Bought a 2018 Golf a few years ago from Stephanie Blundon. The car was in good condition, used but low mileage, other than some pretty significant scratches/dents on one of the rear quarter panels. I asked if they would fix it and they responded that they would without hesitation. I also asked for a trickle charger to be installed as the Golf’s block can’t facilitate a block heater. Again, they said no problem. I got both the repairs and the trickle charger agreement in writing.

When I went to pay for the car, I took a look under the hood and there was no trickle charger. I asked Stephanie about this and she stated that they “had no budget left on the car so they couldn’t install one”. However, she made no prior mention of this so it was clear that they fully intended not to install one and had no intention of telling me, even though I had it in writing. At this point, I was just frustrated so I told her I wasn’t interested if they weren’t going to hold up a deal that they had literally put in writing. After some push back, she had the trickle charger installed.

I ended up purchasing the car and Stephanie asked multiple times for me to leave her a 5 star review. I wasn’t pleased with the service (she also made some snarky comments throughout the process) so I decided to just leave it rather than writing any review.

Flash forward to a few years later (just a few weeks ago), I notice that the panel they had repaired has some paint chips that are starting to rust by the wheel well, which I thought was odd. I took it into a reputable local body shop and they explained that the dealership had done a terrible, cheap, 1 paint coat repair job. They hadn’t even painted the entire panel as the body shop owner pointed out that you could clearly see the blend line. He let me know that with a terrible quality repair like this so close to the wheel, this kind of chipping/rusting was inevitable. The car only has 75,000km so I didn’t want to let it rust out. The repair ended up costing me a whopping $2,100 because rust repair isn’t cheap. Buyer beware on my end, I suppose, but I would expect a dealership to at least invest in at least a somewhat decent quality repair job on their own vehicles.

Would recommend anyone to avoid this dealership and avoid Stephanie in particular if you’re looking for quality work or anything beyond completely ingenuine “customer service”.

I negotiated an all inclusive price on a new 2023 Taos with Kaushik Beeharry for a vehicle that was en route and put a deposit down. My vehicle arrived within 2 weeks before school started up and he honoured the deal we had agreed to. Kaushik was very pleasant and great to work with. No pushy salesman here and he delivered within our tight timeline! Super happy with my Taos! It's very fuel efficient, I've only filled it twice in almost 2 months of driving to work (40km return trip)! Last tank fill was 57 dollars. I'm loving the heated seats and steering wheel. Super roomy. Very responsive. Fun drive. Exactly what we were looking for!

It's a dealership- what can I say? You have to fit their system or else. No prior info given or appropriate questions asked when appointments are set. Very cool and condescending service manager. Thank heavens for Rod, their Shuttlebus Operator. He's very warm and helpful and he beats using maps! Does he ever know this town.

Recently purchased a vehicle from Southgate Volkswagen, Steve and Norvin were great sales advisors, i never felt pressured into buying, i was able to take it over night to get a feel for it before making my decision, had my mechanic do a quick inspection to before purchasing and only one thing was missed and they fixed it and had it done the following day. All in all great place to get a vehicle if your looking. One thing i feel they could have in their dealership is a nice coffee machine but thats my preference lol.

My wife and recently a 2022 Jetta GLI and we loved the purchase. Dan Heller was our sales guy and he was great to deal with. No pressure sales and he knows the cars inside and out. When I have any future purchases I will be seeking Dan out. Overall it was a great experience! And I will recommend you to see Dan.

Dan was absolutely amazing after having a few bad experiences at other car dealerships in Edmonton I hesitatant about looking at another car scared I would get the same outcome. Dan was not pushy at all just overall a great guy! He gave me all the information I needed when buying my first car highly recommend if anyone is looking for a car go see Dan you won’t regret it!

I cannot say enough good things about our experience buying a 2020 Passat at Southgate VW. The staff we worked with (Don, Stephanie, and Terrance) are amazing and most importantly everything was transparent. We were shown the total price up front—not just the bi-weekly payments. There were no last minute upsells or hidden fees. We would buy from them again in a heartbeat.

Stephanie helped me out looking at a sweet Golf R they have (had) in stock! I didn't end up buying it, but her response time and attitude was a great thing to see. She was a huge help and definitely someone I'd recommend talking to if you're in the market for a new car!

Zero ethics, GM can't be bothered to respond to me. Claims he's never heard of free oil changes being included with a car purchase, won't honour it even though I have it in writing. Treated me with zero respect the one time I could get him on the phone.

Finance couldn't be bothered to get my proper info on the paperwork when I asked him to fix it. Wasn't told until after everything was finalized that there was no spare key.

Dan was great during purchase but zero response from him either when everything went wrong. After all that, they had the nerve to ask for referrals and a 5 star rating.

Everyone's happy.at first. Looking forward to not being a customer in the future. Had some good experiences however the negative experiences out weigh the good.
Been lied to several times about service and parts.
DO NOT GET THE COMPLIMENTARY WASH, either end up dirtier than before, scratches or dents after the fact. Likely someone's son or daughter working for the season. Good luck getting someone to address that.
Recommended a few friends go here, 4 of which ended up purchasing a vehicle, now I feel like a jerk as they all have moved on or looking to move on for similar and different reasons.
Ironically their sales department seems to be the most pleasant of experiences.

This place is fantastic. Stephanie helped me get the exact vehicle I was looking for, and made it quick and easy. She gave me exactly was I was asking for my trade in value. I was helped by Terence to get the financial plan I was looking for and both of them went above and beyond to meet my needs and expectations. Not only did they secure me driving my new Volkswagen Golf for the remaining term, but quite possibly for many terms in the future! Thanks guys.

I recently moved to Edmonton and was stranded at the Windermere Scotiabank location due to battery problems with my vehicle. I contacted so many places to see about getting a battery replacement for my vehicle and due to it being the weekend, there was a higher than normal volume of calls with minimal technicians working. Totally understandable, I contacted the southgate location and all the while I was speaking to staff members that were amazing and genuinely cared about my situation. Erik in particular took the time out of his busy day to help my family by coming to us to replace the battery. By doing I didn't have to worry about our vehicle stopping before reaching them. Erik took the time to help answer all my questions. To the team at the southgate location, if it wasn't for your excellent customer service and knowledgeable team members I would not be be able to make my trip tomorrow.

Without any intention of buying a Volkswagen vehicle we sure changed our mind! From the very friendly and helpful salesman, Dan. Service was great, not pushy at all. Then we took a test drive, it was the best ride down that bumpy road where we have taken other vehicles. Also to know that the Tiguan which we ended up purchasing has the best safety rating on the market.

I spent several weeks doing research into what my next vehicle would be. When I finally narrowed my choice to two, I went to their respective dealerships to talk to the sales team and do second test drives. The first dealership I went to (where I'd purchased my previous vehicle and had an excellent experience) was an utter disappointment. The sales person was inaccurate in what he said of the vehicle, even when prompted with facts I knew from the spec sheets and manufacturer's website I'd been pouring over. The vehicle was great and did fit what I was looking for, but it was such a close tie for me with VW that the failures of the salesperson were enough to turn me off of the brand.

Enter Jackson at Southgate. He contacted me after I'd submitted an online request for information. When I got to the dealership, he was friendly, patient, knowledgeable, and honest about vehicle features. He took the time to investigate random things I asked when he wasn't certain of the answer and left me feeling like he wasn't just saying whatever I wanted to hear. While I went in fairly certain of what I wanted, he helped seal the deal for me with his professionalism and willingness to help.
After signing the initial paperwork, I had the pleasure of dealing with Nicky in finance. In spite of how daunting all of the finance related conversations can be, Nicky was exceptionally easy to talk to and understanding when I sat and stared at the numbers deciding which way to go.

When it comes time to purchase a vehicle, I would recommend these guys to anyone I know. The experience was fun and exciting, and I am in LOVE with my new VW.

When you feel no shame put a car wash complete on the work order. Please make it a little better to prove me at least you tried. Every time I bring my vehicle in for some issues it’s either not covered by warranty or faults can’t be duplicated. Same issue back to Sherwood VW fixed and covered by warranty and found out the did the wrong diagnosis. Terrible service terrible mechanic. I have no more patience left for this place. The worst in the town. Shouldn’t even consider it on the list for doing your services or any kind of maintenance.

After years of not having a vehicle payment I was nervous about taking one on. I came in to Southgate vw with a firm budget and list of wants. Jackson was great - he didn’t show me anything outside of my budget and listened to what I actually wanted. There was no pressure, and I felt very comfortable with the entire process. Nicky in the finance department was efficient and knowledgeable. Overall, I’ve never had a more enjoyable car buying experience and I can’t recommend these guys enough! Thank you!

My wife and I recently purchased a Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport from Southgate Volkswagen and we are both extremely happy with the service and experience we had with our sales specialist Dan Heller and sales manager Don Gray. I had conducted an extensive price comparison between this dealership and other Volkswagen dealerships in Edmonton, Sherwood Park, Calgary and Grande Prairie and found this Dealership to be the most straight forward, fair, best to negotiate with and free of high pressure sales tactics. I would highly recommend this dealership in general and Dan Heller and Don Gray in particular if looking for a VW.

Was looking for a very specific car and was having issues with other dealerships giving me the run around and trying to sell me vehicles I wasn’t interested in. I found a car on Southgate VW’s site that I was very interested in. I was contacted by Dan and Terence who were both very professional, not pushy, and extremely helpful. Between initial contact to getting my keys and driving off the lot was the smoothest purchase I’ve ever made. These two gentlemen are your go-to when you are looking for a vehicle if you are wanting great customer service and professionalism. Thanks again guys!

They're helpful but it seems like everytime I go there they're trying to squeeze money out of me for one thing or another. I'm also not happy because of all the cars I've owned in my lifetime - both old and new, none of them have given me as many issues as a Volkswagen has.

I received a recall notice in regards to my Beetle, contacted the service department to schedule it. The service coordinator was unpleasant to book with and seemed very upset when I double check they were open Easter Monday (I mentioned it was a holiday as that day was offered as an appointment and was told that, "Yeah, it's not for us and we're actually ope.n" in an aggravated tone.) I then asked how long was needed for the repair and was quoted 1.5 total hours for both the repair and for the oil change to be completed, as well as an investigation into an electrical issue.

When I brought my vehicle in, I found out that the vehicle was actually scheduled for 4 hours as there were multiple recalls. The tech was surprised I didn't know and hadn't been informed. This turned into an overnight appointment which happens due to parts and this part was well communicated. When I picked up my vehicle, I was informed they had found the issue to my electrical problem and fixed it. What I wasn't told was that fixing the issue involved unplugging my car starter and not notifying me. When I finally reached the service department to question whether the "fix" was disconnecting my starter the service agent told me yeah, that's how they fixed it. I asked why I wasn't informed and got an oh well you should have been and when I pressed further was finally told they believe the car starter needs to be replaced and sorry you weren't told that. Overall, fairly disappointed with this location as I've had great service at other VW's.

I had the worst experience at this dealership’s Service Department yesterday. If my vehicle hadn’t just ran out of warranty I would have traded in my vehicle at a different dealership and never returned to VW. Great product, terrible service.

I called a week ago, I booked my car in for a service, I confirmed the price - which I wrote down and put in my phone. Then I had something else happen and I called to see if they could do the service (installing a piece of vent glass) while they did the other service. I was told they had to order the part and I had to pay for that part up front and they would install it. *minor annoyance is that they wouldn’t take a credit card over the phone (I’m told this is because of fraud) but it’s still annoying as a consumer.

I get to my appointment at 930. The service person is going over the cost of the service I booked which is now different than what the person on the phone told me. VW comps the price to what I was told on the phone. Fine. But when I call for a price, VW should be telling me what the ENTIRE cost of the booking. I proceed to say well you guys are supposed to also install a piece of glass that was ordered last week. There’s no notes about this. Fine. I expected my service to be a total of about 3 hours, that’s what I was told when I called - including the glass install. After an hour I asked if there was a courtesy vehicle - which I didn’t not book in advance - I was told there might be. After a while one became available and I was then told the part that should have been ordered a week ago, wasn’t in yet. I confirmed that this would be done by the end of the day and was told yes.

I go back to the dealership at 330 because nobody had called me and I figured I’d just wait there for an hour, no big deal. Then I’m told that my car isn’t at the dealer because VW’s third party is installing the glass and now it’s a bigger job than they thought it would be because they have to take the door off. This is where my major problems come in:

1. I told VW when I booked the service what happened with the glass. I told them it was shattered I received the following response on the phone: well depending on your vehicle we might have to take the door off. My answer was: can I just tell you the type of vehicle? VW response: we know what the vehicle is. So I gave them all the information when I booked it.

2. NOBODY AT VW told me they were going to get a 3rd party to replace the glass. Had I known that I would have went elsewhere and simply ordered the part from VW; because when I called the third party glass installer they told me it was a dealer part. Sure they added a service that I had booked for a different day to this catastrophe, at a slightly lower price but to me, that’s not good enough.

3. NOBODY at VW told me that this was going to be a multi day project. Because now I don’t get my vehicle back until Monday. AND because VW had, without informing me, sent my car else where to get repaired - I didn’t even have my house keys. So then I had to drive an hour round trip to get my spare keys. So sure, I have a courtesy vehicle but now I’m driving around because I wasn’t prepared for this gong show, spending money on gas because I’m going to have to fill this vehicle back up when I return it. I understand that sure, fill it up because you leisurely drove around, but I’m filling it up because of VWs mistakes.

I have never felt more misled and frustrated with a dealership in my entire life. All they want to do is nickel and dime you. I will never return once I get my vehicle back.

Jan 2020: This was my first time going to a dealership to buy a car. I didnt feel pressured in anyway, Kris and Charissa worked with me financially. I left a very happy person!

April 2021: since buying my car I have had nothing but issues with it. So many repairs and whenever I take it to Service they quote me into the thousands everytime. I always end up taking it elsewhere for repairs as I simply cannot afford their rates. Always charged 80 to 160 for a simple "diagnoses" and then I have to take it else where anyway. In my experience I will never purchase another VW ever again.

I was recommended to see Jackson by a friend of mine and I can honestly say I had a great experience. I did a lot of research and I actually even went to Norden and Sherwood Park VW but I came back to Southgate because of Jackson. When your purchasing a vehicle you need someone that is patient and can answer all your questions, and that’s what Jackson did. He’s the most honest car salesman that I’ve met (and I’ve met a few). If your looking for a VW he’s your guy!

Highly recommend Southgate Volkswagen! My sales associate Derek was great to deal with. I requested several documents and information to be sent out to me prior to coming to the dealership so I can have time to review. Derek went to the dealership on his day off to email all the requested documents and sent me an awesome video of the vehicle. I knew what I was coming into buy. Loved the vehicle and finalizing the deal was easy. No pressure at all. Thanks to Derek & the Southgate team!

I never post reviews but seeing as they don’t seem to feel responsible for their awful service (I’ve been in a customer facing industry for over 10 years) I feel this needs to be shared as this is not how I would want my business run. The first time we brought in the vehicle to be serviced they said they didn’t hear the squeak that needed to be fixed. Sent us home and of course the squeak is there. We bring it back only for them to keep it for several hours and making it WORSE! Fast forward to today, we bring it in for our scheduled appointment to which they said “they don’t want to work on it because of the cold weather and possibly making it worse”. Something that could’ve been communicated prior to bringing it in instead of wasting our time once AGAIN. They seem to have no respect or consideration for our time and our extremely busy schedule or at the least apologetic for the major inconvenience.

My husband and I had a really good experience with Southgate Volkswagen. We asked to deal with Anton, like many of you, we looked at reviews to get an idea of who would be a good match for us to work with. The reviews certainly highlighted Anton’s strengths which contributed to my personal experience buying a car. Anton is respectful, attentive, straight to the point, and worked hard to ensure my husband and I where well informed and where getting the product and service we needed. We also had a significantly good experience with the finance director, Veer. We enjoyed the no up selling, no pressure and his welcoming, knowledgeable character. Overall, I would highly recommend anyone to check Southgate Volkswagen and ask for Anton!

We had such a lovely experience purchasing our new vehicle at Southgate VW. We spent a long time before coming to a buying decision and Kris was so patient and helpful throughout the entire process. Veer in the finance department was also amazing and walked us through everything (many times!) until we were fully comfortable with the numbers. Highly recommend them both!

My experience at Southgate Volkswagen was perfect from start to finish. I accredit this great experience to Kris, our salesperson. We didn't have an appointment booked but Kris saw us right away and we let him know what we were after - a 2020 Tiguan Highline with the R Line. He found us the perfect one and there's not a thing I'd change about the vehicle; I absolutely love it. I had told him every feature we were looking for and he hit every mark. His demeanour was very relaxed, not trying to force a sale which I can really appreciate. Throughout the process, he remained in touch via text which made my life easier, and always followed through on what he said he'd do. Having been to a lot of dealerships in my lifetime, I finally didn't feel like someone was trying to hose me or wasn't listening to my needs. I've often been met with young salespeople (no offence to them, whatsoever) but I've never felt valued and heard the way that I did with Kris. He's genuinely kind and attentive and made the shopping experience fun instead of daunting and hesitant. I would recommend this dealership, and most of all, Kris, to anyone looking to buy a Volkswagen. Wonderful experience, wonderful staff, and an amazing vehicle. Awesome experience! I had issues with my car and took it in to the service department. Technicians constantly updated me with what was going on. When i got my car back they had washed it and the interior was cleaned.
