Sobeys - Gaetz South

I had the absolute worst grocery shopping experience of my life here. Bought to rib steaks, a family pack of wings, and celery. Pay for it at self checkout as I see a female and male employees yapping away not doing their jobs. I'm walking out to my vehicle as the male runs out, saying I stole the food I just purchased. I said I paid for it, of which he said again I stole it. I produced a receipt, no apology, and he walks away. Now I'm infuriated by thus and go inside for a manager. The kid at the lotto desk tells me to calm down. Talk to the manager who does nothing. Is it policy to send a teenage kid to confront a customer in the parking lot? If I was a thief, what might have I done to this kid? Good work sobeys south where I spend 5000 a year at your stores. Not anymore. By by

A man and woman (both mid 50’s) at customer service desk were so busy gossiping about work, they couldn’t be bothered to acknowledge me waiting to pay. I went to the till the same time another customer went to till number one (beside it), and was still waiting to be helped when the other left.

Cashier at till one is ALWAYS professional and amazing. Maybe it’s time to put some employees to pasture.

Decent overall. Store is kept fairly clean, most employees are decent to work with, though a couple seem like they'd rather talk to their coworkers or play on their phones rather then run the registers. It's one of my favorite grocery stores.

I just quickly wanted to call out Owen, in produce. This young man was kind enough to stop what he was doing and offered to go check in the back for a certain item, and as it turned out they had more. His attitude and kindness did not go unnoticed by me! Thank you, you save me a trip to another store Owen ️

Extremely disappointed with their produce lately. Just bought two cartons of raspberries and both were moldy. Just had to throw out 8 bucks worth of fruit that I just bought yesterday. I can't afford to throw food away, especially overpriced food at Sobeys.
This store has really gone Downhill over the past couple of years. Will be taking my business elsewhere from now on

Tried to buy Nabob coffee here with a flyer price-match of other grocery stores in town. South Sobeys price $18.99, everyone else's $10. I was told by the young man at customer service that they DO NOT price match, ever, and that I should go back to the North Sobeys where they had price matched for me previously, but were out of stock.
Good to know.and good enough for me to not set foot in south Sobeys again. North Sobeys only from now on.

Fantastic place for gluten free products. Some items may be cheaper elsewhere but sobeys usually have their items stocked.

Best AAA Beef steaks we have found since moving south, even central AB you can’t beat AAA Sterling Beef. The butcher was friendly, helpful and cut our order perfectly. “Best steak in a long time” we common around the dinner table. Thanks The Ribeye’s had a beautiful cap fyi. Tender like braised beef.

Great selection. Excellent deli. 4 stars instead of 5 as the prices are higher in comparison to some other grocery stores.

Going to avoid from now on. Have had many items that were on “sale” only to be charged full price at the till. Also have to look closely at expiry dates have gotten home a few times where food was past by up to 15 days

Always clean, staff is courteous and good selection from the bakery, deli, ready to go food, pizzas and sushi.

Disappointed in how much fat is left on the steaks. 1/4 inch is what is supposed to be. At Sobeys North they were nicely done yet at sobeys south way too much fat! I retrimmed ine once I got home. Probable cost of excess fat would be appropriately 5.00 or more per package!

This is a gorgeous store, there's no doubt about it. I think my favorite on offer is Thiers deli and cooked goods area. There is a really nice array of prepared foods to take home that make mealtime simple and yummy. The stuffing thingies are so good and the cooked hams, found with the cooked chickens are delicious.
The only down side for me, are the high prices which make shopping there, a special occassion for me.

I normally have a decent experience at this location but I was embarrassed for the treatment I received tonight. I was shopping around 630 with my kid and had a full cart going through the check out. I was hardly greeted, rudely dismissed when I said I'd prefer paper bags and was given two boxes to fill and manage. I ended up having to box the items myself while the cashier tossed items down the lane at me and two other employees stood beside me chatting. Absolutely horrible experience this evening and I'm hoping no one else had to deal with that.

I bought some food here and I definitely left with some food! Great food purchasing station. I did however fund chicken wings to be $4/lb cheaper at co-op even though they were on sale here. The more you know!

Always shop here as they have the best gluten free bread and at a reasonable price.lots of selection.good produce

Huge gluten free selection, and friendly staff. Nice location. Nothing overly special about this store though, very standard Sobeys

This is My favourite grocery store to go to the prices are always fair and the store is always exceptionally clean, the staff is always amazingly helpful. If I ever have any questions someone is always there to answer them

Was going to give this location less starts until we met the cashier named Shinara. She knew we were having a difficult time due to our kids being out of control. She help us out so much and we are very grateful to her. Thank you for being patient with us and so friendly!

Top notch service and fresh goods from the produce to the bakery. Helpful friendly staff. Prices are higher than most places but you get superior service and goods.

Went in they’re for lunch today at 11 am, anyways I got soup (mushroom soup) and I was eating it, well half way threw I starting crunching on something hard so took it out quarter of beetle with its leg hanging out, so I went back tell him you got beetles in you’re soup, well they refunded me 4 bucks for soup, WOW you just made me eat a beetle and 4 bucks is giving back too me for the soup. Ridiculous they should bare minimum gave 25 dollar gift card, that is gross!

No more bags unless you buy their cloth bags. Got rid of paper bags. Got rid of plastic bags. I'd rather pay 5 cents for a bag than 4$.

The cashier's are friendly and efficient putting orders through the checkout.
There is always merchandise on the shelves and a good selection of fresh produce.
It has a salad bar and deli.
A good variety in the meat department.
I like the self checkout there.
It is wheelchair accessible and has a parking lot.

Has a good variety, greats sales and is usually very fresh. My only complaint is the size of the parking lot. It fills up and can be hard to get in and out of

I enjoy shopping at Sobeys because they have a good variety and I find the meat such as steak and roast to be very fresh. Go check it out. I think you will like it.

To a grocery store at 7: 30 and the doors are locked. They don’t open till 8. Ummm hello do we live in s small town? NO!

Great place to shop. Major supporter of the Special Olympics. Prices are a bit higher here than some of the other options in the city, but I’m pretty loyal.

They also have a great deli where you can get three premade subs for $9. Can’t beat that price when looking for a quick meal.

Everyone keeps telling me that Sobeys has the best cakes, so i got a Mario Kart one, for my son's birthday. It looked amazing and everyone loved it. Thank you.

I had a terrible experience here.

I bought garbage bags. I went to self check out. I scanned the garbage bags and a different price came up.so the lady and I walked back to where I got them.she was so rude.we scanned the price and it came back as the price that I thought it was.it was cheaper, so I was getting it for scanning code of practice. So the lady fixed it so I would get it as scanning code of practice. I thought she completed the order I was getting ready to walk out of the store and she's like you didn't finish your order. I was like Oh I thought you completed it.she's like no you need your receipt I'm like oh my goodness okay so I completed the order and she's like don't forget your receipt or you'll get stopped when you walk out. As she was right at the front door made me feel like I was stealing. Not impressed with the treatment I received from this store

For one of the smaller grocery stores in town they have a terrific selection of products and the store is always extremely clean. Love shopping at Sobeys.

No way for the elderly or disabled to shop. So many stores hàve scooters, but not here. Manager did not seem to care and advised me to shop elsewhere.

Love the specialty foods selection here. Loads of gluten free, dairy/lactose free & sugar free. Plus great, helpful staff. If the prices would go down it'd be great. Too expensive
