Just amazing peninsula surrounded by a large clean warm lake. Bring your bikes and kayak, this place is truly a must visit provincial park north of Edmonton. There are three main sandy beach on the peninsula and other access to some hidden gems.
A beautiful spot but a lack of enforcement. The site next to us all weekend had 3 vehicles parked in the site plus their trailer and a tent, there were definitely more than 6 people in the site, they set off fireworks late at night, they were very loud and noisy so we could not sit outside in the evenings, and we had to sit in our camper every night with our music on just to drown out their noise and had to get to sleep with earplugs in. Also, their vehicle horns would go off at random times day and early morning too. Just don't understand how some campers think they don't have to consider the rest of us campers here. Oh and 1 more thing.they were also burning deadfall in the firepit.
Excellent cabin experience! Clean and warm.all you could ask for in the winter! Driveway was plowed out, deck was shovelled and there were actual wine glasses to use! Definitely would stay here again!
We really enjoyed our stay in theur comfort cabins. Very clean and comfortable. Beautiful lake view front and at night beautiful stars and northern lights
Best I've been too yet in Canada. But the reason for a low rating is as follows. You can't have more than one unit per campsite without paying an extra fee. Or if their your direct family memeber. For instance son or daughter is fine. Brother or sister, forget it. It makes no sense. Quiet time like every Canadian campsite is 11pm.we might as well have stayed in the city and made as much noise in our own homes. What's the point of vacay if you're going to bed early? And the neighbors won't say anything to you. They run to head office for everything. There lakes were full of feces and blue algae so forget about swimming. I feel like everyone should have been given that notice and a chance for a refund before wasting their time. Overall very disappointed with my experience here. I hope future campsites will make it more adult friendly where we can enjoy ourselves at anytime if we so please.
Sir Winston Churchill Provincial Park is a beautiful campground BUT. The water has a pretty bad bluegreen algae problem. The swarms of mayflies are almost intolerable. AND.the combination of the dead mayflies in the water and the bluegreen algae mix together for this smell like nothing you've ever smelled before:/ Then the seagulls arrive to add to the mix. We were just steps from the beach and left our reservation early. The locals said you have to get there in the first 3 weeks if July to be able to enjoy it. We likely won't be returning: (
This Island campground is very pretty and has great walking trails. Lots of birds! Small store with some essential food, snacks and gear. Clean showers and flush toilets in the same building. Also pit toilets in the camping loops.
Great campground.tons of trails and places to walk. There's a few beaches so you can spread out if it's busy. Huge day use area with multiple "sites" to use. Beautiful for scenery. Lots of wildlife. They have a store and sell pops, ice cream, camping supplies, beach toys, etc, which is always a bonus. Town isn't too far which is convenient. They also have a couple playgrounds to entertain the kidlets.
2022 showed us terrible blue/green algae all over the lake so it made it hard to fish, swim or tube, but we managed. Also had warnings this year of fecal bacteria so the campground beach was recommended that it not be used. I would definitely double check those details, but otherwise a great provincial park!
This is a great place with lots to do. The camp sites are large, spacious and private with lots of trees and foliage around them. The campground and the rest of the park have many trails of various lengths, so if you like hiking, there are lots to do.
Staying in the comfort cabins has been phenomenal. Lakeviews and wildlife while having the "at home" feeling. Cabins are beautiful and exceedingly well maintained.
So far so good first time here and its a hit with us.i believe its to capacity and hardly a noise from a neighbor.seems like its well designed.will definitely be booking for future spots!
I saw a pelican fly by as I entered the park. Lovely. Lots of beaches, off-lake hiking, playgrounds and picnic areas. If you're looking for a family friendly woods by lake experience, this is great.
It's a great campground with lots of hiking trails, biking trails and you can put your kayak or canoe in the water from several camping sites. It's quiet and there are animals roaming through at various times if the day. Washrooms and showers were clean and open. We had a great stay!
Beautiful but, if there is an algae bloom it is quite stinky near the water. Watch for stinging nettle on trails and in sites. The spots aren't very wide. The park is beautiful. Better for tenting than campers. The sites are nice and private. Park store and staff are great.
I got caught on a severe thunderstorm and almost tornado while coming back after some amazing experience on the water. Quite honestly, I was terrified. But on top of that, I have seen the beauty! It remainded me of the days when I used to work on the sea. I want to go there again if there's a thunderstorm in forecast!
Great place for camping. Clean sites the lake is clean, Friendly staff, the ice cream from the store is unbelievable, a lot of trails & Lac La Bich is a clean town.
Impressed by the wheelchair accessable areas, even the beach. Camping after a severe sprain, my family had to walk me around in a wheelchair. I was also able to use a proper outfitted wheelchair shower where I could protect my injured foot. Thank you, Alberta Parks!
One of our favorite camp sites so far! Beautiful sites with lots of trees and being on an island is pretty cool lol. We will be camping here again for sure!
Beautiful campsite! With beaches, trails and great ice cream. Very sheltered from the wind. Warning to any boaters that the lake is low this year. The boat launch is a non issue but go slow across the lake as there was various spots in the middle of the lake as little as 3 feet. I found a rock bed (about a foot deep) between the two islands in the narrows. Have fun but be careful
The location and views are great. The bathrooms were clean and the icecream was delicious. Warning to those who do not like bugs. In the campsites it was fine, but by the beach and trails the swarms were a lot, like open your mouth and 10 bugs are down your throat. There are a few leeches in the water too if that makes you squeemish, but it was fine for us.
Great xc ski trails, serene setting. And year-round heated cabins that sleep 8! Having a great time capturing photos and stories about it for #SkiNorthAB
I love this place and their cozy cottages (tipi's not so spacious) still fairly wild and natural which is nice when camping. Sandy beaches and public life jackets, restrooms and parking make it great for kids
What am amazing place! The cabins are very clean, very nice and warm and the staff is extremely accommodating. I will definitely be booking a weekend here again!
Gorgeous provincial park that had old stands of trees. Lots of trails with clean day sites and campsites. Only unfortunate thing is the blue green algae that visits lac labiche every summer.
May be my favourite provincial campsite in Alberta (but I'm sure there are some great ones I haven't visited). What's not to like, it is situated on a peninsula jutting out into Lac la Biche. There are large, treed, spacious, private, fully serviced single campsites plus group sites. Facilities include a store, outhouses, indoor showers/washrooms, ampitheatre, children's playground, and pre-cut wood (for a fee). There are two sand beaches (one near the campsites and a larger one by the expansive Day Use Area. Maps show numerous walking trails, but do be cognizant of bear warnings. All this and just a ten minute drive to the town of Lac la Biche.
We went camping with a group for the first time and the experience was simply AMAZING it is a nice park and the kids love the beach, so nice to relax and forget about work and city noise. I would recommend to anyone looking to enjoy nature.
Comfort cabins at Winston Churchill Provincial Park are extremely clean and well provisioned with cutlery, plates, and all the essential kitchen implements. Each cabin is equipped with a natural gas barbecue that is situated so you can grill and take in the splendor of Lac la biche. The beds are comfortable and there are fans on hand that permit a cool sleep on those hot summer nights. After each stay, the staff sanitizes all of the kitchen utensils to ensure cleanliness as they bring in a completely different set of utensils.
There is a small store on site that sells toiletries, snacks and other odds and ends. In addition, you can purchase firewood (reasonably priced at $5 a bundle), rent canoes and get information regarding events going on at the nearby amphitheatre. Most of the cabins are surrounded by lush Saskatoon and raspberry bushes that provide berries for your morning pancakes. And although the cabins are lake front, there is a pretty steep slope that would hinder water access for anyone with mobility issues.
Some of the cabins here offer the opportunity to sleep in a tipi, in addition to the accommodations of the comfort cabin. These are also very clean and can comfortably sleep six people.
All in all, the comfort cabins are ideal for those who don't have an RV but want to camp with all the comforts of home.
Very good experience. The cabins are spacious, clean and very well decorated. The furniture is very good quality and very comfortable. The kitchen has all the tools and dishes you'll need. Every cabin has a BBQ with a gas line (no need to bring propane) and fire pit with a picnic table and benches. Views are beautiful. Picture and comments are based on a large cabin with two rooms and a futon.
We also had a tipi. The tipi we had had some minor leaks from the rain. But otherwise very comfortable. 4 single beds, BBQ, fire pit, private large washroom with shower, private kitchen complete with all tools and dishes. Exceptionally great experience and it's set up for a comfortable stay. Tipi has power, portable fan and heater.
Amazing park. Lots of trails. Great private sites. The road loops are small so the kids could explore safely. Lots of families. Will be going back earlier in the summer next time to beat the algee.
Very spacious and private camp sites. I liked that there was a walking path out the back of our site which lead to a major walking path that connected to the playground and the beach. What a view of the lake this campground provides. The washrooms were very clean and showers were nice and warm. There was a great selection of ice cream from the concession. The town is also a 10 minute drive away, if you need to restock on supplies. We will definitely be back to this campground (if we get lucky with the availability.it's a popular place!).
Winston Churchill park is a nice place to visit with a family. Located in front of the Lake, has a huge attractive camping area. Book a head of time to get spot on this location for camping. I used to visit the lake after work. Very nice place.
Spent an entire week here over the summer. Clean sites, great amenities, free hot showers, canoe rentals, large powered sites, close to town, really nice beach area. Just make sure to watch out for blue green algae advisory. This will turn the water into what looks like sewage. Other than that though, I'd highly recommend spending time here. It's a beautiful area.
