to check the food the counter lady just gave me a recipe nothing explain. The food prices is not reasonable. I personally love Chinese food.but this is the worst Chinese restaurant in Calgary. I was disappointed.never ever comeback

Okay technically I am still eating. The pickled vegetables are stellar, the shrimp rolls are heaven-sent. Merci mes amies!

Terrible service! Right after walking in and waiting to be seated the lady at the counter did not even acknowledge us and kept adding up her receipts, because that is definitely more important that greeting and seating the customers. After waiting for a few minutes and having to ask her to be seated we finally were. When the food came out it was mediocre at best and priced ridiculously high for the very small portion sizes received. We ordered some food off the menu and out order sat on the table for 20 minutues after multiple severs had walked by. We finally had to ask someone to take our order. I would never recommend or return to this place again and anyone considering spending their money here should think twice!

Food is always good! They always try and they do accommodate any special requests! Silver Dragon is always our first choice when we want dim sum!

Been here many times throughout the years. The service is great. They changed their menus after covid and got rid of my dad's favourite dish. The server took her time in finding out what the dish was and got the kitchen to make it specifically for us! Very grateful for that dine in experience. Each dish is packed with lots of flavour. Our go to is the seafood on crispy chow mein, lobster, and soy chicken. Also the best ginger beef I've had so far.

We had a real good experience, food was great and very tasty. We had Dim Sum on Monday morning my spouse and my two kids and myself. They explained us with regards to the parking streetside as it was holiday, and very welcoming. The ladies who were serving the food were very helpful with the explanation and bring in the choices of foods. My love's the chicken feet and they brought him fresh ones and also the shrimp dumplings. Excellent service, food, and staff and very clean restaurant.

One of my favorite places for Sunday dim sum. Be sure to get there before 11, as it fills up verrrrrrry quickly.

Traditional Chinese dimsum restruant. They waiters speak manderine and Cantonese, would recommend for an authentic experience.

The most terrible Dim Sum experience in my life. I can't believe they put ginger on Shumai and the rice noodle roll is really awful. If the restaurant is located in Guangzhou where Dim Sum came from, this Sliver Dragon has been closed ten or more years ago. (Well, I am from Guangzhou)

The place is clean and the food is good quality, but expect a hefty bill at the end of your meal!

Love coming here for dim sum with the family on Sundays.
The carts come out quick but only from one side, so by the time it would reach our side it would be empty and locked though. Sometimes it wouldn’t even make it to our side.
Food itself is good and portions are decent. Pricing is typical of Calgary dim sum pricing.

We did have a misunderstanding at the front. We had put our name and number down for reservation, and someone claimed it. Hopefully they are a bit more careful with that in the future.

I'm not sure how these guys got so many awards or why they even have 4.2 stars because man was I disappointed. The only good thing was that their pricing was affordable, but I'd rather pay more for better quality. Maybe I'm spoiled because I'm from Montreal, but these dumpling seemed like they have been sitting in a freezer for weeks because they were anything but fresh. They also gave me a glass for beer that had something in it, seemed some food left over from the last back washing patron that used it. Anyways, I didn't even finish eating my food but at least it was cheap enough to cut my losses and save my stomach.

I have been wanting to go to the Dragon for awhile now and I finally did. The food was excellent and the staff where amazing. I loved the ginger beef it was so tasty. If you get a chance you should try them.

Very good experience. And the food is very nice. The waiter give us some good advice (recommendations) and it’s very quickly. Perfect!

Bathroom Review:

Clean and Utilitarian. Nice addition to include proper hand washing techniques for a post-COVID world!
Automatic proximity sensor dispenser for the hand towels make for a nice experience! Who wants to touch the roller spindles after washing hands!?

The big reason I don’t have 5 stars is because right-side urinal is fully exposed to dual sinks. Junk show is not my favourite.

Let me tell y'all something. My friends and I try to get down to Dim Sum every Sunday and we haven't been able to do so lately. Before I came here, my Calgary Dim Sum experience was like walking through a grey dream of melancholic limbo but since we started coming here we can't settle for less or ever go back.

The food is obviously delicious, particularly the grilled bacon & green onion crepe, BBQ the shrimp and roe pork dumplings and the baked sweet taro root rice cakes but what sets it apart is the friendliness and AWESOME efficiency of the staff, who are always kind to guests but also have got to know our group a bit better through the years as well.

I can't recommend this place enough, even compared to the great places in Vancouver, I think I still prefer Silver Dragon overall.

I've been here twice, once for dim sum, which was amazing, and the second time recently I ordered for pickup. The order was ready exactly on time, and it was delicious, I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking for a great Chinese restaurant in Calgary.

Food was mediocre and took 1/2 hour to arrive at the table.

We had to resort to takeout unfortunately after hearing about this place for many years. Definitely matched their reputation! Food seems to be quite authentic but still very tasty. We had ginger beef (probably the best I've ever had), Ha Gow (could have had millions of these.), fried rice, mapao tofu and Abalone in oyster sauce. Fish was surprisingly cold, but still tasted really good. Everything we had so far has been amazing. Definitely going back!

Exceptional Dim Sum today! Everything was fresh, hot and the carts just kept coming. Yes they have carts out again. So much variety! Super busy, line up out the door, but didn't wait too long for a table of 5. Definitely my favorite place to go! Highly recommend the lunch Dim Sum!

Ordered Shrimp and scallop dumplings, spare ribs in plum sauce, barbecue pork buns and egg tarts. All dishes were hot, fresh, and delicious. The spare ribs could have been a little meatier, and the plum sauce though delicious didn't taste very much like plums.
We ordered at the counter and our food was ready in 15 minutes. Can't comment on the table service because we couldn't dine in the restaurant. Would recommend.

I am so excited dine in is happening! Went to Silver Dragon today for Dim Sum.it never fails to make me happy. You have to order off the menu but the selection is awesome! Two of us ordered 6 dishes, and I had the most delectable desert, mango Pudding.to die fir! We even brought home leftovers. Highly recommended dim sum, so great! Staff are always at the ready & you get water & Jasmine tea as soon as you sit down.

The meal was bad. Worst lemon chicken I've ever had. The noodles were barely edible. Everything was overpriced. I don't recommend this place at all. I wish there was a zero star because that's what it deserves.

My go to spot for dim sum for years. Always fresh, and the quality is great. They have made covid 19 adjustments and no longer use cart service; however, that just means you get all your favorite dishes quicker by ordering directly from the dim sum menu.

Very rude on the phone. Hung up on me. Also waaaaaayyyyyyyy over priced. Literally twice the price as any other Chinese food restaurant in Calgary.

This is a decent restaurant but I feel it coasts on reputation a bit.

Food is enjoyable but not amazing. Prices have gotten a bit unreasonable for the portions. My last meal here after tax+tip came to $170 for 4 people, and none of us ordered drinks. Lots of dishes are $20 for fairly small portions of noodles and vegetables.

I'd probably even give this 2 stars but the service is always attentive and the venue is quite nice (good location and decor).

Excellent dishes. Plenty of staff to provide the most hospitable experience during covid. Tables have been removed to meet covid restriction which allows for a more open floorplan. A smartphone is required for entry; you have to scan the QR code and provide covid information prior to being seated.

They have made adjustments to how they deliver the food for safety. Though the quality remains the same and the service is great.

Most tender on the inside and crispy on the outside ginger beef I have ever had. This restaurant is always consistant and never disappoints and the meals are fantastic, the service is outstanding

Excellent dim sum place. Widest selection of Chinese dim sum but they were all very oily. Make sure you know about that. But staff was very, very friendly.at least for my table.

It's hard to believe that its rated a 4.1 with almost 1k reviews. Worst Chinese food I've ever had. Unfriendly servers and I understand if you have a hard time speaking English but you can at least smile a little. We sent the Golden chicken back and still got charged for it when it didn't even look edible. Will not be returning or recommending.

Came here over this past weekend and was highly disappointed with the food and service we got. We ordered four dishes (1 appy and 3 mains), and we could only stomach two of them. The bill came to almost $80 which is on the expensive side for the small portions we got.

Our server could barely communicate with us as the language barrier was very high. We asked about the chicken we were going to order and she assured us that it was what we thought. However, when we got the chicken it was just plain old chicken that was deep fried. No seasoning, no sauce, no flavor. We also asked what was special about the special chow mein and she couldnt communicate that to us either. The chow mein came to our table 20 minutes late because they forgot to cook it, and you could tell it was rushed. It was cold, the veggies were making it soggy. When she came by about 15 minutes later we told her to take the chicken back and it was disgusting, but we were still charged full price for our meal. I will never be coming back here and would warn everyone to be cautious as there are lots of 5 star reviews that seem fake.

Food is pricey! The server there wanted us to order expensive seafood and the chicken we order came so late and over cooked!

The restaurant is located in Calgary Chinatown. Serve varieties of Chinese cuisine and delicious sim sum at a reasonable price. Portions are generous and served by friendly courteous staff.

Consistently good dim sum. There are A LOT of shrimp dishes, so be careful not to over do the shrimp.

Old school Canton food where flavours arn't overwhelming. Prices are reasonable, esp when situated in downtown. Staff are multilingual and friendly during normal hours. But if you're going weekends, don't expect service as it's a Chinese restaurant, you should know what you're getting into. Their best food comes out weekends tho

Prices are the highest you will see of any Chinese restaurant in Calgary Example: $52.00! For a basic dinner for two, which most restaurants charge around $30.00 for. Service is also lacking, as has always been the case here.

I rated 4 because the foods were excellent even though there were no rice crepe left when we got there. The service is ok. The waitress spilled the sauce on my phone, gave us the wipes to clean by ourselves, yet still charged us 15% tip. I still like this place and will come back but hopefully that accident wont happen again.

Amazing selection and the price varies from option to option. If you get the chance try the steamed dumplings.

Servers weren't really friendly, and one of the server was almost rude to us.

Dishes were okay, but definitely has areas of improvement. The egg tarts' shell weren't really crispy, the rice in Lo Mai Gai was really hard, and etc.

Wouldn't come again.

I live in Edmonton and make trips down here all the time throughout the year because it's the best Chinese food my entire families had in their entire life we will sometimes literally just drive down for Chinese food and then head back to Edmonton.

The atmosphere in the place is always open you can hear the company you're with always a great place to go

Unfortunately last week we were their for the buffet. They were out of mixed vegetables and we asked for more and we were told that there was only 1 hour left and they wouldn't be putting any more out

Ordered from here tonight for my mom's birthday and we were all disappointed. Noodles were tasteless and oily, squid was soggy, and soup was almost slimy. $85.

Such a landmark for Chinese food downtown. I have been coming here for a long time and never had any issues. Great food (lots and lots of options!) and they have a large space if you are coming with large parties. Prices are a bit higher than some other similar restaurants but you will not be disappointed.

Great food and great service. Came here with my family on our holiday to Canada and we enjoyed the 6 person banquet. The food was perfect with authentic Cantonese taste. The food was worth it’s price as well. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Excellent food. All around a really good China Town experience. I went to a spa for services and then we can here for dinner. Glad we had left overs.

Got sick from the food. Never again.
Also my waitress had the worst breath, it was such a bad experience all around
