No question - Marie and her entire team at Skin Science are the BEST in the industry! Do yourself a favor and book a consultation (they are free). You will not regret it! Marie has a science background and years of experience treating the skin holistically, realistically, and ethically. Her approach is honest, unbiased (their staff does not make commission so they aren’t incentivized to sell you more) and supportive. As someone who works in the medical aesthetics field - I can say that Marie uses science and evidence based results to drive her work with her patients and she gets the best results because of it. Botox, fillers, and good quality skincare are great - but her treatments plans address the skin quality, breakdown of collagen, pigmentation, redness, hydration among so many other things; Consider it an insurance policy on the money you’re already spending on Botox or expensive products - it’s essential. I won’t ever look back.

As for Marie, she genuinely cares about her patients and her passion for skin health is evident the moment you meet her. I recommend her to friends, family, and patients often and will continue to do so.

I’ve been waiting some time to write a review because I want to do it justice. I have had such an incredible experience with Marie and her team. The atmosphere is so professional and welcoming. I was blown away by Maries intentionality and detail in her consultation with me. She truly wanted to understand what was going on with my skin. I have struggled with acne for 2-3 years now. The first two photos are my acne while I was still on acne medication and before I started at skin science. My face constantly hurt. This review is so long overdue! What can I say about Skin Science and Marie? Well, not enough. Marie, is nothing short of exceptional at what she does. I can honestly say that my skin has NEVER been as healthy and vibrant as it is now.

I have never felt pressured into any type of treatment or product like I had at other places. Marie, has her recommendations based on her expertise, educates and answers all my questions, and then ultimately, it has always been up to me to take the lead on my treatment plan. The products that she has shown as options for my skin and the ones I have chosen to use religiously have my skin looking and feeling amazing…to the point I get compliments on my skin often. It feels amazing, at almost 50 to leave my house free of any layer of concealer or foundation and let my natural skin show just how healthy and vibrant it looks on its own. Honestly, I have not met anyone like Marie or been to a place that has got my skin to the point where it is now…I love my skin!

I met Marie when she first started her business at the location on top of a Dermatology Center on MacLeod Trail. My, how she has grown since then. Her Microbiology Science Degree combined with her customer service, passion and deep knowledge of skin care and products is number one. I have gone to dermatologists since age 17 and went for facials at many spas over the years. I met Marie when I was 38 and I finally found a gem in the marketplace. Most places just sell products and wash your face.so stupid. She takes the time to know you and makes an appropriate assessment using medical knowledge and science. Her facial was amazing and I stopped seeing my dermatologist because her advice and technique was all I needed. She never talked me into anything expensive or more than what I truly needed for my skin type. Now over 15 years later I have still never met anyone in this industry who knows skin or facials (unless they are dermatologists) the way Marie does. I still use her product recommendations and have never needed "extra skin care work" beyond the original routines we agreed on. Marie is a true and authentic individual in an industry that is wrought with false and complete garbage information. Marie's team and products are amazing.

My skin didn’t look so great for years! My time at SkinScience was unlike anything I've ever experienced. Marie is an excellent and seasoned expert when it comes to skincare. Her molecular biology background really gives her a foot up when compared to other skincare professionals.

I started with a skin consultation, where Marie clearly explained and provided insight into my skin's health, my genetic background and areas to watch for. I felt as though I was treated with the utmost care and attention and I learned a lot. Something that is special about Marie is that she offers you personalized care and attention, always within your budget and can help you analyze which skincare products would be best for you based on your consultation. And it wasn't just her looking at my skin. I have darker skin, so there were SO many insights I got thanks to the technology Marie uses to see what exactly is happening under the surface.

I decided on a JetPeel Pro treatment at the clinic as well.and WOW! This treatment really blew me away. She's the only practitioner in Western Canada with this technology and it is revolutionary. First, we did some extractions, then Marie fired up her JetPeel Pro and we did a lymphatic drain - which completely changed the shape of my face and was extremely refreshing and relaxing. Non-invasive, calming and simple. Next on the JetPeel, there's an exfoliation that happens, and lastly, you get to choose infusions which penetrate deep in the skin and work long after you leave. This was TRULY unlike anything else I've ever had done. No pain, so quick, immediate results. We did a before and after and I was so shocked at how much happened with my skin.

So happy I decided to book a consultation here! I struggled with acne as a teen, took accutane and didn’t have acne for 10 years and then suddenly it all started coming back again. I was using dermatologist created products that weren’t making any difference. I got a consultation from Skin Science, bought the recommended products and have been using them for almost a year and have seen a substantial improvement in my skin overall! No more acne, smoother skin and a more even skin tone. Absolutely recommend, the staff and experience was great!

I had never sought professional help or care for my skin but as I approached my thirties I wanted some good education of anti aging skin care and to address my adult acne. I choose Marie and Skin science because of the type of consultation she offered: I would rather pay for an education only consult than have a free consult and be sold something! I did buy a few products at the end as I knew my skin care reputable needed some work, but I felt I was buying with confidence and not just throwing money blindly at the problem. With so many products and so much info out there it is so hard to know what to do and I got exactly what I needed from the skin consultation: knowledge! Marie is nothing short of a miracle worker. For a couple years, I was struggling with my skin. Finding the “right product” or the “right course of treatment” was excruciatingly painful. I was virtually giving full trust to whomever I was speaking to, given my lack of knowledge on skin care, this cost me a lot of time and money. When I came to Skinscience – all of that changed. I have been struggling with acne for over 10 years and have done accutane 2x but accutane never lasted long and the various tips and product lines out there never worked. On top of that I went to spas for facials to help my skin but nothing I did lasted a long period of time.

Meeting Maria has been a life changer for myself. The consultation was informative and I was also able to keep some of the products I was already using and with added products that were affordable.
After a couple of days of using products that were recommended by Maria, I saw a huge decrease in redness and less out breaks.
I have to say again it's been a life charger.
I will recommend anyone who is struggling with acne to book a consult with Maria. The 95$ fee is worth it!

They ruined my skin, plain and simple. I'm in my mid 20's and have very good skin overall. One of their employees performed an extraction on a cystic pimple and left an open gash on my face. She didn't steam it before hand or anything. It took a week to heal over and I missed two days of work because of it. A month later I looked a bit better and now after 8 months it's still the largest scar on my face and is about the size of a pea. I met with the lady who performed the extraction about a month later (as I had purchased a groupon package from them and still had one more dermabrasion) and she said it would most likely heal. It hasn't. They did give me a free skin peel after I emailed the owner with pictures taken. They would not, however, refund my money. The fact is, it didn't fix my scar and they made no effort to attempt to do so.

I even expressed concerns about getting the extraction but the employee assured me that it would heal up much quicker and better with an extraction. She didn't inform me that it would be a lasting scar on my otherwise great skin. I've had cyclic pimples much worse than that one, and they healed up fine leaving no noticeable scar after a while. I assumed that these were professionals that know how to handle skin. They certainly charge the price a professional facility would! I go to someone else now who is knowledgeable and a fraction of the price. I also get skin peels to help get rid of the scar. I would not recommend this place to anyone, ever.

***Update from 2018, my scars are still there. *** It's the worst scar on my face by far and will look even worse as I age. ***

Marie’s thoughtful and thorough approach to skin health was direct and genuine. For that, I am grateful. It’s truly changed the way I feel.

A little disappointed that the clinic will not do refunds. Other dermatologists I have bought products from have a return/refund policy when products don't work for a customer - I think this is important customer service, especially when products are so highly priced.

When I asked to return the product, the lady I had the consultation with told me that I liked the product when I tested it so she was surprised that I wanted to return it. This made me feel like she was accusing me of something which didn't exactly make me feel valued either.

I won't be returning to this clinic unfortunately.

There is nothing more difficult to deal with than problematic skin. I have spent the majority of my life suffering with breakouts, dermatitis, Stephen Johnson's Reaction, and everything else. For years I cried daily and did everything to hide my face. I tried every skin Center in YYC, every doctor, healer, etc. The compassion and genuine understanding I receive from Marie is absolutely outstanding. She customizes care for each client and explains absolutely everything to you. I have finally found my skin angel. Someone who will not give up on me. I recommend The Skin Science clinic to anyone who wants to work towards getting the skin they deserve.
