Sobeys - Strathcona Square

This is the worst run store I have ever been in. We live close by so we stop in now and then but we always seem to have issues. Today I waited about 10 minutes for a cashier but finally gave up, dumped my basket and left. The entire store layout is so poorly and inconveniently designed. The cash registers have no counter space to put anything down, instead there are carousels for hanging plastic grocery bags but they haven’t provided plastic bags for a number of years. I can’t imagine how you could do a major grocery run at this store with no counter space to put anything. The prices charged are often higher than the price marked on the aisle. I have seen “sale” prices that were higher than the regular price. Things that are on sale are often at or past the best before date. I could go on and on….

A little small and cramped, but the layout is unique and kind of a nice change from every other Sobeys.

I continue to shop here because I got no Covid hassles over masks etc etc The staff are nice and friendly.

It was a great experience at this location Sobeys! The store was not huge but it was very clean and organized! Most importantly, it has everything you need daily with an excellent customer service! I had an urgent order for a birthday cake, and the lady (sorry I forgot to get her name) from Bakery prioritized it and made one from scratch within 20 mins! Thank you! Will definitely come back and highly recommended!

I really like going to this store. The selection of foods is amazing and the lay out of the store makes it a pleasure to shop in.

False advertising, prime rib. Store clerk said to me. "we don't do prime rib these days. " My question is then why is it being advertiesd? Do better sobeys, this is a wealthy community and we deserve better.

Sobeys is a little smaller Safeway; very Canadian style store; you can't find a variety of Safeway there but most of the good products which you can find in Safeway there are. Very very polite employees even when you can see the tiredness in their faces. It has a relaxing and good environment and I always enjoy shopping there.

One of the cleanest, friendliest Supermarkets around. Great selection of produce including some local fare. Only downside is sometimes there is limited stock of popular products. Sobeys accepts Amex and is part of the Air Miles program so top marks for convenience and value.

Great layout and flow that encourages local and healthy food selection. Staff were friendly and aisles/shelves were stocked, clean, and organized. Not sure what else you could ask for!

Staff member in deli was wiping her eyes when I showed up. She went from her eyes to the gloves, messing with them until she got them on.

She should be very aware of the fact she can't touch the outside of the gloves with dirty hands. She is to wash her hands first then out on gloves.

If she doesn't want to do that, expect to gross out customers or infect them with whatever was bugging her eyes, either pink eye, covid, you name it.

I certainly don't need to accept that level of service, so I will head down the street to coop.

Baklava is beautiful. Not brown and burnt. Unfortunately other stores are selling the brown burnt ones and people don't know the difference between a good greenish white baklava and the brown burnt type.

Convenient and good location. It’s part of a strip mall with flower shops, pharmacy, alcohol, dentist, cannabis, spin shops, and Canada Post.

Only thing I like about this place is it's close to home. Prices suck and their paper bags are a joke. I much prefer the extra 5 minutes drive to Co-op instead, and then I also get compostable bags to reuse at home.

I worked there as a grocery clerk before. It was my first job. All the managers are very nice and friendly. A lot of hard work goes into keeping the store the way it looks. Best wishes everyone:)

Can find everything you need.warm atmosphere that you feel like you know every one.staffs are friendly and helpful.love their banana cakes.always fresh and yummy.try it, wont regret.

Very friendly, not crowded at 0930. Well stocked and some good sales. Plenty of parking as well.

Sobey’s website lied and said they were gonna be open till 9pm on New Year’s Eve. Wasted 10 minutes of my life driving there and back.

Love that this Sobeys carries Broxburn tomatoes.they are really the best! Love to see support of local farmers!

I love the atmosphere here, very chill, nature vibes because of the lighting and wood panelling displays. Easy to find what I need in the tidy aisles.

I dont like to see any location in Canada with one race people and exactly this is the case here. But still the quality is good for the shopping

This store is nice and clean and there was not alot of people there so I was very comfortable. The floor directional stickers were a bit confusing, at one point it didn't matter which way I went, I was going the wrong way. Other than that, I was happy to have a pleasant shopping experience.

They had a lot of stale products and products that are close to expiry date that sucked the buns we bought where having a good date but stale which makes me wonder if they just changed the expiry date hmmm

Love that you guys got rid of plastic bags, I just wish you would stop selling all of the large eggs in styrofoam packaging. Really bad for the environment

Not conscious about COVID. Staff leaned around the plexiglass to YELL at her colleague into my face while not wearing a mask. I had to step away from the till so I could stay safe. Staff aren't wearing masks, avoiding arrows and walking towards people, wiping things down without a mask means you then breath on it and re-contaminate it. I feel uncomfortable going here. NO ONE cares about customers as COVID cases are rising again. And This is WHY.

I have been shopping here for over 20 years and I love it. The staff are very kind and friendly

Saturday 7 am shopping is great. Only one other customer in the store. Shelves were stocked and the staff were cheerful. I notice grocery prices are up everywhere.

Does the job! The take out food options aren't always the best but the staff is always very friendly. Especially considering what 2020's been like I'm beyond impressed they've got such high morale (or at least can fake it super well!)

Great local grocery store with just enough ready made food to rescue a last minute meal. Large enough to carry everything, small enough to get through quick if you are picking up just a few things. Friendly staff and support for local community groups.

Due to the current pandemic I have been only shopping once a week and am shopping for my family, my parents, my husband's parents and a friend who is immuno-compromised. As such, I had a large order that required four separate payments. When I approached the till, the cashier looked at my very full cart and seemed annoyed about my large order and request to pay four times. I can understand that these are challenging times but I've shopped at other grocery stores in my neighborhood (Safeway, Save On) and their cashiers were much more friendly and happy to accommodate me.
Two stars for the store being nearly fully stocked, however, I will return to shopping elsewhere.

This place was (and still is) my to go for delicious cakes. However, recently, whenever I visit, they're out of real cream cakes and their other cakes are not worth the travel. Please make more real-cream cakes.

I'd give it a 5 star rating, but the cashier "covered" her cough with her hand (ie she coughed into her palm), and then continued to handle my groceries. Ack!

It's a grocery store, I generally start my rating metric at 5 stars until something comes up to dock stars.
And well its just a grocery store, nothing special about it above any other market. Good selection, decent pricing, not discount or boutique. Haven't had any bad experiences so no reason to dock any stars. If you live in the neighborhood, it's probably where you shop already.

Overpriced. Shelves are stocked and staff is friendly but prices are high. And now it seems important to push selling their bags and lecture shoppers on the evils of plastic bags.

I can usually find great deals on expiring or clearance foods here. The cheap sandwiches and in-store bread rack will save you money. Sometimes meat or fish is on sale but not nearly as often. The soups are lacking and have recently went out of stock, so minus one star for that. No plastic bags here, make sure you bring reusable bags and a separate, labelled bag for meat! Some clerks are particular here.

They have good prices and really good produce as long as you don't go on Sunday most of the produce has been bought. But still good.

The deli items are quite good. The salmon with herb sauce is honestly way better than it should be for something simple. Kids eat it up like candy.

So disappointed the store it’s self is fantastic, bakery not so much. I went in yesterday morning and ordered a cake for a birthday party I was having the next day. I went in to pick up the cake I “pre ordered “ and the same lady that took my order the day before had no idea what I was talking about! I was mortified.she grabbed a cake that Was what I wanted but wasn’t freshly made (I asked her “is it fresh” she said yes) I was so disappointed the inside was FROZEN. I was so embarrassed when my nephew couldn’t even cut through it!

I Don’t recommend this location at all! I would have rather just ordered from craves cupcakes!

Nice store, good stock, Great staff, fresh produce 95% of the time, reasonable sales. Like any Sobey's Safeway etc somethings are quite pricey compared to superstore etc. Justified for the convenience, etc.

Friendly staff, welcoming environment, engaging cashiers. However the staff doesn't have as much knowledge as they should. Had a few problems finding a few things. Overall pretty good experience.
