So, my review is a week old at this point, but I have not stopped thinking about the food I ate. I have been eating there since the 80's (original owner was soooo cute with rosie cheeks ha ha) once in a while, and had ordered multiple times during Covid because they took debit and I was eating kinda bad. Anyhow, I actually ordered this recent delivery, kinda as a pre-diet-last-meal before I worked off a few, and ordered the Dinner for one, A, plus some veggie rolls. After eating 1/3 of the Szechuan Beef, I picked up on a sudden, foul odor and immedietly smelled my shirts, pits, and all around me. When I figured out it was coming from my plate, I almost threw up, and I do not have a weak stomach. The beef was so foul, and I was in shock as it was obvious it was reused over and over. The vegetables seemed fresh, but the fried rice was also old, and the chicken was hard as a rock. I wanted to complain, but after I read other recent reviews, I figured they would not last long.
Hopefully now I stop obsessing about the Rotten food I paid 40$ for. *Disclaimer, I still ate the veggie spring rolls, and drank the Diet coke, and lost 7 pounds since lol.

I have been ordering from 82nd-Street Smilie's Place since the 80's, and the food has always been great.

I ordered during Covid, and received the worst food from this restaurant ever (until today).

I will never order from this place again after today.

I thought the food I had from here, was the worse when I ordered during Covid. (It was not, until today).

I called to ask (during Covid) why the food was not up to normal standards) they replied that supply issues are the problem. (I understood that).

But today, it was just bad food. (poorly cooked / prepared and seasoned) There is no excuse now.

Thank you for previous years of great food, but I will never order from here again.

Smilies in the west is now out of a bar of all places. They used to have their own restaurant in the west end just off 118 ave. They were good then.but now? Just gross. When we opened the bag we noticed bottom was caked in grease. The rice had a burnt oily taste. No traditional sweet and sour sauce was given. There was some kind of hard substance in the noodles. Im hoping it was some sort of husk from a vegetable. Overall it was a tasteless, greasy mess. My guess new management took over and its for the worse!

The personal repoire one builds with the ladies working there is awesome. By the 3rd time I visited this bar they remembered not only my face it my name as well.

We made an online order. Said it would be ready in 30 minutes. It wasn't even ready (much less even started) when we arrived 33 minutes later. Finally got our food. While it was hot, it was bland and tasteless with the exception of the schezeuan beef and sweet and sour sauce. We paid $100 for our food and we will not return. We only gave 2 stars because it was hot.

My review has changed since 6 years ago. The food is garbage and smells foul. I complained about food and the server tried to give me a discount. Not returned in 5 years and won't.

This used to be an excellent restaurant but when it changed hands (approximately 17 years ago) the quality went downhill and has continued to go downhill.

Very delicious food, and pretty cheap prices. Loved every bite. The beef with peapods and the chicken fried rice was so delicious that we feel we may have to order a second batch.

Decent joint, love the dry ribs, good fer a quick western Chinese food fix, definitely better of there but not bad.

By far the best peach shrimp I have had! Excellent ginger beef and everything was great! Large amount for the price! Will be ordering again and again lol

Only Reason You got 1 Star is because your delivery driver was nice and polite and the Fortune Cookies were good.
Online order thru Skio the Dishes late Last Saturday Night June 11th about 10pm
2 orders of Dry Garlic Ribs.either All Bone or Grissle hardly any actual meat.
1 order Special Fried Rice.tasted like it was made 1st thing in morning 1 order of Peaches and cream shrimp.just OK
1 order of Worwon Ton.it went into the Toilet because of our experience with the other food.

The last order I had delivered from here, 17 Dec, was so disgusting and vile that I ended up throwing the lot out on garbage day. What a waste of money. The shrimp had so much grease in it that it dripped all over the place when you bit into it. The first mouthful of chicken fried rice was so crunchy it was a clear indication that it WAS definitely NOT cooked properly. Some of the ginger beef was like chewing rubber. Over time I was telling family and friends how great their food was NOW I'll have to tell them to avoid this place all together. Like some others I'm not sure where they've gone wrong, but they have lost me as a customer. So, so disgusted.: (

Im not usually a fan of Chinese food and neither is my husband. But the couple dishes we do enjoy were amazing from this place! These picky customers are VERY pleased!

Worst Chinese food delivery. Was supposed to be free delivery over a certain amount- did not receive that.then was to be 10% off if paid with cash- didnt receive that. The delivery took over an hour and 15 mins which is way more than the quoted time so my boyfriend went to pay and didnt tip as generous as usual because of the issues- the delivery driver then told him he NEEDS MORE TIP.
Seriously a wasted experience

Been going to this restraunt since I was 6. I am now 21. Every time we go we are sat in the exact same spot. They remember us. And I'm sure they remember other customers as well. Great food.great service.
