Skinny's Smoke House

Our 2 part review. My happy 2020 review first: What can I say. I like the interior, the atmosphere, and the food. However, my kids didnt like it at all. Hah. Too bad for them.this is my review. When they're old enough, they can make their own reviews.lol:). Today's 2023 Edit:
We just returned from a Mother's Day supper, super slow service, incomplete orders, small bugs in the air and a cockroach under our table! 100% Yuk!

AMAZING! Can’t wait to enjoy this place more often during my month long stay at the hotel across the road next month.

Heard the food was good.wanted to try it. Walked in but immediately noticed no one was there. Took 5 minutes for us to be noticed and seated by hostess. Waitress never acknowledged us. Finally just walked out. And there were only 3 tables with customers!
Terrible service!

The food was pretty good. They have changed a few of the menu items such as the tomato and cucumber salad. Which I personally did not like. I enjoyed the old style much better. But the meat was tasty, and the meal was overall enjoyable. Service was good but slow.

We hired skinny's to cater our wedding this year. We were originally working with the previous management and had a very good experience with them.

Unfortunately we were not aware that they changed management prior to our event and this lead to some hardships for us which affected our event and our guests' experience (as well as our own).

We reached out the week prior to the event and were still not told that the manager we were working with was no longer there. We didn't find out until the day of our event which was upsetting.

Due to reported communication breakdown during their switch over, our event infomarion was incorrect on their end and this lead to them being over an hour later to deliver and serve supper to us and our guests. This lead to rearranging  the evening to accommodate their lateness.

Guests also advised us that some of the food was cold and that they were told they had run out  of food when we actually had multiple large containers of left overs.

The individuals who delivered and set up the meal were unable to rectify the situation at that time. However we did follow up with the restaurant the next day. We didn't hear back right away and our concerns  were not  received well at first. It wasn't until we provided them our own documentation and corrected them on  multiple details that they were open to compensating us. We received somewhat of a refund but due to the hassle of everything up to that point we didn't feel it was worth it to push any further.

We strongly encourage customers to follow up and confirm every detail and to keep all of your receipts and emails to avoid a situation like we had as it caused a great deal of stress and it certainly disrupted our event. For future customers, these are important things to consider when looking into hiring them.

Wow! Absolutely delicious! I had chicken wings, pulled pork, house fries and potato salad. I'll be back. The Caesars are delicious also.

Ordered online from Skinny’s tonight. The menu stated we would get corn bread and pickles along with our meal. The meat arrives with half our meal missing. We call to inquire. They don’t know what is included in their meal packages. Then they call us back and tell us they won’t be delivering the food that was missing because they changed their menu yesterday and proceeded to hang up on us.

So much for supporting local.

Food was good, the beans were very good. Not a great atmosphere, other than 1 server, wait staff was cold and acted like I was an intruder to the party. There might have been 12, possibly 15 customers in at the time. Should have gone to the Keg across the street.

Loved the food and hospitality. The chicken sandwich was amazing. This was my first time in medicine hat and I am glad I came across this restaurant.

Very very impressed. We went for the 2x2 and the portion was huge! The food was hot and tastes very fresh. Service was also very good.

After waiting for an hour and half without receiving our food - we left. The reason we were told it was taking that long was because they had a table of 12. We were initially told about a delay and asked how long it would take. We were told 15 minutes.

We arrived at 6: 30pm and left at 8pm with nothing. Ordered drinks and asked for water as well. We received the drinks but no water. The restaurant itself wasn't all that busy, outside that table of 12.

It was as if we were not a priority (well, that's obvious considering we never received our food after an hour and 30 min) and the sole focus was on the table of 12. We were a table of 6.

Honestly, not a welcoming experience at all and, although I'm sure the food is decent, we were never updated on our order or asked if we were okay.

Went across the street to Boston Pizza, who ironically also had a table of 12, and was served within 20 minutes.

Normally it’s 5 stars. But this evening not so much. Took over an hour to get my order for take out. Maybe it was an off night.

Meal was good, service was great, but most likely will not go back. It is a principle thing I believe in giving a tip when deserved not because it is on the bill and I have to. Servers missed out on extra money as I am sure we would have all tipped more than the mandated rate. Tips are for service. Should not be part of the bill. Shame on management.

Ordered the 3 n 3 on my way through town, excellent food, good portions and friendly service, highly recommend!

This place smells like heaven, the receptionist was very polite and pleasant. Once I sat down, I was greeted by a blonde waitress who was so rude I couldn’t believe it. In the middle of my asking about the menu she walks away and when she comes back and asks me if I need more time. This was my first time there and I was looking forward to eating there. Once I seen her attitude with me, I told her I’m not eating here and that she is very rude. Unfortunately I missed out on a good meal. The manager should pick better people to work there.

Overall the food was tasty although personally I found the pulled pork a little dry. Also had takeout and tried a burnt end sandwhich for lunch the next day and again although the smoke was there it def wasn't fresh bbq. Maybe I just got spoiled from all the bbq I tried and experienced in Tulsa Ok area over the years while there for work.

They've upped their game again! Flavours were excellent. Good kids menu! Comes with a drink and ice cream!

I have been an avid supporter of Skinnys since its inception on Third in Medicine Hat. I applauded their creative approach to menu enhancements throughout the last couple of years during COVID and frequently purchased both for myself and as gifts the take and bake options. I believed in supporting local and always enjoyed the meals. In the past, i made a point of taking out of town visitors here proudly for a meal. I am disappointed at this point to have reached out via email, phone call as well as social media to the restaurant as I understand there has been a recent change in management, one that seems unwilling to appreciate past loyalty. I remain then less than impressed.my loyalty has been worthless and when I asked staff how to provide feedback I was directed to review.hmmm. I suppose you get what you ask for by times. I will choose to let my money do the talking and dine elsewhere.

A must on the list of places to eat in Medicine Hat! Prepare to be greeted by the delectable smokehouse smell as soon as you're in the parking lot, this restaurant had us smiling from start to finish. Nachos and brisket and sausage, oh my! The Nacho's were perfectly baked and the salsa was so good! The "caramelized burnt ends" blew us away, and the "three and three" was delightful. The star of it all was definitely the brisket. Highly recommend!

The service was great, but I will say I was a bit dissapointed in the food. It wasn't bad it just wasn't what I was expecting for everything that I heard about it.
