Dr. Speidel was extremely professional throughout my appointment. As a patient who experiences anxiety over the Dentist, I would recommend him. He was efficient, knowledgeable and put me at ease right away.

I have been a patient at SFD for about 6 years now and in that time I have been extra billed for services that I asked to ensure that were covered by my health plan and twice now they have billed me for a portion of the work that they performed on me and I asked twice each time to ensure that they only do work that was covered by my healthcare plan and charged my credit card for that extra work that was done by them and was not covered by my healthcare plan. So I will never set foot inside the office again and I strongly recommend that you get your dental work done somewhere else because they can’t manage to ensure that work that is done is covered or at least I am informed that I will be billed for the work.
So I’m not going to be going back there and there are plenty of other dental offices in the area that perform only the work that you have coverage for.

Very poor quality of service. Also, they cancel appointments abruptly without our confirmation. The staff and manager were rude and disconnected the call by saying ‘that’s it’. Make sure you won’t share any credit card details, they will detect the money with no permission when you don’t confirm the cancellation. Fraud company. Threatened us come and have the service else we don’t return the money.

Great place to go for dental work, everyone is super friendly and they are very thorough and pay close attention to detail. I would recommend them to anyone needing any dental work from a cleaning to major orthodontics.

The staff were all very professional and I was super satisfied with the service from the hygienist named Shannon, she’s very gentle yet she’s able to clean the innermost and hard to reach part.

Update: Had a molar pulled today too and it was quick and easy. Dentist was chatty, laughy and very funny/nice. Well done

Newest update: Had a molar filled, need a crown started and now a wisdom tooth taken out. I spend more money here then I do on my mortgage yearly but it’s well worth it!

My family have been going to Dr. Sharma for many years now and every time we get great service. The staff are amazing.

The staff from the receptionist to the doctors are all very sweet and welcoming! They were very prompt in addressing my issues whether it was billing related or tooth.

Everyone at South Family Dental is kind and helpful. I went in because a filling had chipped out. They worked with my scheduling needs and insurance to come up with a solution. I find their office and staff to be quite calming - I seriously could take a nap, if I didn't think they would be concerned I had passed out (haha). Thanks for the care everyone!

A wonderful dental clinic. Dr. Sharma is so quick and knowledgeable. The front counter staff are always super knowledgeable about insurance and bookings.

I've always had an issue with dentists.probably stems from a time when I was in my teens and went to one that was brutal on my teeth. From that time on, I have had a only a few interactions with dentists—not as bad, but still rough and painful at times.

Then I found South Family Dental. I have been there more times than I had been to a dentist in over 20 years. Why? I was relaxed and no pain. Big in my books. The staff are awesome and personable. Dr. Sharma is gentle, patient and thorough. I have no issues now with going to the dentist. I don't even claw up the arm rests while they work on me. If you are looking for a change and want to shed the tension, South Family Dental is the place to go.

I wouldn't recommend this place.went for cleaning for my wife and ended up with more than $500 invoice for a basic cleaning not sure why they have to take so many x rays and bill it under different code based on dental code there is no need to take that many x rays ended up paying from my pocket. Not going there anymore

This place is open on Saturday’s so we don’t have to take time off as much for appointments. The staff are super nice and accommodating.

Had a hygiene appointment today and it was great, had beth and she was great at what she does.had a great time and very comfortable visit.

(Note that this is a review I meant to post some time ago, and I forgot to click "post") Dr. Sharma did superb dental work for me. I could not be more thrilled with how my teeth turned out. She explained what she was doing and put me at ease, and the results were better than I could have hoped!

Her assistant Sabrina was fabulous at her job, as well as kind and relaxed. That helped me to calm down and trust what was going on.

South Family Dental follows the Alberta Dental Fee Guide, which helps us immensely with our dental insurance coverage.

I was in Saturday and only got half of the appointment I booked. Had to come back again to get rest of appointment done. As an added bonus they were behind so I got to sit in the waiting room an extra 20 minutes. Not impressed.

Friendly, knowledgeable staff in the front office. Dr Headley has performed wisdom tooth extractions and dental implant surgery for our adult student kids and the experience was uneventful and not traumatic. We are happy with this dental office in our neighbourhood.

Best dental office I’ve been to. Never have to wait past my appointment time, flawless payment system putting through insurance.
I truly feel like they care about me as a person and never pressure me into needing more work or spending more money.
I tell everyone I know to go here!

I was scheduled for a regular cleaning and check up (my first with this clinic) but I injured my jaw a few weeks beforehand. They worked with me to help me keep my cleaning for the day I had scheduled (used a spacer to help me rest my jaw) and were so helpful with recommendations and referrals so that I can get better soon! The staff were friendly and professional and both quick and thorough. It was close to home which is why I picked them but I’m so glad I did!

Staff are super nice -Shannon -my hygienist was so good - I didn’t feel any pain at all- my mouth felt very clean after my appointment. I have been going at this clinic for at least 8 yrs and never felt disappointed. They are very accommodating when you need an emergency visit!

My kids had their first appointments at South Family Dental yesterday and we had such a great experience. The front staff are all friendly and helpful - not to mention booking in the first place was super easy and seamless (thanks Courtney!)
Both my kiddos had Sabrina for their X-rays and cleanings, she was fantastic! Dr. Sharma is also great, very knowledgeable, honest and transparent which I love. I’m so happy we found our new dental office!

Like others, my problems with this clinic are with the front end. The dentist and hygienists are great and have done a great job on my teeth. However, I have had charges added to my credit card weeks after an appointment. When I call to follow up, I’m told they “forgot” something or the lab fees were more than estimated. Yesterday, after not even being there for almost a year, I received an treatment plan estimate from my insurance company for a crown. Needless to say, I have notified my insurance company that there is no crown in my future with this clinic. Confidentiality is also a concern. I was given COVID forms to fill out when I was last there. When I handed them to the person at the front desk, she put the clipboard on the counter and forgot about it. It stayed there out in the open for anyone to see. I had to point it out to her when I was called in for my appointment. Only then did she put it out of sight.

First visit for exam went well, got prices, was told when I got prices that I’d only be paying the 20% that my insurance doesn’t cover, got a root canal. When I was done I had to lay the full amount and insurance will reimburse the rest.very frustrating.

Just moved to the area and figured it was time to find a dentist, I spoke with Courtney at the front desk and she was awesome. She had my insurance all worked out before I even showed up. Chris did my cleaning and x rays and he was fast, funny and managed to not jab me in the gums. Courtney then booked me in for a follow up and offered to get an estimate from insurance beforehand so that I know exactly how much I have to pay out of pocket. I'm not one that usually keeps regular appointments at the dentist but if I can continue to deal with these two that will change.

First time customer to this place, I had my teeth cleaned, the reception was very friendly especially Courtney, who helped me really well and did remind me of my appointment many times to make sure I don’t forget. Well explained things with me and get the things I need as soon as possible she can, very helpful. For cleaning my teeth, thanks to Shannon, very approachable and friendly hygienist blends in very well and ask you every time she makes a move for cleaning your teeth if I’m comfortable with it. Thank you guys all!

Courtney at the front desk is consistently friendly, kind, professional, and helpful. She and Carol offered to help me with submitting expenses to my benefits which was a huge relief. This service is very important and valuable to me. Also, Dr. Sharma is always great.

We have been seeing Dr. Sharma for 5+ years. She’s knowledgeable and skilled at her profession and is always kind and professional. We have had several challenges with the admin staff and billing, customer service and professionalism has been absent several times. The experiences definitely have left us questioning if we should continue to use the services. We do need to highlight Courtney, as she stands out from some members of their team, for her attentive, friendly, knowledgeable and service oriented nature. She definitely turned around a couple of unpleasant dealings and all her efforts were appreciated.

South Family Dental is amazing! The receptionist is very friendly & Shannon made me feel very comfortable & relaxed during my procedure.

I am a recent patient there and find them very pushy like going threw the drive threw for an oil change upsell upsell. Calls to come back for more work are annoying, and i haven't needed a filling in 20 years, now i do but shouldn't i feel a pain or something. I will go elsewhere lots of dentists in the city. Lastly what i find interesting in the negative replies, the people aren't on file.that is weird. Like people go around and give bad reviews on dentists randomly.ok. And the reviews not sure which ones i read when i moved in the area to choose this place, but sure I'm glad some of these complaints aren't me. You all have a great day.

I have never liked going to the dentist but since starting with South Family Dental I haven’t dreaded it one bit. The hygienists are wonderful and friendly, as well as the front staff, and Dr. Sharma is amazing as well. If you are looking for a dentist in the SE I highly recommend them!

I visited the South Calgary dental office recently, and I was treated with atmost respect. My dental hygienist, Shannon, was very attentive and she addressed all my concerns. For the first time, I wished all other hygienists I had visited were as professional and attentive as her. The experience was like non-other dental offices. Also, Dr. Sharma, the Dentist, was very approachable and professional. Her explanations were encouraging and accomodating of my wishes. Lastly, I want to give Sharon, the receptionist, a shout-out for providing exceptional customer service, reaching out to my insurance, and being flexible with booking my appointments.

So disappointed today, this so called dental office put a crack on my tooth during a filling procedure and won't even own up to their mistake instead I'm being asked to cough out $1700. So terrible people, you'll be hearing from my Lawyer soon.

Too much hard selling for extra services. Every visit for routine cleaning they keep asking me to remove my remaining wisdom tooth. It NEVER had bothered me ever. I always say NO but they keep asking me. So I am choosing another dental office.

Another impersonal dentist who sees patients as money bags.

Dr. Sharma is always in a rush and seems to randomly pick out work to do and breeze out. They keep you waiting even if you come on time and when I got sick and called to cancel my appointment they charged me a no-show fee, despite the thousands in dental fees I paid for work they did.

Payment is a pain because they always sort out the payment method after your appointment, no matter how frozen you are or how many times you've told them before.

The only good thing is the staff who do the cleanings and xrays are very gentle.

If you are looking for an honest dentist.look somewhere else!

This office is terrible. We have been patients for here for years, and have had repeated issues with receiving bills or charges to our credit cards, without any notice or explanation, well after appointments. The staff is unhelpful at all times. Today again, we received a charge of over $50 on our credit card, with no explanation, no invoice, nothing. Our family's last appointment at this office was a month ago. The outstanding balance was paid at the time of the appointment, and then this happens. My wife drove to the office, to have staff literally pull the door closed and lock her out when she questioned the charges on the credit card, saying "just email us! ". This isn't the first time that this has happened either. We fought with them for weeks, previously. And only after weeks of arguing with their administration staff did they finally admit their error and refund the charges. We gave them another chance, and then this happened. If you're looking for a dentist in Calgary, this office is without a doubt the bottom of the barrel. I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. We will not be patients here any longer. And for the South Family Dental administration and ownership - you know how to contact us. You had best resolve this promptly. We will be making a complaint to the Alberta Dental Association and College, as well as filing a lawsuit in small claims court.

I wrote a very negative review previously due to a very bad experience at this office. However, the office manager has since reached out to me and ameliorated the problem. I have still had a couple bad encounters with the office staff over the years so I cannot give a perfect review, but my specific problem with this office has since been resolved.

Just switched to SFD from another dentist, and I'm super happy with them. Direct billing, follow the Alberta fee guide and they do good work. Got my fillings done and they feel great.
