I have been taking my skates here to sharpen for years. Recently they purchased a machine to sharpen and it does a horrible job. And most employees don’t know how to confirm if edges are right. The last two of three sharpenings my skates were unusable and I had to use my old skates or I wouldn’t have been able to play. Take your skates somewhere else now.

Was in the Shawnessy store on December 14th. It was busy but Andrea still took time to ask if I needed help. I was looking for an online pair of sandals that weren’t out on the floor so she had to look in the back. She didn’t mind. She found the shoes and walked me up to the till. Very friendly and professional! I paid Athena, who was also friendly and efficient and I was out of the store in record time. Great experience, would recommend.

Laura was so friendly and helpful and made sure I had everything I needed. She was very patient as I tried on every different hoodie size, then decided on the one they didn’t have. She then helped me order the size I wanted that was out of stock, while still getting the in store discount! Very helpful Laura thank you!

Purchased a bike here and was told to come back later in the afternoon for pick up. Confirmation email with a time stamp for the same day date and time. Spent 3-4 hours wasting time in the area as we do not live close by. Returned at time to pick up the bike waited over 20 minutes in line to see the staff building the bike leave. Once we were helped they said the bike was unable to be completed (you could see it in the stand that is was almost fully complete) and that we would have to return in 3 DAYS!

Asked if there was anything they could do to compensate for the major mess up and they said “no sorry”

AVOID!
Complete lack of customer service.

Danny is really amazing. I came to this store on June 14th after seeing the discount event for GT bicycles on Sportchek's website. The whole Calgary area was basically out of stock, so even though I live in the north, I braved the strong winds and heavy rain to come to this southernmost store. When I entered the store, I found out that they didn't have the color and size I liked. I approached a staff who called Danny to help me. Danny searched for a long time in the warehouse and even helped me communicate with other stores over the phone when I mentioned that my language skills were not very good. Although I couldn't find the inventory at this store in the end, with his help, I was able to purchase 2 mountain bikes I liked at the Chinook store. All in all, he was really patient and helpful. It was my first visit in this store and the last one. Sale assistant Elly was arrogant, behaved inappropriate, answered: "So what" on my question if they have another bottle in this color with intact paper label, because it was a present. She rolled her eyes and answered rude. Manager on my claim answered that different people have different manner of speaking. Great excuse.

Really disappointed with my visit today. Was there when store opened to get my skate sharpened as well as my young son's. The staff who works the counter both came in right at ten, and definitely looked rough from the night before. That's fine, everyone was young once. The tech talked to me and clearly didn't care about the conversation, asked how quickly I needed the skates. I said we had a game soon and needed them quickly, but he didn't need to rush. He said he needed an hour which seemed like he was padding his time a bit but I said that's ok. Came back after 75 minutes and he had quite clearly forgot. He told me that he forgot without apology, and told me that he needed ten minutes for our two pairs. When I came back he gave me the wrong pair of skates and again no apology. I've had a decent relationship with sportchek over the years (review would be 4 stars just for the store itself), and will use the store for merchandise still in the future, but after a few similar experiences with the service desk I won't be bringing skates here again, and would advise anyone else to find another option for skates too

Imagine losing out on thousands of dollars worth of sporting equipment sales because your manager Ryan refuses to exchange a M Knee Sleeve for the same product in a Large. Think twice about making any meaningful sporting equipment purchase from this particular location. Customer service is non existent. Keep hiring kids to manage your stores Sport Check.

For your "Manager" Ryan, here is a photo of the barcode. FGL = operates under Sport Check and Atmosphere. Instead of your confrontational attitude you should educate yourself on your employer.

Stopped in to find out what kind of weights they carry and the current cost. After talking to the only two employees I could find no one could tell me the price of the weights. They looked on line and could not find the weights online.
They then asked me to check for the price online.
I called the next day to try to get the price after not finding the price online, I was put on hold for 10 min then they forgot about me so I called back and waited another 10mins.

Terrible customer service. I have gone there twice wanting to buy some skates and stood in the skate section for over 20 mins without anyone coming to help me. Any staff members I did see avoided eye contact or said they didn't work in that section.

The store was not busy, lots of room to wander around and look at things. Need to wear a mask, but no lineups to get in. Staff were very friendly and eager to assist.

I haven't been in this store for about 15 years before today.

Went in to buy a mountain bike, and it was a fantastic experience all around.

I was greeted in a very friendly manner the moment I walked through the door by the cashier. Heading back to the bikes area, it only took a moment before someone was there to help me out.

I spoke at length with Nigel, who assembles and works on the bikes. He had excellent knowledge about the products, and offered a wealth of advice about the products I was considering purchasing.

He was more than happy to take a bike down for me (A GT Aggressor Expert) and suggested I ride the bike around the store to see how it felt. He adjusted and tuned the bike for me once I made the decision to purchase as well, offered advice on maintenance and was very kind all around. He also provided detailed information regarding the included warranty on the product.

The cashier was extremely friendly and fast at ringing me up too.

The entire experience was curated by a member of management as well, who wasted no time in making certain I had an excellent experience at their store.

Every business should follow the example of those who work at this location when it comes to customer experience and assistance.

I will be very happy to visit again!

This store (and all like it) is the reason people buy online. Shoe staff member was reticent to help and when I had a stack of NINE shoesboxes he finally came over to help. He knew very little about shoes ("they fit different" was his answer for how basketball shoes differ from trainers). I tried on 15 diffrent pairs of shoes looking for a good trainer. Within 15 minutes at the Running Room I had 2 great trainers and $350 less dollars. Go there. Well worth the marginal price difference for professional and knowledgable staff that are WILLING to help.

No customer service. Brought my snowboarding boots there to repair 2 weeks ago. They said the BOA system is lifetime warranty. Called them 2 week later and they told me they couldn’t do anything and go to contact the manufacturer. Didn’t even bother to give me a call to tell me that. I probably should have bought them from the manufacturer also.

Not bad, but stock is normally lacking and service is mediocre.
Update: mediocre would be a step up. No one ever to assist in the shoe department. Line at the til was about 10 people. 2 cashiers working on the same til. They don't care about service at all at those location. Okotoks or 130th are much better.

Great team of technicians, Paul is awesome, he fixed my skies quickly and I couldn't even find a damaged spot. Chris, the manager, was incredibly helpful and effective. I had a problem with my ski boots and batteries. He ordered the right batteries quickly and replaced them for me as soon as I came. Great attitude and knowledgeable team.

Shawn.c is a gentleman a very good listener a person that provides public service and makes you feel appreciated coming in and makes you feel happy to come back when leaving.

Why do I say that it's because he has helped myself as a customer I saw him help many other people when I was there as a customer and the his treatment two people face-to-face is very pleasurable and he's just a very good person all around personally speaking so thanks to sports check at Shaughnessy location for all their support and help you guys do your jobs the way it's supposed to be done thank you

I was in terrible pain with a shoulder injury and I had checked other places for a shoulder brace but could not find anyplace that had stock. I decided to try at Sport Chek. When I asked at the front desk I was immediately sent back by the shoe area of the store and a wonderful, friendly sales associate promptly fitted me with a shoulder brace. He made sure it fit properly and told me if I had any problems with it to bring it right back. He went above and beyond my expectations and I wore that brace out of the store. It really made my day.

I went to this location on a Sunday, for a winter jacket I had seen online. The store didn't have any in stock - though the online had said they did - so I ordered the jacket online through the store. I was told that I would receive the jacket in 3 - 5 business days. I was excited, morning are becoming colder. I received an email stating the jacket was ready to go. However, the jacket sat in the warehouse for 3 days and then I received another email that it was being shipped. I still haven't received my order and it's been sitting in the same location for 4 days. I understand that as a business you will go with the best price for couriers but you should also account for the loss of future business when dealing with incompetent couriers. Not a happy customer.

When we call before we get there to get 2 pairs of skates sharpened and then this employee has the audacity to say were not sharpening skates because we are too busy.

Went to get new shoes and it was such a gong show! All the prices on the shoes are completely different from the actual shoes.
The first pair I got were two different sizes, and she had troubles finding the right one. She then asked me where I got them from so I ended up just putting them back myself.

Just seems a bit disorganized in that department. You should for sure make sure the prices are correct before someone is buying an +100.00 item, thinking it was $64.00

Bicycle department is great in service. Ask for Paul, the most knowledgeable and professional technician. I bought 2 bikes and he assembled both in a perfect manor, very satisfied with his service. I wish, they would let him to train the other guys to keep service on the same level. Thank you Paul for being a real PRO.

Great selection of sporting good. Unfortunately there was little to no help in the shoe department. Many customers waiting and rummaging through boxes on their own.

Edit: to be clear, there was a young man in the shoe department who was working as hard as he could to help everyone. I felt like people from other departments could have come to assist him, but they chose not too.

I have been shopping here for years the staff are super cool, some of the guys in shoes are not really with it, I’m wondering if retail is the job for them or someone just hired them to hire them. Their not very personable and overall can’t really communicate well and come across as confused, not knowledgeable or just cocky. The guys at the front make up for the experience and save them every time.
